Lassiter's Complex
We pick up where we left off; Finn grabs Dean by the jacket and demands to know why he's been following Elly.
FINN: You said you'd stay away from her; we had a deal!
Toadie witnesses the confrontation and rushes over, giving Dean the opportunity to make his escape. Finn explains to Toadie that Dean was the kid who blackmailed Elly, and now he's following her. Toadie asks if Dean being here might just be coincidence, but Finn says he knows what he saw - and that Dean is trouble.
No 28
Bea is running some of her song lyrics past Elly, who thinks they're beautiful.
BEA: I used to only dream at night, but now it's all the time,
Thinking of the love we share - thinking how you're mine.
Bea explains that the song is about Finn; she kind of owes him a tribute, after the last song she wrote about him was (famously) all about how 'sorry won't turn back time'! A nice gesture might help her get things back to normal with Finn, she adds.
Finn comes in, and Bea excitedly prepares to tell him about her song - but he cuts her off, making a beeline for Elly instead. He explains she was right about being watched, telling her how he caught Dean following her, but that he bolted before he could find out why.
FINN: I think you should go to the police.
ELLY: Okay, you need to slow down. Maybe I'll talk to him first.
FINN: No, let the cops handle that. He's stalking you - you need to report him!
ELLY: I will think about it, okay? In the meantime, Bea's got something she wants to talk to you about.
BEA: ... Oh, no, it was nothing.
No 24
Chloe and Pierce are going over their wedding arrangements, when Hendrix emerges from his room with a full rucksack to take back to No 28; they hadn't realised he was here. Pierce suggests he stay for something to eat.
HENDRIX: I don't live here anymore.
PIERCE: That doesn't mean you can't stay and talk -
But Hendrix has already left. Pierce is despondent.
CHLOE: It's going to take time.
PIERCE: But we're getting married tomorrow. I don't want to have to drag him to the wedding kicking and screaming.
CHLOE: We could let him sit it out.
PIERCE: No. We've got to find a way to get through this together, alright? That's how I want to start this marriage - as a family.
Chloe tells Pierce she's asked Karl to organise him a buck's party at The 82 tonight, so that might be an opportunity to chat to Hendrix. For his part, Pierce admits he's also asked Dipi and Sheila to organise a hen's party for Chloe.
CHLOE: Dipi and Sheila?!
PIERCE: Yeah, well, they love organising things. It would've been awkward if I'd asked Elly.
CHLOE: (...) You did good. What is a hen party without show tunes and garden gnomes?
They kiss, thanking one another for the respective surprise parties.
Lassiter's Complex
Elly is walking through the courtyard when Dean emerges.
ELLY: You *are* following me!
DEAN: Tickets, much?
ELLY: Oh, if that's the case then maybe I should just go to the police station.
DEAN: Wait up.... I heard you got the sack.
ELLY: I bet you find that hilarious.
DEAN: It's not *not* funny... Wait, wait, hang on. I'm joking because... I'm nervous.
ELLY: What about?
DEAN: Was it because of me, that you got fired?
ELLY: That only happened recently. You're not even a student there anymore.
DEAN: But maybe I was part of the reason. Your first black mark, or something.
ELLY: Don't tell me you feel bad, Dean? (!)
DEAN: Look, I heard about your baby's dad... That he died.
ELLY: Yes, and you stalking me doesn't make that any easier.
DEAN: I didn't mean to scare you. I've just been working up the guts to say... sorry.
ELLY: You want to apologise? Why now?
DEAN: Things at home got hard, so I left. I dropped out of school, but I couldn't find work. I've been couch-surfing ever since. It made me realise how crap I was to you, when your life sucked enough already. I didn't mean to freak you out, miss. I won't bother you anymore.
Dean walks off.

In the garden, Karl moans to Hendrix about how much Gary is charging him for the buck's event at The 82, despite Karl owning the place! Karl none-too-subtly asks Hendrix whether Pierce might stump up.
HENDRIX: Sure. Dad loves to flash his cash - that's how he makes friends, or does anything.
KARL: That's a bit harsh, isn't it? Do you want to come down early and help me set up?
HENDRIX: I'm not going.
