No 24
We're still on the sofa with Hendrix and Chloe, following the kiss.
CHLOE: Hendrix, what the hell?!
HENDRIX: ... Isn't that what you wanted?
CHLOE: On what planet do you think you kissing me is what I want?!
HENDRIX: I dunno, I thought that -
CHLOE: What, that we were getting along, and you could take things up a notch?!
HENDRIX: No...
CHLOE: (...) Is this another Ebony stunt? You thought you'd try it on in person instead of sending messages this time?
HENDRIX: No, that is -
CHLOE: This is exactly how you were when you first got here. Having a crack to try and get between your dad and I. You've been playing me!
HENDRIX: That's not what I've been doing.
CHLOE: Oh, please. I shut it down then, and I'm shutting it down now.
Pierce has appeared, having come in from his swim in the pool.
PIERCE: What's going on?
Hendrix makes out that Chloe's just sore because he beat her at the racing game, and leaves the house. Chloe looks bewildered.
Lassiter's Complex
Yashvi and Harlow are walking towards the courtyard; Harlow confirms she hasn't heard from her mum Prue since she landed in London, and is assuming she's ensconced with the Restoration Order. But Harlow's trying not to get caught up in Prue's problems, what with everything that's going on with David.
Harlow asks Yashvi how her new job's going; she says it's been very quiet so far, and that working with Ned has been 'up and down', albeit 'up at the moment'. Yashvi asks how Ned has been at home; Harlow says 'up and down' too, and asks why.
YASHVI: No reason.
HARLOW: There is *always* a reason when someone says 'no reason'.
Yashvi says she'll tell Harlow, but she needs to keep it a secret and not tell Terese. Harlow promises.
Meanwhile, Ned is unloading a guest's car at the hotel when Judd Fincher, his recent fight club opponent, appears on the scene, and threateningly thrusts a piece of the luggage into Ned's chest.
NED: What do you want?
JUDD: You didn't text Kane back.
NED: I told him I'm out; you can tell him the same thing.
He's about to walk away, but Judd blocks him.
JUDD: No-one leaves, Ned.
NED: What are you gonna do if I don't show up?
JUDD: Oh, you're fine. But not sure I can say the same for your mates.
Judd points over across the courtyard, to where Yashvi and Harlow are talking. Ned looks worried.

Elly, Finn and Bea are preparing lunch, and tension is still high between Bea and Finn. Elly asks if they want to eat indoors or out.
FINN: Whatever Bea wants. She'll probably do it anyway.
Susan is silently observing all this from the couch, and raises an eyebrow. While Finn takes stuff outside, Elly tells Bea to go easier on Finn. She replies that he's the one in the mood.
ELLY: He's angry because he cares about you.
BEA: Oh, so you're on his side now? Okay, I get it.
ELLY: No, I'm not taking any sides, okay? He's worried because you keep putting yourself in dangerous situations.
They're whispering, so Susan is struggling to earwig despite her best efforts. Once Bea's left the room...
SUSAN: Did I miss something when I was out today?
ELLY: Oh, no. It was just a little tiff. It'll blow over.
Lassiter's Complex
Hendrix is at a table outside The Waterhole, ripping up a beermat. Roxy emerges and asks how his afternoon with Chloe went.
HENDRIX: I kissed her.
ROXY: Wow! You weren't gonna die wondering, were you? And?
HENDRIX: ...
ROXY: What happened to, 'she's into me, I can feel it'?
She asks if Pierce knows; Hendrix confirms not. Roxy says Pierce has turned out to be not as bad as she thought, explaining they bonded at the staff meeting. Hendrix reminds her that he was the one who got Roxy to set the meeting up.
ROXY: He doesn't know that. Look, I think you should lay off him and Chloe, and leave them in their little love-bubble.
HENDRIX: Thanks for nothing, wingman.
He gets up and starts walking away.
ROXY: I said from the start that Chloe being into you was a million to one.
HENDRIX: It didn't stop you helping me try.
ROXY: It doesn't matter! Chloe gave you a hard 'no'; don't be a jerk about it.
