No 30
Toadie, Mark and Sonya process Dee's latest bombshell about her sister Cecile being dead.
TOADIE: Is it possible that you're confused? It's been a big couple of days.
DEE: No. I meant what I said. Cecile died in Tasmania about a year ago, and it was my fault... When I remembered her, I tried to make contact. But she was just impossible to track down... She was off the grid - in India or something. I looked for her for a while, but the real world was just too hard. I'd just found out my parents were dead, and saw you with Sindi. And then, one day, I found her online. She'd come back to Tasmania about a year ago. I looked up where she worked, and I got her number. And I called her. She was so quiet. I'm a nurse - I should've known that she was in shock, that she was struggling. But I just kept pushing. So I organised a plane to get down to Tasmania the next day, and we organised a place to meet. But she didn't show up. I found out afterwards that a car had knocked her off her bike. She'd been killed coming to see me.
MARK: So it was an accident?
DEE: No! She was in shock! It wasn't an accident - she was distracted. I'm the reason that she died, and I will put that in an official statement.
MARK: I don't think that's necessary.
Dee breaks into sobs of tears.
DEE: No, I need to pay for what I did! She was my sister.
Toadie puts a comforting hand on her shoulder.
Harold's Store
Susan, Elly and Paul are discussing Dee's return from the dead. Susan remarks that she does seem different, but says it could be the brain injury at play. She also mentions that Dee doesn't remember Elly, but that Karl thinks that's normal given the injury she's had. Elly suspects It might not be a good idea to go and see Dee in that case - but Susan thinks it might help her memory.
Paul wonders how Dee's return will affect Sonya and Toadie, as well as Steph.
PAUL: I may never have met the girl, but a blast from the past like that - there's bound to be fallout. Trust me, I know.
The Waterhole
Steph has a bottle of champagne on ice and is waiting for Mark, for their engagement lunch. Victoria Lamb is sitting at a table nearby, and makes eye contact. She asks if Steph's on a 'hot date', and Steph confirms she's waiting for Mark. Victoria comes over and asks after the surrogacy; Steph says it's pretty good but that there's a lot happening at present. It seems Mark is running late.
VICTORIA: Let me guess - nothing beats police work? If I had a dollar for every celebration Ellen put off for work reasons, I'd probably be poolside in some luxury Tuscan villa right about now.
Victoria gets a text - her own date has just cancelled. It was an online thing, and Steph remarks that she'd never dare to do online dating.
VICTORIA: Yeah, well, you're gorgeous - you wouldn't need to.
Steph laughs awkwardly. Victoria invites herself to join Steph until Mark arrives, and Steph agrees - but looks a bit uncomfortable.
Harold's Café
Lauren is talking to Amy and Jack; she's donating some food for the Rec Centre. Ned comes in, and Lauren asks him if he'll be home for dinner. He suggests they light up the barbie for dinner and cook some fish and prawns. Lauren says that's a great idea, but says (rather too loudly) that Paige should probably pass on the prawns.
AMY: Why, is she pregnant or something?
LAUREN and NED: ...
AMY: Oh, wow, I'm so sorry. I had no idea.
Jack, who is still nearby, overhears and looks very worried. Amy looks worried too.
Erinsborough Backpackers
Amy turns up to find Leo feeding Warnie the wombat.
AMY: What's this, practice?
LEO: Amy, lovely to see you. Care to explain what you're on about?
AMY: I know Paige is pregnant.
LEO: Excuse me?
AMY: I'm guessing you're the father?
Leo says he knew nothing about it, insisting that nothing happened between him and Paige. But Amy makes it clear she doesn't believe him.
AMY: Come on. Who else could be the father?
She walks off.
Church
Jack is in confession, presumably talking to another priest.
JACK: Forgive me, Father, for I have sinned. Today I found out that Paige is pregnant. I've previously confessed my feelings for her, and have found resolution in penance. But now I'm starting to feel something new. Of course, my deepest prayers are for the health of Paige and her child. But also I can't help but have this feeling of hope, that I might be the father. With Paige, I might have a family. But if this child is mine, then I would have to give up everything that I have worked for in the church.

Paige is chatting to David in the garden. She admits that Brad has suggested she should tell her baby's father the truth, but that she feels like Brad is judging her, and assuming she can't cope on her own. David says it can be tough; his own mum sacrificed a lot for him and Leo.
Amy shows up, explaining that she guessed about Paige's pregnancy from something Lauren said. She promises not to say anything, and offers her support, having been a single mum herself.
AMY: I'm guessing you won't get much support from Leo.
PAIGE: Leo?
AMY: Yeah. He's not exactly Mr Responsibility.
DAVID: I think you've got your wires crossed.
PAIGE: Leo's not the father!
AMY: Oh! But, you and him, I thought...
PAIGE: No! No, Amy. I think you've got this all wrong. We had a tiny little Momenttm, but that's all.
