We cut to a Neighbours title card instead of the usual opening titles.

The Bush
David wakes up on the ground, covered in cuts and bruises. He can hear Aaron shouting for him. At the top of the cliff, Aaron and Leo decide to go down to get David, while Krista rushes off to try and get a signal to call an ambulance. David is in agony as he crawls over towards Eden who lies unconscious. He checks Eden's bruises and rolls him into the recovery position.

Outside the Holiday House
Veronica has got off the phone to Sasha. She tells Nicolette that Sasha wanted to end their marriage years ago, and he admitted that he pursued Nicolette. Veronica says all this time she was blaming Nicolette, it was the only way she could wrap her head around it.

The Bush
David tells Eden that help will be there soon. Aaron and Leo rush over and check if David is okay. He tells them to look after Eden. Aaron fusses over David, who says he's got a broken ankle but its nothing serious. He says Eden has internal bleeding, and insists they take him first. Aaron doesn't want to leave him, but David assures Aaron that he's okay.

DAVID: If you don't get Eden to a hospital soon, he will die. And I can't have that. Not again.

Aaron tells David he loves him and they kiss. Aaron says he'll be back soon to get him. Aaron and Leo lift Eden and take him away, while David lies on the ground taking deep breaths.

Lassiters Hotel
Paul and Chelsea are lying in each others arms, Chelsea asking if he wants room service. Paul wants to pretend the rest of the world doesn't exist, just for a little while. Paul falls asleep and Chelsea reaches over to Paul's phone, switching it off.

The Bush - Krista's car
Aaron and Leo put Eden in Krista's car. Aaron asks where Nicolette is but Krista doesn't know. Leo asks Krista to take Eden to the hospital. Krista tells Leo to go get his brother. Eden lies in agony at the back of the car.

EDEN: It hurts.
KRISTA: Good!

Krista starts the engine.

Outside the Holiday House
Nicolette sits with Veronica on a tree log. Nicolette admits she wanted Sasha, not at first but when they started messaging something changed. She says she didn't understand it, as she's never been into guys. She assures Veronica that nothing happened, but she's not crazy. Veronica was onto something, and Nicolette should have been honest sooner. Veronica thanks her for telling her now.

The Bush
Aaron and Leo rush over to where David fell, finding David sitting up, but not moving. Aaron tries to wake him but David isn't responding. Leo sees blood under David's jacket. Aaron tries to perform CPR but Leo says its too late. Leo starts crying, while Aaron doesn't know what else to do and starts crying too.

(Later)

Aaron and Leo carry David's body from the bottom of the cliff. They get back to the holiday house, when Nicolette sees them and tearfully asks what happened. She's devastated as they all crowd around David's body crying.

They get into the car together and drive to the hospital.

Number 22
Terese and Toadie are preparing food, tensely bickering about whether they half the strawberries or not. Andrew and Wendy look uncomfortable as they listen to this. There's a frantic knock at the door as Jane comes in. She wants a word with Terese but thinks maybe she should tell everyone at once. She tells them she got a call from Nicolette.

JANE: It seems that Eden found them and there was a fight between David and Eden and they both fell, and they were both badly injured, and David died.

Jane starts sobbing. Terese wonders about Paul, but Jane says no one can reach him. Terese rushes off saying she'll find him.

The Waterhole
Terese walks in, and finds Mackenzie, Haz and Holly talking about the sale of #32, saying David and Aaron have been really nice about it and giving them time to work out their next steps. Holly says that's the benefit of your house being bought by the sweetest couple ever. Terese approaches them and asks if they've seen Paul. Holly says she's heard some staff gossip that he could be in Room 505.

Lassiters
Paul wakes up next to Chelsea. She hands him his phone, saying she turned it off as he was sleeping so peacefully. They hear banging at the door, and Paul goes to answer it. Terese says she has awful news. She tells him there was an accident at the holiday house, and David died. Paul is confused at first, asking what she's talking about. She tells him David is gone.

