Lassiters Complex
Sadie catches Paul to see if there are any jobs going as she is after extra cash to cover her course fees. He tells her to send her CV in to HR but seems more interested in the tidbit she dropped about Leo and Krista going out for a drive together.
Next to catch Paul is Chelsea - she thanks him for listening to her pitch even if it didn't work out. Their conversation is interrupted when he gets a message on his phone but even that is then interrupted when he spots Terese coming out of Harolds and half- waves to her. She is unimpressed and can't get back inside quickly enough!
Harolds café
Given it appears everyone can hear everyone else's conversation in the café, Melanie takes full advantage of that by bumming up to Karl (in full ears of Terese and Toadie) how well her date with Santo went and that they are going to go out again tonight!
The Waterhole
Vera is back from her trip to Europe and is eager to show off the photos but Wendy politely declines as she is busy. However, after Vera smells her perfume, Wendy reluctantly sprays some on one of her wrists, only for Vera to take the bottle from her and spray liberally as she is "meeting someone later!"
Sadie replaces Vera at the bar to tell her parents (Andrew is there too) that she is babysitting again for Leo as Chelsea hasn't paid her yet for working on the pop- up stall.
Lassiters Complex
Chelsea walks through the complex with Terese - she is after tips on how to handle Paul! The advice Terese gives is for her to not "take anything he says or does personally!"
Cara and Remi spot the pair chatting when they too enter the complex and stop for a quick word with Chelsea after she's done talking to Terese. After Chelsea leaves, Remi is highly sceptical of the chat they had.
REMI: Since when does she confer with anyone about anything?!
Cara tries to calm Remi down and is jokingly told to "get away" because she is "a traitor!"
Number 28
"Never take date ideas from dad!" Holly warns Melanie after she and Karl return home talking about plans for her second date with Santo. Karl is pleased that things are working out for Melanie and consequently, she gets an attack of the guilt and goes to spill only for Karl to be distracted by a text from Toadie instead. Thus, she heads off to her room to prepare for her 'date' with Santo.
Number 30
After Chelsea heads off to try another pair of shoes to go with her 'power suit', Remi confronts Cara over what she sees is her giving her sister "a lot of free passes." Cara feels though she owes Chelsea "a lot" and yes, she does deserve it.
CARA: My life in high school, coming out would have been so much worse without Chelsea there. She's always had my back.
Penthouse suite
Chelsea arrives for 'round 2' with Paul only to find out that he is about to leave. He is though taken with the perfume she is wearing… probably because it's the same one Terese uses!
Their chat is interrupted when Sadie comes out with Abby and before they had off on her playdate, Sadie takes the opportunity to ask Chelsea when she's being paid for the work she did on the pop- up stall. Chelsea isn't impressed at Sadie bringing this up and politely reassures her that she told her accountant to pay her.
After Paul leaves, nasty Chelsea appears and she has a right go at Sadie for embarrassing her in front of Paul. She also backtracks on the original promise of paying at the end of the day, instead saying that Sadie would be paid within 30 days and accuses her of lying. Sadie is now the one forced into saying that perhaps she "misheard" the promise, which Chelsea doesn't contradict, and confirms that Sadie will get her money "within 30 days" along with being told "don't expect any more work from me again!"
Pavilion garden
As 'God above' plays, Melanie looks through her tarot cards before looking through her phone and after one quick look through the photos in an album entitled 'Toadie & Me' deletes it.
The Waterhole
Sadie tells her parents about what happened in her conversation with Chelsea. Neither are impressed at Chelsea going back on their deal and Wendy is so outraged that she orders Andrew home to put on his uniform!
ANDREW: I am not gonna hunt down Chelsea and I'm definitely not bringing my weapon.
WENDY: I am not asking you to tase her… just an appropriate show of authority!
The best Andrew promises to do is have a word should he bump into Chelsea, "but nothing more!"
Lassiters Complex
Terese interrupts Karl and Toadie discussing how 'meme' should be pronounced to talk about Melanie. She comments on the "good place" Melanie appears to be in and Karl continues that, by saying he's not seen her look this enthusiastic since she was with Toadie… if only they'd looked around and actually seen a very downbeat Melanie walking towards them! Thankfully she spots them first and dives behind the drinks diva before taking off in another direction out of their sightline.
The Waterhole
Wendy's pleasant smile quickly disappears when she spots Chelsea (and Cara) entering the bar. "Mum don't," Sadie calls out but too late, as Wendy rushes from behind the bar to confront Chelsea. However, it is Andrew who is the one to ask Chelsea where Sadie's money is and we hear again that she will get paid within the month. Wendy rightly reminds Chelsea of what was agreed and very begrudgingly (and more to get the Rodwell family off her back) Chelsea agrees to pay Sadie tomorrow.
Given the Rodwell's are still in the bar, Chelsea suggests to Cara they go elsewhere for a drink but before they leave, Cara wants to know what the confrontation was all about. Chelsea phrases it as she did Sadie a favour by giving the lass work and she's hassling her for money. Cara can't see why Chelsea hasn't paid Sadie and adds in that she doesn't want more run- ins with the family either!