KARL: What? Your dad'll be terribly disappointed if you're not there for his big celebration.
HENDRIX: I wouldn't count on it.
KARL: But you're the best man.
HENDRIX: Yeah, and they usually organise the buck's. You've got the gig, so why do I have to be there, Karl?
Roxy turns up.
ROXY: So, this is where the hotties are at!
HENDRIX: Oh, give it up, princess.
ROXY: So you're still cranky with me.
KARL: No, he's cranky with everyone, don't worry.
ROXY: I get it. You're crashing at your principal's house, with a preggers lady, an emo couple, and a MAMIL who's obsessed with fluoro bike gear. It could be worse; you could be living with Harlow.
Karl leaves them to it. Roxy asks if Hendrix is going to the buck's night - he says not. Roxy says she's been invited to Chloe's but 'since we don't hang out', she'd rather spend the evening with Hendrix. Hendrix agrees to this plan of action.
Meanwhile, indoors, Elly is telling Karl, Finn and Bea about her encounter with Dean. She's checked with some of the parents that know his family and his story checks out - he quit school and left home. Karl, Bea and Finn are still concerned given Elly's history with Dean, but Elly doesn't see the point in putting in a police report, and Dean's promised to stop following her.
There's a knock at the door. It's Finn's mother, Claudia!
CLAUDIA: Hello, Finn. It's good to see you.
FINN: It is?
CLAUDIA: Of course. Look, I know this is out of the blue. I enjoyed our phone calls - talking about Shaun - so I thought I'd come and visit.
Claudia wastes no time commenting on Elly's baby bump, and asks if she can feel. Elly unenthusiastically agrees.
CLAUDIA: Hello, bubby - it's Grandma!
Elly looks worried.
Shortly afterwards, Claudia, Elly and Finn are sitting around the table, while Karl and Bea linger in the kitchen.
CLAUDIA: I just haven't been myself since Shaun died.
FINN: None of us have.
CLAUDIA: It's all I could think about. How they never found his body. How everyone just gave up. He was my baby. I can't even put him to rest.
FINN: ... Why exactly are you here?
CLAUDIA: Losing Shaun made me re-evaluate things. You're the only family I have.
BEA (quietly, to Karl): Yeah, family she never wanted.
CLAUDIA: I know I haven't been a good mother to you. It's hard to admit, but it's true. I want to change that. And I want to get to know you and Elly, and be there for my grandchild.
ELLY: Do you expect us to just forget what you did? Pushing that co-parenting agreement onto me and Shaun?
CLAUDIA: I just wanted to be sure that Shaun would have a place in the child's life.
But Elly's heard enough, and stomps off to get ready for the hen party. Finn tells Karl he'll skip the buck's party and stay here with Claudia.
BEA (to Karl): Do you think she's for real?
KARL: I'm not sure. I hope Finn can work that out.
The Waterhole
Bea and Elly arrive for Chloe's hen night. Elly's moaning about Claudia's cheek at turning up and expecting to be welcomed into her baby's life with open arms. Bea adds that Claudia's caused enough damage in Finn's life. They agree not to think about it now, and join Chloe, Sheila and Dipi, who are perched around a table that's covered in flowers.
CHLOE: So, what is this - arts and crafts?

Dipi explains they're making flower crowns, so that Chloe's 'inner goddess can shine'. Chloe quietly moans to Elly and Bea about getting lumbered with Dipi and Sheila as her party organisers! Elly says that Pierce probably felt too awkward to ask her.
CHLOE: Bingo. You know what? Flower crowns it is - and we are gonna pimp the heck out of them!
Elly gets up, ostensibly to go to the bathroom, but we see her smiling as she surreptitiously fiddles with her phone...
The 82
Meanwhile at the tram, a similarly under-populated buck's night is kicking off, comprising Pierce, Shane, Toadie, Karl and extras, to whom Gary is serving emu and kangaroo pies.
SHANE: Ah, we're dining on the full coat of arms tonight, are we?
Toadie notes Shane's friendliness towards Gary (which still feels particularly insincere, though Toadie doesn't appear to clock this at first).
TOADIE: Good on ya for making nice.
SHANE: Yeah, I'm only doing it to annoy Dipi.