Lassiters Penthouse
Paul's now dressed, and asks Terese what happened. She tells him that David got into a fight with Eden. Paul's shocked when he hears this and drops his keys. He freezes in shock. He asks where David is now, and Terese says he's been taken to the hospital. Chelsea helps pick up the keys, while Terese asks Chelsea if she can give him some space. Chelsea tells Paul she's so sorry and leaves. Terese tells Paul she'll drive him to the hospital. Paul looks at his phone and sees all the messages and missed calls he's had from Leo, Jane and Aaron. He says he never turned it back on and starts crying. Terese tells him its okay.

Erinsborough Hospital
Terese and Paul arrive, Paul hugs Leo. Krista, Jane, Nicolette and Aaron are with them. Karl arrives and tells them that David landed on a sharp object, which pierced his torso. Leo explains to Paul that David insisted they take Eden first. Leo assumes David didn't want history repeating itself after Gareth. Karl says that David's choice saved Eden's life. Eden had a ruptured spleen but he got to surgery in time. Paul asks to see his son. Karl leads him and Leo through, while Aaron stays seated crying.

Paul and Leo enter a hospital room with David's body. Paul kisses David's forehead and starts crying. He says he's so sorry.

Number 22
Wendy and Andrew are with Toadie, looking after Isla and Abigail, as we get shots of the strawberries and melted ice cream that no one has eaten. Wendy and Andrew say they're here for Toadie if this is bringing up sensitive stuff. Toadie just feels for Aaron, Isla and everyone. Terese comes home, she can't get Paul's face out of her mind. He's broken, and she doesn't know how he'll survive this. Toadie asks how she is. She can't believe David's gone, and she hugs Toadie.

Erinsborough Hospital
Nicolette tells Byron and Jane that she's hoping she'll wake up and this will have just been a horrible dream. She doesn't know how she'll tell their daughter. Jane and Byron hug her.

Paul, Aaron and Leo are sitting with David's body as Karl enters. Karl says David's body has been referred to the coroner who will have a lot to sort out. Karl says they'll need to take him now. Leo gives Paul a hug, as Paul stands up, tearfully saying 'my boy' as he looks over David. As Paul and Leo leave, Aaron stays seated. Aaron asks for a little more time. He tells Karl that Isla's made a painting for her Daddy's birthday and she's excited to show him. They were going to buy back their house, have another kid, visit New York and make a herb garden, so many things. He asks Karl for more time.

(Later)

Erinsborough Hospital
Karl brings over a box of David's things. Aaron takes David's smashed phone and opens it with the password 'boo.' He listens to a recording on the phone. We see Aaron's tearful reaction to the message, cut with shots at Number 24 of Nicolette hugging Isla, while Jane sits with her and Byron sits on the floor by the sofa. At Number 22 Leo hugs Abigail when he and Krista come to collect her, while Toadie sits cuddling with Terese, as Andrew hugs Wendy. At The Penthouse, Paul is in tears as he sits hugging a picture of David. As Aaron listens to the message, we then cut to David speaking to his phone while sitting on the ground in the bush.

DAVID: Aaron, I'm sorry. I don't want to leave Isla, I want to be with you forever. Grow old, watch Isla grow up. You have to tell her, tell her how much I love her, every day. Don't forget. Make sure they all know. And look after Leo. All of you, take care of each other. And tell Dad, I forgive him. I do. I wish I was there to tell you myself. I'm sorry Aaron. Don't be angry for what I did, I had to. It was the right thing to do. You made me so happy, the happiest. Be happy again. I love you.

Coming up on Neighbours
- Terese asks Paul to let her help him, but he thinks he doesn't deserve her help.
- Aaron wonders how he can tell Isla that her Daddy chose Eden over staying with her.
- Leo tells Terese that Paul has gone missing.
- Terese tells Toadie she's really worried about what Paul might do.

As the credits roll, we hear the sad piano Neighbours theme music.
