Number 22
Terese and Glen arrive home and she tells him where the spare room is. Initially he goes to head upstairs, but then remembers that Terese might need a hand getting out of her dress, so comes back downstairs, to unzip her.
Amy's apartment
The trio are back from the ball but in a foul mood over what happened. Levi is adamant nothing would have happened had Ned stayed away. Ned reckons "that jerk" would have said something regardless and his presence meant he could "defend Amy." Amy makes it clear she can defend herself, before agreeing with Levi, that Ned shouldn't have come. He looks aghast at it all being pinned on him, pointing out "Levi was just as involved." The trio then start squabbling amongst themselves before Amy orders the guys out, she's had enough of talking about it and wants to go to bed... alone!
Penthouse suite
Despite the few incidents at the ball, Paul thinks that the event [from a management perspective] was a good success as he and Leo wind down with a glass of whisky. The pair then start talking about Glen, and Leo hopes that he accepts the car offer so it makes him more mobile.
PAUL: He'd be a fool to knock it back.
Leo is unsure whether his dad is genuinely trying to make amends with Glen or not, which Paul confirms he is. They then start talking about Terese and Paul tells Leo about dancing with her at the ball and having "a moment."
PAUL: And I know that she felt it too. This is probably why she needed time to herself.
Paul isn't sure what he should go next, and Leo's advice is to take things slowly, to give Terese space. "I feel like things are shifting," Paul admits and thinks he needs to "do something to acknowledge that." "Don't go too over the top," is Leo's suggestion especially given they both know Terese "hates being backed into corners." Since Paul does know that, he instead plans to show Terese that he has "truly evolved" rather than giving her gifts, taking her out to dinner or any romantic gestures.
Number 22 (next day)
Ned is very surprised to see Glen in the kitchen making the coffee when he comes downstairs. Glen explains that Terese was upset and didn't want to be alone, so he slept in the spare room. "Why was she upset?" Ned asks and it's a one-word reply - Paul!
Terese comes downstairs moments behind Ned and takes the coffee Glen has made for her. Ned offers Terese the office at Harold's if she wants away from Paul, but she turns his offer down, reassuring him that she will be fine.
After Ned heads out of the kitchen, Glen tells Terese to call him if she has the urge to drink. "You've done more than enough already," she says in reply.
GLEN: I'm here for you Terese. There's no time limit on that.
Lassiters Complex
Levi and Amy run into each other at the complex and he quickly apologises to her for what happened with Ned at the ball. "It was really full on," she admits but does point out that "today is a new day" before querying why Levi is in his uniform, since she thought he'd the day off. Levi explains his Sgt. Rodwell has called him in to talk about what happened at the ball, to which Amy is remorseful that his work is being affected. He isn't too worried about work, more the ultimatum Ned gave her. She admits to being unsure what to tell Ned.
LEVI: Look, I want this work but if the guy doesn't, what...
Levi doesn't finish his sentence as out of the corner of his eye, he sees his Sgt. Rodwell standing looking at them. "Let's have a chat," the Sergeant says!
The Waterhole
Chloe is in full work mode when she finds Terese at the bar. She informs Terese the pool needs to be closed until after Christmas (issue with the roof and maintenance are off until after Christmas) and that she's a full day of meetings ahead of her. Terese isn't rushing to get to the meetings and after reassuring Chloe she is fine, comes clean with what is bothering her - having a moment while dancing with Paul at the ball. "It was confronting but I'm fine," and asks if Chloe can keep Paul away from her... however just at that, Paul has walked into The Waterhole!
After saying hello, Paul tells Terese how good it was to see her at the ball and asks if she's free this afternoon, whether she'd attend a relationship counselling session. From the look on Terese's face, this was the last thing she was expecting Paul to say!
(Later)
"What's going on there," Glen asks Chloe while she stands near to where Paul and Terese are talking. "A surprising turn of events," is her reply, and tells him about Paul asking Terese to attend marriage counselling.
