Hospital
Roxy explains what she saw to Mark - she heard noises as she was walking home past the lake.
ROXY: That's when I saw Gary attacking Paul.
Paul forgives her for not helping (she was too far away) but is glad she's come forward now. Mark asks if she knows what the weapon was (no) and then why she didn't speak up last night and the lass replies that she was scared. "You need to be sure about this," Terese tells her niece given what's happened the past few days, however she doesn't get a chance to answer because Paul starts badgering Mark to do something! What Mark does though, is ask Roxy to come to the station to give a statement.
Number 28
Bea and Finn are making use of the time left before Elly returns to have a 'public' make out session in the livingroom. Moments later, they quickly spring apart when Elly (complete with a new shorter hair style) and Karl arrive home. Elly is now 19 weeks along and has sprung a baby bump... and a new healthy stress free lifestyle!
The pair quickly get Elly away from asking what's been going on while she was away and Bea hands over the considerable pile of mail to her sister... and the first letter Elly opens is from the family court regarding the annulment.
ELLY: I'm no longer Mrs Brennan.
She's taken the news well and plans to put that past her and instead concentrate on rebuilding her friendships with Amy and Leo instead.
The Waterhole, veranda
Chloe arrives full of enthusiasm to work with Pierce on the music festival... and telling him a few pitfalls to avoid after attending a number of festivals. The jovial atmosphere disappears in a flash when Chloe suggests they have a friendly drink and not long after Pierce disappears to work on the wine launch.
"You guys are talking at least," Aaron remarks after taking Pierce's recently vacated seat. Chloe is frustrated that he will only talk to her about work, so Aaron tells her to give it time. "I don't want to spend my life waiting, chasing," she laments to him, she wants to have "fun while I still can."
Ramsay Street
Kyle walks over to chat with Amy about Paul when he sees her pull up in the driveway. He admits that Sheila thinks Gary is responsible and she seems surprised that Kyle doesn't think that way, although he does acknowledge that it doesn't look good for his dad.
The stress about her dad (and an impending call to update Jimmy) is leaving Amy quite strained and she seems to appreciate Kyle's reassuring hand on her arm. However, she knocks back him wanting to enter #26 to see how Gary is, but before she heads indoors, he reaffirms his support for her.
KYLE: Amy, I've got your back. Always. Don't ever forget that.
The Waterhole
Despite only just entering the bar with her brother, Chloe wants to do a runner when she spots Elly and Bea entering the bar. However, she can't escape so is forced to make polite conversation with the sisters... at least Elly's new hairdo provides a safe topic to chat about before she can hastily depart bringing Aaron with her!
Lassiters Complex
Out in the safety of the complex, Aaron has a wee go at his sister about her haste to rush out of the bar after barely saying 'hi' to Elly. Chloe though is thinking more about her lost friendships with both Pierce and Elly.
CHLOE: It's one lost friendship after another with me.
Number 26
It's not exactly a happy household at #26 with a very worried Gary despite Kyle having his back and Amy promising to talk to her dad.
Mark arrives to inform them all of a development - a witness has come forward and so he wants Gary to come with him to the station. "You've got it all wrong!" Gary pleads but leaves with Mark because he's "nothing to hide."
Ramsay Street
David arrives home and updates his brother about Paul before adding in that Roxy's changed her story and claims that it was Gary that assaulted Paul. "Well, it's not that surprising," Leo remarks just as Amy has walked over to join her brothers and to suggest that the witness has made a mistake or has been paid off by Paul. "I'm sure the police are covering all angles," David diplomatically replies, which Amy is very sceptical of! She just about begs her brothers to inform her who the witness is.
Hospital (exterior)
Harlow literally pounces on Roxy as she is just about to head into the hospital and its not to have a go, but actually to show the lass some kindness over the traumatic event she witnessed. Who is giving her a hard time though is the newly arrived Amy!
AMY: It wasn't Gary.
ROXY: Yeah well you can think what you want.
Amy is determined to get confirmation that Paul is paying Roxy and warns her against playing a "silly little games" as Gary could go to prison. Harlow jumps in to protect Roxy but Amy isn't impressed and warns Roxy of the "serious consequences" that Gary is facing.
Once Amy leaves, Roxy plasters on her usual happy face and reassures Harlow that she is okay before adding that it "sucks that Amy thinks she can talk to me like that."
