- Monique blackmailing Leo
- Leo hiring a private investigator to look into Monique
- Jane getting electrocuted in #32's backyard
- Amy telling Elly she doesn't want to get involved in her love life
- Liam returning to Erinsborough to make amends with Jimmy
- Liam turning out to be Elly's mystery date
Liam and Elly meet one another at the Botanical Gardens and hit it off right away, joking and smiling together.
Meanwhile in the present day, Elly looks quite uncomfortable sharing a drink with Liam, Amy and Leo. Liam tells Amy he's staying at the Flametree Retreat, but before too much chatting can ensue, Elly says she's got a migraine and makes a hasty exit.
Number 32 Backyard
Karl's returning a leaf blower to Shane when he finds Jane lying unconscious. He checks on her vitals and repeatedly asks if she can hear him, but Jane doesn't respond.
Dipi's upset after Yashvi was rude to her after the photo-shoot and asks Shane what she should do, but Shane's hoping it's just a teenage phase that will blow over. He gets a phone call from Karl letting him know about Jane and tells Karl they'll be home ASAP.
The Flametree Restaurant
Mishti finishes her tea and asks Steph if she can book a euphoria package for her and Leo tonight. Steph tells her it's a bit short notice, but Mishti explains she wants to make Leo feel special because she's been spending all her time with Monique lately. Steph says she'll see what she can do.
At another table, Elly has explained the whole Liam ordeal to Susan and says she nearly died when she found out he was Amy's ex. Elly asks Susan for advice, but keeps butting in whenever Susan tries to speak before eventually deciding to tell Amy the truth. Elly thanks a bemused Susan for her words of wisdom and says she wishes she didn't have as much fun with Liam as well as she did.
Elly is regaling Liam with the time she was stuck naked in the school's bathroom and had to wrap a school banner around herself for modesty. Liam says it's nice to have a good laugh and Elly agrees while they make googly eyes at each other.
Mishti tells Leo about their night of luxury ahead but notices that Leo doesn't seem too keen. Leo explains he's just got a business meeting that afternoon he hasn't prepared properly for, but he's happy to spend time with her. Mishti leaves just as PI John arrives. John tells Leo that he didn't find anything about Monique, but he did find some dirt on Mishti's dead fiancé Zander. He was allegedly "in the pocket of one of Sydney's largest drug gangs". Leo's shocked and wonders if the claims are true but John says where there's smoke there's fire.
Jane's resting on the couch with a blanket around her while Dipi and Shane thank Karl and say they'll take her to the hospital. The Rebecchis want to know why Jane was digging holes in their backyard. Jane comes clean and says she was looking for rare stamps that belong to her Nan that are worth "hundreds of thousands of dollars". Dipi can see she's distressed and says she can explain more later after she's been to the hospital.
The Flametree Restaurant
Liam sits with Elly and says he's surprised she messaged him. But Elly wants to ask if he knew she and Amy were friends before their date. Liam says he didn't and assures Elly he's changed as a person since the last time he was in town.
ELLY: Do you want to get back with Amy?
LIAM: No. And even if I did I'm fairly certain she wouldn't touch me with a ten-foot pole. But I do want a good relationship with her, because that'll mean having a good relationship with Jimmy and that's the whole reason I'm back here.
Liam adds that he'd love to see Elly again and promises he was going to tell her all about his past if they had a second date. Elly says she had a good time with him but she needs to tell Amy about them first before any decisions can be made.
Dipi and Shane have returned from the hospital and tell Karl that Jane will be discharged in the morning and how lucky she was he found her. The Rebecchis are glad she's OK but want to know more about the stamps. Dipi's also disappointed that Jane's kindness to them was apparently all an act just to snoop through their home. Karl says if he was in their situation he'd be out there looking for the stamps. "Isn't possession nine tenths of the law?" he muses. Shane and Dipi contemplate this.
The Flametree Retreat
Mishti and Leo have stayed overnight and she tries to coax Leo into staying for breakfast, but Leo says he's got a crazy schedule at work. He thanks her and gives her a kiss goodbye. Steph's surprised to see Mishti by herself and Mishti confesses that Leo felt distant all night. She thinks it has to do with Zander and how preoccupied she was with what would have been their wedding anniversary last week. Steph says that Leo might just need verbal reassurance that he's just as important to Mishti as Zander was.
Amy's happy to see Elly's friendly face after the morning she had with Jimmy. She says he's been acting really rude and surly with her because of Liam. Amy wants Jimmy to have a relationship again with Liam at some point but worries he hasn't changed. She doesn't want Jimmy to get hurt and has no idea what to do.
