Jim leaves and Madge talks about how happy everyone is with the name changes. Madge tells Scott she is thrilled he will be calling her ‘Mum'. Scott and Charlene head to bed and Madge sends Henry off to do his laundry. Harold is sitting alone in the living room and tells Madge he thought Charlene would call him ‘Dad' one day. There's a moment of awkwardness and Harold takes Madge's hand. He is about to discuss their relationship when the phone rings. It's Mrs Mangel. She tells Madge to stop Henry from moving things around in her shed. Madge informs her that Henry is standing beside her and Mrs Mangel gets distressed. She tells Madge in that case she has a prowler. Madge tells her to call the police but points out that she troubles them so often they probably won't believe her. Mrs Mangel apologises for disturbing Madge and puts the phone down.
Harold is concerned about Mrs Mangel but Madge is sure she is making up a story to get attention.
Mrs Mangel is on the phone to the police. They seem reluctant to come out but eventually agree to send a patrol car round in a few minutes. Mrs Mangel ends the call and returns to the living room. The intruder gets up and runs towards the door. Mrs Mangel is screaming as Harold and Henry arrive. Henry rugby tackles the intruder to the floor but he escapes his grip and makes a run for it. Harold trips him up and straddles him on the floor!
Des and Mike are playing cricket indoors whilst Eileen is sewing. Bouncer takes a toy from the table and Eileen tells Des to throw it out as it could now be infested with germs! Eileen insists that Bouncer should be kept outside when Jamie arrives home.
The police lead the intruder out of the house. They ask if she's ok and say he was probably after the video recorder. Henry explains that thieves follow the delivery trucks to find out which homes have video players. After they leave Mrs Mangel tells Henry and Harold they were heroes.
Madge is shocked as Henry tells her what happened. Madge thinks it serves Mrs Mangel right for crying wolf so many times. Henry tells her that it's not funny and says if it weren't for he and Harold she could have been hurt. Madge says she doesn't mean her any harm but she's annoyed. She thinks Mrs Mangel will take advantage of this to keep Harold at the house.
Harold wants Mrs Mangel to see a doctor but she's reluctant. She tells him Beverly is only making her have tests, as they are expensive. Mrs Mangel asks Harold if they could watch a video together to take her mind off things. They decide to watch a nice soothing film.
Eileen is leaving and tells Megan that as of tomorrow she will be moving in so she will have to move out! Des shows Eileen out and Megan tells Mike they will soon have their own place. Mike tells her that he won't be leaving home just yet as he wants to be here for Jamie. Megan tells him he's not part of the family and thinks they will all end up resenting each other when Jamie arrives. Mike agrees she is talking sense and says he will tell Des and Daphne he's moving out.
The matron is showing Des and Daphne out of the hospital. They put Jamie in the car and Daphne is excited about going home.
Madge is still upset about Harold staying with Mrs Mangel. Charlene wonders how the prowler is and thinks he would have got a big shock seeing Mrs Mangel in the middle of the night. Henry reprimands them all and tells them it could have been serious. Madge reminds Henry what Mrs Mangel was like when he first moved into the neighbourhood. She tells him that thanks to Mrs Mangel none of the street thought they were safe in their beds. Henry thinks Mrs Mangel has changed and says he is going to help her all he can.
Mrs Mangel is getting ready for work and Harold tells her she should take the whole day off. She is reluctant to do so given that Paul has already given her time off but Harold tells her she should be taking her health more seriously. He makes her a cup of tea whilst she rests.
Jamie is home and everyone is fussing over him. Eileen shows Daphne the frill she made for the bassinette. Daphne is grateful and thanks Mike. Megan asks Mike when he's going to tells Des and Daphne about their flat, he says he'll do it later. Daphne takes Jamie for a feed and Eileen is concerned about some of their new age ideas.
Madge is waiting for Harold whilst Henry is fixing his lawnmower.
Harold and Mrs Mangel emerge from No 32 and Madge and Henry come to join them. Madge reprimands Harold for not picking her up on time. Mrs Mangel makes a point of saying good morning to Madge but Madge ignores her. Mrs Mangel tells Madge that her rudeness is despicable and says she has tried to be friendly to her for weeks. Madge tells her that just because she has Harold and Henry on side doesn't mean the rest of the street will follow. As Henry and Harold try to calm the ladies down, Madge tells Mrs Mangel that it's terrible to pretend she's sick just to gain sympathy. Mrs Mangel is appalled and hits Madge with her paper. Madge hits her right back and Mrs Mangel runs off crying. Harold doesn't know what to do and Madge sharply warns him not to run after Mrs Mangel.
Mrs Mangel walks into her house crying. She seems to be in pain and holds on to the sofa for support.
Harold thinks he and Madge should both go into talk to Mrs Mangel. Madge doesn't agree and tells Harold that Mrs Mangel has him exactly where she wants him. She warns him that she won't stand for this any longer and walks off.
Mrs Mangel is on the floor. She's in pain and tries to pull herself up using the table. But it's too much for her and she collapses on the ground.
