No 26
Sheila and Paul are in the garden, discussing Amy's imminent date with Leo. Neither are keen on the idea of her dating Leo, but Sheila opines that he's 'a far better specimen than that one in there' - referring to Brooke. Paul asks why.
SHEILA: She deserted her own child. It takes a very special kind of person to do that.
PAUL: Yeah, well, you know. Some situations are just more complicated than others.
SHEILA: There is nothing complicated about this. She shot through and let Xanthe fend for herself! You're a dodgy, conniving type -
PAUL: Oh, why don't you tell me what you really feel? (!)
SHEILA: I just want to know what you would do to make sure that Brooke's story checks out?
PAUL: What part of the story don't you believe?
SHEILA: All of it, 'Bags. Her intentions for Xanthe and Gary. Her mysterious other child. Spending time in Perth. Playing innocent about the whole Family Feud thing. Not to mention her business, selling high-end jewels. As if that is legitimate.
Paul tells Sheila her best option is to get proof of Brooke's dodginess before she starts throwing around accusations. He suggests she get some of Brooke's jewellery valued, to see if it's legit.
PAUL: I've got a contact in Eden Hills you can use.
SHEILA: Oh, is that where all your ex-wives take their wedding rings to be hocked?
PAUL: Ha-ha.
Xanthe appears, and announces that Amy is ready for her date. Sheila and Paul follow her back inside, where Amy appears in her ball-gown, having been made up by Xanthe and Brooke.
XANTHE: This is our best makeover yet!
AMY: Smoke and mirrors.
XANTHE: Do you feel amazing?
AMY: I actually feel a bit squished.
BROOKE: Oh, don't worry. You'll get used to that!
XANTHE: Yeah, beauty isn't meant to be easy!
AMY: Really? Cos something's pinching, and my trackie-dacks seem like a really good option right now.
Sheila has an idea to make Amy's outfit complete.
AMY: Some airbags for when I inevitably fall off these shoes?
SHEILA: No, some earrings like Brooke's - don't you think?
Brooke doesn't seem that keen on lending Amy any of her earrings, saying they're only samples. But Amy declines anyway, preventing Sheila from pushing Brooke any further. Amy announces she's driving the ute to her date.
SHEILA: Working the clutch in those heels, it's impossible!
So Paul offers to give her a lift instead.
The Waterhole
Elly comes in, and finds Leo all dressed up in a suit for his date with Amy. She lets slip that Amy was 'wildly uncomfortable' when she received the ball-gown from Leo, and tells him he's going about his courtship the wrong way. When Elly asks where Amy is, Leo says she's driving herself here.
LEO: She insisted - she's very independent. Probably just wants to go straight to work from my place in the morning, you know. You may as well give up - your five bucks is mine. In fact, I might just put my claim on it now.
Leo writes out a post-it note saying 'property of Leo' and puts it in the beer glass with the five-dollar bill that's the wager in their bet.
ELLY: You are so delusional, you know that? You've got no chance at all.
Leo gets a message from David, with a map indicating his location at the industrial estate - saying he needs his help urgently. Leo tells Elly he has to go and help David.
LEO: I know David - he doesn't cry wolf. If he says he needs me, he needs me.
Lassiter's Complex
Paul and Amy arrive in the ute. Paul tells Amy how beautiful she looks - too good for Leo, in his view. She gets a text from Leo, saying he's running late.
PAUL: Oh, there's an impressive start. Not.
Paul offers to keep Amy company while she waits, but she tells him not to worry and to go home.
AMY: I don't want the cool kids to see me being escorted by my father.
Eden Hills Industrial Estate
Leo arrives, and finds David. He explains there were only three viable Bradleys of the right age range in the area when their mum gave birth, and he's ruled out two of them - and come here to look for the third.
DAVID: His name's Bradley Satchwell. He's our only possible lead.
Leo notices David has blood on his shirt. David explains that Bradley freaked out and attacked him. He had a screwdriver in his pocket, and during the fracas it punctured Bradley's leg, hence the blood.
DAVID: The wound was pretty deep. I went to get some water to clean it up, but he took off.
David's worried that Bradley's leg could be haemorrhaging, and asks for Leo's help to find him.
LEO: The guy attacked you and then ran off. Can you take a hint?
DAVID: I didn't tell him who I was. I didn't tell him that he might be our dad!
LEO: We don't know that he is!
DAVID: He's the right age, he's the right name. I just know it's him.
Leo promises to help search for Bradley, but only for ten minutes. They head into the warehouse.

Sheila finds Brooke's handbag in the living room. She rifles through it and finds a jewellery box, with earrings inside. But Xanthe emerges and demands to know what Sheila's up to.
