Harold's Café
In the kitchen, Dipi is looking at Amy's lease proposal that she stole from Terese's desk. Seeing Shane and Amy come in, she hurriedly puts it away. Amy's excited about having put her proposal in, but tells Shane she isn't getting ahead of herself, as Terese may not like it.
AMY: Who am I kidding? She's gonna love it! (...) But seriously, thank you so much for helping. It means a lot. And ever since I was a little girl making clothes out of Mum's curtains, honestly, I've just always dreamt of having a shop. And now all of my dreams are coming true.
SHANE: You deserve it.
Dipi is listening in from the kitchen, and looks guilty.
The Waterhole
Harlow is with Mackenzie, Ned and Yashvi. Harlow thanks them for hanging out with her, acknowledging she hasn't been much fun lately. Mackenzie says that even if that were true, Harlow's been through heaps, so it's no wonder. Ned and Yashvi advise Harlow not to worry too much about Hendrix, as he'll sort himself out.
Harlow heads off to work. Ned admits to Yashvi and Mackenzie that he was hoping they'd cheer Harlow up more than they did, as Paul and Terese are worried about her. 'Baby steps,' replies Yashvi. Mackenzie says she's spoken to Jay, who has asked her to check in on Hendrix. Ned thinks this is a good idea, but Mack is worried about getting between him and Harlow.
YASHVI: You can hang out with him without being stuck as referee. Just remember, you're Switzerland.
NED: Mm. Hendrix isn't a bad kid; he's just in a bad place. I think a check-in from you would probably do a lot of good.

Karl is helping Hendrix with his homework, and is impressed with how he's doing. Hendrix goes to watch TV, and Karl quietly remarks to Susan, in the kitchen, that it's the first time this week he's had a conversation with Hendrix that hasn't involved Harlow's name.
KARL: Now I've just got to try and get him out of the house.
Hendrix has his headphones on and is watching 'Dating Sideways' on TV.
KARL: Lovely day out there; why don't you get out and catch up with some mates?
HENDRIX (laughs): What mates?
KARL: Come on, you've got plenty of mates, I recall. Why don't you catch up with... oh... well, umm...
Susan looks unimpressed.
HENDRIX: Don't strain yourself trying to think of someone, okay? I'll go.
SUSAN: Hendrix -
HENDRIX (annoyed): I'm doing what you want! I'm going out.
Karl and Susan exchange a glance, as the door slams behind Hendrix.
Lassiter's
In Toadie's office, Dipi is in the process of admitting to Toadie that she stole Amy's proposal, in a bid to prevent Amy from getting the lease to the retail space so that Dipi doesn't lose Shane to Amy forever. Toadie is hugely unimpressed.
TOADIE: I don't want you to lose each other either, but this is not the right way to go about things. What if Shane finds out?
DIPI: Maybe Amy's proposal would never have been picked anyway. Maybe if I stay quiet, no-one will know what I did.
TOADIE: Are you kidding me? No, no - you have to tell Terese.
DIPI: No, Toad, I can't!
TOADIE: Well, you've got no choice. You've got to get Amy's proposal back in the running. Look, if you act fast enough, you can fix this without anyone else finding out.
Dipi very reluctantly agrees that Toadie's right ('I suppose').
Harold's Café
Mackenzie finds a dejected Hendrix sitting alone at a table, and sits next to him, asking how he's going. Fine, comes the reply.
MACKENZIE: I know you've been struggling lately, and I said that I wouldn't talk to Harlow for you - but that doesn't mean that I can't be here if *you* need to talk.
HENDRIX: ... It's been pretty crap. I thought that it would get easier, but... nope.
MACKENZIE: You know, Harlow's been sad, too.
Hendrix suddenly pays attention.
HENDRIX: She has?
MACKENZIE: Don't read into that.
HENDRIX: It's just so hard to accept we're over, when we were so good together.
MACKENZIE: True. But the way things ended was messy, and hurtful. And you've been sort of a caveman lately, and that hasn't helped.
HENDRIX: Yeah. I just wish things could go back to how they were in the beginning, you know? When things weren't so complicated.
MACKENZIE: No matter how good it once was, all Harlow can remember is the bad stuff. Maybe one day she'll look back and see the positives, but that's not where she is right now.
HENDRIX: Mm. I guess.
The Waterhole
Amy is chatting to Ned and Yashvi at a table, and suggests some champagne to pre-emptively celebrate Terese accepting her proposal! Ned remarks that she's very confident.
AMY: Oh, you've gotta be. I mean, if you want something really bad, that's how you manifest it, right?
Ned and Yashvi wish her luck with it, but at that point, Terese comes in, and Amy goes over to see what she thought of her proposal.
TERESE: You said you were gonna send one, but I never received it.
AMY: What? Yeah, it's in your office. I put it on your desk.
TERESE: No. No, it wasn't there.
AMY: Oh, let's just go and check, because I put it right in the middle of your desk.
Amy prepares to send Terese a digital copy, but...
TERESE: Amy, I'm sorry. I've already approved other tenants for the lease. It's too late.

