Ben and Xanthe lead Sheila into the back garden, Xanthe's hands over her eyes - explaining that they have a surprise for her. Sheila's thrilled to see that all her gnomes are back - and are also newly painted! Kyle then emerges, and Sheila is thrilled to see him. There's a happy family reunion - until Gary arrives too, and Kyle looks less than thrilled.
GARY: G'day, mate!
KYLE: Yeah, I heard you were back.
GARY: Yeah. It's good to see you too.
Gary looks awkward as Sheila continues to hug Kyle.
Here be titles.
Sometime later, the four Cannings and Ben are sitting around the patio table. Kyle explains how he 'borrowed' Sheila's gnomes so he could repaint them for her; Sonya helped him figure out when no-one would be home.
SHEILA: How's Germany?
KYLE: Oh, yeah, you know. Interesting. Lots of castles.
SHEILA: And Georgia's well?
KYLE: ... Yeah, busy kicking goals at work. But yeah, she's good.
SHEILA: She's not hiding in the shed, is she?
KYLE: No chance. No, she's at a conference in Singapore. I tagged along for the free flight, then bought a cheap ticket home from there. You know I wouldn't miss your big six-oh.
XANTHE: How long are you staying for?
KYLE: Not long. I'll probably go to Frankston tomorrow, you know. Hang out with Honga. See Mum.
SHEILA: I don't think you can dodge Amy every visit, love.
KYLE: I'm not.
SHEILA: You need to clear the air with her.
KYLE: Oh, come on, Gran. I thought it'd be nice, just the three of us, have a nice family birthday dinner.
Gary looks awkward again.
KYLE: Sorry. I guess there's four of us now.
Kyle's surprised to learn that Xanthe still has her waitress job at Harold's.
XANTHE: I will have you know, my table service was called 'enjoyably precarious'!
Kyle's about to go and get changed, but Sheila informs him that Gary's in his room now, leading to more awkwardness. Gary offers to shift his stuff out and sleep on the sofa; and the others suggest sleeping in Amy or Jimmy's rooms; but Kyle says he'll take the couch.

Paul is talking to Madison in the back yard about her singing opportunity at Lassiter's On The Gold Coast™. He and Lucy both think highly of Lassiter's GC's entertainment programme, we learn, and Paul thinks they'd be morons not to take Madison on. Maddie, however, says it's a long shot.
PAUL: Oh, don't tell me you're still worried about this no-good ex of yours?
MADISON: When I got my cadetship at the Star, he told me I was in over my head. Like I wasn't good enough. And then we had a massive fight and we broke up.
PAUL: Well, good riddance, I say.
MADISON: But he is the sweetest, most caring guy I've ever met. Which is why our fight was so random. And we haven't made up since.
PAUL: So call him!
MADISON: He hasn't even responded to my last text.
Paul encourages her to track Logan down via his friends and make peace.
PAUL: And the next step, world domination.
Terese appears.
PAUL: Oh, and that's how you dress for it.
Terese looks displeased to see Paul.
PAUL: Madison invited me over, I hope you don't mind me being here.
TERESE: It's fine. I'm heading out anyway.
MADISON: On a date?
TERESE: ...
PAUL: Yeah, have fun, won't you?
TERESE: Stay away from my cat.
Terese leaves, and Paul asks Madison who her date is. Madison has no idea.

Sheila is telling Kyle about Xanthe's continued attempts to get her to change her mind about allowing her to go to the Gold Coast with Ben 'alone'.
KYLE: Isn't that Madison chick going?
SHEILA: Oh, well that doesn't fill me with any great confidence!
Sheila asks if Kyle could talk to Xanthe about it, as he'd never have been allowed to go at her age. Kyle remarks that Gary wasn't around and his mum Sharon just let him do whatever he wanted. Gary comes in, and it's awkward again - so Sheila exits to rearrange her gnomes, having ordered father and son to sit down and talk to one another.
KYLE: Subtle, Gran!
But they do as they're told. They have an awkward chat about Gary's job, and his pigeon. It's clear Kyle has been in regular contact with Sheila, but not Gary, since Gary moved in. Kyle is relieved to get a text from Toadie, asking to catch up - which is the perfect excuse to end the conversation. Kyle leaves, and Gary looks disappointed.
Power Street
Paige is sitting at The Bus Stop™, looking guiltily at a news article on her phone about her winning against Angelina, who is now 'fighting for life'. Jack turns up, to check on how she's doing.
PAIGE: How do you think? I'm a mess. I've never hurt anyone like that before. I don't know what I should do. I was thinking about going to the hospital and sitting with her, like I did with you, but I... I dunno.
Jack says he's headed to the hospital soon, and that Paige could come with him if she feels like it's the right thing to do.
JACK: Look, whatever you need - I'm here for you.
He offers his hand, and she takes it.