HENDRIX: Yeah, I'm not an idiot, okay? No means no. I get it.
ROXY: Look, I've been where you are, trust me. Pushing yourself onto someone who doesn't like you just ends in a world of pain. Alright?
Hendrix looks crestfallen.

Susan has come round for a cuppa with Terese, who explains she's found an AA programme to attend which she thinks will help. Susan asks if she's thought more about finding a job.
TERESE: Lassiter's was such a central part of my life. Whenever I try and think beyond it, I just... my brain stops functioning.
Susan suggests there could be something for Terese at Sonya's foundation, which is out of financial trouble now Toadie has his payout from the class action settlement. Susan thinks Terese would be more than qualified to handle the Foundation finances, adding that Toadie's been struggling with the books.
SUSAN: Wouldn't hurt to ask. And it would be a really nice way to honour your former sponsor.
Meanwhile in the kitchen, Ned, Harlow and Roxy are chatting about dinner options. Roxy opens a bottle of wine, but Harlow tells her not to be so insensitive as to drink it in front of Terese. Roxy grudgingly pours it down the sink. Ned says not to worry about him for dinner; he's on a double shift at work, so is heading out again soon.
ROXY: Sweet! More chips for me.

Pierce asks Chloe what the problem was with Hendrix earlier.
CHLOE: I actually don't know how to say this...
PIERCE: Chloe, you're worrying me.
CHLOE: I thought I had a handle on the situation, but obviously I read it wrong -
At this point, Hendrix himself comes in, heading straight for his room. Chloe asks him to come back.
CHLOE: I was just about to tell your dad what happened. But now he can hear it from you.
Hendrix continues to claim it was a row over the computer game, but...
CHLOE: I'm not playing, Hendrix. If wrecking my relationship with your father is that important, tell him what you did.
HENDRIX: ...
CHLOE: (...) Tell him now, or I will.
PIERCE: Clearly something happened. Somebody better tell me.
CHLOE: I'm giving you a chance to be honest.
HENDRIX: Alright. You're making this into a big deal, but... I slipped, and it looked like me and Chloe kissed.
PIERCE: You what?!
CHLOE: No, you didn't slip - you kissed me and it was on purpose.
PIERCE: Why? ... Don't just shrug it off! Why did you do it?! Hendrix, you are part of this family now. You need to start acting like it and talk.
HENDRIX: I told you. What else do you want me to say?
PIERCE: Tell me why you did it!
CHLOE: It's to get your attention, the same way he did with Ebony.
HENDRIX: No!
CHLOE: It's the only thing he thinks will work... He tried it on when he first got here.
PIERCE: ... Why didn't you tell me before?
CHLOE: Because I knew how important it was for you to have a relationship with your son. I didn't want to wreck that. And I thought I'd shut it down.
PIERCE: Yeah, well, apparently not.
CHLOE: He's just spoiled and desperate for attention.
HENDRIX: Oh, crap! You deserve way better than him! You know, I don't want attention. I want...
Hendrix can't bring himself to enunciate his Feelings™ for Chloe, but she realises what he means and looks shocked.
PIERCE: Just go for a walk.
HENDRIX: Whatever. I'm not staying here - I'm out.
He walks out of the house.

Toadie's Not In This Episode™, so Susan has brought Terese home with her to chat to Finn about the prospect of Terese working for the Sonya Foundation. Finn is noticeably unkeen on this idea, saying Toadie does most of the work himself and that they couldn't afford to take Terese on; but she says she's not after a huge salary and just wants to help.
Finn reluctantly says he'll chat to Toadie about it, and Susan offers to walk with Terese back to her place. Elly, who has been present during the conversation, asks Finn why he 'fobbed off' Terese.
FINN: Terese would be a great fit for the foundation, but I was just kind of hoping if there was a job going, it would go to you.
ELLY: But Toadie's already ruled me out.
FINN: That was for the Buddy Club - this is different.
ELLY: Well, not really. And Terese is far better suited to the role.
