As the residents' meeting continues, Susan is in disbelief over Terese's admission, while Paul stands by. Moira arrives late to the meeting and takes her seat among the residents.
TERESE: I accidentally reversed my car into the gas meter, and it caused the leak.
SUSAN: Why didn't you say something before?
TERESE: Because when I drove the car, I was drunk.
The residents let out a collective gasp!
TERESE: I take total responsibility. I'm so sorry - I really, really am.
Karl blunders in at this point with Harold, freshly returned from his trip to Port Douglas, both unaware of what's just happened - but they soon realise something is very wrong...

Cara insists to Remi that she wasn't going behind her back in speaking to Aaron about their baby plans; she had tried to talk to Remi about it after the Halloween party, but Remi was too tired from work.
CARA: I only used Aaron as a sounding board.
REMI: Well, if we didn't use an anonymous donor, what would we do?
CARA: Maybe a known donor? I'm not sure. I just think it's worth talking through all of our options.
REMI: It just sounds like Felix's offer was the catalyst.
CARA: The catalyst, yeah, but not the solution. Maybe we do end up using a sperm bank, I don't know.
At this point JJ and Dex walk in, and immediately sense the tension in the room. Cara asks them how they would feel about Felix moving back into the street.
DEX: Well, what do you guys think?
REMI: We can see that it would be good for Felix and Andrew. If you two are comfortable with it we won't stand in the way.
CARA: But we were very clear. We are taking our lead from you two.
DEX: I mean, I'm okay with it if JJ's okay with it.
JJ: I guess we say 'yeah', then.
But JJ still looks worried about whatever they've just walked in on.

After the meeting has wound up, Terese tells Paul he doesn't have to stay, but he replies that he isn't going anywhere. Harold approaches and apologises to Terese for not being here for her when she was having such a hard time, but Terese assures him she wasn't exactly forthcoming about needing help. Susan and Karl join them, and seem much less sympathetic.
SUSAN: How long have you been drinking?
PAUL: Err, is that really important right now?
SUSAN: Yes.
TERESE: A few weeks.
SUSAN: So, this recent behaviour - the sleeping pill, the mood swings - that was all the drinking? That wasn't Paul?
Terese confirms this, and when Susan asks if Paul knew, Terese steps in, saying that nobody knew about her drinking except Nell, who caught her, but Terese convinced her not to tell anyone.
TERESE: I thought I had it under control.
SUSAN: You know that's not how it works.
PAUL: Oh, ease up, Susan!
KARL: Paul!
HAROLD: Please remember we're all on the same side here.
TERESE: No, it's fine. Susan can say what she needs to say.
SUSAN: I know what you've been through, and I would never, ever judge you for relapsing. But the way you've handled this... you manipulated Nell to cover for you. You endangered the lives of the people in our care. You almost killed Gino. And then you lied about it! Would you even have bothered to come forward if the driver hadn't been dismissed?
Susan says she'll have to let the driver know, and the police, and the insurance company.
TERESE (upset): No, I can do it!
SUSAN: No - no, Terese. Karl and I will handle this.
TERESE: Of course. I'm so sorry.
Terese rushes out in tears. Paul glares at Susan and then follows Terese out. Karl tries to comfort Susan, who is also very upset.
In the courtyard, Terese emerges to find Moira and a gaggle of resident extras talking about her.
MOIRA: Here she comes.
TERESE: Moira, I...
MOIRA: Shame on you. It's just not good enough!
Terese walks through the crowd of pensioners and out the other side, looking very distressed.

The Varga- Murphys have summoned Andrew to tell him that the family has no objection to Felix moving in. Andrew thanks them, saying Felix will be 'stoked'. He invites them to a barbecue tonight to celebrate Felix's return; Holly will be joining them as well. Cara doesn't look overly keen but Remi says they'll be there. Andrew leaves, and Cara sends the boys to go and get ready while she makes a caesar salad!
Once the boys are gone...
CARA: Are we really gonna go while we're fighting?
REMI: We're not fighting. I'm just trying to get my head around what you said, that's all.
CARA: It sounds like you don't believe me.
REMI: I just think there's more to it. Maybe even more than you realise.
CARA: You think on some subconscious level, I want Felix to be the donor for our next kid? Even though we both said no?
REMI: I think the timing of you wobbling over an anonymous donor is strange.
CARA: We're not even ready to start the process yet. These are all hypotheticals.
REMI (annoyed): Can we just go to the barbecue?
As Remi walks out, JJ wanders in again to get his phone; he's overheard the tail end of the conversation.
JJ: Hey - everything is not okay with you and Ma at the moment.
CARA: It will be. Unless, of course, she reignites the argument over how many eggs go in a caesar salad.

