Number 24
Chloe teases Pierce for knocking on the door instead of using his keys, but is pleased to see him. Pierce says he wants to talk about moving back in, which Chloe is cautiously optimistic about. She tells him if he feels like he's rushing things he should take more time, but Pierce says he's taken all the time he needs. They admit they missed each other and Pierce says he'll move back home tonight.
Number 30
Shane notices Dipi is in a morose mood. Dipi can't exactly tell her husband she's brooding over her lost love affair with Pierce, so she says she has a headache instead. Toadie wants to go out to the backyard but Shane stops him before he can see the renovations. Toadie asks how much longer they're going to be inconvenienced, but Shane smiles and says there'll be a grand unveiling that evening. He then says he'll text Mackenzie to let her know and tells Dipi he can't wait for her to see his work. Dipi puts on a smile and says she can't wait either.
The Waterhole
Roxy asks Mackenzie what she's afraid of when it comes to sex. Mackenzie tells her she's worried that something might go wrong, or that she'll be bad at it. Roxy assures her that everyone stresses about their first time, but Mackenzie reminds her that she's not everyone.
MACKENZIE: It's more complicated. What if it's not easy?
ROXY: Okay, you can't do it just because you think that's what Richie wants. It's your body and you need to want it too.
MACKENZIE: I guess.
ROXY: Richie needs to know what's going on.
Mackenzie nods at Roxy.
Harold's Café
Dipi asks Jane and Nicolette for their order, but they're too busy bantering about Jane's spa voucher she won. Jane smirks and says that she can't take her daughter along with her because Nic complains she talks too much, then jokingly says she might go alone and "bump into my very own Phantom". Dipi's like, "Yeah, maybe!" then skedaddles before Jane can say more. Nicolette has no idea what her mum is on about and coaxes the story out of Jane about her seeing Dipi and 'Phantom' Shane kiss outside the day spa. Realising there's nothing juicy to the story, just a husband and wife kissing, Nicolette bids adieu to her mum and heads home. She passes Pierce on her way out, throwing in a barb about him looking tired from his uncomfortable hotel bed as she goes. Pierce then heads to the counter to order coffee from Dipi and the two of the make stilted chit-chat.
Number 32
Chloe is showing Aaron and David photos on her iPad from the Halloween event. She's supposed to choose some good ones for the website but complains that the new photographer did a bad job. Aaron points out one of Hendrix in his avocado costume, but Chloe thinks he looks salty in it. There is a nice one of Hendrix and Harlow together, though, and Chloe says she hopes the two teens can work things out. Nicolette arrives home and joins in on looking at the photos. Chloe shows her one of Jane and Dipi together and says she'll text it to Nic's phone. They swipe through some more pics but Nicolette's confused when she sees one of Pierce dressed as the Phantom of the Opera.
NICOLETTE: Did Pierce go as Phantom too?
CHLOE: What do you mean too? He was the only one.
NICOLETTE: Are you sure?
CHLOE: Yeah, positive.
DAVID: I didn't see any others in the photos.
After what her mother just told her about Dipi kissing the Phantom, Nicolette's suspicions are immediately on high alert.
Number 30
Shane ushers Toadie out of the renovation area, but Toadie promises he didn't see much. Nicolette drops by under the premise of talking to Toadie about how much she enjoyed volunteering at the foundation, but she's really there to investigate. She pretends she's looking for info on costume shops because she wants to start some dress-up days at work and asks the guys where they got their Halloween outfits. Toadie says he just slapped on some zombie make-up to take the kids out, then makes fun of Shane for wearing the same costume to every fancy dress event no matter what the theme.
SHANE: I'm not going to fork out for costume hire when I've got a perfectly awesome pirate outfit hanging in my wardrobe.
TOADIE: It's called imagination, mate.
NICOLETTE: Pirate! I thought you went as Phantom?
SHANE: Nah, that was Pierce. Easy mistake to make I guess.
TOADIE: Dream on, feather-beard.
SHANE: I really should have gone as something musical themed. Dipi would have loved it.
Nicolette puts two and two together and determines that the music of the night has a distinct melody of cheating.
Number 24
Richie is trying to study for exams with Hendrix but his mind is concerned with other matters. He asks Hendrix if he can add another tent to the Schoolies booking so he and Mackenzie can "have some alone time". Hendrix says it's a big step, which Richie agrees with, especially when it comes to Mackenzie. "It's a huge deal for her and she means a lot to me. I don't want to stuff this up," Richie says earnestly.
HENDRIX: Do you want some advice?