CARA: If Sadie did the work then you should pay her.
CHELSEA: I will.
We then hear why Chelsea can't pay - she has "a tonne of overheads" made worse by not being able to trade for the whole day either. Cara isn't impressed then that Chelsea blew $1000 on a power suit but is told that the suit is "an investment."
The Waterhole
Its date night for Santo but not with Melanie but with Vera Punt instead! The fact Santo is with Vera not surprisingly, totally throws Terese when she enters the bar and when she asks Wendy what is going on, is told "it is the seeds of true love blossoming."
Number 30
Sadie calls round to collet her money from Chelsea, apologising about everyone getting involved.
After Sadie leaves, Cara has a go over how Chelsea handed things - it didn't help either that she was 'gloating' to Sadie that she was paid a day earlier than promised! Cara then demands a promise from her sister for her not to "tell Remi I lent you the money." Chelsea is more than happy to keep quiet given it is "not a great look for me either."
CARA: I mean it Chels. Not a word!
CHELSEA: Yup. Zipped up.
The Waterhole
Terese has hung around the bar all during Santo's date with Vera and they part, with a peck on the cheek and a promise from him to call tomorrow. Vera then spots she's been watched and asks Terese if she "got a look at that!" Tactfully, Terese comments that her date "seemed very nice."
VERA: Nice?! He's perfection on a stick!
TERESE: So you had fun?
VERA: Oh, not as much fun as we're gonna have! Too bad he had something else on…otherwise, it would have been me, him a hot tub and some baby oil!
Terese doesn't want any more info and asks when she's seeing Santo again. "How do you know his name?" a confused Vera asks and Terese lies over how she does know it by saying she "heard you say it in a conversation" which Vera isn't totally buying! Changing tact somewhat, Terese asks Vera about using dating apps and how you know "if it's serious or they're just wanting a hook- up?" Vera's response is she asked him front.
VERA: I told Santo I didn't want to see anyone who was seeing other people. He said the same thing.
Terese doesn't dob him in, instead telling Vera "good luck!"
VERA: You don't need luck when you got the charm, doll!
Number 30 (next day)
Remi isn't amused at the mess Chelsea has left the house in! As she relocates everything to the kitchen table, she comes across the napkin which Chelsea wrote 'Chelsea Robinson' on… and it was more than just the once that we saw her do!
Penthouse suite
Chelsea arrives with an agenda - she wants to take Paul out on a date as a thank you for his help with her pop- up stand. Paul doesn't think he's earned anything but Chelsea turns on the charm and the pair agree to go on a date!
After Chelsea leaves, Paul's good mood dissipates when he gets notification of a photograph online of Leo and Krista… he then starts putting 2+2 together over why Sadie is babysitting Abby. He asks how much her course is going to cost and her reply is she'll "be paying it off for years" and realises too that she's forgotten to send her CV in. Paul's Machiavellian brain is getting into gear again and he tells Sadie that [job wise] he might have something for her "that will earn you a lot more than you're making at the hotel."
Number 30
Cara comments on the good mood Chelsea has returned home in and hears about the date she's landed with Paul. "Paul asked you out?!" Cara asks to double check she has heard correctly, which Chelsea seems offended with given she's "quite the catch."
REMI: (interrupting) Except he didn't do the asking, did he?
"What?" Chelsea replies back with and so Remi shows her (and Cara) the napkin with the 'Chelsea Robinson' signatures all over it. Angrily, Chelsea asks if Remi was going through her things.
CHELSEA: That's really classy, Remi!
REMI: I'm not going through your personal things, I'm cleaning up your mess!
Remi then accuses Chelsea of not being here "for Cara and the boys or even to sell your perfume." Chelsea plays dumb over what Remi has said, so she is forced to spell it out.
REMI: You're here to latch on to Paul Robinson.
CHELSEA: Don't be ridiculous!
Remi wants her to explain the napkin then, which Chelsea puts down to "some stupid doodling" and in turn asks since they get on well, "so what if I like him?" Remi scoffs at that one, telling Chelsea that she doesn't like him!
REMI: You think he's short! The only thing you like about Paul is his fat wallet.
To call Chelsea's bluff, Remi plans on showing Paul the napkin!
CHELSEA: Alright. I'll admit it, my business is struggling. I owe so much money to everyone, I don't know where to start.
REMI: And Paul is your golden ticket?
"No," is the initial response but it is followed by a deathly silence before Chelsea then adds that if it makes Remi happy, she will tell Paul that she's broke. She then drops Cara in it too by mentioning the $300 borrowed from her to pay Sadie. Remi is unhappy at Cara not telling her about lending Chelsea the money and Cara's explanation for keeping quiet is she didn't "want the grief." That revelation now has Remi feeling further pushed out and Cara wants to explain things.
REMI: No, you've already explained. Chelsea's always got your back and you've always got hers. Message received!
As the 'dramatic music' continues to play, Chelsea does her very best to keep the smirk she has on her face hidden from both Cara and Remi.
