The Waterhole
Given Kiri has gone AWOL, the others at her party decide that its time it ended.
Grant arrives and asks Mackenzie if she's talked to everyone about what will happen with the wedding pressies - she has and is doing to donate the ones she can't return. She's also decide that she can't accept Pierce's offer of the apartment.
Meanwhile Sadie would rather be anywhere but The Waterhole, more because she is trying to avoid Mackenzie in case she says the wrong thing. Wendy suggests writing her a letter instead given it worked with Zara.
Harold's café
Despite spitting up with Paul, Terese is still concerned about how Paul is taking the news about David being remanded as she sits catching up with Leo. Their chat is interrupted when Toadie comes into the café and pulls her aside for a chat. He tells her that the money Paul invested in Sapiko & Baz has gone.
Rotunda
Glen tentatively approaches Kiri to try and talk to her, even if she'd rather he wasn't anywhere near her. Her attitude changes when he explains he wasn't at her party because he's relapsed and has gone cold turkey.
GLEN: I told myself I could be there for you today but I guess I'm not as strong as I thought.
Number 32
Jane apologises to Byron for him not getting the best of starts at #32 given what has happened. She does hope given he plans on staying in Erinsborough, that he will put his law degree to good use... well that is once he's stopped bickering with his sister to achieve his aim of getting a job in the next 24 hours! Given his attitude, Jane is very confident that he will succeed and suggest paying a trip to see Toadie.
Rotunda
Kiri is now feeling guilty over Glen getting hurt because of what was happening between them. "Please don't blame yourself," he says to her and now knows that he should have been come clean with her from the off. With the air cleared between them, Glen hopes that he can become "a decent dad" to her but from the look on Kiri's face that isn't going to happen, but she has an alternative proposal.
KIRI: I don't need another dad. But I could do with a friend.
GLEN: Yeah, we can do that, always.
The Waterhole
Sadie has finished her letter and Wendy seems very happy with what she's written as it's "from the heart." They plan on giving the letter to Mackenzie once Wendy's finished her shift.
Meanwhile "convenient," is how Terese describes Paul keeping quiet about losing his investment after he comes into the bar and shows her the proof. "Not a word I would have chosen," is his response given how much he's lost! Terese is still suspicious and after Paul leaves, gets on the phone to call Toadie.
Lassiters car park
Glen hangs up after talking with Terese on the phone - since she's caught up with Toadie, he will head home and rejects the offer of a lift from Kiri. Both look happy to now be on the same page with each other.
After he leaves, Nicolette comes over wonders why Kiri isn't at her party. Kiri tells her about the "breakthrough" she has just had with Glen, which despite their own woes, Nicolette is pleased to see Kiri happy.
Rebecchi Law
Terese can't explain why Paul isn't going ape at losing the money in this investment even if he is somewhat distracted with what is going on elsewhere in his life at the moment.
TERESE: There's gotta be more to it than meets the eye.
Their chat is interrupted when Byron drops by to see about a job. Unfortunately Toadie isn't hiring however offers to give the lad some suggestions if he comes back in the morning.
Number 24
Mackenzie is too nervous about turning Pierce down to have supper with her dad. Grant is sure that given Pierce is "a good bloke" he will accept her decision.
Their chat is interrupted when Grant spots the "special delivery" being pushed through the door. He passes the letter over to Mackenzie then opens the door - Wendy and Sadie are still standing there and want the letter they've just posed back! Sadie explains that she wrote a letter to explain how sorry she was about Hendrix "but now that we're here, it feels a bit wrong," she adds. "It's not," Mackenzie is quick to reassure them with as she knows his death has affected Sadie too.
MACKENZIE: If you've gone to the effort to write me this, then I'd like to read it.
Wendy and Sadie head off to allow Mackenzie to read the letter in her own time. After he closes the door, Grant praises Mackenzie over how well she handled that.
MACKENZIE: It felt like the right thing to do.
GRANT: You always choose the right thing over the easy one. I'm proud of you kiddo.
Number 32
When he was at Rebecchi Law, Byron overheard Toadie and Terese talking about Sapiko & Baz so he's put in a call to someone he knows in New York for some information.
