Lassiters Complex
Reece wants to freshen up then head back to the hospital with Byron so she can properly introduce him to Krista. Paul saunters over and says he's glad to hear Eden's in custody “where he belongs”. Reece quips that's where Paul belongs too. Paul says he's not alone in keeping secrets - she didn't tell anyone about her search for Krista. But Reece says there's no way he can compare the two.

PAUL: All I'm saying is the moral high ground can be a very slippery slope.
REECE: Look, the difference is I didn't break the law.

When Paul leaves, Reece gets an upsetting phone call from Tess letting her know her father's had a massive stroke. “I have to go home,” Reece tells Byron.

Number 32
Mackenzie arrives home and is alarmed when Holly appears clad only in Haz's t- shirt. Holly happily explains to Mack that Krista sent her a really nice text, then Haz was being lovely to her.

HOLLY: Then it was just on. Like really on. Really, really on. We definitely need to do some carb loading now.
MACKENZIE: Woah, okay.
HOLLY: Manifestation. It totally works. I knew that I could get Haz if I just set my mind to it.

Mackenzie's mind explodes a little further when Haz saunters out in his dressing gown looking for Holly. Mack can only stare in horror as the two new lovebirds tuck into some leftover pizza.

The Waterhole
Dex is helping Cara build something for the pub and claims the instructions were written by Satan. JJ hangs up from a phone call with Remi, awkwardly explaining that she didn't have time to chat to anyone else. JJ still blames himself for his parents' issues, but Cara reminds him it's not his fault. She then sets the boys to work with the promise of a burger as a reward, but Dex isn't in the mood anymore to assist. With a shrug, Cara opens a box with a Stanley knife before setting it aside.

Number 32
Holly notices Mackenzie listening to music in her earbuds and plucks one from her ear. “Did you put those in because of us?” Holly chuckles. But Mackenzie claims she was merely trying to concentrate on work. Holly's just stoked that she's finally broken the Hoyland curse. She's been so worried about inheriting her mother's “bad taste in trash men”, but Haz is a decent guy. Mackenzie half- heartedly agrees and then asks if this means Holly wants more than a one- off thing with Haz. “Well, yeah!” Holly smiles. “I hope so. I know I'm 100 per cent all in.” She invites Mack to hang out with her and Sadie later, but Mack makes up an excuse so she doesn't have to go.

Erinsborough Hospital
Reece (along with Byron) is visiting Krista to update her on their father's health. Krista wants to go back to the US with Reece, but Reece reminds her she's still going through withdrawals. Krista is upset because they've only just found each other, so Reece asks Byron to keep an eye on her sister while she's gone.

REECE: I'll make sure you get the best possible care.
KRISTA: I can't even remember the last time I told dad that I loved him.
REECE: Yeah, I'm not sure I can either.
KRISTA: All this time I've wasted. Why did I do that?
REECE: (gently) You have to pay attention to your recovery. Just do whatever the doctors tell you to so that you can regain your strength, mentally and physically. Promise me, okay?

Number 24
David arrives back just as Aaron wraps up a phone call with Chloe. Aaron says Jane and Nic have taken the girls to the park, then lays it on thick and says Jane will really miss Isla when they leave. David sighs and says he's not having another conversation about moving back. Aaron reminds him how nice it is to have Leo and Abigail so close too, but David retorts that they can always visit.

AARON: It's just not the same as being around the corner from each other, is it?
DAVID: Our lives have moved on. I'm not going to keep going around and around on this.

Erinsborough Hospital
Reece walks the halls with Byron and apologises if she put him on the spot before about keeping an eye on Krista. Byron says it was okay, but he also kind of thought he'd accompany Reece to the US. Reece says she'd love to have him there, but the reality is it's going to be chaotic as soon as she lands. “And knowing you're here with her will be a huge comfort to me,” she adds. Byron smiles and says he understands just as Reece gets an important call from the Berlin office.

Harold's Cafe
Sadie tells Holly how amazing she is for finding Krista then says they should celebrate with Mackenzie. Holly can't help breaking into a grin when she tells Sadie she's already celebrated a lot with Haz. When Sadie realises that Holly and Haz hooked up, she can't help looking alarmed. Holly takes this to mean Sadie isn't on board with the idea, but Sadie claims she's just taking it all in. Holly then muses that Mackenzie wasn't entirely on board either.

HOLLY: Maybe she thought that Haz was taking advantage of me?
SADIE: Oh, I doubt it would be that.
HOLLY: Yeah. Well then it's the Eden stuff. She's all anti- men. I know, we should find her someone really great.
SADIE: Very bad idea.
HOLLY: No, we can find her like a really great guy. Someone really lovely and decent. Just like the perfect guy for her.
SADIE: Well that's going to be awkward because they perfect guy for her was the one you hooked up with.