AMY: So you didn't...?
PAIGE: No. Definitely not.
AMY: Who's...?
PAIGE: Please don't ask.
Amy looks super-awkward, but reiterates her offer of support. Paige says she can help - by telling her how she guessed about the pregnancy, and who else knows.
No 30
Dee is still with Toadie, and still very emotional.
DEE: I'm not crazy, getting Mark to look into Cecile's death. I know you think I am, but I'm not. I'm not, because I need to be held accountable for what I did!
TOADIE: Yes, I get it, alright? I felt the same way. About you.
DEE: What, you mean our accident? That's completely different! That was just a freak thing.
TOADIE: Was it? Or was it just that I wasn't watching the road? I've spent so many nights, just lying awake. Thinking that I could've changed everything completely.
Dee sits down and takes his hand.
DEE: It wasn't your fault.
TOADIE: Yeah. It's taken me a while to come to terms with that. And, clearly sometimes I don't. But, you know, I have to try. And that's the point - it's that, you've got to try too.
DEE: Okay. I'll try. For you.
Harold's Café
Mark is giving Sonya an update on the police probe into Dee's return. Everything checks out so far, he says; while they're still to confirm some parts of her story, such as the woman Emily, he says that all the facts Dee's given them are accurate.

MARK: Her parents died in an accident not long after she disappeared. Cecile was killed in Tassie in March last year. She came off her bike - nothing to do with Dee.
Mark says his colleagues think it's unlikely, but nonetheless conceivable, that Dee survived her own accident if she was found on shore.
SONYA: I was kind of hoping you'd make all this go away.
MARK: You mean, make Dee go away?
SONYA: Yes - no. I mean, it's a horrible thing to want, isn't it?
MARK: You don't have to pretend that this is easy for you.
SONYA: It's just, Jarrod and I have not been... Oh, God, I just wish I could be like Dee and disappear, Mark.
MARK: Son - Son, don't do that. I'd miss you too much.
Mark suggests they take a nice long drive, to help Sonya clear her head. She seems keen on this idea, and Mark gets his phone out to text Steph and let her know.
The Waterhole
Amy finds Leo at the bar, and presents him with a grovelling apology.
AMY: I'm sorry I didn't believe you about Paige.
LEO: Is that it? Do you know how wrong that was? What you did? What if it had been my baby? And I'd found out like that? You can't reject me, Amy, and then get upset if I start seeing someone else. It's either one way or the other. You're either with me, or you stay out of my life.
AMY: Okay. Umm, I won't bother you again.
Steph is still with Victoria. She gets a text from Mark, saying he has to cancel their lunch. It apparently doesn't mention Sonya, as Steph assumes it's a work thing that's come up.
STEPH: I could do with that Tuscan villa right about now myself!
Victoria suggests they open the champagne in Mark's absence.
STEPH: I guess it would be criminal not to, huh?
VICTORIA: Yeah. We don't want someone to call the cops on us.
Steph proposes a toast.
STEPH: To incredible women, who get stood up by their clueless partners.
VICTORIA: To women who deserve better.
No 30
Dee is still with Toadie. She's reading some old letters of theirs that he's kept. There's a knock on the door - Toadie assumes it's a courier with some legal documents he's asked for, but in fact it's Elly, with a cake-box. Not recognising Elly at all, Dee tries to sign for it!
ELLY: I'm Elly. Susan's niece.
DEE: ... Oh, of course you are! Sorry.
ELLY: See, I knew you'd remember!
DEE: You're Darcy's sister. Sorry, I forgot.
ELLY: Not unless there's some kind of family secret I don't know about. I'm his cousin.
DEE: ... Yes. I knew that. Sorry.
Toadie thanks Elly for the cake, but says he and Dee are in the middle of something. She says she'll leave them to it, and goes.
TOADIE: Is everything alright?
DEE: I'm terrible. I didn't even remember that girl.
TOADIE: It is fine.
DEE: No - I got it all wrong. I thought that she was Darcy's sister. But they're cousins - they're cousins! Of course they are! I don't know what's wrong with me! Toadie, how could I not remember her?
She seems very distressed, so Toadie hugs Dee comfortingly.
Somewhere
Sonya and Mark are parked up in the car, in the rain.
SONYA: I wonder if Jarrod's feelings for Dee were kind of like what I felt for Troy?
MARK: He was your first love, right?
SONYA: Yeah. I know he did some pretty messed-up things, and he was nothing like Dee. But I just loved him. I loved him fiercely, in spite of everything he did. It was just all-consuming.
MARK: Yeah, I remember feeling like that.
SONYA: With Kate?
Mark nods.
SONYA: See, your first love, it's a very special thing. And maybe that's just why I'm feeling the way I am. I just don't know how I'm supposed to compete with something like that.
