Queensland resort
In an outside bar, Terese sits with Christina and Caroline demanding to know "why would Elle go to such extreme lengths to ruin things for us?" but rather than get an answer, the two sisters start arguing with each other (over not communicating with each other). Eventually Terese has to yell to stop the squabbling to get an demand an answer over why did Christina partake in Elle's plan "when you don't even know me?!"
Meanwhile, in their room, Paul is talking to Elle via skype. "You really hate me that much?" he asks, and Elle replies that its not about hating him, she's actually did it "because I love you."
PAUL: Oh, Elle! How can you possibly justify that?
ELLE: When you told me that you were marrying Terese, it didn't exactly fill me with confidence.
PAUL: Whether or not I marry Terese is not your business! It doesn't require your confidence.
ELLE: Oh, come on, Dad. I know all about your history with her. It's not exactly a classic love story.
PAUL: Still doesn't give you the right to send along a string of assassins.
ELLE: It was a test.
PAUL: So, what, you just... you cook up this scheme and you coerce all of them to get on board, is that it?
ELLE: It was unorthodox, I know, but I never told any of them to break you up. Come on, Dad, you can't tell me this isn't something you wouldn't do. Leo told me how you meddled with Amy and Gary.
When she mentions Leo, Paul looks hurt and asks if he knows too. Elle admits that she asked him for his help "with a little reminder of Terry."
ELLE: Guess I just caught him at a vulnerable moment. Did you learn anything from seeing your exes?
PAUL: Of course I learned something, darling. They were a reminder of my constant failings, and there is no way that I am ever, ever going to make those same mistakes with Terese.
The Waterhole"
"She really is a chip off the old block, isn't she?" is how Aaron describes Elle after hearing that she was the one behind the scheming. Leo admits that he only helped Elle because she paid him - hence why he could return the money to David and Aaron. David is furious at his brothers reasoning and "doing something this low makes me wonder who you are now."
Sydney airport
Freshened up, Scarlett returns to the bar where Ned is sitting, and they introduce themselves to each other properly. Ned can't resist asking (given she is wearing a wedding dress) if she was "going to the wedding or from?" "From" is her reply and tells him about Rex, her now ex, decided as the 'I do's' were about to be said that their wedding was a mistake! She's maxed out her credit card for the one-flight a day to Dubbo (to get back to her parents) hence why she is sitting in the airport still in her wedding dress! Given he is still stuck at the airport too because of his delayed flight, Ned agrees to shout her some drinks.
Harold's café
When he spots her in the café, Gary asks Rebecca for a chance to explain.
REBECCA: Oh, about what? About you two-timing me and Gail?
Gary immediately concedes that it looks bad then explains that he met them both at the same time, and couldn't decide who I liked better, "so I thought maybe if I played the ?eld..."
REBECCA: That sounds really sleazy.
Gary replies that he isn't "a sleaze!" when suddenly they hear a voice saying, "not usually" and discover that it was Karl who said it (he's sitting at a table beside where they are talking and so can hear their whole conversation). Rebecca decides to make it easy for Gary to choose between her and Gail, since he's having difficulties choosing - "we're done."
Queensland resort
As they walk along the beach, Paul tells Terese why Elle did what she did - "it was her way of trying to protect me from making yet another mistake." "Well, I guess she succeeded, then, didn't she?" Terese replies, adding that she's contacted Ned and told him not to come because she is going home. Paul thinks though that now the truth is out, they can go ahead with the wedding, but she knocks him back because he gave up on her... on them. Paul is very apologetic and concedes that the exes "got in my head and I doubted myself."
PAUL: I doubted everything! But I won't any more. Terese, please stay and let's... let's go ahead with what we planned to do, hey?
With a bit of a struggle, Paul lowers himself onto one knee and taking Terese's hand.
PAUL: Terese Willis... will you marry me?
It looks like Terese is going to say no as she turns from him and walks away. A few moments later, a very determined woman turns around and begins to talk!
TERESE: You listen to me, Paul Robinson. Do you really think it's okay to expect me to say yes after everything you have put me through?! I swear, if you do anything like that again, you'll regret it.
Those last couple of sentences were said with a very menacing voice!
TERESE: But I love you... and, yes, I really do want to marry you.
Paul looks very much like a condemned man that has gotten a reprieve at the 11th hour! Grasping this news, Paul suggests that they "get married right now." Terese reminds him that everything's been cancelled but he is sure another celebrant can be found... and she admits to needing to "buy another dress" but doesn't explain why as it's "a long story."
Paul suddenly remembers he has something to do first and rushes quickly off but refuses to say why he's skedaddling to, just that he will call her!
The Waterhole
With David still angry, its Aaron that comes by to see how Leo is. Aaron confirms that David is still mad at his brother but is sure he will come around, but Leo is unsure if he will.
