Harold's Café
Toadie and Susan are talking about Izzy. Susan admits that she agreed for Dipi to spy on Izzy during her 'business meeting' with Karl.
TOADIE: Mummy Susan!
SUSAN: I know - I know! I'm not proud of it. But these are the measures I'm resorting to!
TOADIE: Do you trust Karl?
SUSAN: ... ... Yes. Yes, I do! Isabelle - no.
Toadie advises that if Susan makes sure her relationship with Karl is rock-solid and that Izzy knows it, she won't get the chance to undermine Susan.
No 28
Susan strikes a conciliatory tone with Karl in the greenhouse, guessing that he's been avoiding her a bit. She says she doesn't want tension between them; Karl doesn't either.
SUSAN: I shouldn't make assumptions about Isabelle's interest in the hospital.
KARL: I can't blame you for being wary.
SUSAN: There's just so much history there, you know? And she pushes my buttons.
KARL: I understand. But she's here. The hospital wing's going ahead. Can you find a way to be alright with it?
SUSAN: I will do my best to give her the benefit of the doubt.
To this end, Susan wants to invite Izzy and Holly over for dinner!
SUSAN: We can fire up the barbie - you can show off your tropical fruit!
Karl says it would be a chance to find out what Izzy's future plans are, and agrees to the dinner - but neglects to tell Susan about Izzy's suggestion that she may stay in Erinsborough full-time...
Fitzgerald Motors
Mark and Ben are perplexed to find a battered old car waiting for them outside the garage. There's a note on the windscreen, which reads, 'to Ben, from Uncle Kirky'. Excitedly, Ben realises that his uncle back in Oakey has given him the car for him to fix up.
Erinsborough Backpackers
Rafael is asleep on his bunk, and begins to have the dream about being on fire again. He sits up suddenly, yelling out. Leo overhears from reception, and asks if Rafael is okay. He replies that he must be still jetlagged, and rushes out.
Robinson Heights
Amy is updating Paul on progress at the construction site. Amy reels off a list of problems, and Paul reveals he knew about them - he was just testing Amy to see if she'd pick up on them. Amy admits that she's feeling good about her new role, but adds that it's early days. Paul says that having Amy and Leo involved in his business is everything he could wish for.
PAUL: And once David's place in the New Hospital Wing™ is secured, I'm gonna be the happiest man in the world.
They go off to look at one of the houses under construction, unaware that Rafael is lurking outside the site, and has been taking pictures of them. He shakes his head angrily.
Harold's Café
Ben asks Toadie about the old '79 Kingswood that his uncle left for him. Toadie explains that the car was Ben's dad Drew's, which he bought before moving to Erinsborough intending to fix up, but never did. Toadie explains that Stu Parker told Uncle Kirky how much Ben had been asking about Drew on Stu's visit, and Uncle Kirky thought Ben would like to work on the car.
BEN: Yeah, I would. Knowing it was my dad's.
Ben says it's a big job and that he might need Mark's help, but that he's not in the best frame of mind at the moment...

