Number 30
Walter explains to Toadie that he's kept his end of the bargain (staying sober) and now he wants to see Sonya but is told that she is away and Toadie also disputes the fact he is sober since he didn't attend the rehab centre that Toadie paid for. When Steph arrives home, Walter thinks its Sonya but is told again that she isn't home and Steph asks "what's going on?" after Toadie lets him use the bathroom to dry off.
Cue titles!
Robinsons motel
Piper is giving Paul a through grilling during her interview with him but ultimately he is sticking with the same story - that he is innocent and that he only hired Cecilia to cause disruption, nothing more and wants to get involved in the investigation to find out who is the one responsible. The interview comes to an abrupt halt when Paul adds that the reason he couldn't do anything to their family is because he loves Terese - this is new to Piper and looks completely stunned at hearing him say that.
Number 22
Terese goes hunting to where she's secretly stashed a bottle of wine (the tumble dryer) and pours herself a glass before starting to drink it.
Number 30
Toadie fills Steph in on the conman who pretended he was Uncle Walter and that he left a phone number for the real Uncle Walter. Walter made contact a few months ago but when Toadie met him, he was a drunken mess so paid him $5k to go to a rehab centre. He got Stonie to checked up on him and found him drinking in the pub with his mates. Toad wants to keep Sonya in the dark because he fears she might go off the rails and gets Steph's agreement that she won't say anything either, she won't.
TOADIE: Now we just need to get rid of Walter before Sonya comes home tomorrow.
Number 22
Piper comes home and Terese isn't amused to find out what she was up to when the lassie comes clean but the conversation gets side-tracked when she brings up what Paul said - that he loves Terese. Terese admits that she and Paul "were sort of involved," and didn't say anything because their world fell apart and that it was a mistake too. She is still insistent that Paul is guilty even when Piper points out that the investigation has stalled.
TERESE: I wish there was someone else too. Believe me but there's only Paul and the sooner the police prove it, the sooner we can accept it, the better off we all will be.
Number 30
Walter is still pleading that he's sober, the exhaustion is simply down to him travelling all day and when Toadie brings up the rehab, explains that he dried up at home with the help of friends. "So what happened to the five grand I gave you?" Toadie enquires and Walter says he gave it to someone who needed it but refuses to say who.
Steph tries to diffuse the tension by putting the kettle on but Toadie wants him gone. Walter is refusing to head home until he sees Sonya, even if it means hanging around for a few days until she comes home. Much to Toadie's annoyance, Steph agrees to put him up overnight in the motel (her shout) and Toadie rushes to get him out of the house when she gets a text to say Mark is on his way.
"Don't you think you've been a bit hard on him?" Steph asks after Toadie has seen Walter out and he gives an emphatic "no" because "protecting Sonya is the only thing I care about."
Number 22
Piper/Tyler are reviewing Paul's interview, in particular the bit where he declares his love for Terese, and she is contemplating whether he is innocent. She lets Tyler in on her initial thinking (in the aftermath of the explosion) that it was Brodie who was responsible as revenge to get back at her/her family especially since there is no proof he's actually back in Perth. "He's not a psycho," Tyler points out and both are now of the feeling that Paul isn't responsible and he warns that if she posts his interview online, everyone (including her mum) will go nuts!
PIPER: The truth is more important.
TYLER: Whatever you decide, I've got your back.
PIPER: I'm going to remind you of that when mum finds out what I'm about to do!
Piper than uploads the interview.
Number 24 (next day)
Nate is round to voice his opinion on Aaron's new client - he's not happy at him taking Paul on and suggests he gives Terese a call to give her a heads up about the interview.
The Waterhole
Walter apologises to Sheila for his behaviour the previous day, explaining that he was tired and anxious. She accepts his apology and inadvertently talks about how great Sonya is when he brought up about the place having a new mayor.
Harold's café
Piper is unrepentant at putting the video up online but someone isn't happy - Mark and points out that she could be charged with contempt. Aaron reassure his brother that there was nothing put up that isn't already in the public domain however they've forgotten about slander through what was said about Cecilia and Mark strongly urges her to take the video down before things get out of control.
Number 22
Terese receives a visitor - Cecilia who isn't happy at what Piper has done.
TERESE: I wish I could have stopped her.
Cecilia admits that Paul did pay her to cause disruption at the COTY ceremony but she didn't go through with it as her son was sick (and has an alibi) but refuses to make it official even though she hopes he's put away as they'd all be safer with him inside!
TERESE: So you have no doubt that Paul was responsible for the explosion?
CECILIA: I am absolutely certain he was behind it.
Police station
Terese wants to know from Mark if there has been any new development with the investigation into the explosion and he reminds her that he's not on it any more but even if he were, he couldn't tell her anything. "I wouldn't expect you to," she quickly says but wonders if Piper's video will have any impact. Officially he's saying it's hard to tell but personally thinks it could be damaging by throwing doubt on Paul's guilt which could lead to him being found not guilty. Terese is aghast at that prospect happening and so is Mark but his hands are tied he says.
Lassiters Complex
After leaving the police station, Terese isn't amused to see Paul/Aaron in the complex especially so because they are laughing.
The Waterhole
Aaron is thrilled at the fact the positive comments are totally outweighing the negative ones and refuses to comply with Nate's request to drop Paul as a client. Nate isn't amused at Aaron's decision so gives him an ultimatum - drop Paul or he'll withdraw his investment in him.
Steph runs into Walter in the bar and asks how his night in the motel was (fine) and he begs her to talk to Toadie on his behalf to get him to change his mind as he needs to speak to Sonya.
Number 30
"Don't freak out," Steph tells Toadie on getting home and then that he should hear Walter out as he deserves a chance. "Okay lets here it then," Toad replies and she leaves them to talk privately.
Walter begins by apologising for not using the money on rehab as he used it to help someone. Next he explains that he did relapse on the day Stonie appeared as he'd received some bad news, but that was the first time in ages. Toadie thinks it will be only a matter of time before that happens again and wants to know why he suddenly wants to reconnect with her now. Walter explains that he initially though it would be best if he weren't in Sonya/Jade's life but now realises that thinking was wrong but before they get further, Steph rushes into the house to say Sonya has just pulled up in a taxi, even though she wasn't expected until the evening.
Number 22
Terese thanks Cecilia for coming to see her again - she's upset at the number of calls received on the back of the interview. "Please help me," Terese begs but Cecilia doesn't think there is anything she can do to help.
TERESE: Well there is. Okay, what if someone told the police that Paul had confessed to them about causing the explosion? He'd definitely get put away. And that person could make a deal with the police for immunity in exchange for their testimony... and Lassiters would be very grateful.
CECILIA: How grateful?
TERESE: Full support and protection.
CECILIA: A job with a long term contract?
TERESE: Yes, I'm sure that could be arranged. Please, please help me get justice for my son.
