Number 22
Paul and Harlow argue over his treatment of Brent. She is sick of him interfering whenever he doesn't approve of her boyfriends.
PAUL: Can we just be realistic here? If I hadn't pushed that little crook, something else would have.
HARLOW: No, it wouldn't have. You pushed him, you played your stupid games and now everyone is hurting because of it.
PAUL: I think you're overstating.
HARLOW: There's no point reasoning with you. Paul Robinson is right and everyone else is wrong, I'm so over it.
Harlow storms out of the room. Paul and Terese look concerned.
The Waterhole
Sheila 2 is working away in The Waterhole and Kyle asks Sheila if it's weird her being there. She says it's not weird as they've put the situation with the stolen post behind them. Sheila suggests going over to say hello, saying that apparently the deal with 'Bags' might be back on. Sheila introduces Kyle and says that he runs the Tram, so if Sheila 2 wants any advice on Paul, she should ask Kyle, seeing as Paul's his landlord. Kyle realises that Sheila's being a bit full on and drags her back to the bar and Sheila 2 thanks Sheila for looking out for her.
Number 30
Hendrix drops by to see Mackenzie.
HENDRIX: Hey, I thought I'd drop in and see what's news.
They make small talk about how the project at the Hive might be scrapped after the tools were stolen.
HENDRIX: You and me, we're ok, aren't we?
MACKENZIE: Yeah, of course (smiles).
Hendrix is pleased, saying that he'd like to have another movie night and that they should watch the new Mulan. Mackenzie's game, as long as they can watch the old Mulan after, for the musical numbers. Hendrix replies that he'll bring over some sour dough too so they can have the epic toasties they were talking about. As he leaves, Mackenzie smiles to herself.
Number 22
Terese finds Paul sitting on the veranda and he asks her whether Harlow's back yet. She says she'd be surprised if she's back any time soon given what Paul's done.
TERESE: Your manipulation of Brent has had consequences on other people.
PAUL: I didn't tell him to turn to crime.
TERESE: That may not have been your intention. But you certainly lit that fuse.
Terese tells him that he inadvertently caused Aaron and David's baby to be in danger and has also left Emmett without his last remaining biological relative in town. Paul says that's not all his fault and Terese agrees, but she says that he's played a part in it.
Harold's Café
Harlow and David are catching up. He tells her not to blame Paul solely for Brent's behaviour, saying it's a lot more complicated than that. She can't believe he's defending Paul, but David points out that it was Brent's choice to get involved with Holden. Paul arrives and Harlow tells him she needs space. He asks David how Emmett is and David replies that Aaron and Emmett are currently out looking for Brent. Paul says if there's anything he can do to just ask.
PAUL: Maybe you and I could have a bit of a talk when you come home?
Harlow gives him the silent treatment and he leaves.
HARLOW: How does he do that? He goes from being a destructive, overbearing monster to a sweet, worried grandad.
DAVID: Because he's both.
HARLOW: Well, I'm sick of it, ok, he needs to stop hurting the people we love because he thinks he knows what's best.
The Waterhole
Sheila 2 goes to the bar to pay her bill, but Sheila 1 says it's her shout, as it's the least she can do after everything. Sheila 2 thanks her and Sheila 1 says that Kyle might be able to give her some freebies at the Tram as you never know, Sheila 2 might be his new boss soon. Sheila 2 points out that she's only interested in buying The Hive at the moment, no other businesses. Roxy storms in, excited to reveal that the cops have found the guy who attacked her. Yashvi says it was easy to track them down as Brent identified them in his letter.
SHEILA 2: I might leave you all to it.
SHEILA 1: (to Roxy) You must be over the moon, love.
ROXY: I am so happy that I don't ever have to think about that again.
Sheila suggests celebrating at the Waterhole tonight with Chicken in Pyjamas.
KYLE: Oh, winner winner, chicken dinner!
The Hive
Paul arrives to see Ned, telling him that he's hired a cyber security firm to see who leaked the real figures for the Hive to Sheila 2. Ned has his poker face on and tells Paul that's great. As Paul moans about Sheila 1, Sheila 2 walks in, assuming he's talking about her. Paul says he was talking about the other Sheila.
SHEILA 2: Oh, nice to know you respect your colleagues and employees.
PAUL: I do when they deserve it, yeah. And if you've had a chance to look at my counter offer on this place, you'd see that I respect you too.