In the garden, Hendrix is cleaning the patio table when Karl and Susan appear. We learn he's invited Mackenzie around to 'hang out', and Karl and Susan are pleased to hear he's going to be spending time with a friend. But Hendrix seems oddly keen to get rid of the Kennedys, suggesting their 'helicopter parenting act' might be 'a bit uncool'.
Mildly offended, Karl and Susan volunteer to 'disappear', and leave just as Mackenzie arrives. She's had an urgent text from Hendrix and rushed over here.
MACKENZIE: What's going on?
HENDRIX: I have a plan to fix things between me and Harlow. I need your help.

In the sun room, Amy is telling Toadie and Shane about her proposal going missing from Terese's desk; she's baffled as to how it could've happened. Toadie looks guilty, but remains silent about what he knows.
AMY: Unless... You don't think...? ... Do you think Dipi could've taken it?
SHANE: How?
AMY: Well, she was there. Like, I put it on Terese's desk, I walk out of the office, and she walked in. Alone. Like, she could've seen it. And taken it, to spite me.
SHANE: Dipi wouldn't do that.
AMY: Well, wouldn't she? Because from where I'm standing, it seems like the only explanation possible.
SHANE: Nah, nah. Something else must've happened. Tell her, Toad.
TOADIE (guiltily): ... I think, that, umm... that maybe you should talk to Dipi, and just, you know, clear it up?
Amy thinks that's a good idea, but Shane warns her to be calm, and not to accuse Dipi as she doesn't know anything yet.
AMY: I'll be calm. I'll be calm.
Shane follows Amy out, leaving Toadie looking sheepish.
The Waterhole
Mackenzie is picking up a pizza; the name 'Greyson' is written on the box, but when Harlow appears behind her, Mackenzie covers the name with her hand, and claims she's taking the pizza home for lunch.
MACKENZIE: Hey, Harlow? Do you think it might help if you talk to Hendrix again, and clear the air? Leave things on a better note than your last conversation?
HARLOW: Look, I'm not gonna say I never want to speak to Hendrix again, but... definitely not yet.
MACKENZIE: But you've been feeling so rubbish, though. I know I was helping you not think about him last week, but with how you've been feeling lately, it might help you feel less awful.
HARLOW: Yeah. I see your logic, but... honestly, right now, the last thing I need is Hendrix in my face again.
MACKENZIE: Copy that.
Mackenzie looks worried, as Harlow walks away.
Harold's Café
Dipi is leaving a voicemail for Terese, admitting to stealing Amy's proposal and asking for Terese to call her back. Shane and Amy appear.
SHANE (to Amy): Remember, go soft, please.
AMY: Sure.
Then, to Dipi...
AMY (shouting): You are a monster!
SHANE: Amy...
AMY: I mean, personal issues are one thing, but going after my business, my livelihood - that is low.
SHANE: Amy, rein it in.
DIPI: I am so sorry.
SHANE: You did it?!
DIPI: I'm really -
AMY: No! You ruined an incredible opportunity for me, and that is not okay! You are a terrible person!
Amy storms out, very upset. Shane asks Dipi for an explanation.
SHANE: Is this payback for her calling Pierce? Are you playing that game now?
DIPI (tearful): No.
SHANE: Then what?!
DIPI: It doesn't matter. I will fix this. I will get Terese to reverse it.
SHANE: You can't, it's done now! I cannot believe you'd stoop this low, Dipi.
Shane walks out, leaving Dipi crying.