TOADIE: Oh, right. So you heard me say, 'make friends with Gary', and thought, 'nah, I'll stir the pot instead'?
SHANE: Pretty much, yeah.
TOADIE: Good luck with that.
SHANE: Thanks.
Pierce doesn't seem to be in full party mood, and admits to Karl that he wishes Hendrix had come. Karl says he did his best to convince him, but that Hendrix was adamant. He asks if Pierce can tell him what the fall-out was about, but Pierce isn't keen, and says it's a story for another time.
PIERCE: It's just frustrating, you know. I can read a business rival, no problem. But my own son?
Toadie and Shane are watching Pierce from nearby.
TOADIE: Doesn't look like he's enjoying himself very much.
SHANE: Yeah. To be fair, it's not the most exciting buck's I've ever been to.
TOADIE: Not like the one we threw for Stonie, hey?
They both start giggling like kids!
SHANE: That was great!
TOADIE: There's no reason why we can't recreate that, eh?
SHANE: Yeah, as long as I don't end up in the drunk tank again. I don't think Dipi'd bail me out this tme!
TOADIE: No - no, she wouldn't, no.
Shane's smile fades...

Finn is showing Claudia some of the figures for the Sonya Foundation. She remarks that it's now clear why he wanted so much money from her.
CLAUDIA: So, you've burnt through everything I've given you, and now you want more to help Elly?
FINN: Well, I thought you were okay with that?
CLAUDIA:... I am. I'm just trying to get a handle on the situation.
FINN: So, you're just here to suss out how I'm spending your money?
CLAUDIA: No! I'm happy to support a project that funds Shaun's Buddy Club.
FINN: What about Elly?
CLAUDIA: She's pregnant with my grandchild. I just went everything to be easy, for everyone. That's why I'm here.
Finn looks only partially reassured.
No 22
Hendrix and Roxy are playing a video game on the sofa.
ROXY: There - suffer in your jocks! Are you trying to lose? Because I have won the past three games.
HENDRIX: Well, I don't see much point to it.
ROXY: Winning? Who even are you?!
HENDRIX: I've already lost out on Chloe, so, what's the point?
ROXY: I get you're bummed. She's cool. But Chloe's not into you - end of.
HENDRIX: Don't hold back - it's not like I'm dying over here, Roxy (!)
ROXY: You're seventeen and loaded. I think you'll be okay (...) You'll get over it, and then you can hang out together at boring family parties.
Hendrix gets a text from Karl, saying that Pierce is missing him at the buck's party. Hendrix is sceptical that it's really true.
ROXY: Don't you think that if your dad didn't want you there, then kissing his fiancée might have been the final straw?
HENDRIX: ...
ROXY: He clearly wants everything to be okay. And so do you, right? So go - start building that bridge, baby.
No 28
It's getting late, and Claudia prepares to leave - but suggests to Finn that they could catch up again tomorrow. Finn says he'll check what he has on, pointing out that her arrival has been unexpected.
CLAUDIA: You know, when Shaun disappeared, I didn't want to believe he was dead. When the search was called off, I went to the mountain (...) I don't know what I thought I'd find. There was no way he was still alive. I stayed there long enough to accept that he'd gone. And to accept that it wasn't the first time I'd lost a son.
FINN: ... Shaun dying might've changed things for you. But I'm sorry, Mum - it hasn't changed things for me. You've rejected me my whole life.
CLAUDIA: ... There's no excuse for the way I treated you.
FINN: Would you even be here, if Elly wasn't having Shaun's baby?
CLAUDIA: Yes, I would! And I am going to stay here as long as it takes to prove to you and Elly that I am someone you can trust.
Finn still looks unsure.
The 82
The buck's party has evolved into a game of beer pong, and Pierce seems much more relaxed and happy now. Everyone's getting a bit merry, and Karl encourages Pierce to make a speech before things get too wild! As he begins to speak, Hendrix approaches from down Power Road, unseen by the revellers. Pierce thanks Gary and Karl for organising the buck's.
PIERCE: I know I'm new to the neighbourhood, but it means a lot that I've got friends to rally round like this.
Hendrix is now listening from nearby.
