Toadie leaves, and Terese gets a text. Madison tells her not to leave "him" hanging (as it's obviously a man). Terese says she's not encouraging him, as he's too young.

Tyler tells Steph he's glad it (the relationship with Piper) is over. Steph tells him he should keep his distance. Not so easy, as she walks in.
At the pool table, Ryan is teaching Terese how to play, which looks very friendly. Piper says that Madison had said that Terese was supposed to be working. Terese says she is, they are, they were...
PIPER: Talk about double standards, mum. Isn't he a little young for you?
RYAN: It's not what it looks like. We're just friends.
PIPER: Really? Because it looks to me like you want benefits.
TERESE: Piper...
PIPER: Well, I wouldn't get your hopes up, because our family has a very strict policy on age gaps.
Terese tells her that's enough, and Piper says she was coming to apologise, but accuses her mum of being a hypocrite. Tyler has heard everything.

Sheila dismisses the stuff Xanthe has to learn as "rubbish", and Xanthe says she can look up what she needs on Wiki. Gary arrives with some cash, which Xanthe assumes is for her dress. He informs her that her schoolwork is more important, and she may not get through if she doesn't starting working.
XANTHE: That's OK. I can always repeat Year 11. I can't always have another formal.
GARY: Sorry. You can still go, just not that dress.
Gary stuffs the cash in a jar on the fridge.

She says that she doesn't want Piper to miss her formal because they can't agree. He says he missed his formal because he had a black eye from his dad. Terese comments that it was awful. Gary overhears and says he seems like a decent young bloke, and suggests that Terese give him and Piper a break.
Susan is at the bar, and Gary tells her he's got a tutor. She's pleased, and Gary asks how Xanthe got so far behind.
SUSAN: There have been some gaps in the teaching staff.
GARY: Well, you better plug them. I don't want her falling behind.
