Previously
- Aaron walking away after David proposed.
- David finding out about Paris.
- Aaron trying to explain himself to David.
- David calling things off with Aaron.
- Piper doing a positive vlog to help Tyler.
- Someone posting up a previous Piper video which doesn't show Tyler in a good light.
- Toadie confirming that the video has made Tyler's case much worse.
Number 24
Tyler is reading the many online comments and he's naturally not happy at what is being said about himself and a tearful Piper pleads with him to stop reading. She tries to justify her actions, but he points out they aren't watching her 'nice' video.
PIPER: I was trying to help.
TYLER: But you didn't think it through, did you?!
She tries to say that she did and that she ran the idea past others too, including staying away from mentioning the trial as Toadie advised. He still isn't happy, and she points out that the video was already out there and Toadie says it can't be used in court either. She tries to reassure him that by tomorrow it will be old news.
TYLER: Can't you see how serious this is?! Any chance of me being found not guilty of murder is screwed. I'm going to jail for a long time.
Number 30
Toadie is rather excited at Nell starting school tomorrow and wants to ensure her name is labelled on everything... that is if he can find the labelling machine! Nell looks rather cute in her school uniform as she enters the livingroom although Sonya wished she'd have left wearing it until tomorrow!
Before Nell arrived, Sonya told Toadie that she'd taken a pregnancy test and it was negative. Neither are too despondent as they knew it could take a while.
Number 22
Piper is in floods of tears as Terese makes her way downstairs to the livingroom. "Tyler hates me," she greets her mum with and wonders if she's now helped Tyler be convicted of murder. Terese tries to reassure Piper that won't happen, anyone will see that the article is "a ridiculous beat up," and the situation Tyler is in isn't her fault. Piper thinks she has made things worse and Terese initially struggles to reply although eventually says that they will "fix it" but doesn't seem to have an answer on how that can be achieved.
The Waterhole
After exchanging some polite talk, David tells Rory that he has broken up with Aaron. "That sucks," is his reply and asks if he is okay. "I'm fine," David replies and then can't get out of the bar quick enough, but Rory pulls him back to comment that he feels terrible if it happened because of him. "It was complicated," is David's reply back.
Harold's café
Aaron is feeling down about it too as he talks to Elly. In turn, she wishes her advice had been better, but Aaron is quick to say it was all down to him and really did think that David was "the one."
The Waterhole
Rory goes with the sympathy talk to David, by empathising with him on the break-up of your first true love. David seems somewhat surprised that Aaron told him that he was his first.
Harold's café
Elly is similarly going with the sympathy talk too and urges Aaron not to give up on David.
The Waterhole
Rory though is now playing mind games with David by telling him that it "must have been hard coming out at your age," although does add in that David should be "proud of yourself." He then continues by saying that they are both lucky to have someone like Aaron supporting them while coming out.
Harold's café
Elly reinforces it to Aaron that he has to make David talk to him, so that he can show David how important he is to himself.
ELLY: Do something to prove to him that he's the one.
Number 30
The hunt for the label machine is paused when Sonya receives a call from her sister Jade - but whatever is said in the call, Sonya looks shocked.
Ramsay Street
Toadie rushes outside to see his wife. She explains that she didn't want to talk in front of Nell and tells Toadie what was said in the call - Zoe's cancer is back, and a bone marrow transport isn't going to help this time. We hear that Walter has relapsed too and is back drinking, so Jade has asked if Sonya can come over to California for a month or two to help out. Toadie is all for his wife going, even if it means leaving that night so she can be there in time for Zoe starting her intensive chemo. However, it's her that doesn't want to go because that would mean missing Nell's first day at school, just like Callum's, and she doesn't want to let her daughter down. While reassuring that he will support her decision, he points out that Zoe needs her more than they do just now.
Terese's office
Both Terese and Toadie are trying to persuade Tim to pull the story about Tyler but despite their protestations, he is unrepentant, the story stays.
Lassiters Complex
David is making his way through the complex when Aaron brings him, and everyone else to a halt. Dressed in the cupid outfit, Aaron starts telling everyone his innermost secrets as a way to win David back. This includes his childhood nickname (chunky monkey), lying that the dog ate his brothers fish (rather than the fact it went down the toilet) after it died of starvation (because he forgot to feed it), that he had pec implants done (and then removed), dating someone to hang out with their Labradoodle and getting scabies from a manky spa in Bali!
The randomers, and Elly, seem captivated by these revelations, Rory didn't look too impressed when he briefly appears, but the one that matters most doesn't look at all moved. Now Aaron gets down from the new bridge to go stand in front of David to before continuing.
AARON: David, this one time, I didn't tell you that I saw my ex in Paris because I stupidly thought you'd take it the wrong way instead of just trusting the strength in our relationship.
David doesn't reply and instead simply walks away from Aaron and hiding out of sight, Rory looks very pleased with himself unlike the devastated Aaron.
Lassiters
Aaron quickly manages to get into the lift with David moments before it heads skywards. He again reiterates that he doesn't want to keep secrets from David, but his reply is that why did he not know any of what Aaron said?
AARON: You know the important stuff.
DAVID: We got together so fast and...