LEO: After all this time, I thought I was over being jealous of Paul and Terese, and an opportunity came to hurt them, I didn't think twice about it.
Aaron is sure David will understand, but Leo thinks otherwise as his brother "never does stupid stuff like this."
AARON: Come on, man. You two will be ?ne, all right? You just need to give it a little bit of time.
LEO: No, I've lost too much. My business, my family's respect, especially David's. I couldn't hate myself any more if I tried.
Queensland resort
And we now see why Paul rushed off - to retrieve the wedding rings he threw into the fountain, which he eventually finds.
Sydney airport
Ned comes off the phone hearing the happy news from Terese and apologises for being insincere to Scarlett. He confirms he won't make the wedding so goes to make new flight arrangements to get back to Erinsborough. "Calls for another round to celebrate," Scarlett declares, and Ned is happy surprised to see the change in demeanour in her.
Queensland resort
Paul is nervously waiting all dressed up in his tuxedo when Terese arrives in a beautiful wedding dress, commenting that its "pretty good for last minute!"
PAUL: Wow, you're stunning.
Paul confirms to her that he has the rings and that Caroline offered to find them a celebrant... not sure where she found one but the celebrant that turns up is dressed as Elvis!
TERESE: Who's this?
PAUL: Uh, our celebrant, I believe?
CAROLINE: Late notice.
TERESE: Wait, you're telling me we're getting married by Elvis?
ELVIS: Now, let's have a little less conversation, and I'll get you two hunka hunka buming loves hitched!
The bride and groom are just about ready to dissolve into fits of laugher at this point (and we've just began!) as Terese (jokingly) says to Paul "this is ridiculous." He can't but agree with her however does add, "at least it's going to be memorable!"
Caroline has even arranged the witnesses - Christina and herself! It looks like Christina is staging a silent protest though - she is wearing a totally black dress!
CHRISTINA: I'm here under duress.
CAROLINE: After Christina's appalling behaviour, I thought the least she could do is come and offer you both her wishes.
Paul isn't sure he wants his ex-wife and ex-sister in law as his witnesses but Terese overrules him, as she doesn't want two complete strangers.
ELVIS: So, does that mean we're ready, Teddy?
PAUL: Let's rock and roll.
The strains of George Ezra's 'The beautiful dream' begin in the background as the happy couple start saying their vows.
TERESE: It's been a long journey to be here today, but I am so glad we ?nally made it. You spark my intellect, my joy, and my desire. And I can't wait to be your wife.
PAUL: I know I haven't always been perfect.
CHRISTINA: You can say that again.
PAUL: But you accept me for my flaws and my strengths, and I think you're clever, you're certainly beautiful, you're kind and forgiving, and I can't wait to be your husband and share that road ahead.
ELVIS: Paul, do you take Terese to be your lawful wedded wife? If you don't, you ain't nothin' but a hound dog!
(everyone laughs!)
ELVIS: But if so, please say, "Uh-huh-huh."
(they both laugh)
PAUL: Uh-huh-huh!
(both are in fits of laughter)
ELVIS: Terese, do you take Paul to be your lawful wedded husband? If so, please say, "Uh-huh-huh."
TERESE: Uh-huh-huh.
(more laughter)
ELVIS: So, by the power vested in me from Colonel Tom Parker, Graceland, and the sunny state of Queensland, I proudly pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss each other quick.
Before he does that, Paul puts on his own fake Elvis accent to thank the celebrant and both he and the sisters clap (a very reluctant clap from Chrissie!) when the happy couple share their first kiss as man and wife.
Sydney airport
Scarlett explains to Ned why she still has her wedding dress on (she wants to get her money's worth from it having paid $1200!) and he laughs at the explanation saying, "good for you."
Ned through is frustrated at still being stuck in Sydney waiting for news of his new flight... and looks like he might be there a lot longer as when he's getting another round of drinks in a text arrives with the offer of a flight which he's to reply Y to confirm. However, Scarlett goes into his phone (she saw him earlier put his passcode into the phone) and deletes the text!
Queensland resort
While handing the wedding party a glass of bubbles, Elvis tells the happy couple "I've always said that fools rush in, but I got a feeling you two won't go your separate ways."
PAUL: Oh, not if I can help it.
ELVIS: And as long as you ain't no devil in disguise.
TERESE: Do you ever break out of character?
ELVIS: Character, little lady? You're in the presence of the King himself.
The Elvis puns haven't finished yet as to much hilarity, he finishes off saying to the happy couple:
ELVIS: I'm guessing you won't be lonesome tonight.
PAUL: Ah, you're good.
(Later)
Just as the last scene was finishing, Christina asked for the key to their room as she left her hat there and when she is in the room getting it, Caroline arrives at the back of her (surprising her) saying that "it was a beautiful wedding, wasn't it?" Caroline then starts to talk more about the ceremony when Christina interrupts.