PIERCE: This little gathering is not about tonight - it's about tomorrow, when I get to marry the most gorgeous, beautiful, wildest...
All the other men cheer.
PIERCE: Look, I know I'm fortunate. And to be here tonight with you guys - I couldn't be happier.
TOADIE: Here's to Pierce - the luckiest man in Erinsborough!
Upset to hear Pierce having such a good time without him, and talking about Chloe like that, Hendrix walks away, still unseen, as the blokes all raise a toast to Pierce.
The Waterhole
Meanwhile, at the hen's, the women are still making floral crowns under the command of Dipi and Sheila, much to Chloe's chagrin.
CHLOE (to Bea): Wake me when it's time to go home!
But things suddenly take a livelier turn, when a man and a woman in (somewhat scant) police gear turn up. One of them is Hugh Hammer (we've met him before - he's one of Aaron's exotic dancing colleagues from Episode 7615); his colleague is Diamond La Rue.
DIAMOND LA RUE: Excuse me? Are you Chloe Brennan? (...)
HUGH HAMMER: We've got some shocking news for you.
CHLOE: Am I about to be arrested? For being a naughty girl?
DIAMOND LA RUE: (...) I'm afraid you've been reported for handling *hot goods*.
Everyone laughs as the two 'police officers' begin to perform a striptease. Sheila is initially horrified, but Dipi tells her, 'come on, Sheils, you love it!' Sheila admits that she does! Chloe quickly gathers that Elly was the one responsible for hiring the strippers.
CHLOE (to Elly): I know this is because of you. Thank you forever!
BEA: Are you sure that two strippers isn't overkill?
ELLY: Well, Chloe does like men and women.
Everyone dances along to the music, having a great time.
Power Road
The following morning, Claudia is on the phone to somebody as she walks along.
CLAUDIA: I've decided to go and meet him... Well, I wouldn't have to if it wasn't for you. Look, I'll be in touch if there's anything else I need.
She ends the call as she approaches Grease Monkeys. Waiting for her outside is none other than Dean!
CLAUDIA: You wanted to see me?
DEAN: You bet I do. Let's chat, lady.
No 24
It's the morning of the wedding, and Chloe greets Pierce, asking how his 'last night of separate beds' was. He reminds her that it's so far been their 'only night of separate beds'!
PIERCE: I'm still not sure why we stuck to tradition when I get to see you before the wedding.
CHLOE: Because we are rebels creating our own!
Pierce admits Hendrix didn't show up to the buck's. Chloe suggests he should take the boutonnières over to No 28 to give him a chance to talk to Hendrix before the wedding. Pierce agrees, and heads out. Elly then turns up to see how Chloe's doing after the big night, offering to whip her up a 'coffee Berocca breakfast speciality'.
ELLY: It was my favourite back in the glory days.
But Chloe says she's not really hung over.
ELLY: Why aren't you more excited? You're getting married!
CHLOE: Hendrix didn't show up at Pierce's buck's, and he's really upset.
ELLY: Oh, he's such a brat. He'll get over it.
CHLOE: What if he doesn't? This isn't exactly how I wanted to start married life (...) Hendrix kissed me. That's what's going on with him.
ELLY: He what?! Why would he do that?!
CHLOE: Because he has a massive crush on me and Pierce is furious. That's why he's crashing with you. And they're not speaking. Basically, today is going to be a massive disaster.
No 28
Karl opens the door to Pierce and his boutonnières. Pierce asks if Hendrix is home; Karl hasn't seen him yet, and shouts into the hallway, but there's no response. Pierce tries to call Hendrix but it goes to voicemail; he's worried Hendrix is deliberately avoiding him.
PIERCE: I can't smooth things over if he won't speak to me.
KARL: Is there anything I can do?
PIERCE: Just pin him down when he gets home. He doesn't have to be my best man, if it's going to make things easier at the wedding.
KARL: Why would it make things easier?
PIERCE: Just... it's fine, okay? Let me know when he gets home.
Karl shows Pierce out. It's only after Pierce has gone, that Karl finds a note on the kitchen surface, from Hendrix. It says, 'thanks for letting me crash, but I'm done with Erinsborough. Going back to Sydney.'
KARL: Oh, no.