SHEILA 2: I'll get back to you on that but don't expect a resounding yes...I heard about the robbery.
PAUL: Oh, there was no real damage done.
SHEILA 2: Well, the security systems clearly need an upgrade. I'll be factoring that in.
Sheila says she's actually come to see Ned. She asks if he offers painting classes; he's about to reply that he doesn't at the moment but Paul jumps in saying that Ned would love to. As Sheila leaves, Paul tells Ned that he better pull out all the stops as he wants Sheila to realise that the price tag he's put on the place is worth it. Ned says they'll just be painting and he doesn't want to get involved in Paul's games.
The Waterhole
Yashvi arrives to see Roxy at The Waterhole who's having dinner with the Cannings. She delivers some good news; Holden's plead guilty and he's in remand until his sentencing.
ROXY: I think this celebration just kicked up a couple of notches!...Flamingo Bar? Let's do it?!
Kyle, Bea and Yashvi are all in. Roxy says she'll ask Ned but Yashvi says that he's got a painting lesson with Sheila 2 tomorrow. Bea didn't realise that he was giving lessons at the moment but Yashvi says she thinks he's just trying to impress Sheila for Paul. On the subject of Sheila 2, Sheila 1 wonders whether it might be a nice idea to invite her over for lunch tomorrow. Kyle thinks it's weird, but Sheila says that Sheila 2 has been sitting in the pub on her own all week making work calls, and the thing she probably needs the most is some decent food and decent company.
ROXY: Do you really think she'd want to hang out with all of us?
SHEILA: Why not?
KYLE: I dunno, cause we're complete strangers?
SHEILA: Not for long!
Sheila smiles.
Number 30
Harlow confides in Mackenzie about Brent. She's worried he could end up sleeping on the streets again but Mackenzie's sure he couldn't have gone far and hopefully Aaron and Emmett might find him. Hendrix barges in through the back door.
HENDRIX: Who's ready to bake the tastiest loaf?
It turns awkward when he sees Harlow there. Mackenzie tells him she has to rain check their movie night. He asks if they can re-arrange for tomorrow but she's not sure. After he leaves, Harlow apologises for just rocking up, saying that she didn't even check whether Mackenzie had anything on.
HARLOW: I just barged in here and started venting.
MACKENZIE: And you can vent for as long as you want...
The Hive
Ned and Sheila are starting their painting lesson.
SHEILA 2: So, I did a sketch of what I'm thinking of...
NED: Yeah, I think I see it.
SHEILA 2: Really? Because it looks like it was done by a 2 year old.
NED: It's a good start, it's a book, right?
SHEILA 2: Well, it's meant to be a bindi bindi. A butterfly. It was my nan's favourite animal.
NED: Have you thought of a colour palette?
SHEILA: I was thinking of something bold.
Ned goes to look for some high contrast pairings like blue and orange or pink and green. Bea stumbles in, with her sunglasses on, clearly hungover. She says that they had a big night as Roxy used her staff discount to buy drinks.
NED: That's probably why I haven't heard from Vi yet.
SHEILA 2: Who's Vi?
Ned tells her Vi's his girlfriend. She asks if she's interested in art too, but he says that Vi finds it a bit boring.
SHEILA 2: I can't imagine my life without it.
NED: Yeah, Vi's idea of art is putting together a crime scene.
SHEILA: Each to their own I suppose.
Bea notices Ned and Sheila's spark from afar.
Number 30
Harlow's still hanging out with Mackenzie. There's a knock at the door and Paul walks in. Harlow asks if he's ready to apologise and he does, which surprises her and she's pleased that he's taking responsibility for his actions. He agrees he shouldn't have manipulated the situation, but he doesn't think he caused Brent to engage in illegal activity.
PAUL: Brent is not who you think he is. I mean, someone who reacts to a bit of rejection with an illegal rampage, really? That's not the sort of person you should be around.
HARLOW: I want you to leave.
PAUL: Come on Harlow, just come home so we can talk this out.
HARLOW: Why? What's the point, you never listen or respect any of my opinions, we're done.
PAUL: Don't say that Harlow.
HARLOW: I just did.
MACKENZIE: I think you should go.
Paul looks frustrated and leaves. Harlow asks Mackenzie if she thinks Toadie will be ok with her staying for a few more days. She agrees to ask and gives Harlow a hug.
