Penthouse suite
Chloe informs Paul that Max has left, which Amy is glad to hear so that she can now be told the full story. After telling Leo to go home (because he's had too much to drink) Paul begins by telling Terese that "none of this was planned" but she is quick to reply that "you plan everything Paul!"
We hear that Paul did set up a meeting with Max a few weeks ago and Chloe was there to handle the paperwork. However, Max found Chloe charming (she made him laugh) and by the end of the meeting he called her Amy and they just didn't correct him. "Why on earth didn't you correct him?!" Terese asks and Paul replies that investors aren't in abundance and didn't want to admit too that his project manager had quit! Max then wanted 'Amy' to attend all further meetings, for which Paul paid her money to keep up the act.
Terese isn't amused at Paul keeping it from her and lying to her. "This isn't about us, this is about saving Robinson Pines," he tries to explain to her. "You don't get it, do you?!" she tells Paul and orders Chloe to meet her in her office in 10 minutes before walking out.
Lassiters Lake
Paul is trying to explain things to Amy as they walk towards the lake. He confirms that Kyle didn't know either, it was just Chloe and himself and adds that "it was never my intention to hurt anyone." Amy reminds him that is what he keeps doing repeatedly and isn't impressed either that his instinct always seems to be to go "for the low road." We hear that Max was Paul's last resort of getting more investment for phase 2 and admits that he has no idea what to do now.
PAUL: Amy, I'm sorry for everything.
He also adds that she can finish up when she wants, he won't keep her tied in. Rather than taking up his offer, she instead asks to see the figures to allow her and Kyle to check if they can conjure something up. "Leave the budget with me, you need to talk to Terese!" she finishes with.
Terese's office
Chloe goes for the honesty policy when explaining all to Terese, who isn't amused at her PA failing to undertake the 'keeping an eye on Paul' that was requested of her. "You looked me in the eye, and you lied," a very peeved off Terese tells her! Chloe acknowledges and apologises for that before tentatively asking if she is fired? "I don't know," Terese honestly replies back, she needs time to think.
Coffee pavilion
Amy drops by to tell Gary in person that she needs to cancel their plans as she's got to look through the budget. He totally understands that however asks why she isn't walking away now, but she feels she'd let everyone down "Paul Robinson does not realise how lucky he is," Gary informs her, and Amy admits that she feels sorry for her dad as he went into the project with good intentions, which will crash if she can't fix the budget.
Gary's face then brightens up when it comes out that there is another reason for the visit - Amy has agreed to move back into #26... as long as it's okay with Sheila, but Gary promises to sort his mum out.
The Waterhole
Its Paul's turn to try and explain things to Terese, but she just wishes that she'd stuck to her guns - that he needs to get out of his ivory towers and start treating everyone like an equal, including her. He pleads that he is meeting her half-way in the living arrangements and she has a new demand - "no more half-way."
TERESE: You need to stop going around thinking that you're the puppet master of everyone and come back to down to earth.
Paul asks how he is supposed to do that and is informed that he should know the answer to that!
TERESE: Those are my terms. You can either take it or I don't think we can work.
(Later)
Kyle and Amy are going through the budget to see if something can be done. He asks how she is feeling about Chloe pretending to be her.
AMY: It's what dad does, makes a mess, hurts people. It would be easier if I didn't care, but I do.
Number 32
Chloe is getting no sympathy from Aaron and David when she explains all to them. Aaron plans to continue to hold her credit card hostage until she puts "her big girl pants on" and goes to talk to Amy.
Backpackers
When Chloe mentioned that it was Leo who dropped her in it, a concerned David hauled himself from the pool to go check on his brother. Leo however is nonchalant over what he did and would rather not do the deep and meaningful with his brother over how he is post-Piper.
DAVID: You can't keep drowning your problems in booze.
LEO: Talking's not going to change anything. It just gives everyone else an excuse to lie to each other.
"I never lied to you," David tells him, but Leo casts up that he did over being straight. David takes offence at that and goes to leave, but not before telling his brother to get some sleep and sober up.