CHRISTINA: I blamed you. All these years, I've watched you go from strength to strength, and at some point, I decided you were to blame for the things that have gone wrong for me. Your affair with Paul.
CAROLINE: That was 30 years ago!
CHRISTINA: But I've told myself that what if it hadn't happened? Maybe Paul and I would not have derailed. Maybe the fairy tale wouldn't have shattered.
CAROLINE: Wow, you've been holding on to this for a long time. Look, is there any way we can move past this? I've missed you.
CHRISTINA: (nodding) I've missed you, too.
Harold's café
"I guess they're just meant to be," Elle is forced to admit to her mum (in a video message) after hearing that the wedding took place. Gary interrupts her watching the video to declare that he's had a think and "I've decided that I want to keep seeing you, and only you," well as long as she agrees that is!
GAIL: (laughing) That is the best thing I've heard all day.
Just as Gary sits down to chat with her, Rebecca rushes in to ask Gail if she's seen this (a wedding photo of the happy couple with Elvis). "Yes," Gail replies adding in that "it's gone a bit pear-shaped, hasn't it?"
Gary thinks that the ladies want space to chat, so goes to leave but Rebecca tells him to stay put.
REBECCA: Oh, don't bother. After I found out he was seeing us both, I put a stop to things, so I'm heading back to Sydney tonight. So, good luck! And I hope we never have to cross paths again.
Of course, what Rebecca has just said, contradicts what Gary said to her earlier! Rightly, Gail brings it up and he is forced to admit that Rebecca got there before he could "pull the pin." "Why couldn't you tell me that?" she asks, and Gary concedes that he is "really bad at this."
GAIL: Incredibly bad. But you're not the only person who's ever behaved badly. So, if...if you're willing to wipe the slate clean, then so am I.
Sydney airport
Scarlett is asking Ned about what Erinsborough can offer.
NED: Uh, there's a hotel, a couple of pubs, a school.
SCARLETT: So, it's just like everywhere else?
NED: Pretty much, but you know what? It's home, and there's great people there.
Ned then gets frustrated at seeing folk head to their gate while he is stuck in the bar as he's had no confirmation of this flight to Melbourne. "I reckon they've forgotten about you," Scarlett says, and Ned decides to head off to go speak to someone at a desk to "see if that gets me anywhere.".
Queensland resort
"Here's to you, Mrs Robinson," Paul says as he and Terese share another glass of bubbles with their witnesses.
TERESE: (to Paul) Bet that's not the first time you've said that.
PAUL: Hmm, not with so much love, no.
The sisters decide its probably time to leave the "newlyweds to it." Terese hopes they have a safe trip home, however the sisters plan on hanging around for a bit to spend some time together first.
CHRISTINA: I am sorry for my role in everything.
PAUL: Thanks, Christina, I appreciate it.
The sisters head off and the newlyweds are enjoying the silence...
PAUL: No more ex-wives muttering about devious plots against me. No, just total serenity, I love it.
Terese reminds him that Gail is still at home, but he's refusing to go there because they "still have a honeymoon to enjoy!"
TERESE: Well, I don't know about you, but I'd say that starts now.
"Hmm," Paul says in reply before the pair start pashing.
Sydney airport
Ned is back frustrated that the airline sent him a text but there is of course nothing on his phone. Scarlett calls them "liars" and that they are simply "trying to cover their own backsides." He has a flight booked though, but not until tomorrow but before he heads off, Scarlett asks for a selfie, "something to remember my airport buddy by."
Number 32
In the backyard, the Robinson kids, Kyle and Chloe are having a celebratory meal in their honour of Paul and Terese's nuptials, including a toast to them.
ALL: Paul and Terese!
KYLE: All right, let's eat this pile of meat in their honour.
Leo tries to pull his brother aside for a chat and somewhat reluctantly (because he is hungry), they move away from the table.
"I just want a chance to explain everything," Leo says to his brother, but David thinks the time isn't right.
DAVID: No, seriously, just give me some time. I'm trying to have a goodnight, okay?
David then walks away from his brother, back to the table where the others are sitting. Leo doesn't return and instead stands drinking, leaning on the fence surrounding the pool, watching the others have fun.
(Later)
The others have retreated inside but Leo is still outside (sitting at the table) drinking beer and doing a lot of thinking it would appear.
(Later)
We then see Leo place a letter on the breakfast bar addressed to his brother. In a voiceover, we hear what is inside that letter as Leo takes one last look around (including a photo of the David and Aaron) before taking his suitcase, walking to the front door and exiting the house.
LEO: David, I'm sorry to leave you this way. It's been incredible to see you excel, find love, and make a home in Erinsborough. But the cesspool of drama has finally gotten the better of me. I need to spread my wings and find my own identity, separate from our new-found family and friends. I'm not sure where I'm going or where I'll land, but I know I have to do this to become a person who will make you proud. Love you forever and always, bro. Leo.
