Lassiters Complex
It's awkward.com between Amy and Gary over his declaration. Amy seems fine about what was said, its Gary that gets himself into a fluster (over the definition of 'love') until he eventually tells her to forget what he said before hurriedly rushing away!
Number 24
Mark is the one with the level head on as everyone (Aaron, Elly and Piper) sit waiting for news on Tyler. Its quite tense between the brothers and eventually they head off in different directions to avoid each other!
Elly makes the tea for herself and Piper and the lass admits that the waiting is getting to her too. What isn't helping is the daily phone call from Cassius, although she's refusing to answer - she knows the number so now doesn't pick the phone up.
Penthouse suite
Amy debates whether to call Gary or not but the answer is made for her when she hears the lift ping and its Rob that arrives. He mis-interprets the reason Amy has a glass of whisky on hand, but his head is so full of what they're going to do with the house that he doesn't realise that Amy is barely paying attention.
Number 26 backyard
Xanthe is happy to know her dad has the money, so she can still go to Uni although Sheila is more thinking practically like how quickly Amy will want her money back and will there be interest charged. "I don't know, we'll work out the details later mum," Gary explains.
Eventually Sheila decides that they need to do something to thank Amy, but all the suggestions get rejected by Gary, including having her over for dinner. Thankfully Sheila has another idea that meets with everyone's approval - one of her gnomes (Mr Hanky Panky) that Amy liked when she lived there... that will do until they can think of something better later.
Penthouse suite
Amy has told Rob what she's done and as expected, he doesn't get her rationale over why she gave Gary the money. She makes it clear it was her decision and is confident Gary will pay her back. "So, what does this mean for the house?" he asks.
The Waterhole
Amy chats to Elly about what Gary said and admits that he thinks that he really did mean 'love' after Elly pushes her for her feeling. Elly now twigs that there were signs before, but nobody picked up on them.
AMY: I've never even thought about Gary in this way.
"Could you?" Elly asks, and Amy brings up that it will be "extremely weird" given she was with Kyle. "Its not weird to consider it," suggests Elly, but Amy remembers that she is with Rob and needs to sort that out first, however Elly thinks that she should at least talk to Gary.
Meanwhile at the bar, Mark joins his brother, and both agree they were idiots for taking it out on each other as they nervously wait for news. Sheila comes over to see the boys to tell them about a call she got - from Cassius who wants to see her. "I don't really know why," she admits and although they aren't exactly thrilled at her meeting him, they give their blessing especially as Sheila is extremely curious to know why he wants to see her.
Number 26 backyard
Gary sits in the backyard debating whether to call Amy or not but before he decides, he gets a visitor - Rob. He wants to know if he's cashed the cheque yet but rather than answer, Gary wants to know why Rob wants to know. "That money was supposed to go towards our house," Rob solemnly replies, and Gary's comeback is that Amy thinks that Xanthe's education is a higher priority. Rob suggests he pays the money back but Gary has no intention of doing that unless Amy herself asks for it. Rob starts dishing out the insults and Gary asks him to leave and eventually he does that.
Warrinor Prison
"Cassius why am I here?" Sheila asks, and he replies so he can apologise for lying to her and for how Hamish's death has impacted on her family. He admits that he thought Sheila would tear strips off him and she replies that she does have a few things to say!
Harold's café
Xanthe is somewhat surprised that Piper gave Sheila the okay to go visit Cassius, but the lass explains that unlike Mark and Aaron, she doesn't hate him just hates what he did. She also admits that her feelings are so messed up that she's not quite sure what is right.
XANTHE: Its complicated, I get that.
PIPER: It's doing my head in. So, until I've sorted everything out, I'm just, I'm going to avoid all contact.
Xanthe asks if she will go see Tyler if he gets out but Piper isn't thinking about that, "it's all too much."
XANTHE: Just take it one step at a time, it's all you can do... and please talk to your bestie if you need.
Piper leaves to head to #24 and swaps places with Amy and Xanthe can't but thank Amy enough.
AMY: Seriously, thank me by becoming a doctor and saving lives.
As another thank you, Amy is invited for dinner (Sheila's invite) but she wants to know what Gary's saying about the invite. Xanthe replies that he thought Amy would be busy and surprisingly Amy is busy tonight and when Xanthe suggest tomorrow, "I'll get back to you on that," is Amy's polite way of stalling!
Warrinor Prison
Sheila is after answers on how nice boy Cassius could have done such a thing although concedes that they may never have got justice for Tyler if he hadn't appeared in their lives. Cassius reveals he would have found a way into Ramsay Street even if Sheila hadn't have hired him, because he needed to find his medallion since it linked him to the scene. "In my back yard," she forcefully reminds him!!
SHEILA: I can still see the police tape, the police carrying out Hamish's body. Oh yes, his death was shocking and sad, but I was so hurt and so angry. The amount of damage that man caused in just a few short months, not only to me but to all the Brennan's and you. And you've had to endure that for your entire life. And that's why I will accept your apology.
