Lassiters Hotel Office
Terese tells Paul he's crazy if he thinks he can cancel fashion week - especially since Leo and Montana aren't together. But she falters when Paul says he saw the pair together at the vineyard, which Montana begrudgingly confirms.
TERESE: How long has this been happening?
MONTANA: I'm not going to sit here and discuss my private life, okay? As for fashion week, there's a contract.
PAUL: Yeah, which is immediately voided because of non-ethical conduct.
MONTANA: You will hear from my lawyers.
Montana ups and leaves while Terese shakes her head at Paul. "I can't believe you went to Lucy with this instead of me," she says. Terese adds that she had no idea Leo was actually sleeping with Montana, but Paul finds that hard to believe.
Number 24
Chloe brings the drying rack out and tells Freya and Mackenzie that the spare room is officially ready for Kiri. Chloe then gets a text informing her about the latest Montana kerfuffle, so she heads into work, passing Levi on the way out. Mac heads into her room while an uneasy looking Levi chats with Freya.
LEVI: Have I done something wrong?
FREYA: Sorry?
LEVI: I'm just trying to understand what's going on right now. If you're not interested in me I'll back off.
FREYA: No, it's not that.
LEVI: Is it Gareth?
FREYA: I think I've just been feeling really overwhelmed. I thought I was ready to move on but I might not be.
LEVI: Okay, I'll let you think about it. The ball's in your court, Freya.
Number 28
Toadie is having dinner with Karl and Hendrix when Mackenzie races over. Mac's keen to tell Toadie about Montana firing her lawyers (she knows someone who works at Montana's former law firm and got the goss), and she thinks Toadie should step in. Toadie laughs and says Montana would have no interest in a "lawyer with a one-man practice". But Mackenzie insists that Toadie has vital knowledge of all things local and would be an asset for Montana.
KARL: You're certainly very passionate about this.
HENDRIX: Mackenzie has a girl-boss crush on Montana.
MACKENZIE: I don't have a crush on her, I have just followed her career and studied her business deals and think she's an incredible role model for women everywhere.
HENDRIX: Major crush.
MACKENZIE: (to Toadie) This could be massive for us - I mean, you.
Toadie appears as though he might be giving in to Mackenzie's pleading.
Erinsborough Hospital
David walks the hallways in a daze, not responding to his colleagues greeting him. He's startled when Freya grabs his arm and asks if he's okay. David mutters that he can't help thinking that absolutely anyone could have left the note on his desk. Freya understands, but reminds him that acting strangely isn't going to help their cause.
DAVID: I can't live like this. I need to know who did it.
FREYA: No, you need to pull yourself together.
Freya looks concerned when David walks away from her.
Lassiters Penthouse
Terese and Chloe arrive to get answers from Leo about Montana. Paul emerges from the hallway to join the conversation, just as Leo admits he's sleeping with Montana but it's consensual. Paul says Leo doesn't have to lie just to protect Terese, but Leo says he's not protecting anyone; "Montana and I are dating".
PAUL: So there was no indecent proposal?
LEO: It was just a misunderstanding. We've worked through it.
PAUL: I know that you have a financial stake in this deal, but-
LEO: Oh dad, stop. Don't try and make this into something just to try and hurt Terese.
PAUL: I was just worried about you that's all.
LEO: No, Montana and I are not pawns in your little game.
Erinsborough Hospital
The next morning David is horrified to find another note on his desk. This one says: Does your husband know you're a killer?
Lassiters Penthouse
Terese finds Montana having coffee with Leo and apologises for her personal life becoming caught up in her business with Paul. But Terese is pretty confident that fashion week will still go ahead as planned. Montana is pleased as it would be a shame to start from scratch at this late stage. Leo offers to call Lucy to smooth things over, which Terese is grateful for. Paul saunters out and tells Terese he's not going to say sorry for looking out for Leo, however he concedes he may have got the wrong end of the stick.
TERESE: How very gracious of you.
PAUL: (to Montana) I am curious though. I mean Leo's business is based here - you have to be in Toronto next month, and Paris the month after that etcetera. So how exactly is this going to work?
Sighing, Terese tells Paul to drop it. She leaves and Paul mutters that he'll just keep his opinions to himself then. "He is relentless," Montana says when Paul's out of earshot. But her and Leo soon go back to smooching.
Number 28
Susan finds Karl looking at the pamphlet from Clive's apartment block and wonders if he's still brooding. Karl can't help but ask if things were different, would she be interested in buying one. When Susan says she might, Karl admits they should look into being more aggressive with their investment strategies. Susan thinks they could look into investing more into the tram and suggests he have a word to Paul, which Karl thinks is a good idea.
The Waterhole
Paul finds Montana and apologises for last night, saying that none of it was personal. "Which part," Montana retorts, "the part where you accused me of coercing your son into my bed? Or when you tried to scuttle a lucrative deal?" Paul replies that in his defence he thought he was protecting his family because they mean the world to him. But Montana says that's exactly how she feels about her reputation. Karl walks in to look for Paul but hangs back (eavesdropping) when he notices him speaking with Montana. Paul thinks there could be a way to make things up to Montana, so Montana lets him know she's going to expand her fashion empire into makeup and needs help with securing investors.