In the office, Susan is on the phone to the linen delivery driver, informing him he wasn't responsible for the gas leak after all. She promises to speak to his employers too, saying he should be reinstated immediately. But he hangs up on her before she finishes the sentence.
Karl and Harold have been listening in. Harold promises to try to get some of the more critical residents to be a little more compassionate to Terese's plight. Karl can't believe they all missed her having relapsed, saying it never occurred to him that the bottles he found belonged to Terese. An angry Paul comes in.
PAUL: You know, I hope you're really proud of yourself, Susan.
HAROLD: Ah, now, Paul...
PAUL: You are not supposed to make an addict feel shame.
SUSAN: I'm aware of that, Paul. It doesn't change the fact that she did the wrong thing. And so did you!
PAUL: Oh, really? How?
SUSAN: You enabled her! Terese needed an intervention, not an alibi.
PAUL: The damage had already been done. I did not want Terese throwing her life away on something that she couldn't change!
SUSAN: She could've come to me!
PAUL: Oh, really, and where were you, hey? I asked you weeks ago to keep an eye on her, so that I could keep my distance.
SUSAN: I tried!
PAUL: Oh, yeah, but you had more important people to focus on, didn't you?
KARL: Oh, that's enough!
PAUL: No (...) Is that why her AA sponsor missed the fact that she fell off the wagon?
KARL: We all missed her symptoms, mate! Including you, Paul.
Paul's demeanour changes.
PAUL (guilty): Yeah, I did - I did. I had concerns well before I found Terese that night. And I could've said something - I should've said something. But I was too concerned about overstepping. So if anyone's to blame for this, it's me. I... she won't even let me take responsibility for it.
Paul walks out, upset. Susan is close to tears.

In the garden, Felix, Holly, Andrew, Remi, Cara, Dex and JJ are gathered for the barbecue. Andrew raises a toast to Felix.
ANDREW: So glad that you're here to stay, mate.
Holly suggests that Felix make a 'moving ex- con speech' for the occasion.
FELIX: Yeah, nah, I think I'll pass. But I do want to say, thanks everyone, for giving me a second chance. Pretty excited to start a real life here.
While Holly tends to the barbecue, Remi asks Cara where the caesar salad is. Cara realises she's left it at home, and is about to go and get it - but Remi tetchily informs her that she shouldn't bother, as eggs shouldn't be left out that long anyway. Dex and JJ, who are at the other end of the garden, have noticed their mums looking troubled again. Dex asks JJ what he thinks is wrong with them.
JJ: You know how they can get over caesar salad.
We rejoin the barbecue after sunset. Andrew gets a call from Susan, to tell him about Terese's confession. Meanwhile, Felix asks JJ and Dex if he can join them on a sofa. Dex goes to get a drink, to give Felix and JJ a chance to talk.
FELIX: Hey, uh... I owe you an apology, for what I said to you when you came to see me in prison.
JJ: ... I'm guessing that you weren't in the best headspace when you said that.
FELIX: That's no excuse. You didn't deserve to be rejected like that, and... I'm really sorry.
JJ: Well, it seems like you've come a really long way from being that guy.
FELIX: Yeah. That guy sucked.
JJ (laughs): Yeah.
FELIX: I'm not gonna bulldoze my way into your life. We can be family, or mates, or just a couple of neighbours who nod to each other in the street. Whatever you're comfy with. I'm just grateful to have another shot at getting to know you.
JJ nods and smiles. But meanwhile, another tense conversation is taking place between Cara and Remi. Remi is still annoyed about Cara forgetting the caesar salad, ostensibly, but when Cara challenges her to admit that isn't the real problem, Remi walks out of the party.
DEX (to JJ): That is definitely more than a caesar salad.
Harold's Café
Terese is at a table when a sympathetic- looking Krista turns up; Paul has told her what's happened.
KRISTA: Do you want to talk about it?
TERESE: Every time I open my mouth today, I seem to make everything worse.
KRISTA: Do you have a detox plan?
TERESE: I've gone to AA before, so I'll just do that again.
KRISTA: Have you considered rehab?
TERESE (upset): If I... if I go to that, it just means that my addiction's got worse. It means that it's slipped completely beyond my control.
KRISTA: You're living with a lifelong disease. And some flare- ups are gonna be worse than others. That doesn't make you weak. It just means that maybe you might need a bit more help to get through it.
Terese nods, accepting this, and asks for the number of the rehab facility that David set Krista up with to help her through her drug addiction. Krista says she'll go one better and call the facility herself on Terese's behalf. They hold hands, and Krista goes to make the call, exchanging a smile with an incoming Paul as she leaves. Paul then sits down to join Terese.
PAUL: That looked like a positive conversation.
TERESE: So, umm... I've taken your advice after all. I'm going to rehab.
Now it's Paul's turn to hold Terese's hand as she gets emotional.

