Lassiter's Complex
Music plays. Melanie watches couples Mackenzie, Haz, Aaron, David, Toadie and Terese walk happily through the complex. She looks rather forlorn.

Melanie goes to pick up a mango and is pleased to see a fruiterer Santo who is an old friend. He's glad she's purchased the van again as the last owners weren't brilliant. She enthuses over the mango. Melanie's phone beeps, Santo notes she's got a new match.

SANTO: He's a lucky guy.

Santo has divorced from his wife recently. He doesn't seem to want to talk about it but wants to hear about Melanie's experience.

MELANIE: You have to clear the muck to find the gold.
SANTO: You are the gold in this scenario. Don't you give up.

Santo orders a mango special.

No.30
Haz notes that Trevor has reclaimed his favourite sun spot. Mackenzie acknowledges things stay the same but tentatively they agree that other things change. Mackenzie isn't sure how things work out as they're together and also housemates. They're both determined to make this happen. She doesn't usually rush but they've already gone through a couple of steps. Haz hasn't dated a housemate before so they agree to make some ground rules. They agree to have separate bedrooms. They agree not to be too affectionate in the main bit of the house.

HAZ: Respecting the shared space.
MACKENZIE: Even if no one else is at home.

Drinks Divas Van
Karl has arrived to help Melanie pack away but she has it covered. He offers again then notices that Melanie is smiling as she watches Santo drinking his drink.

KARL: Unless I'm getting in the way of something.
MELANIE: That's Santo. He's my fruit guy.
KARL: He's bound to be sweet.

Melanie is considering asking Santo on a date. Karl wants to know what is getting in her way. She can't think of a reason.

Melanie goes over and he raves about her drink. She suggests getting together for dinner.

No.24
Jane doesn't want to speak too soon but is impressed the construction crew are keeping to schedule. Terese hopes that continues to be the case. Byron arrives home and is pleased Jane has left him a meat pie in the fridge. Terese tells him the site visit went well.

We hear David looking forward to the pool at the holiday house. He and Aaron debate togs when they realise they have an audience. Byron reminds them they need togs as Nicolette will be there. Jane and Terese admit to being jealous of their trip.

AARON: It's exactly what we need.

David is looking forward to taking his mind off Veronica. Aaron doesn't want to wait around and plans to ask Byron a favour.

No.30
Haz and Mackenzie are lying down kissing on the sofa. They hear a door close, Mackenzie thought Byron was eating at No.24. They decide to stay still. Byron catches them and realises what's going on.

BYRON: It's about time. Congrats.

He advises them to work out any ground rules needed. They agree. Byron heads off, Haz and Mackenzie laugh and cuddle.

No.32 Backyard
Byron finds Aaron and David in the pool, he didn't realise they would be so quick. He hopes they have fun and heads quickly inside. David and Aaron laugh. David thinks Aaron is coming up with a lot of great ideas.

AARON: I know it's not really our house but it feels like it is.

David admits he had a wobble when they first bought the house. He worried the magic would go when they settled down.

DAVID: I've never been happier to be proven wrong.
AARON: Our life together really did start here.

They've had a lot to deal with lately but Aaron feels they're making a fresh start. They kiss.

The Waterhole
Santo presents Melanie with some flowers as she arrives and tells her they're apple tree blossom. She's taken aback to see Toadie and Terese there. She thanks him and they head to the table. Toadie and Terese aren't sure if she's dating the same guy as last time. Toadie seems stunned but pleased for Melanie. Terese is more taken aback.

No.32
Mackenzie and Haz have got takeaway pizza. Haz comes in to warm up his meat pie. Mackenzie wants to know why he's gone out the back and come in the front. Byron explains David and Aaron are in the pool. He wants to know if Holly knows, they haven't had a chance yet.

BYRON: I can see you two have been very busy.

Holly knew it might happen at some stage. Byron thinks the reality might be different. Byron wants them to tell Holly rather than anyone else.

BYRON: Holly's pretty tough but I wonder how much is just for show.

The Waterhole
Santo wonders if Melanie has attended a jam party, it's possible she did in the 90s. It turns out to be a story about a strawberry jam farm. She doesn't look very enthused. He tells her about the jam party as she tries to look interested. She tells him about a sticky situation with van customers, he tries to sound interested. Melanie gets a text from Karl asking how the date is going, she ignores it. Santo looks at his watch.

No.28
Mackenzie arrives and Holly realises something is wrong. Karl gets the hint and takes himself off. Mackenzie admits to Holly that she has got together with Haz. Mackenzie wants Holly to be honest if she feels weird about it. Holly admits she's getting over Haz and she can't switch her feelings off very easily.

HOLLY: I'm really happy that you guys worked it out.

She seems genuinely pleased for Mackenzie and Haz. Mackenzie and Holly hug.