ELLY: You're an incredible mum with great instincts so you'll make the right decision. From the little bit I have seen, I really think he wants to make amends with you guys. Maybe it's time to practice a little bit of forgiveness? It's OK to forgive him, just like you did with Nick.
AMY: You're right. I did feel a pretty strong need to give him a chance. And I was right to in that instance.
ELLY: So you'll give him a go?
AMY: Yeah, I will. But as long as there are no surprises. That's the bit that I can't take. I'm sorry you had to walk into all of this; I haven't even asked you why you're here.
ELLY: I just wanted to see if you were OK.
AMY: Well I feel a lot better after seeing you so thank you.
Elly smiles at Amy but she's feeling pretty guilty about not confessing the truth.
Dipi and Shane fill Toadie in about Jane and Shane says he might look for the stamps himself, and that way they can use some of the cash to fix their backyard. Toadie puts his lawyer cap on, though, and says possession is a very legally grey area.
SHANE: It's not finders keepers?
TOADIE: No, to own the stamps you'd have to prove that Nell Mangel had abandoned them. But with Jane actively looking for them she's got a strong claim.
SHANE: Even though she lied and trespassed and damaged our property?
TOADIE: Technically you invited her over so like I said, it's a grey area.
Over at a table, Leo has asked Mark to meet with him so he can get a copper's POV on the whole Zander being corrupt thing and Monique trying to blackmail him. Mark has to wonder if Leo is thinking Mishti may have been bent as well, but Leo says Mishti's as straight as they come. Mark advises Leo to have the whole story fact-checked before he confronts Mishti with anything.
Elly meets Liam outside and says she just wanted to pay him the courtesy of saying goodbye in person. Liam's stunned but Elly says she can't risk her friendship with Amy, "it's too important to me." Liam asks if Elly told her the truth but Elly says it'll be easier for everyone if they pretend nothing happened. Liam says he's disappointed because he really clicked with Elly, but he understands.
At the end of the date, Liam asks Elly if she'd like to have dinner with him sometime and she happily agrees. They lean in a bit hesitantly before deciding to kiss one another on the cheek. Elly says, "to be continued" as they smile at one another.
Mishti catches up with Leo and apologises if things have been strained lately because of all the Zander stuff. She says she organised the retreat night to prove that even though Zander will always be a part of her, Leo's her future. Leo smiles and says he understands, but looks wary when Mishti gets a phone call from Monique.
Dipi tells Shane that they should seriously consider reporting Jane to the police for property damage. On cue, Jane walks in looking quite contrite and asks for a moment of their time to try and explain herself.
JANE: I have looked after my Nan for most of my life. But she has got to a point now where she needs to go into proper care, and care costs money, which is something we don't have enough of. She told me about these stamps from the 60s that my grandfather used to collect.
DIPI: If they were so valuable, why didn't she take them with her when she moved to the UK?
JANE: Well she didn't know the true value of them at the time.
SHANE: But she thought they were valuable enough to hide them?
JANE: (smiling) My Nan could be quite eccentric. She'd hide all sorts of things. Anyway, long after my Uncle Joe sold the house, she read an article in the newspaper and realised that they were worth a fortune.
SHANE: And so that's why you came here.
JANE: Yes. I thought if I could find them it would solve all of our problems.
DIPI: But Jane, if you had come to us with this in the first place we would have let you look.
JANE: Yes I realise that now. My Nan made me promise that I would not tell anyone. She said that people are generally greedy and that they would want to keep the stamps for themselves. I've gone about this all so wrong and I am so desperately sorry. I will find a way to repay you for all the damage I've caused. I'm just thankful that you've taken the time to hear me out; most people would not be that generous.
Jane starts to walk out, but Shane and Dipi share a look with each other before Shane calls her to come back. The Rebecchis offer to help her look for the stamps and say if they find them then she'll have a way to pay for the damages and put her Nan into care. Jane's overwhelmed and doesn't know how to thank them properly.
John the PI is back to see Leo after getting an unexpected breakthrough in his investigation. But Leo says he's decided that he doesn't want to know anything else and tells John his services are no longer required.
JOHN: But there's dirt here, serious dirt. Don't you want to hear it?
LEO: Zander's dead and it's in the past. What's the point of dragging it up?
John says it's Leo's call but he wants to be paid in full for what he found. He also tells Leo for what it's worth, he's making a massive mistake not finding out what Zander's done. Leo looks thrown by this.
