The Flamingo Bar
Both Mackenzie and Hendrix are in shock after his revelation - her because she didn't think he'd say it and him because it wasn't want he intended to say! Hendrix does quickly add that he did mean what he said and that he has been wanting to say it for a long time too. As the conversation hasn't gotten any better, Hendrix decides to leave and Mackenzie sits there doing a good impression of a cross between a goldfish and a stunned mullet!!
Number 28
Bea is too busy working on her soon to be released podcast to either eat (despite Levi protesting it took him 9 minutes to make the snack) and Kyle telling the pair he's signed them up for the volleyball competition! To keep Karl off the scent longer (he doesn't know she's ready to release the podcast), she pleads with Kyle to keep him occupied again.
KYLE: I'm babysitting him so much; I may as well adopt him!
After further pleas, Kyle agrees to "take one for the team" and keep Karl occupied again today.
Erinsborough Hive
Ned tries to be polite when Sheila 2 is aghast at how her painting is turning out, although the pair end up laughing at her commenting Yashvi should arrest her "for crimes against art." They are enjoying the banter between them but realise they need to keep the hilarity down so Bea can work on her podcast. "I guess its not a comedy series?" Sheila 2 asks and Ned replies that she isn't close and asks if she's "heard of Finn Kelly?"
Erinsborough Hive/Number 28
Kyle calls with the bad news - Karl has found out about the podcast being released today after he badgered it out of Kyle!
BEA: (to Karl) I don't want you here!
And much to Karl's aghast, she's worked out how she wants to proceed (people talking about their experiences with Finn) and in which order folk are appearing - herself first then in order: Susan, Elly, Sheila and much to his disgust, Karl is episode 5!
Erinsborough High
Jane is still very much on a high from her 'putting them right' trip to Mildura. She tells Susan and Curtis how she further plans to tweak the Erinsborough High programme to "tighten the ship" even though it just has the one pupil now! While she does at least thank Curtis for his effort while she was away, its more like a kick in the teeth to what he has been doing!
After Jane leaves to work on her plans, Susan seeks Curtis' opinions on them, but he is being very diplomatic and politely replies "it's her baby."
Ramsay Street
Mackenzie is talking to Yashvi about Hendrix's revelation when the pair run into him as he gets ready to leave for school. Hendrix is so much a bumbling mess around Mackenzie that he drops his schoolbag twice before heading off.
YASHVI: That clumsy mess is not Hendrix Grayson... you've broken him!
MACKENZIE: I'm more worried that I've broken us.
The Waterhole
Sheila 2 takes a break from painting and making noise to get some latte's from Sheila for herself and Ned. After being filled in about Finn, Sheila 2 offers Sheila her condolences for losing Gary. "It still feels like it was yesterday," Sheila says even though a year has now passed and admits she is a bit nervous head of talking about it for the podcast.
Erinsborough High
As she stands watching him, Hendrix isn't impressed at being given cooking tips from Jane and looks very much relived when Curtis steps in to distract her, thus allowing him to continue making his pizza dough.
Out in the corridor, Curtis tries to get Jane to lay off the lad as he can sense Hendrix has stuff on his mind and right enough, the noise of Hendrix having a culinary disaster has them rushing back into the classroom. Jane is at least a bit gentler on the lad this time and sends Hendrix off to get changed (he's spilt something - water? all over himself)... but not before he trips over the stool that was behind him!
Erinsborough Hive
Levi arrives with food for Bea just as she's gone to the pub, so he is told by Ned. The pair (and Sheila 2) start chatting about the podcast before Sheila 2 compliments Levi for looking after his Gran after hearing all about Finn.
Number 30
Mackenzie is still in a quandary over what Hendrix said as despite her admitting, much to Yashvi's shock and amusement, that while she likes Hendrix, she "can't be with him." "Why not?" Yashvi asks and the reply is that he's "a bad boy" as well as being "my best friend's ex" and thus "none of those things bode well for a relationship."
MACKENZIE: After everything that happened with Richie, I guess I want a fairytale.
YASHVI: Well, from many people, dating Hendrix would be a horror story! But, he was your first kiss, then you guys were best mates and now you've done a full circle. Maybe that is a fairytale?
