Previously
- Chloe being diagnosed with Huntington's disease.
- Chloe deciding to keep her diagnosis quiet until after Aaron's wedding.
- Jemima overhearing Susan trying to warn Paul that she is a gold digger.
- Jemima wanting to move on after Susan apologises to her.
- Terese agreeing to give a relationship with Leo a go on condition they keep it between themselves.
- Chloe getting a request for a date from someone she knows.
Number 24
"Well who is it?" Mark asks but Chloe is keeping tight-lipped, only saying that she will handle it... which translates to going out with the person and asks for her brothers to forget she said anything.
Chloe heads off to her room and the boys are aghast at what she is planning on doing but equally are curious to know whom the male might be. Aaron asks David if it could be Paul but thinks not, as they think he is dating Karl's sister.
Number 28
The atmosphere is very tense as Karl still hasn't forgive Susan and eventually decides to head out to get some fresh air. "Ouch," Elly remarks and Susan acknowledges that she probably deserves the treatment for crossing the line. "I hate the tension," she also admits and is curious to know why Karl cleared the browser history on the iPad.
The Waterhole
Both Terese and Leo are in the bar, sitting in different parts of it with family members but continue to text one another. Neither can keep the smile off their face and has both Piper and David curious to know why a text brings so much joy given who they are supposed to be texting about work - Terese maintenance or housekeeping, she keeps getting mixed up and Leo a supplier!
PIPER: (to her mum) You're being really weird, just so you know.
Harold's café
David reports into Aaron (and Mark) that Chloe's date isn't Leo. Elly has escaped #28 and quickly tells the boys about the tension at home and about Karl clearing the iPad history before going over to chat with Amy to get the latest goss about Dr Rob. Aaron now thinks it could be Karl that is meeting Chloe, although Mark thinks neither of them would go there!
Lassiters Park
After their texts, Terese and Leo meet up but decide that they need somewhere more private. Terese vetoes the penthouse, Lassiters and the backpackers citing that they are too risky! The pair are almost caught when they are about to pash but Terese catches the Brennan brothers out of the corner of her eye.
So, turns it out that Chloe is indeed meeting Karl, as the brothers spot her talking to him in the rotunda.
MARK: That could be anything?
AARON: Really?
Number 28
"What the..." Susan says after coming out of her bedroom to find the living room Jemimafied! Actually, it is called Hygge - the "whole Danish way of living" according to Jemima. "But we're not in Denmark," Susan points out as Karl comes home and asks for a quiet private word with him!
Although he didn't sanction the changes, he likes them (the sofa is covered in crocheted blankets and fluffy cushions) but what is more getting to Susan is the tension in the house since Jemima arrived. She brings up him clearing the iPad history, and he offers to explain if she is willing to "try and understand."
(Later)
During the commercial break, Karl has told Susan and asks if she "is angry?" "I'm too tired to be angry," is her reply and wishes he'd come to her first. "I was worried we'd have an argument," he explains but she is relieved he's told her and can "sort of understand". "I just want things to be better between us," Karl says, which Susan wants to happen to and agrees to put it behind them on the understanding that there is "no more secrets."
SUSAN: I can deal with her, I can. I can't deal with the secrets.
"I promise," Karl acknowledges and Susan volunteers, despite Karl thinking it's odd, to take his place at the appointment as a way to "get rid of the awkwardness."
The Waterhole
Over drinks, Leo laments to Ned (since he's the only one in the know) about not having anywhere private to go with Terese. Ned has a suggestion and shows Leo something on his iPhone.
Meanwhile, Piper tells Xanthe that "there's something going on with mum," but isn't exactly sure what, but has a feeling that Terese isn't "telling me something."
XANTHE: Good or bad?
PIPER: Who knows with mum, it could go either way.
Xanthe then confides in her friend that her dad too has been weird lately and Piper puts that down to her seizure.
Number 28
Mark comes calling but it is not Elly he wants to talk to and gets straight to the point by asking Karl - what was he talking to Chloe about!
Number 24
"How was your date?" Aaron asks when Chloe gets home and she is confused as she wasn't on a date. Aaron doesn't believe her, both he and Mark saw her with Karl.
Number 28
Karl is refusing to say anything other than telling Mark to talk to his sister.