Holly's face drops.

Number 32
Mackenzie is startled when Holly walks in, apologising that she never would have hooked up with Haz if she'd known Mack liked him too. Mackenzie pretends she has no idea what she's talking about but Holly says Sadie told her.

MACKENZIE: She should not have done that.
HOLLY: Well it was only because I was banging on about hooking you up with a random. I am not gonna be that girl. I am not gonna move in on a guy you like.
MACKENZIE: I think Sadie's blowing this a little bit out of proportion. I mean, that's what she does. She is a total romantic.
HOLLY: Okay, so you're not into Haz?
MACKENZIE: He's great. And I mean, I thought once, maybe.
HOLLY: There you go!
MACKENZIE: But then I lost Hendrix's rings. And it brought up a lot of old stuff, and I realised I'm not in the right headspace to date anyone.
HOLLY: Well I'm gonna back off until you are.
MACKENZIE: I can't put a reserve on another human just in the hopes that one day I'll be ready.
HOLLY: I live my whole life trying not to be my mother. I am not gonna move in on someone else's man. Even on on lay- buy.
MACKENZIE: Are you having second thoughts for any other reason?
HOLLY: No.
MACKENZIE: Then I think you should go for it.
HOLLY: No.
MACKENZIE: Hey, you're my friends. I want you both to be happy.

Lassiter's Hotel
In the office, Paul finds out the news about Conrad from Chloe, who then wonders what this will mean for Lassiters. “Well if the old boy does cark it hopefully it'll send [Reece] packing for good,” Paul bluntly replies.

CHLOE: Sensitive as ever.
PAUL: Yeah, well she is quite attached to Byron. And I can't see that drug addict sister of hers going anywhere anyway.

Paul doesn't want to assume this could mean good news for the hotel, but it might be. Chloe doesn't look as certain.

Out in the reception area, Byron follows Reece as she wraps up yet another business phone call. Byron wonders if Tess can't handle more things for her, but Reece says she's got power of attorney now so she's in charge of everything. Chloe approaches them and introduces herself to Reece, saying how sorry she was to hear about Conrad. Chloe then asks if she can arrange a car to the airport for Reece, but Byron says he's going to drive her. Reece then sends Byron on an errand before heading upstairs to pack, which Chloe observes with an odd look.

The Waterhole
Dex sits at a table while Cara and JJ work on building a shelf. Cara asks JJ if he wants to spend some time with his Pa and Cousin Trav next school holidays. But JJ soon realises his mum and ma just thought he might like some more “male guidance” in his life “so you can do blokey stuff together”. JJ points out that building shelves isn't exactly “getting our nails done”. Cara smirks and says they just wanted to be certain he didn't feel like he was missing out on anything.

JJ: It's not like that. I just wanted to find out more about where I came from. Right? And this guy's half my DNA. You can't blame me for being curious.
CARA: No. And we don't. Honestly, we don't blame you for anything. It's just that…

Cara doesn't finish her thought because she accidentally rests her hand on the Stanley knife and cuts it. JJ goes to see if there's a first aid kit, but luckily David and Aaron have just arrived and David goes right into doctor mode. He tells Cara to apply pressure to her hand and asks if he can check it out.

Lassiters Hotel
Reece emerges from the elevator with her luggage and reminisces on the time spent in there with Byron. Chloe has a chat with her and is surprised when Reece says she would like a car to the airport after all in one hour's time. Obliging, Chloe takes Reece's luggage behind the front counter while Reece stares at Paul's portrait down the hall.

The Waterhole
David bandages Cara's hand and says the wound is only superficial so she won't need stitches. “How lucky am I to have a doctor on hand right when I need one,” Cara smiles. David doesn't correct her, instead telling her to keep an eye on the cut. She asks if he's a GP, but David vaguely says he doesn't work in general practice before making his way back to Aaron. But Cara follows him, eager to share some information.

CARA: I just thought I'd mention my wife is also a doctor. Remi Varga- Murphy. She just started at the hospital, so you might see her around.
DAVID: We don't live locally. We're just visiting.
CARA: Oh, bummer. Okay, well in that case, enjoy your stay. And it was nice meeting you, Doctor.
AARON: (after Cara leaves) Why does she think you're still practising?
DAVID: Because she made an assumption and I didn't feel the need to tell a complete stranger that I was deregistered for medical manslaughter.