When Mackenzie returns to the garden with the pizza, Hendrix is busy laying out a picnic blanket, adorned with pillows, wine and flowers. He thanks her for the pizza, declaring that it's Harlow's favourite.
MACKENZIE: What are you doing? We talked about you fixing things, but that was about getting past the bad vibes - not anything romantic.
HENDRIX: What? I got this idea from you! Yeah, you said that she's too caught up in how things ended, and she can't remember the good times. So I figure, I need to remind her.
MACKENZIE: Hendrix, she doesn't want this, at all!
HENDRIX: No, but you said yourself she's unhappy.
Hendrix explains he's told Harlow he had to return something to her, so she's on her way here right now. He shoos Mackenzie through the gate back into her own garden, then rushes over to the picnic blanket, and lies on it in an attempt at a seductive pose, briefly debating whether or not to put one of the flowers between his teeth! He decides just to hold it. Harlow appears.
HENDRIX: Hi!
HARLOW (annoyed): What is this?
Harold's Café
Yashvi and Ned are chatting to Dipi at the counter. Yashvi tells Dipi that Amy might be staying in town; Dipi admits she's heard this. She doesn't tell them about the debacle with Amy's retail proposal, but at that point, Terese marches in to give Dipi a thorough raging.
TERESE: I just got your voicemail! I can't believe this!
DIPI: Terese, I am so sorry. Tell me what I can do. How can I fix this?
TERESE: You can't!
DIPI: Just, please take back Amy's proposal? It's... it's really good. Just read it.
Dipi's forced to explain her theft of the proposal to Yashvi and Ned.
TERESE: And you are lucky that I'm not taking this any further. This is a massive breach of trust!
DIPI: I know! And I'm so sorry!
TERESE: I have no intentions of getting involved in your family drama. I thought I made that very, very clear to you.
DIPI: Will you please just reconsider her? It's only fair that you do.
TERESE: The lease to the shop has been given to somebody else. So, I guess you got what you wanted.

Indoors, Harlow is heading towards the front door, followed by Hendrix. He admits to Harlow that the picnic was a bad idea, but still wants to talk.
HARLOW (angry): How could you think I'd want any of that?!
HENDRIX: I dunno. I thought it would help. To go back to how things used to be between us. Just for a while. Harlow, it's so easy to think about where it all went wrong. But we had some good times there. Do we really want to walk away from all that?
Harlow's stunned into silence. Hendrix then attempts to present her with the $500 that her Christmas present to him cost - the skydiving experience which he sold to Jeremiah.
HENDRIX: I thought if I pay this back, then we could start from scratch. Clean slate.
HARLOW: Where did you get it?
HENDRIX: Dad.
HARLOW (laughs): Great (!) So you're happy to ask him for money now, but two weeks ago, when it meant that you didn't have to lie to me, what? You just wanted to go and be the big man? You actually cannot buy your way out of this!
HENDRIX: That's not it, Harlow. Okay? I care about you. I love you.
HARLOW: Oh, I can't even deal with this.
Harlow storms out of the door, despite Hendrix's protests, past Karl and Susan who are just returning. Hendrix looks gutted.
Harold's Café
Dipi is crying in the kitchen. An unimpressed Yashvi comes in to talk.
DIPI: Let me have it. I deserve it.
YASHVI: Well, I'm surprised. It's a pretty extreme thing to do. But I'm worried about you, Mum.
DIPI: It's just Amy. She... she gets under my skin. Look how vindictive she was with Pierce. And then the lip sync event, she -
YASHVI: So this has nothing to do with Dad being with someone else?
DIPI: Amy Greenwood is not right for your dad. She just isn't.
YASHVI: Okay, well, if you want my opinion, then Amy's not the worst. Not that she's more suited than you; I've wanted you two to be together for ages. But, Mum, you had your chance, and you didn't fight for him. And now I've gotten to know Amy a little bit, and... she's fine. She's hectic, but she's nice. And more importantly, she makes Dad happy. And this situation is bringing out the worst in you, and that's not making anyone happy. I just think this is the universe telling you that it's time to let Dad go.
Dipi doesn't look ready to hear this.

