Number 32
Terese and Paul barge in to yell at Roxy for her stunt at the meeting - thanks to her they've had to try talk the investors off the ledge the remainder of the evening. But Roxy figures if Terese is going to keep sticking her nose into her life, she'll do the same. Terese says she was concerned about her niece, that's why she rang Gemma, but Roxy doesn't agree. Paul then says he's going to drop the 'search' for Vance but Roxy scoffs and says she knew he wasn't really looking for her ex anyway. Amidst all the yelling, a bewildered David and Aaron arrive home from their Japan trip wondering when their house turned into Number 22.
The Waterhole
Pierce and Chloe share a drink after the disastrous meeting. Chloe wonders how things will be now after Roxy went in "all bazookas blazing", but Pierce thinks he'll be able to do some damage control and talk the investors around. Ebony joins them and Chloe asks how the house is going. Ebony says it'll be another few weeks until the decorators are done and convinces Pierce not to see the house until then. Chloe feels that something suspicious is afoot.
Number 32
Sheila flits around picking up Kyle's dirty laundry to wash while Roxy complains to Aaron about how her Aunty T sucks. Meanwhile, David quietly reminds Leo they only agreed to have Roxy stay for a few nights, but Leo says she's got nowhere else to go. Roxy realises she's been talking Aaron's ear off about her woes and asks about their trip, but starts to yawn when he begins to chat and decides to head to bed. Off David's look, Leo tells her she'll have to stay in the sunroom from now on.
Number 26
Gary attempts to 'joke' that Sheila and Amy shouldn't be doing so much stuff for Kyle and thinks he could head back to work soon. But Amy's annoyed that Gary's acting so blasé about his son's head injury, especially since he was the one to cause the accident in the first place. There's a short pause before Amy curtly apologises, but the words are out there. Sheila tries to keep the peace but there's still tension between Amy and Gary.
Lassiters Complex
The next morning, Terese finishes a call with one of the investors and tells Paul and Pierce that now all three investors have pulled out of the hotel. Pierce can see now isn't the time to chat about his wine and reschedules for another day. Paul tells Terese he's going to make some calls to try and fix the situation, but Terese doesn't look too hopeful.
Number 32 Backyard
Kyle tells Gary that he just received the penalty notice for the safety breach and it found them both at fault. Gary says that Kyle didn't do anything wrong, but Kyle knows as the registered contractor he should've checked his dad's work. They've both been fined and the work at the tram will be monitored for a while.
GARY: You shouldn't race back to work until you're ready.
KYLE: The quicker the better I reckon. Once this job's finished, I'm done. I'm outta here.
GARY: What, you're leaving Erinsborough?
KYLE: It's pretty clear things haven't been working out. I might go to New York and visit Chris. (Off Gary's silence) You can't really be surprised. Look, Amy's with you. And good luck to the both of you. I mean that. But I think it's best for everyone if I'm not around.
GARY: If that's what you reckon is best.
Kyle remains stoic but his decision seems to be weighing on him.
Ramsay Street
Sheila growls at Paul over Roxy's recent behaviour at her pub, but Paul tells Sheila that "her pub" is about to be sold off to a hedge fund, "so let's see how much they enjoy listening to your whingeing." Their argument is put on hold so they can listen to another argument going on between Amy and Gary out the front of #26. Amy's annoyed Gary appears to be hassling Kyle to go back to work, but Gary replies that Kyle's the keen one to finish the job so he can head off to America. This stuns Amy but she buries her feelings and snaps at Gary to look out for Kyle for once. Sheila attempts to defend Gary and Amy's fight to Paul, but Paul believes those two are always going to make each other miserable.
Number 32
Aaron, David, Kyle and Chloe have convened in the kitchen to discuss with Leo when Roxy is leaving because they've had about enough of her inconsiderate housemate ways. But Leo's in the sympathy for the devil camp because he believes if Roxy doesn't have a place to stay then she's not going to be focused at the bar. Chloe doesn't get why they all have to suffer in the meantime, but Kyle says he'll be bailing in a month so Roxy can have his room then. The others are still disgruntled but Leo pleads with them to give her a chance - he'll chat with Roxy and let her know she needs to up her game.
Lassiters Hotel - Ebony's Office
Pierce chats with Ebony about whether or not he should buy into the hotel. Ebony appears to be on board when Pierce says it won't take too much time away from her. Chloe awkwardly arrives while they're kissing to drop off mail for Ebony. Pierce mentions something about the house, and Ebony again dissuades him from concerning himself over the property. Chloe's Spidey senses are tingling once more, so when Pierce leaves she asks Ebony why she's being so evasive.
Pierce and Ebony's Abode
Ebony introduces Chloe to her sister, Crystal (who is holding a baby). They've been living in the house while Ebony tries to find them a place to live. Chloe is concerned, but Ebony reminds her she's stopped stealing money at least. Crystal also feels bad, and a bit on edge - she thought they were busted when a courier dropped off Ebony's wedding dress that morning. Sympathetic, Chloe tells them there's a regular client at the hotel who manages properties and should be able to find Crystal a house. Ebony's pleasantly surprised by the offer of help.
Number 32 Backyard
Amy can't believe Kyle's going to up and leave once the tram's done, but Kyle says there's nothing for him in Erinsborough anymore. Amy reminds him that Sheila's incredibly happy to have him home, and it'd be a good chance to work things out with Gary. Kyle can't help asking if Amy doesn't want him to leave. There's a loaded silence before Amy half-heartedly shrugs and says, "If you've already made up your mind..."
