Recap
- Jo telling Mark that they're going to go through her clothes and sort through them so she can get rid of everything that reminds him of Annalise.
- Sam finding out that his mother caught his father in bed with her best friend and yelling at his father that he's lucky he doesn't tear him apart right now.
No. 24
Patrick comments to Sam calmly that he doesn't mean that. He goes on:
PATRICK: You hear my side, you believe *me*. You hear her side, you suddenly believe *her*. What about the middle ground?
At that moment, Marlene and Annalise come in with some shopping and Marlene says she'll put the kettle on. Annalise looks at Sam's face and asks what's wrong. Sam just glares at his father and retorts:
SAM: Ask *him*.
There's silence. Patrick then explains that it's just some crossed wires. He tells his mother that Sarah accused him of having an affair. Sam stares at him. Patrick then admits that she was right... sort of. Marlene remarks coolly:
MARLENE: 'Sort of'? Is that the same as 'slightly pregnant'?
Patrick exclaims that the woman *threw* herself at him; he's only human! Sam explains that he rang his mum and they were in bed: Patrick and his mum's best friend. Marlene stares at Patrick and asks him incredulously how he could stoop so low after all the things *she* went through with his father. Patrick murmurs meekly:
PATRICK: I'm sorry, mum.
Marlene asks angrily if that's all he can say. Patrick hesitates and then walks out, saying he'll come back later. As he goes, Sam mutters:
SAM: Hope you fall under a bus.

Vikram is behind the counter when Jo walks up to buy some wedding magazines. She shows Vikram a picture of a dress and asks if he thinks it would suit her. Vikram smiles that he thinks she'd look superb. Jo smiles that she never thought she'd meet someone as wonderful as Mark: he's so wonderful and sensitive. Vikram asks if that means she and Mark are perhaps... Jo replies that Mark said they shouldn't rush anything, but *she* thinks they're perfect for each other; it's just a matter of when.
No. 28
Susan and Karl are tidying up the mess left by the kids, when Cheryl and Judy come in through the front door and Cheryl asks Susan if she's still up for golf. Susan looks at Karl and asks if he minds. Karl sighs that he thought weekends were for relaxation - but in this mess... As the three women head out, Karl reluctantly wishes them fun. Judy teases that they'll spend the whole day discussing all his dark and deep secrets!
No. 22
Mal is trying to study, but Danni is more keen on planning muck- up day. She tells Mal that it has to be really over the top so they never forget the class of '95. Brett comes in and Danni asks how the tram restaurant was. Brett replies that he got talking to one of the waitresses and she's sponsored a child through World Vision too. He adds that he thought they would have got *theirs* by now.
No. 24
Sam is exclaiming angrily that he can't believe he listened to his father. Marlene comments:
MARLENE: You know, after seeing what happened between Hector and me - him having affairs every time I turned my back...
SAM: Yeah, which makes it even worse. I mean, to think he used me like that, pretending he'd come here especially to get to know me.
Annalise says she knows what Patrick has done was wrong, but maybe it was something that just happened - beyond his control. Sam exclaims:
SAM: What - while he was looking the other way?
Annalise persists that they don't know all the facts; maybe they shouldn't judge him. Sam, however, retorts that he is a cheat, a coward and a liar and it makes him sick. He tells a guilty- looking Annalise that there is no way he would think of looking at anyone else while he was seeing *her*.
Chez Chez
Patrick, Karl, Lou and Vikram are playing darts. Lou offers everyone more drinks, but Karl says it's his shout. He goes to the bar. Lou asks Patrick how things are going with Sam. Patrick replies that they still have a lot to talk about... He goes on that he wouldn't mind getting Sam away from Ramsay Street for a while; see if they can work things out. Vikram suggests taking him to a Drum weekend - he did one a couple of months ago and it changed his life. Karl rejoins them and asks where the Drum weekend took place. Vikram explains that it was out in the bush - a weekend workshop; men only. Lou comments that it could be a lark! At that moment, Cheryl, Susan and Judy come in, laughing, and Karl asks what's so funny. Judy grins:
JUDY: It's just a little snippet that Susan told us about Karl's first experience.
LOU (grins at Karl): Little snippet, eh?
KARL (to Susan, angrily): You told them I was a virgin when we met?
There's a sudden silence, before Susan explains that she told them about his first experience as a doctor - the time he plastered the wrong leg on those twins. Karl stands there looking awkwardly and embarrassed!
Rear balcony of No. 30
Jo and Mark are holding glasses of wine and Jo smiles that dinner was delicious. She asks Mark what he wants to do now. Mark says quickly that he thinks it's time to do the washing up. Jo, however, tells him that she was thinking they could snuggle up on the couch and look at his photo album. Mark doesn't look keen. Jo smiles and tells him that she wants to see his baby photographs!
No. 28
Karl and Susan head into No. 28, Karl snapping at Susan that he supposes she thinks it's funny that he's just gone through the most humiliating experience of his life. Susan, however, retorts that it's not their fault that he jumped to the wrong conclusion. Karl asks why she has to be so buddy- buddy with Cheryl anyway: she's a bad influence and he doesn't want her playing with her again. Susan just smiles and tells him not to ever try that again, as he knows he has no right to tell her who she can play with and who she can't, and no right to boss her around on *anything*. With that, she heads to bed.