The Waterhole
After discussing the podcast with Sheila, Susan tries to reassure Karl that just because he isn't scheduled to appear until episode 5 in Bea's podcast, the lass isn't favouring anyone, the structure just makes better sense in telling the story. Sheila takes great delight in winding Karl up:
SHEILA: I just hope the audience hang in there until episode 5 because there are a lot of drop-off's in podcasts!
When Bea arrives to collect her lunch, Karl is very cool with her and even manages to get a dig in that he's off to the tram "where I'm needed."
"He's really cut isn't he?" Bea asks, but Susan reassures her that Karl will be fine, he's just "having a sook!"
The chat then turns to the podcast and Bea admits she is feeling "pretty sick about it," ahead of publishing later that afternoon and would like Susan to listen to it for a final time before it goes live. "Of course," Susan is quick to reply to her niece.
Erinsborough High
After managing to get Jane to leave to let them talk privately, Hendrix opens up to Curtis about making a mistake in telling Mackenzie that he was keen on her while "she most definitely was not!"
HENDRIX: Where's the rewind button? This is the most embarrassing stuff up I've ever made in my life! And the worst part is, I've lost my best mate.
"Has she said that?" Curtis asks and the reply is "no" but Hendrix feels "its inevitable." The lads is then confused when he gets a text from Mackenzie asking that they meet and talk.
The Waterhole
Kyle is destressing... aka trying not to kill Karl at The 82 by hiding in the pub having a beer.
KYLE: The trams just not big enough for both of us... and his big mouth... and his ego!
"Jeez you're going all out," Kyle remarks after hearing that Levi plans on making Bea a special dinner (complete with fairy lights) after having already organised snacks and lunch for her! "Its called being a good boyfriend," Levi is quick to reply with plus thinks its great what she is doing.
Erinsborough High
Jane is so pleased with how Curtis has worked with Hendrix sorting out his woes, that she is even tempted to leave Year 13 solely to him... in a couple of years' time!
Jane's impression that she was "sought out" by the school in Mildura for how well she was doing things at Erinsborough High is crushed when it transpires (thanks to a text message) that Curtis knows the school, and its Principal, after doing a teaching practice there! "I just wanted some space to prove myself," is Curtis' justification for being sneaky with what he did but Jane is seriously unamused!
The Flamingo Bar
Mackenzie looks relived that Hendrix has come to meet her, as it gives her a chance to say to him that it has been fun being in "the friend zone" but then adds she doesn't "want to be there anymore." Nervously he asks if she is done hanging out with him and she is quick to reply that isn't "what I'm saying."
MACKENZIE: Maybe there's another zone we can have fun in. A...
HENDRIX: (interrupting) ...More than a friends zone?
Mackenzie quickly nods her head and Hendrix has a huge smile on his face!
MACKENZIE: You get me. You make me laugh.
She admits the "post-spider moment was definitely a spark" that she was determined to fight but now wants them to "explore this," and not surprisingly he is keen to see where it goes to too. Mackenzie wants them to tell Harlow though, although given the Brent situation, suggests doing that later.
Number 28
After finishing listening to the podcast, Susan is happy with what she has heard but asks if Levi has heard it (no). Bea also confirms that Levi doesn't know what is in it although adds that he does know how much Finn messed her up. Susan is very concerned the first Levi is going to hear of that is not from her but via the podcast and suggests she goes and talks to him. Big problem though - the podcast is going to be released automatically from her laptop, which is at The Hive, so she rushes out the house to go get here and change the release time.
Erinsborough Hive
Ned has been too busy chatting with Yashvi and Sheila 2 to pay attention to his ringing phone (Bea calling to ask he changed the release time of the podcast) when said person arrives. However it is too late, the podcast has been released!
Number 26 (backyard)
Levi is preparing the backyard for this celebratory dinner with Bea while listening to the podcast.
BEA: It's the biggest regret of my life. I truly believe Finn was here for me, my one and only. He convinced me of that twice. After the island, I blamed myself for being weak, for letting him back into my life after almost destroying it. I've worked through those feelings of shame and I've let them go. The experience has changed me forever. Therapy might help but it won't fix me. I'll never be able to fully trust a man ever again no matter how wonderful he is or how much he loves me, my walls will always be up because a part of me will always be waiting for him to hurt me and I won't let that happen again.
Coming up on Neighbours