AARON: Yes, because it felt right.
DAVID: We said 'I love you' after a few days. What were we thinking?
AARON: David, I meant that when I said it.
DAVID: Or you felt obligated to.
The lift has arrived at the 8th floor, so David exits, and Aaron follows too but he wants time to figure stuff out... "to figure myself out." Aaron offers him time, but David wants time away from him although quickly adding that it isn't a break.
AARON: David, I don't know how many times I can say I'm sorry about Rory.
DAVID: It's not even about Rory anymore. I get why you never truly got over him because I don't know if I'll ever get over you. But that doesn't mean we belong together.
Terese's office
Tim is back again to see Terese and this time she's got an offer to put to him to drop the Tyler story - the offer of a bigger story that will double his sales and have the world pouring over his website.
TIM: What are you offering?
Harold's café
Piper can't believe what her mum has just told her - that Tim is pulling the story. We hear what the deal she made for that to happen - that Piper gives the newspaper an exclusive interview immediately after the trial.
PIPER: Right, so you negotiated to exploit me?
"No," is Terese's immediate reply, her mindset was to try and keep control of the story and to get Tim off Tyler's back. It's a 'no deal' from Piper though, so Terese points out that if the trial goes well, it will give her "mainstream media access to tell the world who Tyler really is."
PIPER: But what if it doesn't?
TERESE: Well then, it's the reality you'll have to deal with. Listen, I will do anything to protect you.
PIPER: Do you trust Tim?
TERESE: Not as far as I can throw him, but this is Tyler's only chance at a fair trial.
Somewhat reluctantly, Piper agrees to the deal her mum made.
Meanwhile at the counter, Toadie has told Steph about Sonya and her sister and she too is of the opinion that she needs to head to California. Steph gets why Sonya doesn't want to go, so asks if there is any reason why Nell can't go with her mum, and no, starting primary school isn't a big enough excuse! "Its only a month," Steph points out and having her there, might be a benefit to Zoe and the family.
Number 30
Toadie is back to tell Sonya of Steph's plan, and this time its Toadie convincing Sonya that it's a great move as Nell will be with her and she will also see her start school when she begins next term.
TOADIE: There's nothing stopping you. Zoe needs you and so does your dad.
Toad adds that he of course will miss her, but it's only a few weeks she will be away. Sonya is almost won over although she is thinking practicalities - what happens at the nursery (staff wise) but Toadie has a plan.
Sonya's nursery
And that plan is asking Piper to work there, who is more than delighted to accept the job offer.
Lassiters Complex
Tyler sits waiting for Piper (she text asking to meet) but before they get a chance to talk, Aaron interrupts with news of Louise's trial - she got 2 years but could be out after a year with good behaviour. They can't believe it and Aaron explains that she pleaded guilty to criminal neglect and her lawyer convinced the jury that Hamish was to blame for Russell's death. "What happens now?" asks Piper and Aaron replies that Louise will be taken back to Melbourne for the kidnapping trial.
Tyler asks after his brother and Aaron replies "ropeable" because he sees it as justice not being done, just like the pair of them. Piper offers them some good news and tells them about the deal her mum did with Tim. She thinks it's going to "put a lid on things", but it appears its perhaps too late as at the other side of the passage way, a Granny out with her grandkids suddenly decides to move on after spotting Tyler.
TYLER: I'm not a threat to children.
Aaron and Piper are quick to reassure Tyler that the woman is a crackpot and she's got no idea what she is talking about. Tyler fears that what is out in the public domain already is going to follow him around forever and when Piper pleads for time, he points out that's something he hasn't got.
TYLER: Don't you get it? You've tried to help me, but you've made everything worse, nothing's going to change that.
Aaron tries to intervene to get him to calm down, but Tyler wants space to think and away from Piper, so walks off.
Ramsay Street
Sheila helps put the bags into boot as Toadie spends a final few minutes with his daughter and wife before she drives them to the airport (he's a meeting with Tyler's barrister). While Sheila gets Nell into the car, Sonya is glad to have the goodbye in Ramsay Street compared to the airport. "I'll see you when I see you," and a few "I love you" are her parting words before kissing Toadie and getting into Sheila's car.
Lassiters Complex
Rory brings Aaron a beer and joins him on the sofa outside the hotel. Joining the beer is an apology and a one-way chat - he knows from David that they've broken up and adds that David is gutted. Rory also adds that he knows breakups hurt but Aaron won't keep feeling like he currently does. "Thanks," Aaron replies but adds that he deserves everything he got. "No, you don't, no one does," Rory states before wanting to accept responsibility for what happened but Aaron is quick to stop him - it was him not being honest with David. Rory thinks his gesture earlier was "amazing and heart-breaking, raw".
AARON: I think I've lost David for good.
Rory, reaches over and takes Aarons hand within his own and points out that you're allowed to make one mistake... and then leans in and kisses Aaron!
Unmissable drama
- Paul confident Amy will say yes.
- Paul introducing Amy to Robinson Heights.
- Sheila worried everything is passing her by.
- Rory asking if Aaron has told David.
- Amy giving Aaron a serve.
- Rory meeting someone he seems to know at the backpackers.