Harold's Cafe
Haz is stunned to learn from Byron that Reece is leaving for the US. He asks how Byron's dealing with everything. Byron says it's okay because he knows it won't be forever. Once Krista's settled into rehab he can fly over to be with Reece. Then the sooner Conrad gets better, the sooner he and Reece can get on with their lives. Talk then turns to what Haz has been up to, and he tells Byron he hooked up with Holly.

BYRON: What are you going to do?
HAZ: I don't know. I mean, it was definitely fun.
BYRON: It's a start.
HAZ: Holly's a mate, you know. We always have a great time together. And she likes Trevor so it won't be a repeat of what happened with Billie.
BYRON: That's your biggest deal breaker taken care of right there.
HAZ: I guess so. I mean, I guess I could just see where it goes?

The Waterhole
Dex takes his mum's toolkit out to her car while they wait for their lunch. Cara hands JJ her iPad and shows him the profile for his sperm donor. JJ wonders why as they've already read through it before.

JJ: Donor 85792, plays college basketball. He's in graduate school working to obtain a master's degree in engineering. So how come I suck at maths?
CARA: Yeah. Sorry. Must have got that from me.
JJ: I'm pretty good as basketball, though.
CARA: Look how cute his little baby photo is. You've totally got his nose.
JJ: Was I that bald?
CARA: Absolutely.
JJ: Some of this stuff I've forgotten.
CARA: So can I point out the most important part? Donor 85792 is one of our friendliest and most considerate donors. He's smart and inquisitive, but also kind hearted and generous. We know he'll go far in life. And that's the truth of why me and Ma picked this guy, because he sounded like an all- round decent human being. And he's absolutely passed that on to you.
JJ: Thanks. It is good to know this stuff.

Cara reminds him he can talk about it at any time with his mums. JJ asks if his Ma might be home soon. Cara nods and says one hundred per cent.

Lassiters Complex
Reece sits on the steps by the pond and reminisces about all her wonderful moments with Byron - and some not- so- wonderful, as she remembers Tess telling her the relationship will have to end once Krista is found. Reece stands up when Paul walks over. He gives her his sympathies and says he hopes Conrad will pull through.

REECE: Do you?
PAUL: Yes. I lost my father way too soon. I wouldn't wish that on anyone.
REECE: Well your sympathy means very little after what you did to my sister.
PAUL: Yeah. I hope she recovers too.
REECE: Do you know what I hope? That you end up in jail. But no matter what, my family owns part of this hotel now

Byron brings Reece a coffee and she bids Paul a frosty goodbye.

Number 32
Sadie asks Holly and Mackenzie if they wanted to see a movie that night, but Holly says she was thinking about hanging with Haz. “Or we could go to the movies because friends come first,” she quickly amends. But Mack says she doesn't have to feel bad - she already told Holly to go for it. Haz arrives home and greets them all, giving Holly an extra smile. Mack encourages Holly to go and check in with him. “You're the best, you know that?” Holly tells Mackenzie, before following Haz into the laundry.

HOLLY: I was just hanging out with Sadie and Mack. I wasn't stalking you or anything.
HAZ: Hey, we're not going to make it weird between us now, are we?
HOLLY: Of course not. I had a lot of fun this afternoon.
HAZ: So did I.
HOLLY: I guess I was wondering if you want to see where this all goes?
HAZ: (smiling) That's what I was thinking too.

Holly breaks into a grin and kisses him. Sadie feels like she should get Mackenzie out of the house, but Mack says she's okay and can handle it.

Lassiters Hotel
Chloe passes the luggage to Byron when he exits the elevator with Reece. Chloe informs them that the car's arrived, which is news to Byron as he thought he was still driving to the airport. Reece admits she hates airport goodbyes and then says she'll meet Byron outside at the car.

REECE: Thank you Chloe. I meant to tell you I've heard nothing but good things about you.
CHLOE: Really?
REECE: Yeah. I might need some updates from time to time, and maybe some tasks done on my behalf. Can I count on you?
CHLOE: Yeah, I guess. But won't you be back soon?
REECE: I don't know when I'll be back.

Chloe watches from the foyer as Reece heads out to say goodbye to Byron. Reece says she doesn't trust herself not to burst into tears at the departure gate.

BYRON: It's all happened so quickly. I feel like I missed out on time with you.
REECE: Time is a funny thing.
BYRON: I love you.
REECE: I love you too. More than you know.
BYRON: And you're doing what you have to do.
REECE: I'm doing what I have to do.

They kiss one last time. Byron tells Reece he'll see her soon as she gets into the car and is driven away. Chloe and Paul watch from the hotel as Byron stands alone.