RICHIE: No, no, I said I don't want to stuff it up.
HENDRIX: Haha, okay funny guy. You're on your own then.
RICHIE: All right, fine. Give me your advice.
HENDRIX: It's simple: listen to her.
RICHIE: Since when do you listen? Is Harlow even talking to you right now?
HENDRIX: Exactly. Learn from my mistakes. If you listen, and I mean really tune in to what Mackenzie wants, you'll have nothing to worry about.
Harold's Café
Detective Nic continues her investigation by dropping into the Café and asking Dipi if she's seen her jacket she 'lost'. When Dipi says that no one has handed anything in, Nicolette says she must have left it at the Community Centre instead. Dipi smiles and says it's lovely that Nicolette is volunteering, then asks how everything is going with new housemate Jane. Nicolette jokes that they haven't tried to kill each other yet.
NICOLETTE: She does not shut up about that spa voucher though, it's like she's never won anything before in her life. Pity there was no prize for best dressed. Shane would have totally taken that with his Phantom.
DIPI: (uneasy) I didn't realise you were there. How do you know what costume Shane was wearing?
NICOLETTE: Mum might have mentioned it, that she saw you coming out of the spa.
DIPI: Right.
NICOLETTE: Just in passing. It sounded very sweet.
DIPI: It was. Shane knows I love him in that outfit.
NICOLETTE: Brownie points for the husband then.
Dipi looks extremely shaken up after Nicolette leaves.
Number 24
Mackenzie drops by to see how the boys' exam revision is going and to ask if Richie wants to swing by her place later to hang out. Richie is keen but their conversation is halted when Mackenzie receives a phone call from Harlow. Whatever information Mackenzie hears on the call appears to alarm her, but she gathers herself and pretends she's chill. After she hangs up, she tells Richie and Hendrix that their school friends Dylan and Emily broke up. They're all in shock because apparently the couple had been together since Year 7. Richie asks if Harlow told her the reason for the break-up, but Mackenzie quickly shakes her head and says Harlow only told her because it messes up their Schoolies booking and they'll need to work something out. Richie muses that it must have been "something pretty massive" to bust Dylan and Emily up, which only makes Mackenzie look more unsettled.
Number 32
Jane can sense that Nicolette has been quite moody since she got home and is worried she's having second thoughts about living together. Nicolette assures her mum it's not that, but can't admit the truth so she says she's trying to deal with a tricky situation at work.
NICOLETTE: I found out something about someone, and it's bad, and people are going to get hurt. And I can't prove it, but I'm pretty certain if I get in the middle of it, it'll only backfire on me.
JANE: Then don't get in the middle of it.
NICOLETTE: Easier said than done.
JANE: Are you sure this person at work is doing the wrong thing? That you're not just misreading the situation?
NICOLETTE: No, trust me, I'm not.
Number 30
Shane tells Mackenzie that he'll take the tarp down outside once everyone gets home for the big reveal. Mackenzie tries to be enthused, but she's preoccupied with thoughts about Richie and the important conversation she needs to have with him. She tells Shane she's going for a walk and if Richie pops by to let him know she'll be back soon. Mackenzie passes Dipi on her way out, who is home early from work because she too is preoccupied with too many distracting thoughts. Shane assumes it's still her headache troubling her and tells her to sit on the couch while he gets some water and meds for her. Shane says he thinks she's going to love what he's done with the renovations, but this only makes Dipi upset and she starts to cry.
SHANE: What is it?
DIPI: I'm sorry.
SHANE: No, no, don't be. If you're not up for the big reveal then we can just do it tomorrow. Hey, I'm here for you no matter what. You know that.
Dipi doesn't have a response for her husband.
The Waterhole
Hendrix is happy to find his dad and Chloe having lunch together, and even happier to hear that Pierce is moving back home that evening. Hendrix asks if that means moving out of Erinsborough is "dead in the water" now, but Pierce says they'll take things one step at a time.
Number 22 Backyard
Mackenzie has sought out Roxy for another chat. Roxy asks if Mackenzie has told Richie how she's feeling yet, but it appears the teen has had a sudden change of heart. Mackenzie has now decided that she's ready to sleep with Richie. Roxy says it's a bit strange considering how apprehensive Mackenzie was feeling only a few hours ago. She asks what has changed, but Mackenzie says she just freaked out before and was over-thinking everything.
ROXY: Your first time you can over-think it. If there's anything to be over-thought it's definitely that.
MACKENZIE: I get it, seriously I do.
ROXY: I just want you to be sure.
