Previously
- Paul firing Sheila.
- The hunt for Susan and Kirsha beginning.
- Shane and Karl joining the search too.
- Karl falling while out searching.
Bush
It is now first light, and Susan and Kirsha have survived the night reasonably well considering. Susan however still can't get a signal on her phone. While initially, Susan doesn't want them to move from the spot they are in, she does relent to Kirsha's suggestion of going 10 minutes in one direction and returning if they've seen nobody.
Meanwhile, Karl can't get a signal on his phone either. Despite the intense pain in his leg, he attempts to get back up onto the higher ground from where he fell from, but a coughing fit and what appears to be him losing consciousness, puts a stop to that.
Camp
Dipi is mightily relived to see Yashvi (and Xanthe) return and tells them that Karl is out searching too. The pair plan on going back out as soon as they've refilled their water bottles but Yashvi ignores her mum's advice on sticking together in a group, to rush off alone (although Xanthe does quickly run after her) - her thinking that they will cover more ground that way.
Harold's café
Mark looks for advice from Toadie, Sonya and Steph that the wine he's bought his mum for Mother's Day is suitable. Before he heads off, he promises to keep them updated with news on the search.
Nell hands over her Mother's Day pressie to Sonya - an egg carton full of little plants. Recognising that it is a tough day for Steph too, Nell hands over a homemade Mother's Day card to her. Despite being more than made welcome, Steph decides to leave them to it for their Mother's Day lunch, citing that she isn't feeling great.
Number 22
Terese likes the Mother's Day pressie Piper is giving her - a personal papering session, which she declares is better than the ones in the spa!
The pair then do their best to hide from Sheila - she is apparently hounding Terese wanting her to get Paul to reverse his decision about sacking her. Sheila is even resorting to trying to let herself into the house, but thankfully, this time the front door is locked!
PIPER: This is like a horror movie.
TERESE: Yes, she's the monster, she's the battle axe!
Bush
Xanthe hears a response to her yells - from Karl. Quickly she makes her way to him and he tells her that his knee is dislocated. He has broken his leg too but there is something else - he suspects he has a blood clot as he is coughing up blood and is finding it hard to breathe. As per Karl, she can't get a signal on her phone but when she climbs back up the hill, she manages to get a signal to enable her to dial 000.
(Later)
Commercial break later and Yashvi comes across Kirsha and Susan! The sisters hug each other for death before Yashvi leads them back to the camp.
Number 22
Piper and Terese are dolled up in their finest outfits to head out for Mother's Day lunch at Harold's but are extremely reluctant to leave the house for fear of running into Sheila! Realising that they must eat (and there is nothing in the house), they decide to order food in food instead.
The Flametree Retreat
Sheila is fed up with her own company, so has come to pay Gary a visit but he is busy. While they are talking, an order from #22 comes in, so Sheila volunteers to deliver it as the driver already has four other orders to do.
The Waterhole
Paul finishes chatting to Jane on how the funeral went to talk to 3 customers at the bar - 3 players from Leeds Rhino's and after wishing them luck in their game, offers to shout them drinks before going over to talk to Steph.
While somewhat surprised to see her in the bar, he empathises equally why she doesn't want to hang out with "the happiest family in Erinsborough." Both have their own reasons for feeling down today - Steph missing her boys and Paul missing his mum. She is taken aback by an invite to join him to share the desserts he's just picked up.
PAUL: Well you're a childless mother and I'm a motherless child, so don't we belong together today?
STEPH: Okay. No weird roleplay though!
Bush
Xanthe returns to tell Karl there is a helicopter coming to airlift him, but the landing area is 100m away. Before they can attempt to leave, she has to help him relocate his knee and put a splint on his leg. "I think we should just wait for the paramedics," is her reaction to doing that but he tells her there is no option and with Karl giving instructions, the kneecap is put back into place.
Camp
Dipi is on the phone to Shane when she spots the returnees and rushes over to hug Kirsha. The lass reassures her mum she is fine and after a hug with Susan, Dipi thanks her for looking after Kirsha. "I think she looked after me," Susan is quick to say while Yashvi is off updating her dad on the phone.
Susan then notices that the camp is devoid of kids and Dipi explains they've been sent home. She then wants to tell Karl that she is safe and Dipi tells her he's here... but is still out searching. "He's not well," Susan states and Dipi then explains that he isn't with Shane and the only reason they know he is out searching is because their car is in the carpark.
SUSAN: Are you saying that he's out there searching by himself?
Penthouse suite
Over their desserts, Paul reminisces to Steph about the time his mum made him a sponge birthday cake. "You don't talk much about your mum," she remarks, and he explains that while some folk talk to keep memories alive, he prefers keeping [his mum] all to himself. Steph worries that when her boys reach the same age as Paul, they won't be speaking about her with the same affection and he points out she has many years to address that.
STEPH: What if the damage is already done?
PAUL: No, there's always a way back to your kids. Simply takes a bit of patience and hard work, that's all.
Realising the direction the conversation has been heading in, both admit they need to change tact and Steph has an idea on something else but isn't sure Paul would be up for it. "Try me!" he replies to her.
Number 22
Terese and Piper are delirious to hear the knock on the door to signal that their food has arrived... but aren't so happy when they see who is delivering the food!
SHEILA: Foods up!
Terese hopes that Sheila has found herself new employment, sadly not! However, Terese doesn't think that she will be able to persuade Paul to change his mind however after Sheila moans, she does promise at least to look at it when she returns from leave.
TERESE: You have my word Sheila.
Bush
Karl and Xanthe have at made it to where the helicopter will land. She leaves him sitting on a felled log to go and see if she can spot the helicopter, but when she turns around to check on him, he is now lying on the ground. Xanthe rushes back to him, but he is unconscious and after doing the ABC check (airway, breathing, and circulation) begins to perform CPR on him.
Lassiters Complex
Steph's idea was going for a bike ride but as soon as Paul spots her and the bike, he says "no way!" He also points out that the bike isn't a distraction, "it's a death trap!"
PAUL: I could end up losing a limb on that thing.
STEPH: Another one?! Jeez, you'd have to be unlucky.
PAUL: Anyway, I'm in a suit.
STEPH: What?! You've got enough money to have it dry cleaned!
Steph then hands him a helmet.
STEPH: Come on, all you need to do is sit and hold onto me like I'm a bond with an average return of 9.1 percent per annum!
Somewhat reluctantly, but with determination in his eyes, he grabs the helmet from her and gets on the back of the bike.
Camp
"Honestly, what was he thinking," Susan remarks after nobody can get hold of either Karl nor Xanthe on their phones. They then spot an air ambulance in the sky and wonder who it is for. At that point both Susan and Dipi look into each other's faces, both worried.
Bush
Despite being knackered, Xanthe is still giving Karl CPR. She breaks off though when she hears the helicopter to signal to them (arms waving) where they are located, and with that done, Xanthe rushes back to resume the CPR.
