Erinsborough High
Susan tells Lance and Hannah curtly that they have both got some serious explaining to do. Lance says:
LANCE: I wasn't feeling very well!
Susan just sighs that that's a nice try! Hannah cries that the other kids were teasing them; they're really sorry. Susan tells her that she'll have to talk to her dad - and there'll be detention for both of them. As Hannah and Lance leave the store room, Susan grins to herself behind their backs!
Holy Roll
Jen is sitting with Cody, who's talking about Adrian having written suggestive comments on her assignment. Philip comes in to finalise the details with Mark for Helen's birthday cake. He then joins Jen and Cody, and Jen invites him for a coffee. Philip, however, says he's left Vikram holding the fort and has to get back.
Erinsborough High
Libby runs up to Billy, Brett and Melissa and asks them excitedly if they heard about Hannah and Lance! Brett mutters that at least Hannah will die happy. Billy teases that no one loves Brett! Libby and Mel head off to the library to study. Billy offers Mel a hand, but Mel says she's fine: she's working on a Physics assignment with Danny Toonan. She then reassures him that she doesn't like Danny like 'that'; they're just doing an assignment together.
No. 24
Sam heads into No. 24, where Patrick is waiting for him with a beer. He asks Sam if he had a good day and Sam replies that it wasn't bad. Patrick tells him that he's very proud of him, the way he's made a go of running his own business. Sam smiles and says he'd better get in the shower. As Sam heads to the bathroom, Patrick stops him and says:
PATRICK: I know I can't wind the clock back - I've missed out on all that, and it's my loss; but you did say we could be mates, now, didn't you?
SAM (shrugs): Well, I said we could try, yeah.
PATRICK: Maybe we could pop over to your local Chinese tonight - if you've got nothing else on?
SAM (nods awkwardly): Sounds good.
No. 26
Susan is sitting at the kitchen table with Philip, Jen and Helen, as Hannah stands and listens. Susan tells the adults that she gave Hannah and Lance detention and she'll do what she can to make sure it doesn't happen again, but after that it's up to Philip. Philip snaps at Hannah to go to her room. She walks off meekly. Helen comments in surprise that it's so *unlike* Hannah - she's normally so *modest*. Philip exclaims that that's right: *Lance* must be the one who's responsible. Susan, however, says she thinks Hannah was as much to blame as Lance: the cupboard bit was her idea. Jen chips in that hormones have got a lot to answer for - and in the final analysis, not a lot of harm was done. Susan tells Philip that she doesn't think it will happen again. Philip sighs and asks what he should say to Hannah!
Sonny's van
Sonny and Libby are pashing in the front of Sonny's van. As they break apart momentarily, Libby murmurs:
LIBBY: Surf was good.
SONNY (grins): This is better.
After a few more seconds of kissing, Sonny suggests gently that they hop in the back. Libby, however, says uncertainly:
LIBBY: I don't know...
SONNY: Oh come on... it'll be fun. Oh look, you don't have to worry about—
LIBBY: Yeah - it's not that.
SONNY: Well, what?
LIBBY: Well...
SONNY: You want to, don't you?
LIBBY: Yeah. It's just...
SONNY: What?
LIBBY: It's so *nice* here.
SONNY: You're beautiful, Lib. Come on.
With that, Sonny moves into the back of his van. Libby sits where she is, looking worried...

Hannah emerges from her room sheepishly and sits down next to Philip on the couch. He tells her that he's been sitting there wondering what to say to her for the last half hour; he knows she's not a child anymore and is in a hurry to grow up - but if she rushes into things and makes decisions where she's not prepared to handle the consequences, she'll find herself in positions she doesn't want to be in. Hannah frowns that she doesn't understand. Philip goes on that they take steps that they can't retreat from, which change them and the way they look at the world and the way the world looks at *them*; they'll happen, but in their own time.
Sonny's van
Libby is telling Sonny reluctantly that it's not that she doesn't like him - but if that's all he wanted from her, she guesses that's it. Sonny, however, insists quickly that he's not like that; it's just that he thought she might want to. Libby tells him that she does - but she wants it to be special... for her first time. Sonny closes his eyes as he realises:
SONNY: You're... You mean you haven't...
LIBBY (flatly): Yes I am and no I haven't.
Sonny quickly says he just didn't think; most of the girls he's been going out with have been older - but it's cool; there's no hurry. He assures Libby that he didn't mean to pressure her; the last thing he wants to do is scare her off. Libby kisses him, looking relieved.
No. 26
Philip is telling Hannah:
PHILIP: So you see it's about maturing - emotionally as well as physically. Do you understand?
HANNAH (frowns): Are you talking about sex?!
PHILIP: Yes!
HANNAH (wide- eyed): You're worried about me and Lance having sex?!
PHILIP: Yes!
HANNAH (exclaims): Dad, I don't want to have sex with him!
PHILIP: You don't?
HANNAH: Dad, we were just kissing!