Karl and Susan welcome Izzy and Holly for dinner. Izzy has brought Susan some perfume as a gift, which she accepts with a rictus smile! Izzy explains it's her favourite, and that she was wearing it when she first met her late husband, Clint.
IZZY: He caught a whiff of me walking past (...) He said it was like a summer breeze rolling off the Mediterranean, mixed with spices of the Orient!
She's also brought a posh bottle of wine for Karl, since it's a 'special occasion'. Susan doesn't know what she means, and Izzy realises she's put her foot in it - Karl hasn't told Susan yet about Izzy's plans to potentially move to Erinsborough permanently. Susan drops a wine glass in slow-motion, and makes little attempt to disguise her horror!
Shortly afterwards, Karl and Susan are clearing up the glass. Susan quietly berates Karl for not having told her about Izzy's plans, while Izzy and Holly sit awkwardly on the sofa. Susan and Karl rejoin them; Izzy says that, since Holly's first day at school went so well, she's considering the move as a serious prospect. Again, Susan doesn't hide her disappointment very well.
IZZY: I thought you'd love the idea of having Holly around more permanently?
SUSAN: Oh, yes, of course - Holly, you know how we feel about you (...) We would never say no to spending more time with you.
IZZY: Meaning you're happy to have her here, but not me!
KARL: No, Susan didn't say that!
IZZY: She didn't need to. Look, it's just an idea - I'm still considering it. But if it's gonna cause an issue then we can just stop talking about it right now.
SUSAN: Well, no need to make any snap decisions.
KARL: (...) We can talk about the future later. Right, Susan?
SUSAN: Yeah. In the meantime, let's see about your meat!
She heads outside to the barbecue, angrily shaking her meat tenderiser! Karl follows sheepishly.
Lassiter's Complex
Leo is talking to Amy and David - he's feeling bad for getting Steph into trouble by reporting the vandalism at the backpackers', meaning her Fiji visa could be cancelled. Amy says she's going to go and see Steph later to cheer her up. Rafael watches them conspicuously from nearby, and David smiles at him, explaining to Amy and Leo that they bumped into each other the other day.
Leo recognises Rafael from the backpackers', and says he's detecting a vibe between him and David. Leo encourages David to go and say hi; but Amy points out that they don't even know if Rafael is gay, and that David is still heartbroken over Aaron.
LEO: Exactly! That's why this is the perfect time!
David awkwardly takes Leo's advice, and goes over to talk to Rafael, who looks surprised at the approach. They exchange names, and from there it all goes downhill...
DAVID: So - you're British! I love British. I mean, I love the country. I love Britain! Great Britain!
RAFAEL: I'm sorry. I've got to get to work.
He walks off, leaving David looking awkward.
The Waterhole
Toadie finds Steph playing pool, and breaks some bad news to her - the Fijian government has revoked her visa after the vandalism at the backpackers', so she won't be able to go and see Charlie. Steph is gutted.
STEPH: I want to see My Boy™. I can't take this. I need Charlie and Adam in my life!
Toadie tells her not to lose hope; and that in the meantime, he has something that will help her take her mind off things. Just like a real-life conversation, they leave to pursue this idea without Toadie explaining any further!
Meanwhile, at the bar, Sheila is talking to Paul.
SHEILA: How's Amy going at Robinson Heist?
PAUL: *Heights*. Can't think of anybody I'd rather have in charge, actually.
SHEILA: A lot to take on though, isn't it? Especially with you breathing down her neck!
PAUL: Why don't you just get back to work, eh?
Paul walks off, as Rafael comes out of the office. He asks who Sheila was talking to.
SHEILA: Paul Robinson - or as I like to call him, Moneybags. Some people call him Scumbag!
RAFAEL: Really?
SHEILA: Yeah. You shouldn't, because he almost owns Lassiter's - which means he owns us.
RAFAEL: So he doesn't have a good reputation?
SHEILA: Oh, the worst. He is trying to boost that reputation with this new Development™. But I mean, who names a suburb after themselves?
Sheila adds that Paul is "the only bloke I know who can get out of jail richer than when he went in". Rafael looks intrigued...

In the garden, Susan is angrily waving the meat tenderiser around as she moans to Karl about Izzy's bombshell that she might be moving to town permanently.
SUSAN: From the second her heels hit the tarmac, it's been one surprise after another!
Karl apologises for not giving Susan the heads-up, and she almost hits him with the tenderiser, agreeing that yes, he should have!
KARL: Maybe we should stop waving this around!
He says that regardless of Izzy, it would be great to have Holly in Erinsborough full-time. Susan agrees, but adds that...
SUSAN: Isabelle's right. I do not want her as part of the deal! Oh, she's done it again - I am the bad guy; I am the one stopping you spending time with your daughter!
KARL: No, I don't think like that. Look, maybe we're jumping the gun here. Let's just see what comes to pass (...) Darling, I love you!
SUSAN (angrily): Well, I love you too!!
KARL: So, I'm never going to repeat the mistakes of the past! Is that what's playing on your mind?
Susan admits that maybe it is, on some level.
SUSAN: All I know is that whenever Isabelle is around, I lose faith in you. Especially when I see how she manipulates you so easily!
KARL: I don't think that Izzy has any agendas. But even if she does, nothing's ever, ever going to happen because I love you. You are the only woman in the world for me.
They kiss, as Susan looks only somewhat reassured.

Paige is trying to act like everything's normal between her and Mark by trying to arrange plans for the evening, but it's clear he's not as enthusiastic as he could be. Toadie and Steph turn up, making things even more awkward as Steph avoids eye-contact with Paige. They've come to see Ben; and Mark calls out for him, before awkwardly leaving with Paige.
Toadie explains to Ben that he's brought Steph along to help him work on Drew's old car, to remind herself 'what a legend' she is! Steph isn't keen at first - but Toadie persuades her to stay, saying that Mark and Paige have gone, and that Ben could really use her help.