MACKENZIE: I am. I love Richie and I want him to be the one.
The Waterhole
Aaron and David chat with Chloe and ask if she wants to have dinner with them tonight. But Chloe surprises them when she says she can't because Pierce is moving back home. Aaron says it's about time and sits with Chloe to keep chatting while David goes to the counter to place their order. Aaron wants to know what this all means about them possibly moving away. Chloe says it's still on the table. She doesn't really want to leave, but Pierce thinks a fresh start might be exactly what they need. Nicolette walks in and overhears their conversation, finding out that Pierce is moving back to Ramsay Street. She's very rattled by the news.
CHLOE: It was his idea but we're both committed to working hard to save our marriage.
NICOLETTE: Are you sure you're not rushing it?
CHLOE: We're not, I promise.
NICOLETTE: (painting on a smile) Well then I hope it works out for you.
CHLOE: Thank you.
Making up her umpteenth excuse for the day, Nicolette pretends she left her wallet at home and asks if Chloe would mind shouting her a coffee. While Chloe is busy at the counter, and Aaron has conveniently left the table to take a phone call, Nicolette steals Chloe's hotel keycard from her lanyard.
Number 30
Dipi and Mackenzie are both lost in their own worlds while they sit on the couch and mindlessly watch TV. Shane wants to unveil his renovations but can't do it until Toadie gets home, so Dipi decides to go for a walk and get some fresh air in the meantime. Speaking of Toadie, Shane gets a phone call from his brother and heads outside for a chat, letting him know he might ask Kyle to have a look at the renos to check for any mistakes before it's unveiled. Richie arrives to catch up with Mackenzie and tells her that Dylan has apparently already hooked up with a girl from Anson's Corner. Mackenzie can't believe how quick the guy moved on after his break-up and asks how Emily is doing. Richie says she's devastated and has pulled out of Schoolies. Richie then brings up the idea of him and Mackenzie getting their own tent together. He thinks it could be romantic and a good chance for them to have alone time if she's still okay with that. Mackenzie smiles and says she can't wait, which of course is a big lie.
Lassiters Hotel: Pierce's Suite
Nicolette lets herself into Pierce's room after checking he's not there. She snoops around and looks inside the drawers before searching through Pierce's packed suitcase. After rifling through some of his clothes, Nicolette finds the serviette Dipi wrapped the diamond necklace in. Recalling something, Nicolette looks at the photo of Jane and Dipi on her phone that Chloe sent and matches the necklace Dipi has on to the one she just found. Suddenly she hears Pierce on his phone outside the door - the Phantom of the Opera is there! Nicolette quickly runs and hides in the bathroom, praying she won't be found.
Harold's Café
Roxy finds Mackenzie and sits at her table for a chat.
ROXY: Some people make assumptions that I'm easy because of the way I dress.
MACKENZIE: Not me.
ROXY: But I don't dress for boys, I dress for myself.
MACKENZIE: Okay?
ROXY: Because no one can tell me how to think, how to feel or what to do with my body.
MACKENZIE: I told you this is what I want.
ROXY: Are you sure? Because it doesn't seem like it. Something's happened hasn't it.
Mackenzie keeps pretending that everything is fine, but Roxy says she's willing to sit there all day until Mac confesses what's troubling her. It doesn't take long for Mackenzie to give in and tell Roxy that a guy at school called Dylan broke up with his girlfriend because she wouldn't have sex with him.
ROXY: Well then Dylan's a slug and Richie wouldn't do that to you.
MACKENZIE: But what if he would? He really wants this and if I say no...
ROXY: You don't have to do anything that doesn't feel right. You hear me?
MACKENZIE: There are still a couple of weeks until Schoolies. I have got plenty of time to get my head around it.
ROXY: And if you don't?
MACKENZIE: I will. I've made up my mind.
Lassiters Hotel: Pierce's Suite
Nicolette is still hiding in the bathroom when there's a knock at the main door. Dipi has come by to see Pierce. She knows she shouldn't be there but she had to get out of the house.
DIPI: I miss you. It just ended so quickly.
PIERCE: It has to.
DIPI: I know, and I'm not here to change your mind. It just feels like we left it unfinished.
PIERCE: Yeah.
There's an awkward pause and Dipi thinks she should leave, but Pierce stops her.
PIERCE: Dipi it does feel unfinished, but it has to be. For both of our sakes, for both of our marriages.
But then Pierce adds that he doesn't want to leave things like this either. He says he has to get to a meeting but asks Dipi to stop by again tonight. Nicolette cannot believe what she's just overheard.
