Sarah pulls the emergency alarm, but noone is coming to help. She gets on to the bed and starts giving CPR. Karl comes in and says Sarah has managed to revive her. He asks for his stethoscope.
No.30, the following morning
Tad makes breakfast for Sarah “the hero”. He and Toadie praises Sarah's quick thinking. Tad says he's always available is she wants to practise mouth-to-mouth! Sarah replies that they usually practise on dummies, so Tad would be perfect(!).
Karen arrives. Toadie tells her he can't spend the day with her because he has to be with Tad and Aunty Coral, who is coming to visit for Tad's court appearance.
The Coffee Shop
Mike and Libby are having coffee and talking about Mike's new job at the Erinsborough News. Mike is not very forthcoming with details. Libby asks Cassandra behind the counter where Madge and Harold are. She says they're looking for a rat, but quickly changes it to “rattle”(!).
A letter has come for Joel from Dominator Sports. Sarah isn't sure whether to take ti to Joel – it might be bad news. She decides to wait for a few days.
Tad complains he has nothing to do but hang around until his mother gets there. He asks Toadie how a creep like him got a hot babe like Karen(!). They playfight for a bit. Tad tells Karen the court case will be a breeze, but Toadie suddenly gets serious and tells him he's underestimating the importance of the event. He tells Tad that he must not be a smart-mouth in court.
Deirdre the patient is fine, and Karl tells Sarah he's proud of how she handled it. The head of nursing wants a report, however – Sarah's actions were outside the bounds of her position. If things had gone wrong, the hospital could have been sued. Sarah could be in trouble, but Karl says he'll help her any way he can.
Toadie is getting ready for the court case. Tad's mother, Coral arrives. Tad unconvincingly tells her she's missed her. His mother is mad with him for having to go to court.
Deirdre is feeling better. She thanks Sarah for helping her. Sarah tells her she's in trouble – Deirdre says it's a load of rubbish. Deirdre has been trying to talk to them. She says if they let her go she should go back to working at Karl's surgery(!).
Coral is going mad with Tad saying he is a ratbag. Toadie says he hasn't been bad since he's been with him. Coral says Toadie shouldn't let Tad pull the wool over his eyes(!). She makes Tad put on a suit for the court.
The latest edition is being printed. Libby and Mike come in. Mike tells her the Erinsborough News is thinking about a colour supplement in every issue. That will give jobs to write the copy. He tells Libby that the editor wants to talk to her.
Toadie, Tad and Coral are back from court. Tad has got a 12 month bond and a $100 fine. But if he doesn't commit any more offences before he's 18 his criminal record will be wiped. Tad is quite casual about the whole affair.
Karen serves up pavlova and Coral gets snobby that Karen has used tinned fruit instead of fresh fruit(!). Coral drags Tad off to do some food shopping.
Libby has seen the editor. She has been demoted. She is now the gossip writer. Mike laughs at her but Libby is very cross. She's been slugging her guts out for months and she's got a lousy job at the end of it. Mike claims he didn't know anything about it.
Karl brings in a parcel for Susan. It turns out to be copies of English Classics books like Pride and Prejudice etc. Karl tells Susan that Sarah could be in serious trouble over resuscitating the patient. Susan tells Karl that the radio show host called again to ask him for the interview. He wonders what part of “no” the host doesn't understand!
Libby asks Mike if he'll say something to the editor. He refuses and tells her to tell him herself. He says the editor is probably moving her around to give her some experience. Mike says the editor is impressed by her, she should just hang in there.
Karen tells Toadie that her family are moving to New Zealand and she is going with them. In fact, she is going tomorrow! Toadie asks if she'll be back for the start of the university term. She isn't sure what she's doing.
Coral and Tad come back with mountains of food and Karen leaves.
Libby is a bit mad with Mike. He tells her that he's recommended to the editor that a journalism student follows him in his work. She doesn't think it sounds very exciting, but she will think about it.
Coral tells Toadie not to look so miserable about Karen leaving. He can't understand why she's going. Coral tells him to call her.
Sarah comes in and is introduced to Coral. Coral tells her they've got European wasps out the front(!)
Sarah tells Toadie that she's been grilled about what happened with Deirdre, even though she saved her life. Toadie is incredulous that Sarah might be sacked.
Susan tells Karl that she's sick of Eric the hideous idol. Karl says they can't get rid of him because Lou would be really offended. Susan suggests saying it was lost or stolen! Karl reckons Lou will tell the police, but Susan says they can talk their way around that(!) Susan suggest they put him under the house so they can bring it back if Lou is really upset(!).
Mike and Libby come in. Mike says they can put it under his house so that Lou won't see it by accident. He says it's a good way of keeping in with his in-laws(!)
Toadie is brooding about Karen. Coral thanks him for looking after Tad. She asks him if Tad can stay with him for six months! Tad's Dad is away working and she's doing 10 hour days. Toadie isn't keen – he's no parent. Coral says that she has every faith in him and begs him to take Tad off her hands.
Tad overhears this last bit and get very upset. He tells his mother that he doesn't want to be with her either.
