Number 32
After having their 'afternoon delight', Clive and Jane discuss their future - despite the complication (aka Sheila!) they both want to give being a couple a go but decide to do it on the quiet, and if it does get serious, then they plan to tell her. Jane isn't too happy though "fooling around" behind Sheila's back, but Clive plans to meet with her later and explain that it is over [between them].
CLIVE: I can at least be honest about that.
Harold's café
Over a cuppa with Aaron and Chloe, we hear Nicolette explain to them her new game plan - "engaging a lawyer and getting a job," in the hope that she can convince David (and Aaron) that things will be smooth sailing and "no more drama." She is still though bitter at what Audrey did, and despite the possibility of up to 2 years inside (but hoping for a community corrections order), she refuses their offer of financial help to get herself a good lawyer.
Number 22
Paul is now swithering whether to head to New York after David drops in by again on his way home from work, thus avoiding a bit longer heading home. Even Terese agrees that it's obvious how David is avoiding home (he's inside at this point getting a drink) but doesn't want Paul to pull out of his trip as she thinks him staying around is going to make things worse.
TERESE: David just needs some time to get his head around what's happening... and so do you. This trip will do you both good.
Number 26
Sheila is busy tidying the house up just in case things go well with Clive and the end up back at #26. She's even managed to ensure she has the house to herself tonight too as both Levi and Dipi will be out - although Roxy plans to pop over at some point to do a 'Sound of Music' video for Kyle after he liked her Heidi one!
Number 32
Nicolette has heard from the police - Marco's son wants the $50k from her back pronto! Since Nicolette is skint, Chloe suggests asking Jane, but she is refusing to do that as she'd rather get a job so she can pay it back herself.
The Waterhole (veranda)
Sheila still looks nervous (she admitted that to Roxy) as she arrives to meet Clive. "I miss you," she admits to him before going on the offensive - that she called things off to punish herself before he called things off when the truth got out.
SHEILA: And all I've been thinking about lately is how I ruined a really good thing, the best thing, and I've learned my lesson this time... honestly.
CLIVE: Christmas has a way of making people take stock I guess.
SHEILA: Life's too short Clive, we need to be together.
Clive replies that "there was a time when I would have given anything to hear you say those words," but then adds that while he loved "what we had," also adds "we can't go back."
CLIVE: I just need you to understand that. And I hope that we can still stay friends.
Number 22
Given David should have been home long ago, Aaron comes calling to see where his husband is. Terese explains the delay - that they've been discussing Paul's forthcoming trip to America. Aaron seems thrilled (on behalf of Amy and Jimmy) when he hears why Paul is going to America. David isn't too keen on heading home with Aaron and ends up only leaving when he is reminded that it is his turn to cook and doesn't want to face the wrath of an angry Jane for messing up the rota!
"I do not like seeing the tension between those two," Paul admits to Terese after the pair have left. Terese tries to downplay it, saying it is just "uncomfortable."
PAUL: Come on Terese, we both know what it was and exactly who's behind it.
The Waterhole (veranda)
Sheila is having a heard time believing that Clive does want them to be over, especially because of his forgive yourself speech. "Because I wanted you to find happiness," he tries to explain to her and that he wants her to be able to move on too, although Sheila looks aghast at the thought of dating!
Number 22
"Good lord!" Terese exclaims after seeing a nun in her house... well Roxy dressed up as a sexy version of a nun for her latest video to Kyle. "You don't have to dress up every time you sent Kyle a message," Terese points out to her, adding that she is sure "he'd like to see the real Roxy too." Roxy isn't sure and confides in her aunt about him not being very communicative, although Terese is sure that is down to his mind being on Bossy. The lass gets that, hence her plan to help cheer him up... "and double the points if it distracts him from the hot ex he's been hanging out with" too!
TERESE: You're not worried he's going to cheat with Georgia?!
"No!" Roxy begins with but then she's heard how Georgia came back and "swept him off his feet" and admits it's made her nervous. "They also broke up again," Terese reminds her, which Roxy gets along with the fact she does trust him... "but he's so far away" and doesn't want Kyle to "forget about the good things he's got waiting at home."
Number 32
Not even Jane being ribbed by her housemates (for being addicted to her phone as she waits nervously for a message from Clive) nor hearing Nicolette explain about her endeavours to repay the money to Marco's family is enough to make David come out of the foul mood he is in as he cooks the food on the barbie.
"Can't you see she's trying," Aaron is forced to say to his husband after sending Nicolette inside on an errand. David isn't budging from his stance because he knows she is "only trying so hard because she has to" and to make things look good for her court appearance so she gets "a lesser sentence."
AARON: You sound a lot like Paul right now David. She's not running from her mistakes; she's owning up to them.
DAVID: That doesn't mean I have to automatically forgive her.
The tension is broken somewhat when Jane finally gets her text but its not from Clive, it's from Paul asking her to pop over.
Lassiters car park
Sheila is sitting in her car, visibly upset after her meeting with Clive.
