Toadie catches up with Byron and is pleased to be taking him on. Jane is even more enthusiastic! Toadie is about to update Terese about what Byron found out. Byron is happy to start the next day, Toadie offers for him to join the meeting. Byron is off to a chiro appointment.
TOADIE: Just means that I get to take credit for all your hard work.
BYRON: If I'm making my boss look good, I'm doing my job right.
Toadie likes his thinking as he heads off. Byron reads a text on his phone.
Amy gets a text on her phone but decides to ignore it as she's working. It beeps again and Amy decides to look at her phone. Zara is impressed that Amy is getting swipes. Amy keeps rejecting so Zara thinks she's being too choosy. Melanie arrives and is interested in the fact Amy's doing online dating. Amy doesn't seem so keen and wants to delete her app.
MELANIE: Not everyone can be as lucky as Toadie and me.
Amy changes her mind and sends a dating request to all the interested guys.
Terese seems sceptical about the information. Toadie has used this information to dig deeper, they're getting a reputation for the rich divorce set. Terese isn't really surprised. Terese wants to know what happens next. Toadie tells her forensic accountants need to track down the money. Terese wants to do this whatever the cost.
TERESE: This is about what all this represents. It's time to teach Paul a lesson.
Leo wants to know how a meeting with Georgia will help. Paul wants to get his money's worth as he's paying so much for Georgia as a top lawyer. Paul can't accept that David can't be released from remand.
PAUL: There has to be a way to bring him home.
TERESE: You really think you're the smartest man in the room at all times. I know about the offshore money hiding scheme.
Paul sends Leo off. Terese tells Paul what she's found out. Paul isn't fazed and thinks it doesn't sound plausible.
PAUL: I've had enough accusations for one day.
TERESE: I know how you feel. I've heard enough lies to last me a lifetime... I won't rest until I find that money.
Outside Harold's Café
Levi and Freya arrive as Amy is going through her bag. Amy tells them she has a date and they're pleased for her. Miles is her date and is an engineer. They're having a drink right there and then going to the circus. They wish her all the best.
Zara arrives with Zara's lucky lipstick, she was looking for that. Amy tells her what is planned. Zara thinks he's not being predictable.
ZARA: That's fun and exciting just like you.
Amy thanks her but wants Zara to head off before the date. Zara agrees and compliments Amy's outfit.
Byron arrives at a big house and knocks at the door. Danielle answers and isn't impressed that Byron seems to be late.
DANIELLE: You work for me remember?
BYRON: I work for my boss who I just had to lie in order to get away.
Byron ensured nobody was following him which took time. Danielle isn't interested and wants the paperwork. Byron has one copy of it. This paperwork seems to be important and Byron hasn't got long to make sure no-one misses the paperwork. Danielle will inspect and ensure she is getting her money's worth. They head inside.
Paul tells Leo that David has to stay in remand but doesn't sound happy about it. Leo agrees to keep boosting his spirits when they visit David. Paul brushes off his argument with Terese earlier but Leo isn't convinced. Paul updates Leo and he wants to know the truth. Paul is evasive but points out that Terese won't be able to track down the evidence if it was true. He is confident Terese won't be able to find proof. Leo thinks Terese will still find proof. Paul still won't admit to anything but looks rattled.
Danielle is happy with the paperwork Byron has brought and wants to know when there will be more. He is surprised and can't keep going between the two as it's getting more difficult. She's happy with this.
DANIELLE: The deeper you go the better the result.
She can't guarantee to bail him out if things go iffy. He's worried but she reminds him she's in charge. If he goes to prison he might not keep quiet.
DANIELLE: If you really wanted to persuade me there is another option. Time to debrief.
She heads to the bedroom as Byron heads after her.
Outside Harold's Café
Amy is sitting sipping her drink and waiting for her date. Levi turns up and wants to know if all is ok. Amy hasn't heard from her date but tries to be optimistic. Levi suggests she checks the app. Amy is disgusted the profile has been deleted. She declines Levi's invite to the movies.
Amy gets up and walks away. Her heel gets caught in the courtyard paving and Barry Du Bois saves her from falling. He checks that she is ok.
Paul is on the phone making sure that the money can't be traced and is secure. He turns round to see Leo standing there. Leo tells him Georgia wants to talk strategies about David. Paul had to deal with this.
LEO: He should be the most important thing in your life.
Paul insists that is the case and is trying everything he can. Leo reminds him there are other ways to help as well as money.
PAUL: This is about the future that I can offer all of you.
LEO: Aaron and I can't deal with this on our own. We need you focused.
Outside Harold's Café
Amy is impressed that Barry is fixing her shoe. He tells her he carries his tools around as he does many different jobs, contracting etc. Amy thinks he looks familiar as he's done work at Lassiter's. She is grateful as these shoes are her favourites. She admits to being stood up.
BARRY: Not worth your time. (Hands back her shoe.) Men should be a tad simpler. You need the right person to snuggle up on the lounge with on a Friday night in the living room.
She offers him the chance but he's happily married but she is ok because she tried. So no-one gets hurt he sets boundaries. He wishes her all the best.
Paul is thinking. He sits in his chair, gets up and walks around the room. He looks at the chess set, and a family photo of David, Aaron and Isla.
No.32 / House Somewhere
Toadie arrives looking for Byron as he has brought over his employment contract. He and Jane note Byron has been a while at his chiro appointment.
Danielle is impressed with Byron's bedroom skills. She agrees to a deal. He wants to arrange when to drop off the next documents.
Jane will make sure Byron gets the contract. Toadie wants to ease Byron into the role.
JANE: Byron is a natural at everything. Very detail oriented.
Toadie points out that he has already hired Byron. Jane has never had any trouble from Byron. They agree Nicolette caused enough trouble anyway!
Danielle tells Byron that afternoons are the best time. He will get into the safe when Toadie is out. She suggests that they try other role playing scenarios, Byron is agreeable. Danielle gives him the money he's earned. Byron hasn't stolen anything, it is all role play.
Amy arrives home and Zara wants details. Melanie is pleased Amy is smiling. They're not impressed that Amy was ghosted. She tells them that she met another man who was married but was like a fairy godmother.
AMY: He showed me that good guys still exist.
Melanie wants to hear more and suggests cocktail hour as Toadie will be coming home. Amy wants to postpone and work on the menu for Drinks Diva.
Terese is making a salad when Paul knocks at the door.
PAUL: I don't have the energy to be fighting two battles right now. The family needs me. That's where my focus needs to be. My future not my past.
Paul is confident he can still get his investment back. She doesn't think he's being honest and isn't convinced. He is being honest but realises why she's wary. He hands her an offer from his solicitors. She looks at the figure and Paul thinks it's fair.
PAUL: I'm offering to buy you out of the hotel for the market price.
TERESE: I won't walk away from Lassiter's.
PAUL: The only thing that is keeping you truly anchored to it is Josh. I would never stop you from visiting his plaque.
He would keep out of the way when she did so. He suggests that she start up her independent brand. He knows she will do amazingly well as she's a great businesswoman.
TERESE: You'd let me win?
PAUL:(upset) Let you go.