MARK: Son - you don't need to compete. You're something much better. You're Toadie's great love.
SONYA: So, great trumps first, does it?
MARK: Definitely. You and Toadie, you've got your whole future ahead of you. He and Dee only have the past.
SONYA: You're pretty wonderful, Marky Mark.
MARK: Yeah, I kind of am, aren't I?
SONYA: No, I'm serious. I just wouldn't be coping with any of this if it wasn't for you.
MARK: Well, good, because I think it's kind of my job, seeing as though you're having my baby.
They hug.
MARK: You're pretty wonderful yourself, you know that?
The Waterhole
Steph and Victoria are polishing off the champagne. Steph seems pretty drunk! Victoria offers to buy another bottle, but they agree on a coffee instead as Steph has to work later.
VICTORIA: Actually, I just got a new coffee machine. So why don't you just come back to my place and we can try it?
Victoria has grabbed Steph's hand! Steph smiles awkwardly.
Lassiter's Complex
Mark finds Paige in the courtyard looking sorry for herself, and asks what's going on. She suggests he take a seat!
MARK: Right. Now I'm officially worried.
PAIGE: I'm pregnant.
MARK: Wow.
PAIGE: Yeah.
MARK: Sorry, I just wasn't expecting to hear that from a girl who wasn't ready for kids.
PAIGE: Believe me, I am just as shocked as you are. But I think I'm actually happy.
MARK: Yeah?
PAIGE: Yeah.
MARK: Well, in that case, congrats! That's great!
PAIGE: Really? Cos I know a huge part of us breaking up was because I wasn't ready for kids.
MARK: No, no. Things weren't right for us - I know that now. I'm really happy for you.
Mark says he didn't realise Paige was seeing anyone, but her silent reaction speaks volumes and he realises he's being insensitive. She declines to answer when he mentions the dad.
PAIGE: I've decided that I'm gonna do this alone. It's gonna save a lot of heartache in the long run.
MARK: Well, if anyone can raise a kid by themselves, it's you. You're going to be great at this.
PAIGE: Thank you.
Erinsborough Hospital
Leo is filling David in about Amy thinking he was the father of Paige's child.
DAVID: And now you're upset that she walked away?
LEO: Pretty much. It could've been worse, I guess. Can you imagine, though, if I was really having a baby?
DAVID: Paige dodged a bullet with you.
LEO: Yeah. Pity she didn't dodge someone else's.
David says Paige is happy to be pregnant, but Leo wonders if she's faking her coolness with it.
LEO: Is her baby daddy really that bad of a guy?
DAVID: She hasn't told me who he is. She hasn't told anyone, which is why I'm so worried. I think she should at least tell him... I know some men aren't cut out to be fathers.
LEO: Yeah. Like our dad.
DAVID: Yeah.
David looks thoughtful.
Lassiter's Complex
Jack sees Paige walking past and runs after her.
JACK: Hey. I heard you're pregnant.
PAIGE: Yeah. You and the rest of Erinsborough.
JACK: Is it mine? You need to tell me this.
PAIGE: It's not yours.
JACK: I thought so. I just wanted to make sure. Whose is it, then?
PAIGE: You have no right to ask me that!
JACK: Just... Okay, so there's no chance it's mine?
PAIGE: Jack, it's not yours. Bet that's a relief.
JACK: ...
PAIGE: Yeah. I thought as much.
She marches off. Jack looks upset.
Robinsons Motel
Mark has come to look for Steph, who jumps him outside one of the rooms. When he asks, she claims she had to drink the whole bottle of champagne by herself, not mentioning Victoria.
STEPH: Well, you know, one of us had to enjoy our engagement lunch, while the other was working all day.
Mark doesn't mention being out in the car with Sonya. Steph unbuttons his shirt, as Mark promises to make it up to her.
MARK: What are you doing?
STEPH: Just making it up to myself!
MARK: Now?
She starts kissing him, and they retreat into the motel room...
No 30
Toadie and Dee are going through some documentation. Sonya comes in, and Toadie explains to her in the kitchen that he's contacted the probate lawyer for the Bliss family will. It seems Dee may have a stake in their estate, so Toadie's helping her with her claim, so she can get back on her feet.
Sonya replies that that's very helpful of him, and announces she's going for a nap. But as she exits the room, she looks worried.
Erinsborough Hospital
An emotional Paige sees David coming out of the entrance, and rushes over to hug him.
DAVID: Woah, what's wrong?
PAIGE: I just ran into the father of the baby.
DAVID: Did you tell him?
PAIGE: No, but all the reasons I have for not telling him were just confirmed all over again.
DAVID: You're okay. You can just stick to the original plan.
PAIGE: Everyone's gonna keep asking me, and asking me. And worrying about me, and telling me that I'm doing the wrong thing -
DAVID: I have an idea. What if I were the father?
PAIGE: ...
