Recap
Helen visits Bill's grave and finds fresh flowers on it.
Hotel Room
Ruth is woken by Jim knocking on the door. She apologises to him for being late, but he gives her some flowers and says he'll meet her in the bar. He's clearly trying to seduce her!
Ruth is still worried about Helen, but Jim says Helen is quite happy that things are working out between them.
Robinsons
Helen shows Laura the card. Laura says maybe there was a mix-up at the florist. She says it must have been a mistake and Helen shouldn't get upset by it. But Helen says that she recognises the writing from somewhere.
The Pub
Grace comes in for a drink and bumps into Jim there. Shane tells Jim that Clive has gone to his grandfather's funeral (that was sudden!) Jim tells Grace that he's glad she's turned up because Helen is so happy to see her. Grace reminisces about Bill and how much fun all three of them used to have together - according to Grace he was quite a man.
Robinsons
Jim and Ruth arrive for dinner. Laura is still eyeing Grace warily.
(Later)
Lucy sends Helen off to bed. Ruth says she's heading off too, and Jim insists on walking her back! (I think he thinks his luck is in!)
Grace comments that Jim and Ruth are a perfect couple. Laura tells Grace that she's always been such a matchmaker it's a wonder she never made one for herself. Grace says she never found a man that lived up to her standards.
Ruth's hotel room
Ruth says she hasn't been walked home in the moonlight for a long time. Ruth is pleased that Helen has been so generous to her.
JIM: She just wants me to be happy.
RUTH: And what will make you happy?
(Well now, let's see...)
Jim and Ruth pash.
RUTH: I never said I wanted you to leave.
JIM: I've been making a lot of mistakes recently. I don't want to spoil this by making another one so I'll say goodnight.
(Eh? Very moral, considering...)
Jim heads off.
Robinsons
Helen and Grace are laughing together but Ruth is sitting pretty stony-faced. When Helen has gone to get some more coffee, Laura tells Grace she doesn't know why she came back - she hopes she's not going to hurt Helen. Grace says she has no intention of hurting Helen.
LAURA: Go home. Let sleeping dogs lie.
Grace says that it's none of Laura's business, but Laura says Helen is her sister.
When Helen comes back, Grace heads off. Helen invites Grace out to lunch tomorrow and Grace agrees.
When Grace has gone, Helen asks Laura what's happened between her and Grace - they used to be friends when they were young. Laura says that they don't have anything in common anymore. Helen asks her to make an effort with Grace.
Ramsays, the following morning
Nikki calls in for Charlene, but she's still asleep! Laura comes up dressed in jogging gear. Nikki doesn't think Laura should be jogging, but Laura is insistent. Halfway down Ramsay street, Laura gets a cramp and Nikki fusses over her.
Robinsons
Nikki helps Laura to the sofa. Laura tells Nikki to stop fussing - she's been driving her nuts for weeks. Nikki goes off to the library, hurt. Laura says she's always been independent and doesn't want to stop now.
(Later)
Helen shows Laura two (hideous!!) dresses she has bought. Laura tells Helen that she thinks she's been a bit rough on Nikki, but the MS is less trouble than Nikki is! She starts talking about death. She hopes that it'll just be like fading back into nature. Helen urges her to talk to Nikki.
Helen invites Laura to come to lunch with her and Grace, but she says she's got some letters to write.
Grace's hotel room
Laura rings Grace and says she wants to meet her before she has lunch with Helen today. They agree to meet at the pub in an hour.
The Pub
Grace comes in and sits at a table with Laura. Laura tells Grace that she doesn't want to see Helen get hurt - she'll find out about her and Bill if Grace isn't careful. Laura tells her she was stupid to put flowers on Bill's grave.
GRACE: I loved the man!
Grace says Helen and bill were foolish for marrying so young. One time Helen was away and there was a party. Grace and Bill drank too much and spent a night together. Bill loved Helen too much though, he wasn't interested in Grace. So Grace went to London to try to put it behind her. But now she's back she just wants to lay ghosts to rest. Laura says that sooner or later Helen will put two and two together - Grace must leave immediately. Grace says she'll think about it.
Robinsons
Nikki is studying at the table when Laura comes to talk to her. She says she knows the effort Nikki is making and apologises for the way she spoke to her that morning. Laura says she can't take things easier though - she wants to keep active. They make up in principle though.
A road
Laura is walking by a park and sees Helen sitting on a bench. Grace apparently cancelled their lunch, having been called away. She has left Helen a note to explain, and Helen has recognised the handwriting - it's the same as the handwriting on the card with the flowers. Laura says she's jumping to conclusions.
HELEN: Do you know something about this?
She wants to know what's going on. Laura says that Grace was fond of Bill. Helen says that the card reads, "with everlasting love". Laura said that Grace always carried a torch for Bill. Helen tells Laura she wants to know everything - she knows there's more to it than that.
HELEN: Laura, what aren't you telling me? Did Grace have an affair with my husband?
Laura's face says it all.