Number 24
"I wasn't on a date with Karl," Chloe makes abundantly clear adding that she hasn't even replied to the person they know yet. Aaron now wants to know what she was doing then with Karl? "Getting free medical advice," is her reply and then saying "bunions," when Aaron pushed her over what the advice was. She isn't amused at her brothers for their "betrayal of trust," and storms off to her room. "Text Mark," David quickly tells Mark and he picks up his phone to do that.
Number 28
Mark isn't satisfied with Karl's responses and makes it known that he knows (through Elly) about the tension in the house and the browser clearing, so offers his services if Karl needs someone to talk to. Turns out that Karl has been secretive about trying to get his sister a job! "Really?" not just Mark but the newly arrived Jemima also says!
Karl explains that Robinson Heights are looking for a new stylist and he contacted Amy to talk about it, but didn't want to tell Jemima until he knew it was a goer.
The Terrace
Susan is explaining to Amy why she is here rather than Karl, when Jemima arrives. "Karl let the cat out of the bag," she tells them before Susan praises her sister-in-law for the wonderful job she did on #28, despite appearing the opposite earlier... although she appears now to be coming around to what Jemima did and somewhat consents to changing the white boxes too. Susan heads off to let the ladies chat and Amy asks why she wants the job.
JEMIMA: I don't. Why would I want a job?
AMY: I don't understand...
JEMIMA: Oh, but hearing Susan say nice things about me...priceless!
Number 24
Chloe is still peeved at her Mark, especially for going over to speak to Karl. "I made a mistake," he acknowledges and adds on that he is sorry. Again, she refuses to tell her brothers who she is going on the date with but does tell them that they can't stop her before she stomps out of the house.
David thinks this is a sign that they should "keep their noses out of it." Mark comments that he isn't the one that needs to pay heed, he accepts that while he is still worried, its Chloe's life and he's got other things to focus on.
DAVID: And shouldn't we be trying to be carefree newlyweds?
AARON: Yes sorry, I just hope that whoever this guy is, he's as far removed from the street as possible.
Number 26
Out in the backyard, Gary looks at one of Chloe's business cards (cash4company).
Number 28
Chloe comes over to apologise to Karl for Mark's visit and to ask that they can forget it happened. Karl reminds her that she promised to tell her family once Aaron got married, which she promises she will once she finds the right time.
Chloe trades places with Jemima and she informs him, despite Susan's good words, she isn't the new stylist of Robinson Heights. "Are you disappointed he asks?" and she ignores that, instead while looking at a picture of the Kennedy kids, that she likes helping folk. A puzzled Karl asks if they "are still talking about the job interview?" "Karma," she eventually replies - she wants to repay Susan for all of her kindness... "and we're going to need your toolbox."
Marina
Terese and Leo have found somewhere for their alone time - the boat! She reassures him that she wants this, but has to make sure "it's right." "I know," Leo acknowledges before saying he's checked the roster and there is plenty of spaces for them to make use of the boat. He suggests that one day they might be able to take the boat out on the open water which brings back a teenage memory of Terese's. She tells him that her parents (before their divorce) owned a boat and one day Nick and herself too it out on the water.
LEO: I still can't imagine you in the Northern Territory.
TERESE: There's a lot you don't know about me.
He wants to know what her hopes and dreams were as a kid and likewise now. "I want to know about your life too," she replies. "Where do I begin," he seductively replies before certain needs take priority!
Number 26
"Stargazing," is Gary's reply when Xanthe comes out to the backyard and asks him what is doing - the correct answer would have been looking again at that cash4company card. "Dad, are you lonely?" Xanthe asks and eventually he replies, "a little." Xanthe volunteers to sort that but Gary assures he's got it all sorted.
Number 28
Taking literally that Susan said earlier she was happy for the cubes to go in #28, Karl and Jemima are kitted out in their workclothes ready to start demolishing it! With inspiration of pretending you're hitting someone that has annoyed you, the pair are well getting into it when Susan comes home!
SUSAN: What on earth!!!
KARL: Hello darling.
SUSAN: What are you doing?!!
JEMIMA: Hygge!
Susan demands to know why Jemima threw the job back in Amy's face. Jemima doesn't see it like that, they simply had a nice chat. Karl thinks there's been a misunderstanding, but Susan looks like she set to murder someone!!!
SUSAN: I have tried to be understanding, but I'm done. Get out!
KARL: Susan!
SUSAN: I am sick of your trouble-making. It ends now Jemima! Get out of the house!!!