Kyle is having a beer with Toadie. He's looking forward to seeing Nell later, as we're reminded that he's her godfather.
TOADIE: Must be weird being back.
KYLE: Yeah. Yeah, it is.
TOADIE: What is Germany like?
KYLE: Oh, mate, lots of beer. There's lots of castles. I've taken up slap-dancing.
TOADIE: Right. And Georgia's doing okay?
KYLE: ... Yeah. Yeah, she's good. Same, you know - just busier.
TOADIE: Is everything alright with Georgia?
Kyle insists it is. Toadie asks if Kyle's caught up with Gary since he's been back.
KYLE: Oh, it's hard to miss him, now he's living at No 26, as some happy family now. I just had to get out of there. Mate, he hasn't been a real part of my life, or my family, since I was eight. And I know everyone's saying he's doing good. But every time I believed in him, he just let me down.
TOADIE: He is trying. He does want to be a good dad. I've been fishing with him a couple of times.
KYLE: What? What, are you two mates?
TOADIE: The way that I look at it is that he's a good bloke, who's just made a few bad decisions. And now he's trying really hard to make up for it. I mean, if you knew some of the stuff he's been doing, maybe you'd give him a go.
Erinsborough Hospital
Paige, Lauren and Jack are waiting for news. Karl emerges, with a crying woman, who we learn is Rena, Angelina's mother. She's not pleased to see Paige, and angrily tells Karl to tell Paige to leave. Jack apologises for to Paige for encouraging her to come, but she says none of this is his fault.

Sheila tells Gary that Xanthe is sending her texts, pestering her to let her go to the Gold Coast with Ben and Madison. Gary is all shirted up for his date with Terese, but isn't sure whether he should wait for Kyle to come back before he goes. Sheila tells him to go on the date and catch up with Kyle later. But at that moment, Kyle himself turns up.
Kyle suggests they all have a barbecue. Gary says his date can wait; he wants to make the most of the time Kyle's here. Kyle explains that Toadie has filled him in on how Gary's been looking out for Xanthe since he moved in, including over Cooper's assault. Gary says it's the least he could do. Sheila smiles as she senses a reconciliation on the cards.
The Waterhole
Terese is doing her make-up in preparation for Gary's arrival. Piper comes in, and wolf-whistles at seeing her mum all glammed up. She's just come in to collect some food, and isn't crashing Terese's date, she promises.
PIPER: Unless you need a wing-woman.
TERESE: You know what, I appreciate the humour. But this isn't mother-daughter territory.
PIPER: You're nervous!
TERESE: N-no - I can assure you, I-I'm not. I mean, this whole thing is absolutely, most definitely a mistake. I mean, there's no reason for me to be nervous.
PIPER: Excessive answer - definitely nervous.
Terese states that she doesn't expect Gary to sweep her off her feet, but adds that she would settle for some nice, adult conversation. Piper tells Terese to stop overthinking it and have fun - she deserves it.
PIPER: And Xanthe can be the maid of honour at your wedding. And I'll settle for bridesmaid.
TERESE: Piper...
PIPER: And I suggest Imogen to manage Sheila, the mother of the groom.
TERESE: Hey, you know what? Just go away!
Terese then gets a text from Gary, which reads, 'Rain check? Something's come up. Call you tomorrow.' She looks disappointed.
Erinsborough Hospital
Lauren goes over to talk to Rena, saying she's sorry for what she's going through - adding that Paige feels terrible about what's happened. Rena has calmed down a bit, but is still very emotional.
LAUREN: This is the sort of nightmare we have when we bring our kids into the world, isn't it?
RENA: You know, when you hold them for the first time - and they're so little. You never want anything bad to happen to them.
LAUREN: Even when they grow up, you still want to protect them. You want to stop them from getting hurt.
RENA: If only she'd listened to me, instead of that trainer.
Rena explains that Blake the trainer pushed Angelina into participating in the fight.
Later, Lauren goes to see Karl in his office. She asks if it's possible for him to access Angelina's prior medical files - and if he has, whether anything indicates that she already had a tumour. Karl insists he can't discuss a patient's history, but Lauren explains she's found out from Rena that Angelina went to a doctor under her sister's name. When the family found out, they hit the roof.
LAUREN: The mum thinks it's all to do with this new trainer. I mean, when they heard about the fight going ahead, they tried to put a stop to it. But Angelina blocked them, shut them out. I mean, if Paige had known about any of this, there's no way she would have gone through with the fight.
Karl is concerned by all this, and promises to look into it, to see what he can find out.