Number 22
Paul is trying to get Jane onboard to try and resolve the issue with their respective kids - he wants her to join him in being against "this ridiculous scheme." "Nicolette is already pregnant," she reminds him and thus all they can do is "offer support" plus she knows too that when bubs comes along, he will be fully on board and love the child.
PAUL: It's not the baby I am upset about. It's Nicolette and the fact that the boys are going to be at her mercy for the rest of their lives.
Jane is sure that Nicolette will "honour the agreement," but Paul points out that neither of them trust Nicolette. "That's not true," she protests and while acknowledging that the lass, like everyone else, has made mistakes, Paul has now made things personal. Jane demands that he either "supports what is going on" or he can "say goodbye to our friendship."
JANE: Your choice.
The Waterhole (veranda)
Aaron and the other housemates (minus Jane) have relocated to the pub to see if hanging out like mates will improve things. When Nicolette gets a text, she hopes it's about a job [turns out it isn't] and the quartet start chatting over what jobs she could do. Aaron suggests using her nursing to be a private nurse, but David immediately explains that is ruled out, so Chloe tries to spin it as Nicolette getting a fresh start.
When David is about to go call Amy to talk to her about Paul's impending visit, Aaron confesses that she is okay. He explains to his husband about calling Leo and that they came up with this plan to get Paul out of town to try and diffuse the tension.
AARON: We need a break.
While not happy, he went behind his back, David can see why Aaron did what he did so they can "moving forward with our satiation" rather than "backwards."
Number 32
Clive is over to tell Jane about his conversation with Sheila. He admits it was "awful seeing her so hurt," but knows it was right to say something rather than giving her "false hope." "It sounds like it was a very difficult conversation to have," Jane acknowledges, especially as Sheila had no inclination about what was going to be said, and "feels selfish forcing this on her." "You didn't force anything, it had to be said," he replies and adds in that irrespective of what happens between them, "Sheila and I played out."
JANE: Well this was a pretty big moment for you too, the end of a chapter.
CLIVE: Maybe the start of a new one?
Number 22
Paul is outside in the backyard watching the stars, still contemplating whether to go to America or not when Terese comes outside. "I feel I need to stick around for David," is his rationale although she points out that "there is nothing that you can do to help your situation." She isn't surprised to hear that Jane doesn't want to get involved either and reminds him that Nicolette is pregnant and thus "this is actually happening."
PAUL: So what, I'm just supposed to accept it am I?!
TERESE: Well if you can't, your friendship with Jane might not be the only thing you lose.
PAUL: I'm just so terrified that its going to end badly for them.
Terese gets that but reminds him that there is a big support network there as a "safety net."
TERESE: Look, all I'm asking is that you think of David. The last thing he needs is you highlighting all the things that can go wrong, especially when he's in so much turmoil. You go on this trip and you come back excited about this grandchild of yours... our grandchild.
Number 26
Roxy is surprised to see Sheila home so early... and alone. On seeing Roxy as a nun, Sheila comments that she is looking at a picture of her future!
ROXY: What's happened?
SHEILA: I went there and I laid it all on the line for Clive and he said there's no future for us.
ROXY: What?! How can he say that! Is he some sort of psychic?
SHEILA: Well he can and he did. He said he doesn't love me any more and that he's already moved on.
ROXY: Well then he's a complete idiot.
Roxy suggests that they "spend the rest of the night talking about what" as she feels Sheila shouldn't be on her own however, with Roxy in the nun outfit, Sheila feels that the lass will be "hearing my confession!" Instead, to let Roxy still do her video, Sheila plans on going to see Jane!
The Waterhole (veranda)
Aaron isn't too amused to hear that David is going to be bailing from the "pot luck" supper the next day in favour of doing an extra shift at work. "What's going on?" Aaron asks after Nicolette leaves the table to talk a phonecall. "I need the distraction," is David's explanation, adding that "there's so many voices around, wishing their own opinions" and unlike what Aaron presumes, it isn't just Paul that is being vocal.
AARON: Okay, so you want a break from me too huh?
DAVID: I just need some space for me to re-set.
"Everyone deals with things in their own way," Chloe interjects to the conversation just as Nicolette returns to the table. She tells them that the call was from Marco's son (Ricardo) who is heading to Melbourne and wants to meet up.
Number 32
Over a glass of wine, Clive and Jane are doing the 'getting to know each other' routine and when 'romance' comes up, Clive asks Jane what her "idea of romance" is. Initially she replies that its "hard to put into words" so getting off her deckchair, and onto his, she goes to show him instead...
It is just at that moment, Sheila has arrived to talk to her friend, having let herself into the house! This causes the pair to quickly spring apart and Jane rushes into the house to stop Sheila entering the garden (Clive is trying to disentangle himself from his deckchair after he got himself tangled up as he landed on the grass.)
When Jane enters the house, Sheila can sense something is wrong as Jane, who said she was alone, has lipstick all over her face! She comes up with several lame excuses to try and explain it, but Sheila isn't falling for any of them and wanting to talk to her friend, while getting some fresh air, heads out into the garden...