Sheila tells Xanthe the honest truth - she's trying to find out whether Brooke is using them.
SHEILA: She's let you down before, love. And I love you way too much to watch it happen again.
XANTHE: Mum loves me too, Gran. That's why she's here, because she missed me.
But Sheila points out that it's a strange coincidence Brooke turning up just after they won a cash prize on Family Feud. Xanthe says Brooke's only here because Xanthe called Jessie, her half-sister, to ask if she knew where she was. But Sheila doesn't look convinced about that, or about Brooke's story that she couldn't call or email Xanthe because she had dangerous people after her.
Xanthe doesn't take much convincing, and allows Sheila to go ahead with her plan of getting the earrings valued, to see if they're legit.
Eden Hills Industrial Estate
David and Leo are looking for Bradley Satchwell. Leo texts Amy to say he'll be there in fifteen minutes, and tells David he has to go in order to make his date. Leo wants David to leave with him, but when he refuses, Leo decides that he's staying too. They suddenly hear Bradley crying out in pain, and find him lying on the floor in agony.
DAVID: We've got to get you to a hospital.
BRADLEY: No.
DAVID: This is a serious wound!
BRADLEY: I don't care.
DAVID: Well I do.
BRADLEY: I'm not in the system.
DAVID: We'll work around it!
BRADLEY: Just leave me.
DAVID: No way. You could bleed to death.
Leo pulls David aside and whispers to him.
LEO: He can't be our dad!
DAVID: Who says?
LEO: Mum said he's a doctor. This guy's a bum.
DAVID: So?
LEO: Just call an ambulance, and let it go.
DAVID: What, so you'd be happy just leaving him here. Not knowing if he makes it?
Leo doesn't answer. David tells Bradley they can keep him out of the medical system, as he's a doctor and can take care of everything. He asks Leo to help carry Bradley, and he reluctantly agrees.
The Waterhole
Amy is at the bar alone, waiting for Leo. Steph turns up and seems impressed with Amy's new look!
STEPH: Ooh-la-la! You look smokin'!
Elly is playing pool in the background. Amy admits to Steph that she feels like 'an animal, caged at the zoo' in the tight dress.
STEPH: Best-looking animal I've ever seen!
Amy explains she's going on a date with Leo, and Steph is super-excited for her - though adds that it's 'not cool' that he's late. Elly comes over, and compliments Amy on the dress, but says she's not sure Leo is worth this much effort.
STEPH: Excuse me?
ELLY: Well, it's just - it's a bit much, isn't it? Him getting you to change your whole look.
AMY: It's one night. An excuse to do something different.
ELLY: I know. But you're great. And you and Leo - you're very different.
STEPH: Well, just because two people are different, doesn't mean they're not compatible.
ELLY: Yeah, I know. Just don't rush into anything, alright?
Once Elly's gone, Steph remarks that she's probably just jealous that someone else is getting male attention. But the seed of doubt has been sown, and Amy seems worried.

Brooke is showing Xanthe some of the gemstones from the jewellery she's selling. Sheila's suspicion has clearly rubbed off on Xanthe, and she questions Brooke about why she got into the jewellery business. Brooke says she just needed a new career.
XANTHE: Or is it just a variation of your old career?
BROOKE: What are you getting at, honey-bunch?
Sheila comes in, with the earrings she took to have valued. She gives them back to a surprised Brooke, and says that the expert confirmed they were legitimate - but adds that for all she knows, 'some bloke' could have given the earrings to Brooke. Apparently offended, Brooke suggests Sheila take all the jewellery to be valued - which appears to convince Sheila she's telling the truth.
BROOKE: Sheila, I'm making really good money with this. I don't need your money.
SHEILA: I'm sorry I went through your bag.
BROOKE: It's okay. I know you only did it out of concern for Xanthe.
XANTHE: And I'm sorry I didn't believe you.
BROOKE: Oh, honey-bunch! You don't have to be sorry for anything! I know it's gonna take time for you to trust me again. Can we just pretend this never happened?
Erinsborough Hospital
David is putting a dressing on Bradley's leg wound, while Leo assists. They're working hurriedly to avoid questions from the hospital staff.
BRADLEY: Who are you? What do you want from me?
DAVID: Nothing. I don't want anything from you. I just wanted to meet you.
BRADLEY: Why?
DAVID: ... I think ... I think you might be our father.
He shows Bradley a picture of their mother from his wallet. We don't see the image.
DAVID: This was taken about thirty years ago, which is when you would have known her.
BRADLEY: ... She went to school around here.