The Hive
Sheila gatecrashes Sheila 2's painting lesson with Ned.
SHEILA: Ooh, that's conceptual.
SHEILA 2: It's awful. Can we start again?
NED: You don't need to do that. You looking for me, Sheila?
SHEILA: No, I was looking for this Sheila.
She invites Sheila 2 for a spot of lunch and Sheila 2 looks delighted. As Sheila leaves, Sheila 2 looks at her painting, feeling disappointed again. Ned continues to reassure her.
SHEILA 2: Paul was right about one thing. You are a good teacher...
NED: Thanks.
SHEILA 2: So, what's next for you? Any big projects on the horizon?
NED: Not really.
SHEILA 2: How come?
NED: Oh, winning the Osborne prize last year was uhh...complicated. And I've done a few things since then but nothing's been the dream gig.
SHEILA 2: So what are you doing about it?
NED: What do you mean?
SHEILA 2: Are you going to get yourself out there, apply for grants, residencies? If you want to make this your career, then you need to fight for it, every single day...
NED: I thought I was the teacher here.
SHEILA 2: I'm just sharing some hard-earned wisdom.
Sheila says she has to get back to work. After she leaves, Ned looks inspired by her faith in him.
The Waterhole
Terese arrives at the Waterhole to find Kyle staring at a plate full of food.
TERESE: What's wrong with you?
KYLE: Tequila.
ROXY: Lightweight.
TERESE: Oh come on, go easy on him. Keith Richards couldn't keep up with you! (laughs)
Roxy gets a text from Harlow asking her to pack a bag of clothes...Terese says she must be staying at Toadie's for another few days. As Terese leaves, Roxy goes to serve Hendrix. She notices his glum expression.
ROXY: What's wrong with you?
HENDRIX: Nothing...
Roxy's not convinced...he tells her that Mackenzie cancelled their plans last night so she could hang out with Harlow. Roxy tells him to suck it up, because Harlow needed Mackenzie more than he did last night after what's just happened with Brent. Roxy's pep talk seems to work as Hendrix looks a bit more optimistic again.
Number 22
Ned arrives home to find his girlfriend crashed out on the sofa. He asks her if she wants to go to a gallery with him this afternoon but she's not feeling it after her big night, hoping to just stay home and watch some TV.
NED: I didn't really wanna spend the rest of the day on the couch.
YASHVI: Oh, choose art over me again, it's fine.
NED: Well, I'm sorry I chose an art lesson over shots with you and Roxy but it is my career.
YASHVI: Sorry, it was just a joke.
Yashvi apologises again and they agree to watch tv for a bit before Ned goes to the gallery.
Number 30
It's the next day.
MACKENZIE: What's your plan for today?
HARLOW: I'm gonna go look for Brent.
MACKENZIE: Great, I'll help.
HARLOW: No no no, it's fine. I think I need some time to figure out how I'm going to apologise to him.
Mackenzie wonders what Harlow feels that she needs to apologise for, but Harlow insists that she should have made sure Brent realised how much he meant to her before she went to London. She knows how bad he feels about rejection and she should have taken that into consideration. Hendrix barges in again.
HENDRIX: Hey, am I interrupting?
MACKENZIE: Uh, yeah, kind of.
HARLOW: It's fine.
HENDRIX: I heard about what happened with Brent and I uh...
HARLOW: Hendrix, if you've come here to gloat.
HENDRIX: No, no gloating. Just toasting.
He has a loaf of bread to hand.
HENDRIX: I just came here with a little pick-me-up.
MACKENZIE: That's really sweet of you.
HENDRIX: It's nothing.
Hendrix leaves and Harlow points out how weird that just was. Mackenzie smiles, saying Hendrix is always weird.
Lassiters Complex
SHEILA 1: Sheila!
Sheila 2 jumps. Sheila tells her that she forgot to give her the address for lunch so it's lucky she's bumped into her. She tells her it's 26 Ramsay Street and Sheila 2 realises that she must live near Ned.
SHEILA 1: Yeah, he lives just up the road. So I'll see you there soon, will I?
SHEILA 2: Yeah, I'm looking forward to it! (smiles)
As Sheila leaves, Sheila 2's smile drops and she makes a phone call.
SHEILA 2: Yeah, I need you to look into something for me...Ned Willis...you have 24 hours to find out everything you can...bye.