Just as he hangs up, Jane and Nicolette enter the kitchen and the siblings are bickering with each other again. Jane isn't amused at them referring to each other using their respective nicknames - Byron is Bellamy while Nicolette is Jig. While Jane gets the supper made, Jane suggests that Byron gets acquainted with his niece but he turns the offer down citing that he doesn't speak "baby" very well!
NICOLETTE: Not surprising considering you are one!
BYRON: There's that wit again!
Byron promises he'll "do it next time" and can't get out of the kitchen quickly enough!
NICOLETTE: Grown man - scared of small child.
"Must you always make a dig?" Jane remarks to her daughter.
Lassiters Complex
After they exit the bar, Chloe tries to talk to Kiri about Glen but she'd rather talk about anything else including the weather... really it's an excuse so that they can pash again!
The Waterhole
Leo is trying to talk to his dad about getting David out of prison but he's in a world of his own although he briefly comes to when he spots Glen and Terese walk into the bar.
Terese double checks that Glen is happy to eat in the bar and he is. The pair naturally start chatting about Kiri and Terese is glad he's got things sorted with her so that he can concentrate on his recovery.
Meanwhile Leo has decided he's had enough of Paul not paying attention to him that he gets up and walks out of the bar.
LEO: I'll find someone to talk to that actually cares about helping David and not just staring at their ex.
Number 24 (next day)
It's the morning after the night before and at the kitchen island, its awkard.com as Freya and Levi see that Chloe and Kiri have spent the night with each other.
Chloe heads for a shower so Freya takes the opportunity to ask Kiri "how was it?" Almost nonchalantly, Kiri replies back that it "as nice" before being distracted by a text from Nicolette - happy that things are on the up with Glen and that she's available should Kiri want to talk more.
Lassiters Managers Office
Terese pays Paul a visit demanding to know more about the bankruptcy but Paul would rather think about David instead. She calls that "evasive" and the chat is side-tracked by Paul asking about her relationship with Estelle. He can't believe Terese paid Estelle to leave, especially given how it was done and remarks that they aren't "so different after all!"
Rebecchi Law
Toadie is just letting himself into the office when Byron appears and thinks he's there to get the promised names. Byron explains that he's there about something else and goes on to tell Toadie about the discovery his contact made about Sapiko & Baz.
BYRON: This outfit, its where people throw money to make it disappear. Anything that's invested is funnelled into other companies that go broke when actually its squirrelled away into secret trust accounts.
Toadie looks very impressed at what Byron has come up with, especially doing so off his own back, and so offers him Mackenzie's job while she is on leave. "I'm in," Byron replies and they seal the deal with a handshake.
Number 24
Grant comes into the house and waits for Mackenzie to come off the phone from talking to Pierce. Turns out the call to Pierce went well - he gets why she's said no to the apartment but plans to leave it on the table just in case her mind changes. She's more taken by Pierce and Lisa always planning on referring to her as their "daughter in law" and thus being part of their family.
GRANT: You made Hendrix the happiest man in the world. They'll always love you.
Grant invites her to join him for a coffee but she wants to go for a walk alone so she can read Sadie's letter. "That is one strong girl right there," Grant says to Levi and Freya after Mackenzie exits the house.
Number 28
Maybe he wouldn't be saying that when we cut to #28 and see her entering Hendrix's room where she puts on one of Hendrix's jackets before dissolving into floods of tears, ripping up Sadie's letter. The tears are still flowing when she then gets into his bed and starts watching his 'funeral request' video.
Harold's café
Leo looks happy stunned at hearing that there is 'peace' between Glen and Kiri and that they plan on helping take the load off him given he's worried about David. Whilst Leo heads to the counter to order celebratory coffee, Kiri thinks Glen should come clean with Leo about his relapse but Glen doesn't want to as he's "doing well" and reckons Leo has enough on his plate currently.
Lassiters Complex
Byron catches his family walking through the complex and tells them about his new job. Jane is thrilled at the news and even Nicolette is forced to begrudgingly congratulate her brother! Byron turns down the offer of a celebratory lunch citing a chiropractor appointment, but when the ladies walk off, he makes a call and tells whoever picked up that he'll be there soon.
BYRON: But we need to be discrete. I can't let the new boss find out.
