Erinsborough High School
Karl rushes down the stairs to help an unconscious Olivia, who is lying at the bottom. She doesn't respond. Susan arrives on the scene.
SUSAN: Karl, what's happened?!
KARL: She just...fell.
Susan goes to call an ambulance, while Karl checks her pulse. He tells Susan that Olivia is breathing, but may have spinal injuries. Susan relays this information on the phone.
SUSAN: We have a doctor here on the scene, but you need to hurry!
Karl looks guilt-ridden.

Dipi is on the sofa, on the phone to Shane, who is at work and on speakerphone. They indulge in some light flirtation in which Shane envisages giving her a foot massage.
DIPI: You can give them a rub when you get home. And after that, you can give me a real massage!
Yashvi, who is in the kitchen listening to this, goes into the sunroom to join Mackenzie and Toadie. She tells them about her idea to throw a belated 20th anniversary surprise lunch for Dipi and Shane, to make up for the previous 'epic fail'. Toadie and Mackenzie think this is a great idea.
Back indoors, Shane tells Dipi on the phone that he'll try not to wake her up when he gets home.
DIPI (flirting): You can wake me up if you want to.
SHANE (on phone): You say that now, but I don't have a death wish.
They both laugh, and Dipi then gets another call. Shane asks her if she needs to take it. Dipi looks shifty, and tells Shane it's just Terese; she'll call her back later. She quickly changes the subject, taking the phone into another room so she and Shane can discuss her forthcoming massage in more detail!
Erinsborough Hospital
Karl comes into the waiting area and tells Susan that Olivia is in a coma; it's too soon to say how serious her injuries are, but her spine seems all clear. Susan remembers she needs to notify the police, as anything like this that happens on school grounds requires her to inform them. Karl is about to fetch coffee, but seeing how troubled he is, Susan tells him to rest while she calls Levi.
Harold's Café
Hendrix is at a table. He sends a text to Karl, asking him to call him. Bea comes in, and Hendrix asks her if she's seen Karl, explaining he's been trying to get hold of him. Bea hasn't seen him.
HENDRIX: I'm just a bit worried about him and Susan, with all this Olivia stuff.
BEA: Yeah. Well, Olivia's an absolute pain. I wish I could just send her packing. Right now, we've just got to be there for Auntie Suze and Karl.
Bea goes to order some food at the counter, while Hendrix calls Susan.
HENDRIX: Susan, I'm trying to get hold of Karl... Why? ... What's happened?
The Waterhole
Paul barges in, demanding answers from Shane, who is working, about something that isn't immediately obvious to Shane.
PAUL: Is your wife planning on making a decision, or does she expect me to wait forever?
SHANE: What?
PAUL: You know exactly what I'm talking about.
SHANE: No, actually I don't.
PAUL: The decision on Harold's!
SHANE: Uh, as much as I'm enjoying this weird chat, Paul, you're gonna have to give me some more information, mate.
PAUL: The lease! I'm talking about the lease, Shane! Now, we have given Dipi plenty of time to make a decision on extending or backing out. And Terese has been way too lenient in offering extensions, but I need an answer ASAP.
SHANE (covering): And you will get one. Soon.
PAUL: I've been hearing that for weeks!
SHANE: I'm gonna talk to Dipi, and we'll get back to you.
But it's clear Shane has been completely thrown by the news that there is any question over the continuation of the lease at Harold's.
Erinsborough Hospital
Hendrix arrives, having heard the news about Olivia, and joins Karl in the waiting area. Karl insists he's fine, and that Susan has gone to ask if there's any news on Olivia's condition.
Levi comes in, in uniform, asking Karl if they can have a chat about the incident at the school. Levi asks Karl to describe what happened.
KARL: I ran into Olivia, and, uh... we actually had a bit of a disagreement.
LEVI: Where did this happen, exactly?
KARL: On the landing.
LEVI: And how did she fall?
KARL: I don't know. Well, I mean, I didn't... I didn't see it. I turned to leave. She must have tripped.