Cassius is happy shocked to hear that and wiping away a tear, he thanks her before asking if she can persuade Piper to come and see him.
Penthouse suite
Rob is trying to get convince Amy that Gary is taking advantage of her, she simply can't see it. She is peeved with him going to see Gary and after they pair exchange a few more angry words at each other, she tells him straight - "this isn't working."
ROB: What are you talking about?
AMY: This relationship. Us.
She then asks him to leave and he ignores that to say since she hasn't got her share of the deposit, they can get a house together later. Amy then spells it out bluntly to him - she didn't want to buy a house.
AMY: I never did. I'm so sorry but I can't be with you anymore.
Rob looks absolutely gutted to hear her say that.
Harold's café
Sheila is only half listening to Xanthe talk about being inspired by athletes participating in the Invictus Games (and getting to interview one of them) after hearing about them from her physio.
Number 24
Mark tries to keep Piper and Aaron's emotions in check by reminding them that Tyler might not be coming home, he might still have to serve time for the assault on Hamish. Before they say more about that, Sheila arrives and tells Piper that Cassius wants to see her. The boys are annoyed to hear that Cassius has been in contact with Piper and wonder what he wants to see Piper for.
SHEILA: He's clearly got a reason; the boy is still in love.
Piper admits there is a part of her that wants to see him, and Sheila thinks she'd get closure by going to see him. "I never got that with Tyler and it really messed with my head," she remembers but "this time its my decision" although Mark's words from earlier is confusing her.
PIPER: We've said everything we need to say to each other. I'm not going.
Harold's café
Elly curtails the telephone conversation with Amy when Xanthe comes to the table for their study session. Xanthe is curious to know who she was chatting too and as soon as Elly has said "Amy," she immediately asks how much of the conversation Xanthe heard! "Nothing," is her confused reply but then she starts to piece together all the snippets of her dad and Amy's behaviour however, before she can formulate an answer, Elly quickly brings her attention back to the study session. Xanthe now wonders if Amy is regretting giving Gary the loan and despite Elly saying no, the lass has been quickly doing the maths in her head...
ELLY: Why don't you tell me what you know?
XANTHE: I'll tell you if you tell me first!
Number 26
"You told Amy you were in love with her?" Xanthe says to her dad as she comes to find him out in the backyard. "How do you know?" he replies with but rather than answer that, she gives him the news that Amy has broken up with Rob today "because clearly she has feelings for you." Gary doesn't want Xanthe getting carried away, that revelation might not have anything to do with what he said to Amy.
The lass just about squeals when Gary receives a text from Amy asking him to meet her at The Terrace. Gary is confused over what it means but Xanthe can't get him there quick enough.
GARY: Don't blow this out of proportion.
XANTHE: Dad, please just let me be happy for you okay. You and Amy are perfect together and this might actually be happening right now.
And Gary can't get into the house quick enough to get ready!
Warrinor Prison
Cassius doesn't look very happy at his next visitors - Mark and Aaron! "You've got some nerve using Sheila like that," Mark opens up with. Cassius explains that he wanted to apologise to Piper but is forcefully told that she doesn't want to talk to him and Aaron warns him to stop the calls. "If that will make her happy," he begrudgingly replies to the boys, adding that he wants everyone to "live in peace." That's like a red rag to a bull for Aaron!
AARON: (angrily) You ripped my family apart! Our lives will never be the same again. Tyler's lost a year of his and he may never come back from that.
Mark tries to get his brother to calm down, but Aaron isn't finished yet.
AARON: You are no better than your low life father.
The Terrace
Gary is all suited and booted as he arrives to meet Amy. She thanks him for coming and thought that they needed to talk. Amy begins by apologising for Rob hassling him about the money, then admits that its what broke the camel's back and that she has split up from him. However, she adds that she isn't ready to jump into another relationship just yet, she needs time. Gary asks when she's ready, is there a chance for them?
AMY: You meant what you said at the lake didn't you?
GARY: Yes I did.
AMY: Our friendship means so much to me, and I care about you a lot. I just need to get my head around that.
Gary accepts what he's heard, and Amy reassures him that he is still her bestie, something he is relieved to still hear.
Number 24
The boys are still arguing over what Aaron said to Cassius as they enter the house and Piper is shocked to hear that they went to the prison. "He had to be told to stop bothering you," Mark explains. "Did I ask you to do that?!" she angrily asks and seems distraught that Cassius might think she sent them there. "We're looking out for you," Mark tries to tell her and Aaron thinks she should not care what Cassius thinks at all.
Thankfully Toadie calls at the right time, to stop the argument. Neither Piper or Aaron can work out what is being said thanks to Mark's neutral expression. He ends the call by thanking Toadie for the update then tells the pair of them what was said - the hearing is going to go ahead in Victoria (Toadie requested that).
PIPER: So, Tyler's transfer has been approved?
MARK: He'll be back in Erinsborough tomorrow.