Philip asks about the hiding away and skipping classes. Hannah explains that they wanted some privacy - but now that everyone knows, it's going to be heaps worse. Philip comments that she's got detention for her trouble - but he thinks that might be enough, as long as she's learnt her lesson. Hannah smiles that she promises it won't happen again. She and Philip hug.
No. 28
Billy is asking Susan if Philip went sick over Lance and Hannah, but Susan refuses to talk about it, instead asking Billy to peel potatoes. She adds that Melissa will help him. She then asks Melissa how her work's going, as she saw her with Danny Toonan in the library. Mel tells her that Danny's really bright. Libby and Sonny come in and Libby asks her mum if Sonny can stay for dinner. Susan asks Billy to peel some more potatoes!
Newsagency
The next morning, Jen and Brett walk into the newsagency telling Philip that Helen is out in the car and Hannah's keeping her busy. Philip, however, says Vikram's not there yet; he can't go until he gets there. He tells Jen and Brett to go ahead and he'll catch up.
Holy Roll
Sam sits down with Cody and hands her a coffee, commenting that she looks whacked! Cody explains that she didn't get much sleep last night: Adrian kept ringing her up; she eventually had to take the 'phone off the hook. Sam suggests that she should get a restraining order. Cody then asks Sam how his dad's going. Sam smiles that they went out for dinner last night and did a fair bit of talking. Cody asks if his mum's coming down, but Sam tells her that his mum and dad had a bit of a misunderstanding: she thought his dad was fooling around, but she jumped the gun. Cody suggests Sam give his mum a call, as he might be able to get them to talk. Philip dashes in at that moment and collects Helen's birthday cake from mark.
A stretch of grass between roads
Jen, Brett, Helen and Hannah are walking across a stretch of grass, Helen asking in puzzlement why they're catching a tram if they came out in the car. Jen just smiles that it's a lovely day; what could be more fun than a tram ride?! At that moment, the tram restaurant pulls up and everyone yells 'Happy Birthday!' at a surprise Helen! Jen tells her that Philip got caught up at work and will have to catch up with them.
Tram restaurant
Everyone boards the tram and is shown to their seats. The tram moves away.
Street
Philip starts running after the tram, trying to catch it up as he holds the box containing the cake in his hands!
Tram restaurant
Inside, a waitress asks the party if they want her to clear Philip's space, but Jen smiles that they haven't given up hope yet! Helen tells everyone that she wants to thank them all for making her birthday such a wonderful surprise - they're just missing Philip. At that moment, Philip manages to board the tram, gasping that he's been chasing the thing for miles! The tram suddenly starts moving and the cake box flies out of Philip's hands. Fortunately, Helen catches it!
No. 28
Billy is sitting with Mel on the couch and Mel is asking him if he's sure his mum and dad won't come home. Billy tells her to relax: they've got the whole place to themselves. They start to kiss - but are interrupted by Libby and Sonny coming in, with Manuela and Matt in tow. Libby tells Billy that they're having a video fest. Billy suggests that he and Mel head down to the coffee shop. Mel, however, tells Billy that she wouldn't mind staying to watch.
Tram restaurant
Helen blows out the candles on her birthday cake and everyone cheers. Philip raises his glass and toasts her. Jen then suggests to him that he give Helen her 'other' present. Philip takes something out of his pocket. It's a small jewellery box. Helen opens it to reveal a brooch. She stares at it and remarks that it's beautiful - but it looks familiar. Philip tells her to read the card. Helen reads:
HELEN: 'To Helen. With all my love, now and forever more. Reuben'.
Tears well- up in her eyes. Philip explains that Garnet found it among some of Reuben's business effects; apparently it was meant to be a surprise. Helen cries that that she remembers now: she saw it in a little shop in Venice and thought it was exquisite; Reuben must have gone back and bought it. She sobs happily:
HELEN: Thank you - all of you - for the most perfect day.
No. 24
Sam is talking to his mother on the 'phone, sighing that he understands. He slams down the receiver. Patrick comes in through the front door and asks Sam cheerily if he feels like a cleansing ale. Sam, however, growls at him that he's just got off the 'phone to his mum. Patrick's face drops. He says:
PATRICK: Let me explain something.
SAM (yells): Yeah, well, I'm not interested in your explanations, dad. She found you in bed. How is that 'getting the wrong impression'? How is that 'going off the deep end for nothing'? She comes home and finds you in bed with her best friend. You've been cheating on her and you've been lying to *me*.
PATRICK: If you'll just hear me out—
SAM (snaps): Oh what, more lies? Great!
PATRICK: So, I made a mistake.
SAM: Yeah, well, you've been having these affairs for *years*. You make me *sick*, dad.
PATRICK: Son...
SAM (furiously): Shut up. Don't call me that. All your stories about turning a leaf, about getting to know each other... what a crock. You just came here 'cos you had nowhere else to go. You know, you're lucky I don't tear you apart right now, 'cos that's about the only pleasure I'd get from you: to feel my fist in your lying, ugly face.
Patrick stares at him.