Penthouse suite
Amy and Kyle have re-located themselves to the penthouse, trying to conjure up a miracle with the figures, but decide to take a beer break.
Number 26
Sheila is happy to hear that Amy is moving back in and promises to work on her boundaries too!
Penthouse suite
"No miracles yet," Amy reports to Paul when he comes home and asks how things are going. He tells them to have a room service dinner on him and it suddenly dawns on Amy she should be at #26 for dinner.
Number 26/Penthouse suite
"Just make sure you don't work too hard," Gary tells Amy after she breaks the news that she isn't going to be home for dinner.
Penthouse suite
It's just like old times, with Kyle able to predict what Amy won't have on her pizza when he suggests they have one for their supper. However, although she's seen it many times before, Amy doesn't look so happy this time to see Kyle's bare chest after a beer accident has him quickly pulling off his t-shirt to go and rinse it out.
(Later)
It would appear the duo have pulled an all-nighter trying to figure out an answer and its worked, as Kyle has come up with the magic number combination! Amy sincerely thanks him for his input, telling him she'd never have manged without his help, as they head out to the balcony so Kyle can put on his now dry t-shirt.
Lassiters Complex
"Admiring the empire?" David asks after spotting his dad looking at Lassiters, but turns out he is weighing up Terese's ultimatum and David wants to know what the problem is? He can't see why Paul is in two minds and is firmly agreeing with Terese's option that he is too controlling! "That penthouse is who I am," Paul tries to explain to his son, but David points out that where you live doesn't define you, it's the people that you love that do that.
DAVID: And the people that love you, people like Terese. Just think about that.
Number 32
Chloe is on tenterhooks waiting to hear if she still has a job or not. She demands to know where her party invite was when Kyle reveals he didn't come home last night, but he puts her straight on exactly what it was he was doing - sorting out the mess she helped create! "I'm sorry you had to do that," she replies but is glad it all worked out.
Backpackers
"Time to get up," David declares as he pulls the duvet off of Leo! Leo apologises for what he said, however its reinforced to David what a mess his brother is in. David doesn't half mince his words at his brother over his lifestyle and his living arrangements and is pulling the "brother card" out.
Penthouse suite
Paul surveys his home weighing up what Terese and David said to him.
Number 22
Paul arrives bearing a gift for Terese - one of his chess pieces (the white queen), the first thing that he wants to move into #22!
PAUL: You were right, we're ready... I am ready. From now on, no more negotiations, no more deals, no more bargains, just you and me together.
"What about the penthouse?" Terese asks and while Paul concedes that he does love it, but it belongs to a different Paul Robinson... the one who needed the status and trappings.
PAUL: The new me is after something more... you.
TERESE: Are you sure?
PAUL: Am I sure I love you and want to move in here and build a future together. Never been more surer of anything.
Ramsay Street
"What's going on?" Gary asks his mum after seeing her watching the goings-on in the street and she replies that it appears "Moneybags" is moving into #22. "He's slumming it," Gary comments and both chuckle at what services he will no longer be getting from not living in the penthouse suite!
Their attention is then drawn to a car pulling into the driveway of #32 and out of the car comes Leo with his belongings! Cue daggered looks from Leo to Terese and Paul across the street while the Canning's can barely contain their glee!
SHEILA: This is going to be really interesting! Get us a couple of chairs!
Harold's Café
Amy is in for more coffee when she runs into Aaron. He apologises to her for what Chloe did but while not letting her off the hook, Amy knows who was really behind it - Paul. Aaron offers his assistance in any way to her but is told he doesn't need to apologise for his sister.
Gary enters the café and is pleased to hear that Amy got a resolution to her woes although he seems to be under the impression that Kyle didn't stay to help her.
After Gary heads to the counter to get served, Aaron wants clarification that Kyle did help her, which she confirms but has no idea why she let Gary think otherwise. "Did something happen?!" he asks, and Amy is quick to reply "no." Aaron reminds her that dad and lad do talk to each other and that Kyle has been going on about how hard he worked too.
AARON: If Gary finds out that you lied to him, it's going to look very suss!