Madison is on the phone to her mother Charlene. Aaron comes in, and overhears Madison saying that there's 'no news' to report. Once she's finished the call, Aaron asks why Madison hasn't told her family about her big audition at Lassiter's On The Gold Coast™. Madison says she's keeping it quiet unless she actually gets the job. She confirms she's definitely doing the audition, though.
Madison adds that she asked Charlene to chase up Logan, and it turns out that he's left Brisbane. She presumes he's got the job in California that he's been chasing. Madison's still working out what she wants to sing for her audition; Aaron suggests she channel her feelings about Logan into her song choice. Madison is non-committal at this suggestion.
The Waterhole
Paul comes in, and finds Terese looking forlorn. He asks if he can join her, and Terese doesn't object. She says Madison told her about Paul's advice on the Logan issue. Paul calls Logan a 'cretin', and is obviously concerned at the hold he still has on Madison.
TERESE: She thought he was her soulmate.
PAUL: Hmm. The naivety of youth. Still, when you do love someone that much, you tend to give them more chances than they do deserve.
TERESE: Yeah. When we do that, we set ourselves up to be let down, don't we?
They smile at each other ambiguously.
Erinsborough Hospital
Karl appears to have forgotten about his confidentiality obligations, and is filling in Tyler, Piper, Paige and Lauren on his discoveries about Angelina. Apparently, she knew about her tumour - it was diagnosed months ago, but as it was on her sister's medical record, the doctor who cleared her for fighting didn't know about it, or else he wouldn't have let the fight go ahead.
It seems Angelina went to some effort to cover up her condition, in order to prevent being barred from fighting; and Piper points out that this is probably why Angelina was so keen to get Paige to pull out of the match, so she could collect her fee without fighting. Tyler goes to call Aaron, to fill him in on the situation.
LAUREN: Paige, this wasn't your fault, sweetheart.
Paige asks Karl if the tumour can be fixed. He says it's not that simple; the swelling's receding, so they can perform a scan to see if it's safe to remove it. But the prognosis remains severe - the bleed has done some damage.
LAUREN: But it comes down to pre-existing condition. One that Angelina knew about. So Paige can let herself off the hook now, right?
PAIGE: Angelina's likely to have permanent brain damage. It's not exactly a cause for celebration.

Kyle and Gary are having a beer, and seem a lot friendlier with each other now.
GARY: Obviously a steak man?
KYLE: All the way! You?
GARY: These days I'm an 'anything that doesn't come in a bain-marie' man.
Kyle notices a picture of Amy and Jimmy on the side behind Gary, and suddenly looks sad.
GARY: She's a top chick, Amy.
KYLE: Yeah. She is.
GARY: It can't have been easy. Leaving her.
KYLE: No. No, it wasn't. Probably one of the hardest decisions I've ever had to make. It's just - I dunno, when you're onto a good thing, and you decide to end it, I suppose it's normal to wonder 'what if'?
Kyle resolves that he's going to have to talk to Amy. Gary agrees.

Madison looks forlornly at a picture of Logan on her phone, kicking off a musical montage.
Erinsborough Hospital
Paige sits in the waiting area, still battered, bruised and guilty-looking.
No 26
Sheila looks on happily as Kyle and Gary cook together in the kitchen.
The Waterhole
Paul and Terese are still at the table together, giving each other wistful looks.
No 26
Back to Kyle and Gary again, laughing and adding beer to whatever they're cooking up. They clink bottles.
Erinsborough Hospital
Tyler and Piper come in laughing together, then stop when they see Paige still sitting there. Piper goes over to Paige, and puts an arm around her to comfort her.
No 22
Madison is looking at various pictures of Logan on her phone, still looking miserable.
Jack's Church
Jack finds Paige standing in his office, looking sad. When she sees him, she just throws her arms around him, and they hug. She's crying as the montage ends.
No 26
Karl has joined Kyle and Gary for a beer. He's surprised at the price Kyle has paid for the beers, and remarks that he's become a bit of a beer snob. Kyle replies that Bossy the dog has become a bratwurst snob, too. He says he misses home, but Germany's an okay place to live.
KYLE: And I get to drive as fast as I want on the freeways. Course, the exit sign says 'Fahrt', so I crack up every time I see that!
Gary finds this inordinately funny, as Kyle goes to get them some more bottles.
GARY: Fahrt!
Karl gives him a disapproving look!
In the kitchen, Sheila remarks that she's surprised Georgia hasn't been on the phone to check up on Kyle yet, especially since he's staying in the same house as his ex. Kyle replies that Georgia's busy.
SHEILA: Oh, come on, love. I didn't come down in the last shower.
KYLE: Look, me and Georgia, we've been having some issues.
SHEILA: So Germany's not all it's cracked up to be.
KYLE: We've been arguing. Over the last couple of weeks it's gotten worse. She just works crazy hours, and this trip to Singapore was meant to be a chance for us to spend some quality time together. But she's just been working the whole time.
SHEILA: So you just upped and left her there?
KYLE: Yeah, I thought she could use the space.
SHEILA: Love, you know I'm not Georgia's number one fan. But if you've got things to sort out, running away is not gonna help. Though I am glad you decided to stay longer.
Sheila leaves Kyle to his thoughts. He again sees the picture of Amy and Jimmy, and looks conflicted. He takes out his phone and starts typing a text, which reads, 'Can we please talk?', and presses 'send'.