FINN: Yeah, but you need it more. And if I can help -
ELLY: Yeah, I get it, and that's a really lovely idea. But I'm about to give birth any second. And you've given me more than enough (...) I can't rely on you or anyone else forever.
No 30
Harlow comes round to see Yashvi, who offers her a hot chocolate, but...
HARLOW: I won't stay. Terese shouldn't know that I'm here.
YASHVI: Ooh, you sound like a British spy when you talk like that.
Harlow has come to ask if Ned is working double-shifts, admitting he sounded a bit cagey earlier when he said he wouldn't be home for dinner. Yashvi confirms he has been working double-shifts, but isn't rostered on tonight. She looks worried.
No 28
Finn is on the phone to his mum, Claudia.
FINN: It's not that, Mum... it's for Elly. Yeah, look - she's got some savings, but it's not gonna last.
There's a knock on the door, and Bea appears to answer it as Finn goes into another room. It's Yashvi, who tells Bea that she's worried Ned might've gone to the fight club again tonight, given he lied about being at work.
BEA: He's an idiot.
YASHVI: We have to find him.
But Bea reluctantly says no; she can't get involved with running after Ned again, as it's not fair on Finn. Yashvi understands, and says she'll figure it out herself.
BEA: Hang on - you're not going there?
YASHVI: Well, hopefully, I won't have to.
BEA: Hopefully?! No, I mean it, Vee - these people don't muck around.
Bea says she shouldn't have gone herself; she hadn't realised how dangerous it was. She begs Yashvi not to make the same mistake; Yashvi agrees not to go to the fight club.
Lassiter's Lake
Ned is on his way to fight club (via the Wishing Tree™, of course) when he runs into Yashvi.
YASHVI: I'm not letting you do this, Ned. Want to hit someone? Hit me. Come on. Hit me.
NED: Don't be an idiot.
YASHVI: Yeah, cos *I'm* the idiot (!)
NED: It's my last fight, okay?
YASHVI: Really? One more, then you'll stop? (!) Can you actually hear yourself?
NED: I can't just walk away.
YASHVI: Yes, you can. You don't have to do it anymore.
NED: If I don't fight, they're coming after you, and Harlow, and Bea. I won't let that happen.
YASHVI: Okay, let's call the cops, then.
NED: No, this is my mess, my responsibility.
YASHVI: Then we'll find another way to fix it, I promise. Just come home with me. Please.

Hendrix has come round to see Roxy, having told her what's been said with Pierce and Chloe. He needs somewhere to stay, as Pierce has taken all his credit cards. Roxy suggests he could crash on the couch. But at this point Harlow emerges.
HARLOW: Er, no way. No *way* is he staying here.
HENDRIX: I'm not asking you; I'm asking my friend.
HARLOW: There's already way too much going on here - we don't need Playboy Junior and his smart mouth here, too.
ROXY: It won't be for too long.
HARLOW: How long? I mean, have you even asked Terese? There's no way she'd allow it.
ROXY: ... She is kind of right (...) Sorry, Hendrix.
HENDRIX: Where am I supposed to go?
HARLOW: Don't know - don't care!
Harlow opens the door for him, and a troubled-looking Hendrix walks out.
No 28
Elly chats to Finn about his tension with Bea; Finn thinks Bea is the one who's been snapping, but Elly tells Finn he's been passive-aggressive with Bea, and can't stay mad with her forever. At this point, Bea emerges, and announces she's going to bed. She makes a point of telling Finn that Yashvi asked if she could help her find Ned again, but she said she didn't want to get involved anymore.
FINN: Bea - thank you.
BEA: ... Goodnight.
Susan appears from outside with plates, and starts loading the dishwasher. Elly's aching all over, so Finn tries out a massage technique on her, which seems to work wonders. Susan looks quietly judgemental. There's a knock at the door - it's Hendrix.
SUSAN: Come in! What can I do for you?
HENDRIX: ...
No 22
Ned has come home with Yashvi, and is filling in Terese, Harlow and Roxy on what's been going on with the fight club.
ROXY: A fight ring? Wow, I hope you're putting that on your Tinder profile!