Paul leaves, as does Karl, who has heard all the info he needs. Mackenzie and Toadie walk in and Mac literally shoves him into Montana's orbit to shoot his shot. But when Toadie makes his introductions to Montana, she gives him a disinterested once-over and uses his proffered business card as a toothpick.
MONTANA: If I was looking for representation, I wouldn't choose some suburban ambulance chaser with a crinkled shirt and an unpleasant tie trying his luck at the local pub.
Toadie slinks away, tail between his legs, telling Mackenzie he's never doing something like that again.
Erinsborough Hospital Exterior
Freya finds David sitting outside and discovers that he's been sent another menacing note. Freya says that probably confirms the first note was about Gareth. She thinks they could look into the hospital surveillance system to find the security coverage of his office. But David says that will eventually lead to getting the police involved, which they need to avoid.
DAVID: If Aaron finds out about this he'll never look at me the same again.
FREYA: (putting her arm around him) Hey, you don't know that. We're going to be fine.
DAVID: We have to find out who's doing this and what they want.
FREYA: Okay, well, the only person who is really on our radar at the moment is Emma, isn't it.
DAVID: We need to find out more about her.
FREYA: Okay, you leave it with me.
The Waterhole
Montana finishes up a meeting with her glam squad, finalising info for her social media. Karl (now dressed in a suit) then takes his shot to speak with her. He says he's a doctor who knows Paul and heard that she's looking for investors. Montana makes a comment about his "comfortable shoes" but still allows Karl to sit down and chat. She warns him she's looking for a major investor and there's already a lot of contenders, which spurs Karl on even more.
Harold's Café
Mackenzie is a little bit upset that Toadie couldn't score the deal with Montana, and tells Hendrix they should have worked on their strategy more. Mac knows Hendrix probably thinks she's being silly, but she would have loved the chance to see how Montana operates up close. "This doesn't have to be the end of the road though does it?" Hendrix says, which gives Mackenzie a glimmer of hope.
Lassiters Penthouse
Leo has asked Montana over so he can introduce her to Abigail. Montana is instantly smitten, much to Leo's delight, and picks up Abigail for a cuddle.
Number 28
Karl tells Susan all about Montana's make-up venture (called Glamm - two M's for Montana Marcel), which is being launched simultaneously in London, Paris and New York. Karl thinks investing in it will be a goldmine, but Susan wants to know what happened to the tram plan with Paul.
KARL: Forget about the tram, this is our chance to trade up. We have to be quick, though, because other investors are circling. Paul is interested in investing.
SUSAN: Interested in investing is not the same as actually handing his money over.
KARL: Darling we're going to miss out on this opportunity.
SUSAN: No Karl, this is not you. This has never been you.
KARL: Well maybe it's time for a change. Opportunities like this don't come along every day!
SUSAN: No, you are not going to rush into an investment just because it's got a famous name attached to it.
Harold's Café
Freya sits with Levi and asks if he knows what's happening with Emma lately. She lies and says she saw someone who looked like Emma in the car park, so it got her thinking. Levi says he'll look into it for her, then goes to leave because he thinks Freya's just there to siphon info out of him. But Freya tells him to stay.
FREYA: What I wanted to talk to you about was I'm sorry that I'm not in the same place as you right now. The other day in the spa, it was actually one of the best days I've had in ages.
LEVI: Yeah me too.
FREYA: Just wait a little bit longer. I kind of think it would be worth waiting for.
LEVI: (smirking) We'll see.
FREYA: (grinning back) We'll see? What, that's all you've got to say to me?
LEVI: For now.
Levi says he'll let her know if he hears anything about Emma. When he leaves, Freya sends a message to David that says: We will get through this. I promise.
Lassiters Complex/Lassiters Penthouse
Terese and Chloe find Leo wheeling Abi's pram with Montana. Terese tells them she just got off the phone with Lucy and fashion week is going ahead. Paul strolls over and Terese adds that Lucy's keen to speak with him too about how he got everything so wrong and nearly jeopardised a major event. Chloe tells Montana that Lucy also offered her apologies on behalf of the Lassiters group. Montana says she understands Terese and Paul have their personal issues, but she won't let it ruin her event again. She heads off to the pond with Leo and Abi, while Terese growls at Paul not to cross her again.
After Paul goes back into the hotel, Chloe tells Terese that was a solid power move. But Terese says that Paul brought it on himself; he needs to learn that no good comes from always constantly trying to make other people as miserable as he is.
CHLOE: He's always been a bad loser.
TERESE: Actions have consequences, it's a fact of life.
CHLOE: The thing I don't understand with Paul is he's always happy to strategise and plot and plan, but he's somehow never prepared for the blowback.
TERESE: The biggest problem with karma is that there's no way to escape it.
Meanwhile, Paul returns to the penthouse and throws a fit, picking up his chess board and pitching it everywhere.
TERESE: Doesn't matter what you do, karma always catches up to you.
Erinsborough Hospital Exterior
David is heading to his car when he realises the door is open. Panicked, he goes over and freaks out when he sees that someone has left an OPA on the front seat.