LEVI: ... Why were you at the school, again?
Suddenly, Hendrix surprises Karl by coming in with a false alibi!
HENDRIX: He was there for me. Yeah, I had an assignment - I had to make something gluten-free. And I was having a lot of trouble with this pizza base, so I had to call for help from the dough king.
Karl looks worried, and Levi a little suspicious.
LEVI: Okay, then, so you were there to help Hendrix, and you ran into Olivia, and all of this just happened to be bad luck?
KARL (nods): Mm.
Susan comes in, as Levi thanks Karl and Hendrix for being 'so forthcoming'. Levi leaves. Susan reports that the doctors are doing some more scans on Olivia, but notices Karl and Hendrix look shifty.
SUSAN: Is everything okay with you two?
KARL (unconvincingly); Yeah.
Lassiter's Complex
The next day, Shane and Dipi are walking past the Flamingo Bar, and Dipi remarks that they need a night out there. Shane seems distracted, and eventually brings up the conversation he had with Paul yesterday, about the lease on Harold's.
DIPI: I am so sorry, that is... that's not the way I wanted you to find that out.
Dipi admits she's been putting Terese off in terms of telling her whether she wants to renew the lease on Harold's - because she's not sure whether she wants to.
DIPI: When you were with Amy, I was toying with the idea of moving to Sydney, to be with Jay and Kirsha. That's why I was putting off signing the lease. Puff, I just... I want to be there for the kids that need us most right now. And to be honest... moving to a new city could be a new start for us, too. Would it be too much to ask for you to at least give it some consideration?
Shane looks thrown.
SHANE: Well, it's totally out of the blue. But if it's... if it's what you really want, then, yeah - yeah, I'll think about it.
DIPI: Thank you.

Yashvi, Toadie, Mackenzie and Ned are talking about the surprise lunch they're planning for Shane and Dipi. Nicolette has promised to tip them off when Dipi has left work, Yashvi explains, and then Toadie says he'll use his 'finely honed acting skills' to call Dipi and Shane and make sure they're on their way home.
YASHVI: You suck at acting.
MACKENZIE: Yeah, I've never once fallen for one of your prank calls.
YASHVI: Yeah. Your Robert De Niro sounds like a drunk leprechaun.
NED: And I heard your performance in The Full Monty was a little stiff.
Before Toadie can object to this universal slating, Yashvi moves on to discussing the lunch menu. Mackenzie says Hendrix has sent through some recipes, but she'll need help to prepare them. They all agree to pitch in.
YASHVI: This is gonna be awesome! Finally, on the way back to normal.
They all raise a toast to 'a new normal'.

Karl tells Hendrix that Susan is still in bed, having a 'well-earned birthday cup of tea'.
KARL: I wanted to talk to you alone (...) I don't feel right about what we told Levi about why I was at school, so I'm going to speak to him.
SUSAN (appearing suddenly): To who?
HENDRIX: Uh, no-one! Doesn't matter. Happy birthday, Susan!
Karl apologises for the business with Olivia having put a dampener on Susan's birthday, but she says it's fine - they didn't have any major plans anyway. Susan goes to get dressed.
KARL: I've got to stop covering up, alright? Especially with Susan. I've got nothing to hide.
HENDRIX: But that's not what Levi thought when he questioned you last night.
KARL: He was just doing his job, mate.
HENDRIX: Oh, but he seemed majorly suss on you. That's why I stepped in. Karl, if you tell him that you went down there, raging at Olivia, and then she ended up unconscious at the bottom of the stairs, what do you reckon that's gonna look like?
KARL: She had an accident!
HENDRIX: I believe you, yeah. But do you think everyone else will?
KARL (sighs): I should have stayed away from her.
HENDRIX: She's the one that's been stirring up trouble, and now you could be about to pay the price. That's not fair.
KARL: No, it's not. But given I wasn't upfront with the police right from the start, it's not gonna help, is it?
HENDRIX: So, don't tell them. You didn't hurt Olivia, Karl, so what's the point of making them think you did? Don't give her the satisfaction. If we stick to our story, we'll be fine.