Ramsay Street
Leo finds Roxy sunbathing out the front and tells her that Kyle's room might be up for grabs. Roxy's keen but Leo says it's not a done deal because the rest of the roomies aren't on board. Roxy shoots back that the rest of them aren't exactly perfect, but she can see Leo genuinely wants to help her so she says she'll try and be better. Paul saunters across the street to tell Roxy she's "on notice", which just makes her smirk.
ROXY: Ooh, I'm scared.
PAUL: Yeah? Well you should be. Because you messed with my business and you hurt Terese. Now if you think that you're going to get any leeway from me because you're family, you can think again. I'm watching you, girl.
Paul heads back to #22. Roxy isn't impressed, and tells Leo as much.
ROXY: That tough guy act is really pathetic.
LEO: Rox, Paul is not the sort of enemy you want to have, okay? Are you hearing me?
But Roxy just yawns and goes back to reading her magazine.
Number 32
Aaron wishes he and David were back in Japan. David agrees and says it was nice to see where his relatives lived, "It really made me think about family." Aaron suggests they invite everyone around for a welcome home lunch, but David admits there's something else "family related" he wanted to talk about. Aaron's intrigued.
Lassiters Complex
Paul's in a better mood when Pierce tells him and Terese that he wants to buy into the hotel and become part owner. Pierce asks if they can let bygones be bygones, but Paul's already like, 'No worries, mate! Welcome aboard! Can't wait to go into Hotel Wars™ with you about three months from now!'
Number 32
Amy walks in from the backyard and overhears David and Aaron talking about something family related, puts 2 and 2 together and comes up with a stork.
AMY: Are you two having a baby? (She ignores the boys' looks and head shaking to the contrary) That's it isn't it! You're finding a surrogate!
AARON: No, and this is why you should never listen to other people's conversations, miss.
AMY: Oh but it's so exciting!
DAVID: It's not what we were talking about.
Amy's like, wink wink, okayyyyy fellas, sure. David changes the subject and asks why Amy barged into their house in the first place. She says she needed some brotherly advice, so Aaron scoots to give them some privacy.
DAVID: I know about Kyle leaving. He gave us his notice earlier.
AMY: I think I might be more upset about it than I should be.
DAVID: What are you saying? You don't want to be with Gary?
AMY: No, no, I love Gary. I want to get married.
DAVID: Then what's the problem?
Amy can't articulate the words, but David can see she's struggling with her feelings.
DAVID: It seems like Kyle being back has knocked you and Gary off course. So maybe you should focus on Gary if he's the future?
AMY: He is. Yeah, he is, definitely.
The sigh and half-hearted smile is really selling that love, Ames.
Number 26
Sheila sets a calendar down in front of Kyle and says he can't leave any time soon because there are so many events he'll miss out on like Aaron and David's wedding anniversary, her birthday and Honga's baby's christening. Kyle smiles and tells his Gran there's no need to worry - he's had a bit of a re-think and might not be leaving after all.
KYLE: Maybe there's more for me in Erinsborough than I thought.
SHEILA: So you've sorted things out with your father?
KYLE: Not exactly.
SHEILA: Then why the change of heart?
KYLE: Well, Chloe seemed pretty devo at the idea... and I might have had a chat with Amy.
SHEILA: (unimpressed) And what did she have to say for herself?
KYLE: Nothing. She didn't say anything.
SHEILA: But you read something into it.
KYLE: I never said that.
SHEILA: So you're not staying for Amy then?
Kyle just shrugs, sips his tea and says, "Who knows?" which doesn't fill Sheila with a load of confidence.
Pierce and Ebony's Abode
Ebony and Crystal smile in relief as Chloe hands the keys over to a new property Crystal and her kids can stay in. There's also a pre-paid cab out the front waiting for them. Chloe offers to do a once over of the house so Ebony can help her sister move into the new place ASAP. Ebony thanks Chloe profusely but Chloe says she still wants Ebony to come clean with Pierce. Ebony smiles and nods.
Number 26 Backyard
Amy gives Gary a few kisses and says she knows what happened with Kyle at the tram was just an accident. But Gary admits that he had been preoccupied with trying to one-up his own son. Amy feels bad that Gary thinks he has to try and keep proving himself and says her future is with him. Gary's pleased with this turn of events, but not for long.
AMY: I might have caught Aaron and David talking about surrogates.
GARY: Yeah, well that's what's happening nowadays. I'm happy for them.
AMY: Can't you imagine them with a little baby!
GARY: It'll be a lucky kid I'm sure.
AMY: I've always loved the idea of another one... With you.
GARY: ... Okay. Wow!
AMY: I know the timing's not great and we should definitely talk about it more once the wedding's done, but I really want this, Gary. I want us to have a baby!
Gary is very much lost for words.
Pierce and Ebony's Abode
Chloe is doing a final check for any of Crystal's leftover belongings when she sees a box on the bed with Ebony's wedding dress in it. Chloe can't help opening it up to have a peek. She holds the dress against herself just as Pierce appears, confused to not only find Chloe at his house but to almost be humming here comes the bride to herself. Pierce asks what's going on and Chloe silently panics.
