Recap
- Toadie asking Sindi if they can take things slowly.
- Valda on the phone to Andreas - he has just told her it's over.
The Coffee Shop
Lou and Harold are discussing finding a lodger for Harold's spare room. Sindi walks in; Dee gives her the evil eye! Darcy walks in and Dee tells him off; he is three minutes late. Darcy spots Dee looking over at Sindi. Dee tells him she can't understand why Sindi upsets her so much. Darcy points out, it could be the fact she is dating her ex Toadie! Darcy enquires about her plans for the afternoon. She flicks through her diary (as you do!), and comes across tomorrow's entry; it would have been her and Toadie's one year anniversary. Darcy can see she is upset, as her Doctor he prescribes several hours of taking her mind of things.
Number 30
Toadie is looking at the calendar. He too is reminded that tomorrow is his and Dee's one year anniversary. Sindi comes in offering to take him out to lunch. He says he doesn't feel like it. However Sindi drops the hint that today is her birthday. He changes his mind and offers to take her out.
The Coffee Shop
Lou is suggesting to Harold that instead of renting out his spare room, he should perhaps turn it into a tuba room! Gino comes in desperately needing a coffee fix. He is having a bad day, and by some bizarre coincidence; he is having trouble with his current living arrangements! Lou points out Harold's notice for a lodger, despite Harold trying to dismiss the fact. Gino says he is very interested and announces he can move in this afternoon. Harold however suggests he takes a look at the room first.
Number 26
Valda is 'still' crying over Andreas. Lyn comes in whistling. She tells Valda Joe is off doing some last minute shopping for his trip; so it will just be the two of them this afternoon. This makes Valda cry again! She tells Lyn how lovely she is being. Lyn suggests she has a good cry!
LYN: Everybody gets into a bad relationship at sometime or another.
VALDA: Yeah, when they are teenagers; not at my age.
Valda tells Lyn she knew it was all too good to be true. She just wanted it 'so' much. Apparently Andreas is refusing to look after Stella and Blanche. Lyn suggests they can come and stay with them.
The Park
Darcy is showing off by doing cartwheels and handstands. Dee is watching him while eating her lunch. She tells him to eat his lunch before he injures himself.
DEE: Why is it that Doctors are always the worst when it comes to their own health?
DARCY: Why is it that nurses are the worst at having other people look after them?
He offers her a strawberry.
DARCY: Be a good girl and take your medicine.
DEE: Yes Doctor!
Darcy suggests they can go elsewhere if she wants. She reminds him that he has promised her a day of diversion; she intends to hold him to his word.
The Bar
Sindi and Toadie come in for lunch; they had tried Lassiters but it was fully booked. Toadie is apologising for not being able to take her somewhere special. Sindi tells him it doesn't matter, and that she is just happy to be spending time with him.
Number 24
Lou is watching from the sofa as Harold is showing Gino around the house. Harold is doing his best to put Gino off moving in. He tells him about his late night Salvation Army rounds, and that the window sticks in the spare room. Gino doesn't seem bothered; he also has late night Latin dance lessons.
HAROLD: I've been told I snore.
GINO: I'm a very heavy sleeper.
Despite further attempts to put him off moving in; Gino has his heart set on moving in. He takes himself off to get his things out of the car, he promises to make them his speciality coffee when he returns. With Gino out of the room, Harold tells Lou it will be a long time before he forgives him for this. Lou gently reminds him about helping people in need!
Number 26
Valda is having a pampering session. She is soaking her feet while Lyn is painting her fingernails for her. There is a knock at the door. Valda is concerned about someone seeing her like this; it's only Lou. Lou comes in; she jokingly says she is having a paddle. Lou tells them the news that Gino is moving in next door.
LOU: Can you imagine it! Two fussy old gossip mongers like Harold and Gino bunking in together. What a hoot!!
Lyn doesn't seem to keen on her boss living next door. "Talk about big brother watching".
Number 24
Harold is very impressed with Gino's classic DVD collection. Harold is astounded Gino is such a huge Rogers and Hammerstein buff. Gino is really glad Harold is such a fan; his last flatmate hated them. Gino quietly confesses he plays the xylophone, and that he will make sure he practices while Harold is out. Harold won't hear anything of the sort; he suggests they can have tuba and xylophone jamming sessions (god help the neighbours).
The Pub
Sindi and Toadie are eating lunch. Sindi can tell his mind is elsewhere; she asks him if he is thinking about Dee. He tells Sindi about the one year anniversary tomorrow. Lou comes over to tell them about Harold's new lodger; he is running a sweepstake on how long it will last. Sindi goes to get some more drinks. Toadie's mind is still on 'other things'.
The Park
Darcy and Dee are enjoying some drinks. They are talking about the baby that they lost. Darcy apologises for everything that happened. Dee tells him it is all in the past, and that they have both moved on. He continues reminiscing about the past. Dee says she prefers the 'New Darcy'.
Number 26
Valda is sorting through her clothes. She wants to sell some to make some money; she thinks she is outstaying her welcome, especially with the new baby coming. Lyn reassures her by saying she is very welcome, and that she can stay as long as she wants; she is relying on her helping out with the baby. Valda worries that babies aren't her area of expertise; Lyn assures her she will be fine.
The Coffee Shop
Toadie is buying Sindi a birthday cake when Darcy and Dee walk in. Dee tells them that she and Darcy have just had a picnic. Toadie makes a quick exit with Sindi; Dee comments to Darcy on how happy they looked.
Number 24
Harold and Gino are cooking and talking about Liza Minnelli. Lou comes in just in time for dinner; he decides not to join them when he discovers it is tofu. Gino disappears off to the little boy's room. Lou begins teasing Harold about his new living arrangements. Harold surprises him by saying he is enjoying having Gino around.
Number 26
Valda and Lyn have returned after seeing Karl and Joe onto the plane. They both joke that it did take a bit of last minute prodding to get them both on! Valda makes a start on putting her clothes away. While moving a coat she drops some photos. Lyn picks them up; they are pictures of Lyn's family. Lyn is surprised that Valda has kept them. Valda tells her "Of course I kept them; you are the only family I care about". Lyn stumbles across a picture of a baby. When she asks who it is; Valda unconvincingly says it is a friend's baby.
Number 30
Sindi and Toadie are eating the birthday cake; she suggests they hire a video. It is obvious Toadie 'still' has something on his mind. He doesn't think the video is a good idea; infact he doesn't think that they are a good idea. He gently breaks up with her. He explains it's not fair to go out with her, while he is thinking about someone else. Sindi says she doesn't mind and she can live with it. Toadie can't though; it isn't his style.
Darcy's Appartment
Darcy has made some desserts for himself and Dee. He teasingly tries feeding Dee some cream. They end up kissing.