No.32 Backyard
David and Aaron are floating in the pool together. David reminisces about asking Nicolette to move in with them. David realise that that night led to starting their family. Aaron thinks it's dicey being at No.32 as the tenants don't know they plan to buy the place again.

DAVID: I feel kind of bad that we'll have to kick them out.

Aaron plans to help them find somewhere else to live. David plans to explain how much No.32 means to him and Aaron.

AARON: All of our milestones are here. We've come a long way haven't we?
DAVID: I think we've still got a long way to go. I'd love to have another baby. What do you think?

They look lovingly at each other.

No.28
Holly is watching the TV as Karl snores on the sofa. Melanie and Santo arrive home. Melanie thought they would have gone to bed as Karl wakes up. She introduces everyone. They plan to have a nightcap so Karl and Holly take themselves off. Melanie asks Santo what his favourite cocktail is. He wants a cup of tea. She suggests iced tea but agrees to English breakfast which is what he wants. There is an awkward silence. Melanie sits on the sofa. They awkwardly go to kiss but the spark isn't there. They try again but no success so they give up.

No.24
It's now the next morning and Isla is playing with her train set. David broaches the subject of asking Nicolette to be a surrogate Mum again. Aaron is happy to discuss it with her. They are happy to consider other options if necessary including fostering.

DAVID: I would consider anything knowing that you want this too.

No.22
Terese answers the door to Jane, Jane is nearly ready to leave. Toadie needs to give Terese her site warming kit first. It includes deluxe dark mint chocolate, Jane wants some too, fortunately there is some for Jane as well!

TOADIE: Now if I had to wear heels all day, I'd be wanting to take them off as soon as I sat down.

He has also provided some fluffy slippers. This hasn't occurred to Terese before now. There's also some noise cancelling headphones. Jane is impressed with Toadie's thoughtfulness. Terese is very touched and thanks Toadie with a kiss and a hug. He can't wag as he needs to go to work today. They agree to meet for a coffee later and Toadie heads off. Terese admits to Jane Toadie might have gone a bit overboard. He's tried to make the work day less stressful because of what's happening with Melanie. Melanie wasn't meant to stay here for a long time, Jane points out Melanie is still recuperating.

TERESE: It's the way she looks at him and the way he reacts when she looks at him.

Terese can't put her finger on it but isn't completely comfortable with the way Melanie looks at him.

No.32
Haz and Mackenzie are having a snack and drink and playing footsie. Byron comes cautiously in unsure if it's safe to enter! Mackenzie promises they're following the house rules.

MACKENZIE: You're not going to walk in on anything again.

Byron helps himself to Mackenzie's snack. Mackenzie tells Byron that things are fine with Holly. Haz realises they shouldn't rub Holly's nose in it. They'll keep PDA to themselves. There's an awkward moment as Mackenzie catches Byron's foot by mistake then they all start laughing.

Harold's Cafe
Melanie and Santo are in good humour as they agree it's not a good idea to date each other! They gave it a good attempt and realised it wasn't meant to be. They agree to be fruit friends. Santo heads off.

Jane arrives, she needs a coffee as the first one hasn't helped. Jane is pleased that Melanie is seeing Santo again. Melanie is bemused why Jane is so pleased about it.

JANE: Great news for everyone that we're moving on.
MELANIE: My love life is now public property that everyone keeps tabs on.

Melanie notices that Jane's 'everyone' actually means Toadie and Terese. Jane admits that Terese is nervous about Melanie staying around longer than planned. Melanie would leave if it was possible but she's still recovering. Jane understands that and tells her Toadie and Terese are also understanding. Jane tells her that Toadie and Terese will be ok about things now Santo has come into Melanie's life.

JANE: Seeing you move on is probably all that they need.

The Waterhole
Holly arrives and orders her usual drink. Holly notices Byron is drinking coffee when he lives with Haz! Byron is feeling like a third wheel around Haz and Mackenzie. Byron wants Holly to be honest about how she feels about it. She admits it sucks that Mackenzie have more to their relationship than Holly and Haz did, Byron understands. He tells her about David and Aaron in the pool. It's not due to him missing Reece.

BYRON: I feel like I'm surrounded by all these happy couples.
HOLLY: You're pretty safe here.

Harold's Cafe
Melanie wants to set the record straight with Terese. Melanie thinks that Terese is ruing asking for Melanie to stay at No.28. Terese meant it to be a short term solution and it's become longer than that.

TERESE: That wouldn't be a problem if you weren't still in love with Toadie.
MELANIE: I'm dating, I'm trying to move on.
TERESE: It's the trying that I'm worried about. Where's the guarantee that you will?

Terese wants Melanie to get where she's coming from. Melanie tells her that their date went great the night before. She's happy about their potential relationship together.