No. 24
Annalise is sitting with her head on Sam's chest as he says that if you love someone then monogamy shouldn't be such a big ask. Annalise asks if it's really so simple even where passion is concerned. Patrick comes in at that moment and tells Sam that he knows he's a failure in Sam's eyes, but he does his best. Annalise leaves them to it and heads to bed. Patrick comments to Sam that Annalise is a great girl; he's very lucky. Sam just asks Patrick tersely what he wants to say. Patrick tells his son that perhaps they could try to get to know one another; there are bits of him that Sam might quite like. He then explains about the Drum weekend and asks Sam what he reckons. Sam frowns that it sounds a bit odd. Patrick asks him to give it a go and Sam gives in. Patrick smiles that he'll organise it first thing. Sam murmurs:
SAM: I'm not hugging any trees, all right?!
No. 28
Karl is lying on the lounge room floor, listening to music through headphones. Mal disturbs him and offers him a hot chocolate. Karl accepts. Mal asks him if he's OK. Karl replies that he's fine. Mal then says he couldn't help overhearing Karl and his mum earlier. He goes on that when he and Danni first started going out, he felt like such a dork - being a virgin and all; he felt like his virility was being questioned; but Danni was great and now he's glad she was the first. Karl says he wishes he could say the same, but it was just that feeling of being inexperienced... Mal asks if that's a crime. Karl replies that it certainly was in *his* day.
Holy Roll
The next morning, Marlene is telling Mark in the kitchen that $7,500 from the sale of Helen's painting of Lou is just what the youth centre needs and she was thinking of extending and making the place as accessible to as many young people as possible - but she doesn't know how to go about it. Mark suggests they offer emergency accommodation. Marlene remarks that they'll have to look at regulations first. Mark offers to do that. The two of them head out into the main shop as Marlene then says they're having a think tank meeting to discuss their options, and she asks Mark if he'll reconsider joining them. Mark, however, insists that he's flattered, but he needs some time to himself after everything that's happened in the last year. With that, Marlene heads out. Vikram comes in and joins Mark at the counter, saying:
VIKRAM: I believe congratulations are in order!
MARK (blankly): Er, congratulations?
VIKRAM: Joanna - she told me the good news.
MARK: News?
VIKRAM: Wedding bells soon, huh?
MARK (shocked): She *what*?!
No. 22
Brett walks into No. 22 with Dahl on his shoulder and the post in his hand. Everyone is having breakfast. Brett opens a letter and tells everyone that the information from World Vision has arrived. He opens the documentation, which includes a photo of the kid they're sponsoring. Brett tells her that it's Sinetti Laboulou - he's eight years old, from Kenya. Danni comments that he and Susan can meet him. She smiles that the child is beautiful. There's suddenly a knock on the front door and Brett goes and opens it to Patrick, who asks if Lou is in. Brett points him to the kitchen table. Cheryl hands Lou a shopping list, but Lou tells her that he and Patrick are off to the races. He then looks guilty and suggests to Patrick that they could go to the races at the weekend instead. Patrick, however, explains that he's going to be away at that bang- a- drum do with Sam. He asks Lou if he'd like to come. Lou comments that Patrick means he wants moral support! - but he agrees to come.
Lassiter's complex
Jo, Marty Hackman - the real estate agent - and Annalise are walking across the complex, Jo commenting that she thinks the place would be perfect for AnnaJo Promotions if they bought it. Hackman says the rent is negotiable - and they do want someone reliable in there—. He's interrupted by Mark walking across and asking Jo for a word. The two of them walk across the bridge. Jo comments to Mark that she loves it when he's stern, but it'll have to wait, and she tells him to meet her at Marlene's after work. She rejoins Annalise, who takes her to one side and tells her that Hackman is going to give them a 15% reduction in the rent if they pay monthly in advance. She asks Jo what she thinks, and Jo nods her assent. The two of them turn back to Hackman and tell him that he's got a deal.
Newsagency
Lou walks in and hands Philip some winnings from a bet he put on a horse on Philip's behalf. He then tells Philip that he'd like to borrow some camping equipment, as he's going to brave this camping weekend with Patrick and Sam. Philip sighs that he wishes he was coming as well: visiting Michael whet his appetite for a bit more of the outdoors. Lou smiles that he's sure Philip would be welcome. Philip comments that if he can find someone to take over the newsagency, he'll come!
No. 28
Susan is smelling a bunch of flowers. Karl joins her and explains that it's his attempt at an apology; he has to admit that it wasn't her fault what happened at the pub. He goes on that he hasn't been sleeping lately and sleep deprivation tends to make you irrational, and paranoid, even, so he's sorry. Susan smiles and tells him that his apology is accepted!
No. 24
Jo opens the door to Mark, who tells her that they need to talk. Jo, however, says she has a surprise for him. She picks up his photo album and shows him some photos: she's cut out Annalise's face from photos of her and Mark together, and has replaced them with photos of her own face. She explains to Mark that she figured it was the best way for him to get Annalise out his subconscious after he called her 'Annalise' the other night. Mark asks in horror if she's done it to all of them; every one. Jo nods that she has. Mark stands there looking furious.