DAVID: Yeah. That's right. She said our dad was a doctor. Did you used to practise, maybe?
BRADLEY (laughing): Look, mate, do I look like a doctor?
DAVID: She was admitted here when she was pregnant. There was a memo circulated to the staff, to keep an eye out a boyfriend, with your name.
BRADLEY: What else did the memo say?
DAVID: It doesn't matter.
LEO: It said not to let you back into the hospital!
DAVID: Which I'm sure was just a misunderstanding, right?
But Bradley isn't saying any more. Feeling defeated, David goes to fetch him a bandage - and says Leo should go and meet Amy. But Leo doesn't want to leave David on his own. His phone's out of battery, so he borrows David's to go and call Amy.
The Waterhole
Paul comes in, and is annoyed to find Amy still waiting for Leo.
PAUL: Oh, how dare he?!
AMY: It's my own fault.
PAUL: No, it's not. Hey, he's the one who's over an hour late.
AMY: I knew this wasn't me. I should've gone with my gut.
PAUL: Or listened to your father. Hey, listen, it's his loss. As far as I'm concerned, he was punching way above his weight trying to date you, anyway.
Amy's phone rings - but when she sees it's David's number, she remarks that he's the last person she wants to talk to right now, and ignores the call. Paul offers to buy Amy dinner instead, but she says she'd rather go home and get the dress off.
Harold's Café
Sheila, Brooke and Xanthe are having a coffee together, and getting on much better after the earlier drama. Brooke says she and Xanthe have a lot of catching up to do. Xanthe suggests one way of spending time together - to throw a jewellery party at No 26 - but Brooke seems very hesitant at this idea.
BROOKE: I don't think Sheila wants us to do that.
SHEILA: Oh, I don't know. It could be a way to apologise for what I did.
Xanthe says the three of them would make a great team, adding that she's good at sales. But Brooke clearly doesn't want Xanthe involved in the business. She says that Xanthe can help put the party on, but to leave the sales side to her. Xanthe agrees, but Brooke is still looking a little worried.
No 26
Amy is back in her trackies by the time Leo shows up at the door.
AMY: Oh. It's you.
She has a go at him for leaving her high and dry. The only explanation he's managed to concoct is that 'some stuff came up', which naturally doesn't go down especially well.
AMY: If you'd changed your mind, you could've just been upfront with me.
LEO: Amy, it's not like that.
AMY: No. Instead, you left me hanging at The Waterhole in a ball-gown.
He says he tried to call her on David's phone, and begs her to let him make it up to her with more opera tickets, but she's not interested.
AMY: I should have gone with my gut and never given you a chance in the first place.
LEO: Amy, I really like you. Can we just try this again?
AMY: No. I think you like the chase more than you like me.
LEO: That's not true, come on.
She gives him the ball-gown back.
AMY: Goodnight, Leo.
The Waterhole
While picking up takeaway, Leo downplays his failures with Amy to Elly at the bar. She teasingly asks whether he wants to give up and concede the bet, but he's not ready to do that yet - pointing out that Amy was waiting for him for ages before she gave up and went home.
LEO: She obviously wants me.
But as Leo's leaving, Paul approaches and gives him a talking to.
PAUL: I know your type. Amy is my daughter; and if you mess with her, I'll mess with you.
Meanwhile, Brooke is showing Sheila some of her jewellery. Brooke says she doesn't want Sheila to feel railroaded into hosting the jewellery party - but Sheila insists it's no trouble, and points out that Xanthe will already be 'spruiking it'.
BROOKE: I've been meaning to say, Sheila - you've done a great job with Xanthe. I reckon if I'd had someone in my corner like you when I was a kid... I dunno, maybe I would've turned out better than I did.
SHEILA: Oh, stop.
Sheila goes to fetch Brooke a drink on the house. But while she's gone, Brooke gets a call on her mobile.
BROOKE: Don't worry - I'll get some sales soon... Now, will the stock be the same as last time?... Yeah, well, will it look as real as the samples? ... Okay, well, we won't have a problem, then.
She hangs up and looks around furtively.
Erinsborough Hospital
Leo has come back to the hospital to check up on David, who's been trying to call him. David explains that the night nurse has found out he hasn't registered Bradley as a patient.
DAVID: If I don't get some kind of ID from him soon, this could get very messy.
LEO: I told you this would happen.
DAVID: What was I supposed to do? He could have bled to death if I left him there.
LEO: You still think he's the one, don't you?
Leo suggests they try and get some details from Bradley - but they find him gone, and the room in a state of disarray.
LEO: Looks like you'll have to let this one go, bro. If he's our father, he doesn't want to be.