Karl looks deeply uncomfortable.
The Waterhole
Bea comes across Yashvi and Ned, who are picking up champagne for Shane and Dipi's anniversary lunch. Bea explains she's here for Susan's birthday breakfast.
BEA: But I don't think we'll be popping bottles, with all the Olivia nightmare going on.
YASHVI: Yeah, not exactly what you want on your birthday.
BEA: Mm. Yeah. We're just gonna try and make it special for her. And I'm sure Karl will try and serenade her at some point.
YASHVI: Again, not exactly what you want on your birthday.
BEA: Exactly, that's why I hid the guitar! I think that's the best present anyone can get!
Levi comes in. He has no news on Olivia's condition, but asks if anyone has had any run-ins with her lately. Ned explains how she showed up here yesterday looking for a discount on the Hive.
NED: She pushed things with Bea, and riled up Karl.
LEVI: Wait, really?
YASHVI: Yeah, it got pretty full-on. I had to step in.
LEVI: Why hasn't anyone told me this?
BEA: Why? Because Olivia tripped and fell down a flight of stairs. I don't see the relevance.
LEVI: Yeah, but if Karl had an argument with her...
BEA: Oh, Levi!
LEVI: I'm just trying to get all the information.
YASHVI: It's just normal police procedure.
BEA: Yeah, but you're being ridiculous! You know Karl. You know he wouldn't hurt a fly.
LEVI: My job is to explore every possibility.
Harold's Café
Shane is sitting at a table looking pensive, and Dipi remarks on this. Guessing he's worried about her idea of moving to Sydney, she says she's not going to push him on making a decision.
DIPI: There's a lot to consider.
SHANE: Yeah, most importantly, the kids. Like you said, Jay and Kirsha are the ones who need us most.
DIPI: And before we know it, he and Kirsha will be all grown up, and we would've missed it.
SHANE: But what about this place? The Café's your dream.
DIPI: There's other Cafés in Sydney. Plus, I'm an expert at it now.
SHANE: I just wish we didn't have to make a decision on the lease so soon.
Dipi says that Terese will give them enough time to make the right choice. But Paul, who has come in and overheard this, says...
PAUL: No she won't. No, after the tram debacle, I'm not really feeling that generous, and I don't wanna be mucked around again (...) You either make a decision by the end of the day, or I'm gonna find a new tenant.
Dipi looks upset.
The Waterhole
Karl, Bea and Hendrix are toasting Susan at her birthday breakfast, and she thanks them.
KARL: Oh, and you liked my present!
SUSAN: Yes, yes, it was very pretty (!)
BEA: I tell you what - I reckon Sheila outdid us on the present front. Look at those earrings!
SUSAN: I know, they're pretty special, aren't they?
At this point, Levi turns up, with some questions for Hendrix.
LEVI: I spoke to your teacher, Mr Perkins, and he said that you had already left school for the day by the time Karl arrived. And he wasn't familiar with your gluten-free pizza-base assignment that you were supposedly doing? It's a bit odd, isn't it?
Karl and Hendrix look guilty.
KARL: You're right. There was no assignment. Hendrix didn't call me to the school. He told me Olivia was at the school hassling Susan for a meeting. I didn't want her to be pestered into a conversation she didn't want to have.
Bea and Susan are shocked by this revelation.
SUSAN: I asked you to stay away from her.
KARL: I know, but she wouldn't stop. (to Levi) I wasn't completely honest with you from the start. That was a mistake.
HENDRIX: Which was my idea, okay? It was *my* fault.
LEVI (to Karl): Okay. So would it be fair to say that you sought Olivia out deliberately at the school, and you were already angry by the time you got there?
KARL: (nods)
LEVI: And then you had another argument with her. And then made a false statement to me?
KARL: Yes. But it doesn't change the fact that I didn't push her. She tripped and fell; it was an accident. That's the absolute truth.
LEVI: Well, unfortunately, there's only one person who can corroborate that now.
