- Elly urging Susan, Bea and Xanthe to stick to their story.
Hospital
Bea stands watching the unconscious Finn through the window from the corridor.
Number 24
Mark is curious to know what Finn was doing in the cabin and given Bea's therapist file was found there too, then wonders if he was planning on using it against her? "It wouldn't surprise me," Elly replies, trying to distance herself from the conversation.
Number 28
Karl is telling Susan about his trip, but she's zoned out. He reassures her that Finn won't be able to hurt her any more. "I'm fine," she tries to reassure him with, saying that she's more worried about Bea and Elly.
Number 26 backyard
Piper thinks that Xanthe needs a friend to talk to about Finn, but the lassie doesn't want to talk, dismissing doing that as "a waste of mental energy" and would rather concentrate on studying.
Hospital
Gary joins Bea and hopes she isn't going in (no, even if the police would let her) so wonders why she is there. "I just can't bring myself to leave," she admits.
Number 28
Karl points out to Susan that Finn caused her anguish too and she needs time to process that. "I'm fine," she protests but looks anything but that!
Number 26 backyard
Piper still thinks that Xanthe should be talking and not studying but the lass is simply wanting to ignore the whole thing, including nonchalantly replying "fine by me," when Piper pointed out that Finn could die.
Number 24
Mark is impressed at how well Elly is holding up and she replies she's to stay strong for her sister, as she will probably be fragile for a while. "But yes, she will be okay. I will be too," Elly finishes with and Mark compliments her on how strong she is.
Hospital
Gary admits that he gets why Bea is watching Finn and cannot believe he is actually here, however wants him to wake up as dying like this "is too easy." At this point Bea is in tears and Gary tries to reassure her that Finn might yet have to face the music.
The Waterhole
Pierce and Chloe are just finishing their lunch when Paul conveniently comes into The Waterhole to see Pierce giving Chloe another pressie - a ring...but not an engagement ring! The ring is barely on her finger before Chloe hastily departs back to work.
"Nice rock," Paul comments when he naturally runs into her as she is leaving and asks if it's a gift for "services rendered?"
CHLOE: Don't you ever get sick of barking up the wrong tree?
Paul brings the bubbles over to where David and Aaron are waiting and has an offer for them - a house in the new Robinson Pines development. "No way," David immediately replies, adding that they want to stand on their own two feet.
PAUL: You're a married couple living in a share house. I think you might need some space.
The boys agree to think about it in the meantime as a way to appease Paul, although if Aaron had his way he'd be already be saying 'yes please' to Paul's offer!
Harold's café
"It's just a job," Amy tries to tell Gary after breaking the news to him that she's accepted the job Paul offered her. Gary is sure there will be strings attached, so Paul can come between them. "I won't let it affect us," she promises him as well as reassuring him of the terms she's given Paul for taking the job on.
Number 28
Susan and Elly look relieve to see Bea walk through the front door although Elly doesn't look too impressed to hear that she was at the hospital.
BEA: I'm a mess and I have nobody to talk to about this.
Susan is quick to say she can talk to them and Elly reminds her sister that "we are in this together." Elly forbids her sister finding a new therapist as its too risky, since she rightly didn't want to go back to her old therapist.
The ladies quickly go quiet when Karl comes out of the bedroom to say bye to them before heading to work.
ELLY: I'm sorry. I just... I know this is really hard for you, but the stakes are too high. If you need to talk to anyone then it has to be one of us.
Penthouse suite
Paul is surprised to see Pierce and Terese visiting him. Pierce wastes no time in saying when they are there - to buy him out of Lassiters. Paul literally bursts out laughing on hearing that and wonders what makes them think he'd even consider it! Pierce reveals his contacts say he's overextended to buy Robinson Pines, which Terese backs up, and threatens him with a "poorly timed bankruptcy" if he doesn't agree to the proposal. Paul doesn't want the 7 days offered to him, he knows his answer already, and orders the pair out.
Hospital
No change in Finn, he's still unconscious.
Number 28
Bea explains to her aunt about the message she passed onto Finn via Miranda as to how he was in Erinsborough.
BEA: The guilt is killing me Susan.
SUSAN: I know, I'm struggling with it too.
BEA: He could die.
SUSAN: What happened on that cliff wasn't planned. If it hadn't have been him, it would have been one of us... maybe all of us.
Harold's café
Chloe feels that Pierce is stalking her when they meet each other in the café. He comments on her bare fingers and she goes into her bag to return the ring too him, citing that it's "far too generous." Her pleas don't work, and she is told and then to sell the ring if she does not like it.
Elly seems impressed that out of the 4 of them, it's Xanthe who is holding up the best when she comes over to talk to her. Xanthe's trick seems to be keeping busy, although is fearful of what will happen if he wakes up. "I don't want to think about that," Elly admits and tries to pacify Xanthe that the right thing to do was leave Finn, the cliff was too steep to go down.
ELLY: And to be honest, I don't blame you for not wanting to treat a guy, not someone who's done that to you.
