Vineyard
Krista and Leo are cleaning up the mess when Vic and Nicolette arrive. She reminds them that the vineyard isn't open but they just popped in after visiting another nearby business. After Leo walks away, Nicolette asks Kirsta if he is okay (yes) before then remarking [over what they saw] "that wasn't an accident, was it?" Eventually Krista reveals he's had more order cancellations and Nicolette immediately feels sympathetic and wonders what can be done.
KRISTA: I don't know. It's looking pretty grim right now.
Number 32 (garden)
We find out why Vera wanted to buy the place (she always wanted a pool) and how she manged to afford it (she inherited money from a relative). The unawares Byron enters the garden ready to party and wonders why his housemates have invited Vera!
VERA: Hello lovely. I'm your new landlord!
Cue very polite responses and Byron whispering to the others why Vera is in their pool! The fact Vera is planning on putting a gate in to allow her easy access to the pool has the tenants freaked out, so Mackenzie puts on her lawyer had to point out to Vera doing that would violate the terms of their lease agreement! Vera quickly replies back that she will write up a new one which will include in it her pool visits!
VERA: Now, if you're not up for it, feel free to move on. I won't have a problem finding other tenants, let me tell you!
Vineyard
Leo apologises to Krista for going off on one. She admits that it was scary and he promises not to let it happen again. "I just don't know what to do anymore," Leo admits and even after selling #32, wonders if he's "throwing good money after bad?" Krista does her best to reassure him things will get better as well as giving him the confidence to try and turn things around.
Number 24
Vic and Nicolette return from their trip and update Jane/Aaron on the place they saw before adding that they stopped in past the vineyard to see Leo and that they are worried about him. Aaron thought things would be better with selling the house but with the poisoning, everyone is scared to buy his stuff. Vic subtly asks questions about the vineyard before Nicolette sends him off to clean up head of dinner.
Somewhere (next day)
Melanie is getting ready for service when someone (Logan) drops by and when he advises her on how best to cut up pineapples, finds himself hired for the morning!
Number 24
Byron is so taken by Vera being back at #32, that he isn't paying too much attention to his dad/sister about potential businesses. Vic suddenly seems quite interested in buying the vineyard (although Nicolette thinks he is more delusional after having a touch of the cold!) but he thinks they could return a good profit on it if they buy now at a cheap price. They don't think Leo would sell cheap as he is not just their friend but family too, so Vic wonders if he'd be interested in a partnership with them. The kids seem up for it but don't know if Leo would be interested, so Vic plans on being the one to chat with him.
Number 32 (garden)
With Haz and Vera doing a version of aqua aerobics in the pool, Krista asks if their landlord knows "the concept of boundaries?!"
MACKENZIE: Oh, she understands… she just doesn't care!
Byron can't stand the music being played and wants Vera gone! Turns out the music is part of Haz's "perfect plan" to get rid of Vera. Haz's plan to pee in the pool and offend Vera backfires when she reveals she's peed twice that day!
BYRON: You were saying…
Somewhere
It sounds like Melanie has had a blast doing the music festivals from what she tells Logan. He is curious to know why her partner isn't helping, so she tells him about David and that he died.
Number 24
Nicolette comes out of her room to see Aaron going through David's clothes. Jane thinks he's ready to get rid of them now and warns Nicolette not to crowd Aaron when she goes to move from the kitchen to where he is in the living room.
"This seems big," she gently says to Aaron when she gets to him. Aaron agrees and adds that it's a job he's been putting off "for too long." However, Aaron isn't getting rid of the clothes as he isn't "ready to lose it just yet."
AARON: One step at a time.
JANE: We're proud of you Aaron. Even just realising that buying #32 wasn't the right call, you seem clearer.
NICOLETTE: You've come so far in the last couple of weeks.
AARON: Let's keep it going, hey?
Vineyard
Leo is making some calls trying to offload his stock by offering a big discount when Vic drops by - Leo wasn't amused at Vic overhearing the conversation and commenting that isn't the best way to do business. After apologising for his comments, Vic then tells Leo that he has a good business and wonders how he'd "feel about taking on a partner?" "That's never been part of the plan," a surprised Leo eventually replies back and Vic knows that the idea of having one was something Leo probably never thought about or need!
Given that Leo knows he is ill, he wonders what Vic's game is and hears that the investment would be for Byron and Nicolette so that they are set up for life.
VIC: Your vineyard could be it. If you had the help of my kids and my money, you wouldn't be flogging your merchandise at cost price. So… shall we discuss?
Number 32
Vera is more than making herself at home in the pool much to the annoyance of the tenants! They are trying to come up with a plan to get rid of her but so that she can't kick them out of the house either! The plan is Byron having a chat with Vera but he isn't up for doing that and is relived to get away from the discussions after getting a text to go and see his dad.
Somewhere
Logan is telling Melanie about life on fruit farms and the nomadic life as they talk a walk along some beach.
Vineyard
Krista has heard about Vic's plan and that Leo is actually open to it!
Number 24
Vic is telling the kids (and Jane) about the plan he's proposed to Leo - all 3 of them would be in the deal, not just Byron/Nicolette… well that is until he dies where they'd then take over the "Stone stake in the business." The kids are more than up for it and even Jane is calling it "exciting."
Vineyard
Krista is curious to know what made Leo change his mind about wanting a partner especially given he turned down her help. "That was completely different," he cites as "this isn't a bailout, it's a business deal" and is willing to put up with working Nicolette/Byron as it will help "shoulder the load" and he admits "that's kind of something I wish I had right now."
KRISTA: Are you sure that you're not just blinded by the money?
LEO: Yeah, I'm not gonna lie, the money helps but it'll also get me out of this hole and help me expand. Well, it's a good option. This could change everything!
Number 24
Until the deal is signed, Vic doesn't want Nicolette/Byron contacting Leo as they "have to keep emotion out of this." Given the sorry state Yorokobi is in, Jane hopes he doesn't "act lie a vulture picking over a corpse" and Byron is of the same mindset too especially given Leo is family. "We are in the driver's seat here," Vic reminds everyone and "would be fools if we didn't take advantage of that."
Number 32 (garden)
Mackenzie and Haz try just about everything to get rid of Vera but she isn't budging. Given the nice tactics aren't working, Mackenzie goes in guns blazing now, telling Vera to "take the hint" that "this is our house, it's our pool and you can't use it whenever you want!"
MACKENZIE: You have to leave now!
Vera is not amused to how she's been spoken to and before she can get in about replacing them, Mackenzie points out to her that they "know our rights" and lets it be known that Vera has "already breached them."
MACKENZIE: If we take you to VCAT, you will lose!
VERA: I know when I'm not wanted. I'll see myself out.
Vera then goes to leave but before she does, she issues them a "be prepared" warning that "there's a healthy rent increase on its way."
VERA: Sorry. Nothing personal!
With news of the rent hike coming, Haz is already thinking 'damage limitation' by planning on inviting Vera over as it will be "worth it" even though you can see that Mackenzie doesn't want that to happen!
Somewhere
Having done a fair day's work, and been enjoyable company, Melanie hands Logan over his wages. Logan is just about to head off when Melanie comes up with a suggestion - she's had such a great day working with him, that she invites Logan to keep working with her as she heads back to Erinsborough. She's even suggesting that if he likes Erinsborough, he could end the nomadic life and put down roots. After thinking about it briefly, Logan is up for the adventure!
While Melanie goes off to get some snacks, Logan seems to spend a lot of time looking at the picture of David on the van.