Karl and Susan look worried.
Lassiter's Complex
Shane and Dipi are leaving Harold's and heading home; Shane is on the phone to Toadie, who's trying out his 'acting' routine as planned.
SHANE: Are you okay? You sound a bit weird... Okay, calm your farm, we'll be there in a tick.
Shane ends the call, then explains to Dipi...
SHANE: I got the distinct impression that he wants us to come home straight away.
DIPI: Nicolette practically just shoved me out of the door.
SHANE: Bit suss, you reckon?
DIPI: Okay, whatever they're planning, just look surprised.
Dipi apologises again for the pressure Paul's piling on as regards the lease; she thought they'd have more time. Shane says it's not her fault, and says he's been thinking he could transfer to a different uni in Sydney. Shane also thinks Toadie would be glad to have the house back to himself, as he's 'pretty happy flying solo'.
DIPI: Yashvi might move in with Ned.
SHANE: Steady on.
DIPI: Okay, I'm only teasing! Obviously we'd want Yashvi and Mackenzie to stick together. She sees her like an older sister.
SHANE: Yeah, there's a point. We made a commitment to Grant to support Mackenzie. He put his trust in us.
DIPI: Yeah, but... she's flourishing. And honestly, she's probably at the age where she might want to spread her own wings, too.
SHANE: Yeah. And Vee and Toadie will be here.
DIPI: And all her friends.
SHANE: What about our friends?
DIPI: It wouldn't be the last we'd see of them. We'd keep in touch, and we'd come back.
SHANE: But do you think that maybe we're jumping on this as a way to escape our own problems?
DIPI: By running away?
SHANE: Yeah. We're gonna have to work on our relationship whether we're here or up in Sydney. And a big move would just put more pressure on us.
DIPI: It could. But if we stay in Erinsborough... there will always be constant reminders of the mistakes we've made.
SHANE: When you put it like that... not too many reasons *not* to go!
No 28
Susan, Karl, and Hendrix arrive home. Susan is chastising Karl and Hendrix for lying to the police.
HENDRIX: I was trying to look out for Karl.
SUSAN: You just made matters worse, for him *and* for yourself! (to Karl) And as for you, why did you go along with it?!
KARL: I wasn't thinking clearly last night.
SUSAN: Well, that's an understatement! And more to the point, Karl, why didn't you just stay away from her like I asked you to?
KARL: I know, I'm sorry I didn't. I just... I feel sick about what's happened to Olivia. If only I hadn't argued with her!
Karl gets a call from the hospital. It's good news - Olivia's waking from her coma. Susan says the police will want to speak to her.
KARL: Hopefully she can set the record straight, and this could all be over soon.

Dipi and Shane come in to find the table all arranged for a posh meal. Yashvi, Mackenzie and Toadie all burst in, screaming, 'Surprise!' and explain it's a belated anniversary lunch.
YASHVI: I thought, because the last one was such a fail, that we probably should celebrate properly.
MACKENZIE: Just family and good vibes.
DIPI: That is an incredible thought.
Shane and Dipi claim they didn't suspect anything, and the family buys it. Shane says a knees-up is just what they all need after the last few months.
DIPI: Although, I think there's something we should tell them before we start.
SHANE: Are you sure now's the right time?
DIPI: I think it's only fair, if we're doing it (...) Shane and I have decided to move to Sydney.
Everyone looks shocked, and Yashvi, not very pleased.
Erinsborough Hospital
Levi is talking to a now-conscious Olivia. Karl and Susan arrive, and hover outside the door, listening.
LEVI: Can you remember why you were at the school?
OLIVIA: Susan was in a meeting, and I was waiting to talk to her.
LEVI: And that's when you ran into Karl?
OLIVIA: I don't know why he was there.
LEVI: Can you describe the conversation you guys had?
OLIVIA: We argued. He was yelling. I was scared.
LEVI: And how did you fall, exactly?
OLIVIA: I didn't fall. He pushed me.
Everyone is shocked.