HARLOW: Really?!
ROXY: What? Girls will love it! Everyone's seen that movie!
HARLOW: Yeah. And look how that turned out!
Terese now clicks as to why Ned's been so bruised lately. Ned's worried Terese will want him to leave the house, but she says she's hardly in a position to judge.
NED: Thank you for understanding.
TERESE: Are you okay?
NED: Not really, but I'm working on it.
TERESE: Good. Well, then, this is where it ends. No more fighting; no more secrecy. I'm going to bed.
Once she's gone, Harlow suggests they should call the police to tell them about the threats that have been made by the fight club folk. Ned says that would only make things worse.
NED: I'll figure something out.
YASHVI: What?
NED: I dunno yet.
ROXY: So, your plan is to make a plan? (!)
Ned says he just needs to think about it.

Chloe turns up, and chats to Susan outside, thanking her for letting Hendrix stay. Susan asks if things have sorted themselves out; Chloe says it's all a bit tense. Susan shows her inside, and then gives them some space to talk.
CHLOE: Good morning.
HENDRIX: Is it?
CHLOE: Okay - no small talk!
HENDRIX: ...
CHLOE: Yesterday - what you said about me in your vows. There was more to it, wasn't there?
HENDRIX: More than your pitiful hand-eye coordination?
CHLOE: Hendrix... I'm sorry I didn't notice it sooner. I'm sorry I... accused you of doing what you did out of spite. But I love your father, more than anything in the world, and I've chosen to spend the rest of my life with him.
HENDRIX: There was something there between us... at the rehearsal, the way you looked at me, I...
CHLOE: I was... surprised. I didn't know you could be so mature. Or honest.
HENDRIX: It was more than that.
CHLOE: It wasn't. You misread it. I like you, Hendrix - you're fun. A bit arrogant, but we can work on that. But I don't like you like *that*. And you need to accept it, because we're going to be a family.
237 Torrance Road
Yashvi has come to the illegal fighting ring, and she's filming one of the fights that's taking place on her phone. She's spotted by Judd, who accosts her, smashing her phone to the floor.
JUDD: What do you think you're doing?
YASHVI: Stay away from Ned Willis.
JUDD: I know you.
YASHVI: I mean, he said he's out, so he's out!
JUDD: Ned sent you down here, didn't he? Gutless!
YASHVI: He doesn't know I'm here. And you can't threaten me or my friends, cos... we're not scared of you.
JUDD: We could fix that.
He starts backing her towards the wall, in an intimidating way. But at that point, police officers appear and raid the club. Yashvi looks grimly satisfied.
Lassiter's Complex
Chloe is reporting back to Pierce; Susan has said Hendrix can stay at hers for as long as he needs.
PIERCE: I should never have let him leave.
CHLOE: He's safe, and the space might be good for both of you.
PIERCE: You should've told me when he did this the first time.
CHLOE: You know why I didn't. But yeah, I should've - I'm sorry. This time was different, though.
PIERCE: He's just trying to get to me.
CHLOE: I don't think it's about you. I know that look on his face - I have been through it. This isn't about him being a brat; he's heartbroken. I really feel for him.
PIERCE: Well, he needs to get over it.
CHLOE: He's seventeen. With a seventeen-year-old crush. We can't expect him to manage his emotions like a rational adult.
PIERCE: Then I guess that's our job - to stay rational.
No 28
Bea and Susan are folding up Hendrix's bedding from the sofa. Susan says he might be with them for a little while.
BEA: Well, he can fold his own bedding after night three.
SUSAN: Fair enough, too! Hey, how are you and Finn doing?
BEA: Yeah, we're fine.
SUSAN: Just that I noticed a bit of tension between you two as well.
BEA: Mm. It's no biggie; he's just been a bit up and down since Shaun. But we're working through it.
Bea heads out; but as Susan is shifting things, Finn's bag falls over, and some of his possessions fall out - including the photo album of him and Elly that he secretly kept from Elly's clearout. Susan looks concerned as she flicks through the photos, and raises her eyebrows judgily...