Harold's Café
Aaron catches his brother in the café to try and talk to him about Gary (David called to update him) but Mark doesn't engage in any conversation on that topic. He's not too keen either on chatting about Elly being back, especially since the annulment has gone through, but does add that he won't cross the street to avoid her. Aaron gets the okay to be friends with Elly and when he tries to suggest that Chloe might too, Mark can't see that happening although if it does, he will "learn to live with it."
Hospital
After getting a medical update on his condition from Karl, Paul can't quickly change the topic quickly enough to find out when Gary is getting sacked from the tram project! Karl isn't ready to do that just yet, and despite Paul going on and on, tells him politely to "concentrate more on your recovery and a little less on my business."
Sheila swaps places with Karl, despite Terese saying it's not a good time, but she wants to tell Paul that Kyle overheard them talking and was going to tell Amy.
SHEILA: Its call coming out.
PAUL: I'm not blaming you.
SHEILA: No, I'm blaming myself, it's all gone too far.
Sheila thinks Gary must have "snapped under the pressure" and Terese asks if she thinks "he is guilty?" "I'd like to think no," she replies but now isn't sure after hearing about the witness and Amy's insistence that he is innocent.
PAUL: Yes, I guess she's loyal to a fault.
SHEILA: Yes, and I haven't been, have I, not at all. And now he's going to end up in prison and it's all my fault.
Number 28/The Waterhole, veranda
Aaron is scheming to get Elly and Chloe talking to each other by presenting each of them individually a voucher for a home massage - he is using the pretence that it was for him and David but with the later busy sorting things out with Paul, he doesn't want to see the voucher go to waste. Naturally when the ladies find out who their partner is, neither wants to accept but Aaron wears them down with his persistence so that they agree to it.
Number 26
Amy finds Kyle out in the backyard and updates him with news of who the witness is, and that Gary could be charged. She is adamant Paul put Roxy up to it although acknowledges that its not the right time to confront him about it. Given the situation, Amy doesn't feel it's the right time to break up with Gary, and Kyle agrees with her "good call."
AMY: I'm still going to break up with him, but I can't kick him when he's down.
KYLE: Yes, absolutely.
While they've verbally agreed to the plan, neither seem happy at the "complicated" situation they've inadvertently found themselves caught up in.
Number 28
Elly and Chloe make polite conversation with each other ahead of their massage session, although after a 'farting' noise comes from Elly (which she swears is the table!) the pair disintegrate into laughter and the atmosphere in the room changes totally.
Hospital, exterior
Harlow is still looking out for Roxy by trying to get her to eat but is sent off when Terese appears wanting a word with her niece. Terese cuts straight to the point - she doesn't think Gary was responsible for assaulting Paul and in a roundabout way, goes to suggest that it was in fact Roxy that was responsible. The lass is quick to acknowledge that she's done some dodgy stuff but forcibly replies "I would never hurt anybody." To back her claim up, she adds that if she were guilty she'd do a runner rather than stay around especially as her bags are actually packed.
Terese accepts her niece's innocence and apologises for doubting her before asking why she is still here? "I didn't like seeing Paul like that, I want to see him get better," she replies and Terese is glad she didn't leave and asks if Roxy will consider giving her aunt "another chance." Roxy silently nods her head and accepts Terese's offer of a lift home.
Number 28
Over their massage, the ladies have more than re-bonded with each other, having great delight in winding each other up over their predicaments - Chloe getting caught dancing with Ebony's dress and Elly for the comments Liz made about when she was giving birth to her! Both acknowledge that they've actually missed hanging out with each other and agree to hang out with each other in the future.
CHLOE: Only because you laugh at my travel stories!
Lassiters Complex
Amy waits patiently for Gary to exit the police station and when he does, he informs her that the police haven't charged him although fears it will come as even the truth (he was out walking for an hour to clear his head) sounds dodgy to him.
GARY: I'm getting framed for something that I didn't do. That doesn't worry me Ames... it scares the life out of me.
Amy is certain Paul is behind it and promises to work on him until the truth comes out. "Paul's not about to buckle," Gary bluntly replies and is already fearful that he is facing a long stretch... "that's exactly what he wants."
Number 28
The masseurs have now left but Elly is still having issues with a knot in her shoulder, despite telling the masseuse to work on it several times! Chloe offers to have a look at it and as she does, given the relaxed state Elly is in, kisses her on the neck (she is standing behind Elly). Silently, Elly turns around and the pair begin to pash... or not! Turns out it's a dream Elly had when she fell asleep during the massage session! A back with the living Elly looks very confused over things as Chloe lies peacefully on the bench opposite, fully enjoy the massage session.