The Kennedys and Hoylands are finishing up their meal, and tension lingers in the air. Izzy butters up Karl by complimenting his cooking skills, then asks to talk again about their potential move to Erinsborough.
IZZY: Is it an insurmountable problem, the idea of me moving back here again?
SUSAN: Can I be honest?
IZZY: Well, after everything we've been through, it'd be a tragedy if you weren't.
SUSAN: Ever since you got here, I feel like I've been playing catch-up. It's been one thing after the other, and I'm just wondering what's gonna be next.
IZZY: Can I be honest? There's a reason for that. I didn't want to say anything in the beginning because I knew you'd judge me.
HOLLY: Mum!
IZZY: Holly, this needs to be said. You'd call me a gold-digger for marrying Clint; and you would say I only moved back here to come between you and Karl.
SUSAN: Well, those thoughts did cross my mind, yes.
IZZY: I'm happy for you both - and I don't want to be at loggerheads. I want us to be a family, and we are one, whether we like it or not.
SUSAN: I agree.
IZZY: So is there a chance that we could put the past behind us, Susan? Because if we move back - and I'm still saying if - then we're gonna be seeing a lot more of each other. Then, who knows - perhaps one day we might even be friends.
There's a long, awkward silence.
SUSAN (unenthusiastic): We can try.
Izzy looks thrilled, but Holly looks less convinced!
The Waterhole
Rafael is asking Sheila more about Paul, claiming he wants to stay on his toes in case he comes again. Sheila tells Rafael not to worry - Paul doesn't concern himself with the little people! Rafael says he put Lassiter's into Google online, and found out about Paul's jailing for the 2016 hotel explosion. Sheila says Paul 'got off', failing to explain that the real culprit was later apprehended.
RAFAEL: And he wasn't in the wrong?
SHEILA: There was some skulduggery there. It's a long story.
As Rafael gets back to work collecting glasses, David checks him out, much to Leo's amusement. Amy tells Leo to leave David alone, but Leo thinks he should make another move, especially after Rafael gives David what Leo considers is 'definitely a look'. Reluctantly, David approaches Rafael for the second time - and he looks just as surprised as before!
DAVID: Hey - me again!
RAFAEL: ...
DAVID: So, I thought to myself, 'why just annoy him when he's reading the newspaper, when I can annoy him at work too?'
RAFAEL: ...
DAVID: Sorry. That was supposed to be a joke. I'm not very good at this - but would it be weird for me to ask if you want to go for a drink while you're at work? I mean, not *while* you're at work, obviously, but - we could have a drink here, later - right?
RAFAEL: Err... yeah. Yeah, a drink sounds good.
David smiles as Rafael walks away. Leo looks pleased in the background.

Susan is staring at the painting of Malcolm, Libby and Billy, and looking thoughtful. Karl joins her on the sofa.
KARL: Thank you.
SUSAN: You're the one who cleaned the barbecue!
KARL: You know what I mean.
SUSAN: Mm. You know, in a way, it's been easier for me. We both got to watch Mal and Billy and Libby grow up. But you haven't really had that with Holly, have you?
KARL: No. It'd be good to change that.
SUSAN: Just as long as we both keep our eyes open with Isabelle. That's all I'm asking.
KARL: Yeah. Sure.
But Susan still looks worried.
The Waterhole
David and Rafael are having a drink as arranged. David says he always wanted to be a doctor, and explains how he and Leo recently found their real dad (without saying Paul's name)
DAVID: Finding him has been the best thing that could've ever happened to me. Made me realise how important family can be. Sorry - I tend to rabbit on when I'm nervous.
RAFAEL: I'm the opposite.
DAVID: So, we've established you're from the UK?
RAFAEL: Born there. Spent a lot of time in South America. My mum was from there. She... died when I was ten.
DAVID: I'm so sorry.
RAFAEL: It was a long time ago.
DAVID: You loved her a lot, though. I can tell.
RAFAEL: She was everything to me. I remember the way she looked - she way she smiled. The way she laughed.
Rafael goes to buy them more drinks, and gets talking to Sheila again at the bar.
SHEILA: Small world, isn't it? (...) You were just talking to me about Moneybags, and now you've been chatting to his son!
Rafael looks shocked.
Fitzgerald Motors
Steph and Ben are working on the car. She says it's a surreal experience for her, working on Drew's car with his son.
BEN: I wish we got the opportunity to all work together.
Steph recalls a troublesome time with a car dashboard that she and Drew once had, saying the problem with a car is often what you least expect. She asks Ben to try the ignition - and sure enough, the car starts. They celebrate.
STEPH: Your dad would be proud of you!
The Waterhole
Rafael has retrieved his jacket from the office, and heads towards the door. David is surprised as they were meant to have another drink.
RAFAEL: I have to go.
DAVID: Sorry. Talking about my job - you were probably bored out of your brain.
RAFAEL: This was a bad idea.
DAVID: Is something wrong? I thought things were going well.
RAFAEL: Just stay away from me, okay?!
He walks out, leaving David looking confused.