XANTHE: I wanted him dead Elly.
ELLY: Xanthe, you're not the only one.
The Waterhole
Terese relents into a minor PDA by holding hands with Leo as she tells him about the proposal she and Pierce put to Paul. The man in question is sitting at a table behind them and once the PDA commences, he suddenly goes to leave.
Meanwhile at another table, Amy is still trying to convince Gary that she is going to be okay working for Paul. It must have worked because this time he agrees to back her one hundred percent!
Lassiters lift
Aaron tries to convince David to agree to Paul's offer but eventually accepts David's rational - that it given the trouble between Leo/Paul could be seen as a bribe to keep them onside.
Penthouse suite
The boys arrive in the suite as Paul is going ape on the phone - apparently one of his investors (Miles Collier) is pulling out of Robinson Pines. Aaron asks "why", and Paul immediately replies "Pierce Grayson!" "What does he have to do with the development?" a confused David asks, and Paul tells him about the visit from Pierce earlier in the day.
PAUL: It was nothing short of blackmail. I have poured every single last bit of capital I have into this venture. It could end up ruining me.
DAVID: There must be a way to derail Pierce.
PAUL: There isn't because unfortunately he is correct, I have overextended myself. You know if I don't agree to give up my share of Lassiters, I could lose everything that I've fought so hard to rebuild.
Hospital
Bea's back watching Finn but there is still no change. Even Karl seems fed up seeing her there after he exits the room and says one of the nurses can contact her if there's been a change, but she wants to stay.
Karl heads off and Bea has someone to keep her company - Ned. He is somewhat surprised when she acknowledges that she now gets what he went through with Cassius.
NED: (confused) Really?
BEA: Yes. I know you didn't mean for him to get hurt and sometimes good people can do not so great things.
Ned thanks her and agrees to her request of them going back to how things were before.
Number 24
Chloe is surprised to see Elly come out of the bedroom at #24 but has someone to talk to about her ring dilemma.
CHLOE: It's not an engagement ring... but it sure as heck feels like one.
ELLY: Enough's enough Chloe, how many times do I have to tell you, you need to end this?!
Chloe acknowledges that she needs to end things with Pierce but he's rather persuasive. Elly wants to know what is holding her back, since she is supposed to be able to get out of their agreement at any time and urges her to get it sorted so she can get her website back on track to pay her mum with less complicated dates!
Terese's office
Leo and Terese are having a bit of a heart-to-heart over her takeover proposal when Paul barges into the office in a rage! He demands to talk to Terese in private and Terese sends Leo away, saying she can "handle it."
Paul begins by expressing his anger at being forced out of Lassiters and is reminded that they don't exactly have a good working relationship.
TERESE: I want what's best for this hotel, but you have made it very difficult for me to do that.
PAUL: Terese, I have put my heart and soul into this hotel.
TERESE: And so have I but that hasn't stopped you kicking me out when it's suited you!
She pleads with him to take the offer so that it will allow him to continue with his property developments but its no deal!
PAUL: This hotel means more to me.
Terese reminds him how he got his hands back on Lassiters and adds that he won't get a lump sum this time if things go belly up.
TERESE: Come on Paul, I know you can't see it now, but this is the best possible outcome for you, for all of us.
Paul doesn't reply, instead glowers at her before hurriedly departing and slamming the door on the way out!
Harold's café
With Karl and Mark off ordering food, Elly chairs a mini-summit among the ladies to see how everyone is going. Despite it being hard not to, neither Bea, Susan or Xanthe have talked about what happened with anyone else but Elly wants them to talk if they are struggling... just not to anyone outside the quartet.
At the counter, the men each ask how their respective partner is coping and while its positive comments, Karl's face tells that he knows something is bothering Susan.
Terese's office
After handing over the paperwork, Chloe comment that she saw Paul earlier and that he looked "pretty upset."
TERESE: That's an understatement. He's furious.
Chloe wonders if he will sell and Terese thinks that Pierce will convince Paul to sell, he's not a man who doesn't get what he wants! "Yes, he is," Chloe quietly says before Terese praises her role in how things are coming together, Pierce has been very complimentary about her during his stay at Lassiters.
TERESE: Whatever you're doing, keep it up.
Terese then sincerely thanks Chloe for her loyalty, especially after sticking her neck out, and adds that she'd be lost without her.
The Waterhole
And its celebration time as Pierce, Chloe, Terese, Leo and Piper drink to the prospect of the new ownership of Lassiters.
Chloe pulls Pierce aside to compliment the man of the hour, telling him that this deal will change Terese's life. "I'm not doing it to be a hero," he replies and admits that he has no interest in supporting Terese. "Then why you doing it?" a confused Chloe asks.
PIERCE: In a word, you.
CHLOE: So, you wouldn't be making the offer to buy Paul out if it weren't for our arrangement?
PIERCE: Well, exactly. Owning Lassiters means we can keep spending time together and getting to know each other. That's all I care about right now.