Meanwhile, at the table, Terese is very surprised at Paul's suggestion given he isn't a fan of counselling. Paul's rationale is that he is prepared to do anything to make things work [between them] and admits it's something he wouldn't have done with his other wives.
PAUL: But you're special. Don't you see? And I will do whatever it takes to sort out these problems and save our marriage.
Paul leaves so she can ponder his suggestion, but before leaving, does add that he will be disappointed if she says no, "but I'll also understand."
Lassiters Complex
Toadie spots Amy sitting outside Harold's, staring into space over a cuppa and goes over to see how the ball was.
TOADIE: Anyone get arrested?
After seeing the look on Amy's face, he quickly clarifies that it was a joke! "Nothing about last night was funny," is her reply back to him and her eyes get drawn to Levi and Sgt. Rodwell exiting the station.
We then cut to them and hear Levi got a warning for what happened at the ball, something he isn't at all amused to hear given he wasn't working! "You're always representing the force," is Sgt. Rodwell's explanation and that it happened at a work function too. Levi is unhappy at what Rueben said, calling it "disgusting" and "offensive" and we heard his punishment is a two weeks unpaid leave.
SERGEANT RODWELL: You aren't being singled out Levi, you just need to watch how you behave.
Levi then makes his way over to where Amy is filling Toadie in on what Rueben said and tells them about the punishment doled out. "It will all blow over," Toadie reassures him with.
Harold's café
Ned is checking on how Terese's day is going (confusing) when their conversation is interrupted when Glen comes in to talk to her, having been brought up to speed from Chloe.
GLEN: Unbelievable.
Terese fills Ned in to what Glen was referring to. Glen doesn't think Paul is genuine either, suggesting he's handing out "wads of cash" to get Terese "to do what he wants." We hear too that Glen plans to reject the car offer too. Terese admits she isn't sure what she plans to do yet, taken aback by the "big step" offer of marriage counselling.
GLEN: It's a ploy to get you back. He'll go through all the motions and say all the right things, but none of it will be real.
Terese isn't amused, reminding Glen that she knows what Paul is like! Thankfully a text for Glen has the conversation curtailed, but before he leaves to get to work, he tells Terese to "stay strong" and to tell Paul she's "not going to have a bar of it."
"That was intense," Ned comments after handing Terese her drink. She explains about Glen having "issues with Paul" but Ned asks if she is "sure there's nothing else going on?" admitting it was weird seeing Glen at #22 this morning. Terese is quick to get in that "nothing happened," which ties in with what Glen said to Ned.
NED: Doesn't mean he doesn't want something to happen.
TERESE: It's purely plutonic.
"Maybe that's not healthy either?" Ned suggests, which earns him 'a look' from Terese, so he explains more - during the rant Glen gave, he didn't once ask about her, or how she felt.
NED: I'd say Glen wants you to do what he wants. Keep that in mind.
Amy's apartment
After a text from Amy saying they needed to talk, Ned arrives at the apartment. He is quick to apologise for what happened last night, admitting that he was "an idiot," something Amy readily agrees with!
Getting down to why he was summoned, Amy explains that she wants them to stay with their current arrangement, but Ned admits he can't. "I know it's a big ask," he concedes and points out that she did seem open to the idea when Felicity was around. "I was," Amy agrees.
NED: So if there's any chance that you'd end things with Levi, and just be with me, then I'm asking you to take it.
Harold's café
Leo comes into the café just as Paul is finishing talking with Sgt. Rodwell. He hears the good news, that despite what happened at the ball, Paul has secured the vineyard as the ball venue for the next 3 years. Leo isn't too happy though, even if Paul thinks its "a golden opportunity," as he'd rather his focus was on the distillery than on hosting events. He reminds Paul that decisions like this isn't "your choice to make" and is also angry at Paul doing deals behind his back "without my permission."
PAUL: So, what do you want me to do? Go and see Rodwell and tell him the deal's off?
LEO: I don't want you to do anything! But since you can't seem to cope with that, I've got no choice... you're out!
PAUL: What?!
LEO: You're no longer an investor, silent or otherwise.