Susan and Karl are talking to Hendrix on the couch. Karl says they'd hoped that Hendrix's counselling would help him move past Harlow.
SUSAN: After what happened at Harold's last week, did you really think Harlow would be up for this?
HENDRIX (upset): I dunno. I didn't think. I just did. I wanted her back. I still want her back.
SUSAN: Hendrix, we understand that this hurts.
KARL: And sometimes when it hurts, there's nothing you can do about it.
HENDRIX: Well, there has to be something. I can't just accept that it's over. That I ruined it because I was stupid.
KARL: Sometimes you don't have a choice, mate.
SUSAN: Right now, you've just got to give her some space.
KARL: Anything you want to get off your chest, you can talk to us. We're here for you.
HENDRIX (crying): I love her. And I made her hate me. Do you have any idea what that feels like?
Susan and Karl exchange a knowing glance.
KARL: We can both imagine.
HENDRIX: You're right, though. It's over this time, for good.

Shane and Amy are on the couch, when Toadie comes in with a sheepish Dipi. She says she wants to apologise properly, but...
AMY: Yeah, I can't do this. I can't even look at you.
Amy gets up and walks out of the house, followed swiftly by Shane.
TOADIE: Well, you certainly made a mess of things, didn't you?
DIPI: Everyone's had a go today, and rightly so. Enough is enough. I have to let Shane go.
TOADIE: Or you could actually tell him the truth, tell him how you feel. Cos right now, he thinks that this is just payback, that you're out for revenge.
DIPI: No, Toad, I already had my chance. He is happy with Amy.
TOADIE: Uh-huh. How do you expect him to make an informed decision, when he doesn't even know that you're an option?
DIPI: ... He wouldn't want me anymore. Not after today.
TOADIE: Okay, yes, you stuffed up. You made a mistake. But let's look at the big picture here - you and Shane. Isn't that worth fighting for?
DIPI: ...
TOADIE: Dipi, this could be your last chance to tell him how you feel. Don't let that pass you by.
Dipi looks conflicted.
The Waterhole
Hendrix is having a drink with Mackenzie.
HENDRIX: You were right. It was a terrible idea.
MACKENZIE: I'm so sorry. I should've tried harder to stop you. She even said before that she wasn't ready to talk to you, so...
HENDRIX: Wait, seriously? (...) Why didn't you say something?
MACKENZIE: I tried to, right before you pushed me out.
HENDRIX: Yeah, I would've cancelled if you'd told me what she said. I know I was a bit full on, but you could've tried a hell of a lot harder! Instead, you just let me make things worse. Thanks a lot, Mackenzie (!)
Hendrix walks out, just as Harlow comes in. She starts telling Mackenzie about Hendrix's picnic, and Mackenzie goes quiet, eventually admitting that she already knew about it.
MACKENZIE: I tried to stop him. But I guess I just didn't do a good enough job of it (...) I thought he just wanted to talk to you. That's why I was asking you these questions when we were here before. But then when I got back, and I saw the picnic setup -
HARLOW: Why didn't you warn me?
MACKENZIE: Look, there wasn't time.
HARLOW (angry): What do you mean? You didn't even try! You let me walk into that mortifying scene after I told you that's exactly what I didn't want to do. Thanks a lot (!)
Now it's Harlow's turn to stomp out! Mackenzie looks upset.

Shane's in the sun room when Dipi comes in.
SHANE: I don't want to hear it.
DIPI: No, can I just say one thing? I have to be honest with you about why I did what I did.
Dipi cries as she speaks.
DIPI: I'm scared, because if she stays in Erinsborough, then that is it for us. We are never getting back together. And I know I don't have any claim to you, and I know I should let you go, but I just... I can't. I lied when I told you I was happy for you to move on. I'm not. I still want to try to see if we can make this work. I love you.
Shane listens quietly, giving little away...