Remi is sulking on the couch when Cara comes in.
REMI: This whole Felix- as- a- donor thing is just... a bit much.
CARA: Yeah, well, for me as well. Which is why I don't want him to be our donor.
Remi nods in acknowledgement of this, but still seems upset.
REMI: I think we're just both a bit sensitive right now. It certainly didn't take much for me to go from zero to a hundred today. It's only gonna get worse with him being on the street.
CARA: So, what, you think we should go back on our decision?
REMI: No. He deserves to live with his family. And JJ deserves to get to know him.
CARA: So what *are* you saying?
REMI: ... I think we should put our plans on hold. I think we should be in a better place.
CARA: Postpone... well, for how long?
REMI: Honestly, I don't know.
We pan across to JJ listening from behind a wall. He looks concerned at what he's heard.

In the office, Susan, Karl and Harold seem to be having a crisis meeting when Terese comes in. She tells them about her chat with Krista last tonight; Krista's organised for Terese to go into rehab this afternoon.
SUSAN: That's wonderful.
TERESE: Oh, and Andrew's been in touch. I'm going over to the police station after this meeting to make a formal statement.
SUSAN: I've spoken to the insurers. We're still covered.
KARL: Yes, and the delivery driver got his job back.
TERESE: Oh, yeah. I'm really sorry that I made such a mess of everything. So last night, I spent some time working on a plan for a way for us to move forward.
KARL: Yes, we've been discussing that as well.
SUSAN: ... You need to step down.
TERESE: Yes. Yes, of course. I'll put my leave of absence in immediately. Susan, if you wouldn't mind taking over my duties, that would be wonderful.
But Susan, Karl and Harold are all glancing at one another sombrely. Terese asks what's going on.
SUSAN: You need to *resign*.
We cut to Terese doing a second walk of shame through the courtyard, this time with a box of her belongings, including the cactus that Paul bought her. Once again, Moira and extras are on hand to glare at her as she goes - but Paul is waiting for her at the exit. He takes the box off her hands, and she takes his arm, looking tearful as they walk towards the car.
Back in the office, Susan is looking guilty and Karl reassures her.
KARL: Hey - we had no choice.
SUSAN: Hmm. Why do I feel like Judas, then?
Karl offers to cancel his trip to Europe to stay and support Susan, saying that he's sure Mike will understand. But Susan thinks she can handle things here, especially with Harold back to help with the residents.
SUSAN: Besides, depriving you of roaring around Europe with Mike is not gonna help me feel any less guilty.
KARL: Well, Terese will thank you. In time. If anyone can restore the trust around here, it's you.
SUSAN: I hope so.
Ramsay Street
JJ comes out of No 30 to collect the mail. Across the road, he sees Felix getting out of a taxi and hugging Andrew, who is welcoming him home. As Andrew and Felix head into No 26 together, JJ looks deeply conflicted.
Lassiter's Complex
Terese comes out of the police station and updates Paul and Krista - she's had to surrender her driving licence and will face a large fine. She may also need an interlock (an in- car breathalyser) when she does drive again.
KRISTA: I'm really proud of you. If you need to talk while you're away, call me. Doesn't matter the time.
TERESE: Thank you.
KRISTA: Good luck, Terese.
Krista leaves her to talk to Paul.
TERESE: I can see now why you wanted to spare me from all this.
PAUL: I just wish you'd let me. But then, you always were the better of the two of us, weren't you?
TERESE (crying): No, I'm not now. I'm just a monster. How could I let it get this bad?
PAUL: Oh, Terese. No, it's not all your fault. I was the one that left you alone when you needed me most. God, I'm so sorry.
He hugs Terese as she sobs.
Ramsay Street
Paul is with Terese as the taxi pulls up to take her to the rehab facility. They talk as the driver loads her bags into the boot.
TERESE: Listen, what you said the other night... that you loved me...
PAUL: No, no. I don't want you to think about that right now.
TERESE: But Paul...
He holds her hands.
PAUL: Hey, hey. That can wait. And so can I.
He smiles at her, and she looks somewhat reassured. Terese gets into the taxi and Paul waves her off, sighing deeply as she drives away.
Lassiter's Lake
JJ is sitting on the bench at the rotunda, looking very upset. It transpires that he's been waiting for Felix, who soon arrives.
FELIX: Hey, mate. Happy to get your text.
But he soon sees how downcast JJ looks, and asks if everything's okay.
JJ (upset): I want you to know that I really do think you've changed for the better... and that I would still... I'd still really like to get to know you. But...
Seemingly on the edge of tears, JJ struggles to get the next sentence out, but Felix gets the idea.
FELIX: But you don't want me on the street.
JJ (upset): When you're around, something really weird happens to my family. I only realised that last night. I'm really sorry, Felix.
FELIX: ... It's okay. I'll get my stuff from Andrew and Wendy's, and I'll go back to the tram. It's all good.
JJ: The tram's not far enough... I need you to leave Erinsborough. I'm really sorry.
Both JJ and Felix look really sad.