Leo adds why that is, Paul "can't seem to let go of control" and wanting to "control everything in your life" which also applies to Terese too!
LEO: If you really want to be a better man for her, just focus on her and not my business.
Amy's apartment
Amy gives Ned a response - it's a no and reminds him too that he was the one that talked her into their arrangement!
Ned asks if she will continue to see Levi and although she'd rather not give a reply, when he forces her to, the reply is "yes."
NED: So basically you and Levi would be exclusive?
Amy admits to caring about them both "equally" and would be "devastated" if he left.
AMY: But that's all that I can give you. It's this or nothing. Can't you accept that?
Ned goes to leave, telling Amy that he needs "time to think." She might be waiting a wee while for an answer too as Ned plans to go to Queensland (using the trip he bought in the raffle).
NED: Think about it while I'm up there.
The Flamingo Bar (exterior)
Amy has obviously brought Levi up to speed and he seems relieved she hasn't dumped him!
AMY: I can't do that.
LEVI: At least everyone knows where they stand. Ned just has to decide what he wants.
AMY: Do you want to continue? Either way?
LEVI: Yes, I'm in.
AMY: Even if it just ends up being you and me?
"It's a lot more commitment," she adds but Levi is still in, planning to "take it as it comes." Amy would rather the polyamorous plan continues but given Ned wanted space, is debating whether to call him or not. Levi knows what he wants - another drink and leaves her pondering outside while he goes into the bar.
The Waterhole
Chloe needs to know whether Terese plans to attend the counselling session or not so she can re-arrange Terese's schedule. "I haven't decided yet," is Terese's reply and admits why - she keeps hearing Glen's voice in her head saying it's a ploy.
TERESE: There's a part of me that thinks that's true.
Chloe's take on things is "Glen might have his own agenda," which ties in with Ned's thinking too, so she asks Terese that if she forgets about Glen, what does she want?
TERESE: Legally, Paul's still my husband. And last night, at that dance, there was a moment of connection.
CHLOE: You didn't mention that!
TERESE: I'm trying not to let my emotions get the better of me.
CHLOE: There are emotions?
TERESE: And there's still some love there. And by him offering to go to counselling, that's huge.
CHLOE: Show's he's serious about making things work.
TERESE: But am I? You know, if I go to this counselling session, it... well he's going to assume that's what I want.
Chloe isn't sure that saying yes to counselling means yes to getting back together too.
CHLOE: Just state that clearly at the start of the session so Paul doesn't get the wrong idea.
With those words said, Terese instructs Chloe to clear her schedule and she departs to go and do that.
Almost immediately, Glen replaces Chloe - he's sought Terese out to see how she is doing and if she wants to go to a meeting that afternoon. Given she's now got plans, Terese suggests this evening or tomorrow instead and explains why - keeping her schedule clear in case she wants to go to the counselling... adding that it seems more than probably that she will go.
The Flamingo Bar (exterior)
Amy is about to give Toadie an update of what has happened after their earlier chat, but then stops herself - she's had enough and simply wants to forget it and talk about "absolutely anything else at all!" Toadie is more than happy to fill her in on his latest chat with Angie (about Big Kev's gout) over cocktails!
The Waterhole
Glen pushes Terese on why she wants to go to counselling with Paul? Her reply is she is "curious" over that he has to say, which Glen interprets as her potentially being "manipulated" adding "why give him the chance now?"
GLEN: This is a massive backward step.
TERESE: I'm sorry you feel that way but it's my decision, not yours!
Glen isn't giving up though, reminding her how "vulnerable" she currently is and doesn't think she is "thinking straight" either.
TERESE: You're right, I am confused, but none of that's going to change until I sort out my relationship with Paul.
GLEN: Oh you're a fool!
Terese isn't amused at being described as that! Glen explains himself - he doesn't think its going to end well,
TERESE: Whether it does or it doesn't, is not the point! But your interest in me and Paul has gone too far.
GLEN: I'm just trying to be a friend.
TERESE: No, you've crossed the line! Now stop telling me what to do and please, just... just respect my decision or leave me alone!
