Previously on Neighbours
- Piper announcing that she's been seeing Brodie.
- Brad consenting as long as swimming is Brodie's priority.
- Aaron realising Tom has changed the environmental report.
- Tom suggesting he will blackmail Aaron if he points the finger at him.
- Aaron coming clean with Sonya adding that there's no proof against either him/Tom.
- Sonya sacking Aaron.
Ramsay Street
Sonya is struggling with having to sack Aaron, something she's never had to do before, and the ramifications that will now occur because of what he told her, when she wishes she could just bury her head in the sand.
SONYA: See, this is why you should never marry a lawyer, Jarrod.
TOADIE: Sorry to be playing hard ball, but you've got to do more than just reverse the council's decision on the development.
Number 22
Despite Terese being in the same room as them, Xanthe is fishing for info from Piper about her/Brodie. Eventually Piper spills the beans and much to their relief, Terese stops listening because there is a call. Its Brad looking for Brodie so they can go to training (a brutal one scheduled apparently) and Piper agrees to come along and watch him after Xanthe decides to put Piper's love life first rather than their planned movie date.
Number 24
Mark invites Steph for a date at the movies but looks like the date may be off because Sonya pops round to report a crime to Mark (what Tom did) and hesitantly says that it involves Aaron too.
Lassiters outdoor exercise area
Josh/Brad debrief on how badly Brodie is doing in his training and think by giving him a reality check, even if he won't enjoy hearing it, it might prompt a change.
Brodie joins them after doing another run (which he's unhappy about) so they tell him about their concerns but Brodie twists it back and says its Brad's training which is at fault. Brad then goes blunt and tells him he won't be ready for the trials, which does down like a lead balloon. "You're welcome to find another coach," Brad says in reply to his outburst. "Fine!" Brodie literally spits in his face and stomping off.
Harold's Café
Aaron explains to his brother that after Nate rejected him, he just wanted "someone to be nice to me." Mark can't believe how stupid his brother has been by putting himself into a position where he could be taken advantage of.
AARON: I was too trusting.
MARK: No, stupid is the word.
Mark suggests that Aaron gets himself a lawyer before making a statement but he refuses the offer, adamant that he hasn't committed a crime.
MARK: All right, let's hope the police believe you.
Number 22
Paige is psyching herself up to go to the boring training session when Brodie arrives home. Naturally she's surprised to see him as she was just about to head to the pool but he replies she wouldn't have found him there anyway as Brad had him doing a 10km run before dumping him. "What?" she asks but Brodie's mindset is that he's been dumped because of them coming clean about their relationship. Xanthe is on Brodie's side but Piper doesn't think he'd jeopardise Brodie's swimming career.
XANTHE: It's pretty obvious, Brodie's only here for swimming, okay. You take swimming away and Brodie flies back to Perth. It's a typical controlling dad move.
BRODIE: Exactly.
PIPER: No...Dad's not like that.
XANTHE: Piper, every dad is like that, especially yours. Okay, take the Tyler situation for example, she will explain that one later.
PIPER: It's just...you're pretty much part of the family, Dad wouldn't do that.
BRODIE: ...
PIPER: Would he?
Lassiters Complex
Brodie's silence after that question has Piper jumping to conclusions and she confronts her dad about it as he has an OJ outside Harold's. "Its utter rubbish," is his take on the accusations and explains that he didn't dump Brodie, after giving him feedback he left the door open for Brodie to get a new coach. He confirms he's not trying to get in the way of them; he wants her to be happy.
The Waterhole
Terese is shocked to hear Mark tell her about what Tom has been up to after he approached her to see if he could ask her some questions about the hotel. She adds that while the Quill's are very savvy when it comes to business, it sounds too underhand even for them.
MARK: Going by what you said, it sounds like they've got form.
TERESE: They're ruthless, they're not criminals.
Terese also adds that she doubts Tom would jeopardise the family business that way either.
Number 22
Piper comes home to see Brodie's belongings all over the livingroom; he's leaving to go back to Perth. Xanthe jokes that she's just going to have to follow him there, which Piper doesn't find amusing! She tries to talk to Brodie about what Brad told her but he just accuses her of taking his side.
PIPER: I'm not taking sides; I just don't want you to leave.
Brodie feels he can't stay after being dumped, which she accepts but doesn't want him heading back to Perth and wants to help him find somewhere to stay and to get a new coach. "This is so romantic," Xanthe cries and Brodie has misinterpreted Piper's offer of help as them wanting to get somewhere together. "I don't think so!" she's quick to say but he pleads for her to change her mind.
PIPER: I'm not moving out, I've put Mum and Dad through enough.
BRODIE: I can't do this without you, Piper. And we're so much better together, you know that.
XANTHE: Are you hearing him? Come on, move out, it's gonna be so good!
Xanthe is told to shut up before Piper makes it clear to Brodie that she's not moving out but will help him find somewhere else and reassures him that she'll still see him every day.
PIPER: I'm here for you but I just need to stay at home.
While accepting her decision, Brodie asks that she stays with him tonight in a room at the motel. "Just one night, I really need you," he pleads. Hesitantly, Piper agrees to one night.
Harold's Café
Aaron is having difficulty accepting what Tom has told Mark - that he's been taking bribes, in the way of clothing, from lots of people. "They were gifts that he bought me," pleads Aaron then it dawns on him that Tom always paid in cash so there's no proof.
AARON: I can't believe I thought he cared.
MARK: Well, look on the bright side, no paper trail either way means you can't be arrested for it.
AARON: Really?
MARK: It's his word against yours.
Aaron is still in the frame though for the doctored report after Tom denied it was him and instead claimed that it was Aaron who offered him a copy of it in exchange for payment.
MARK: So, unless you can come up with evidence that it was Tom, you're gonna be up for it.
"There is no evidence!" Aaron pleads and Mark asks him to be patient, the investigation is just getting underway and they might get lucky! Aaron isn't willing to wait; he wants to prove it was Tom who set him up.
Number 22
Terese has invited Sonya round after hearing about the allegations to apologise on behalf of Tom. "It wasn't your fault," Sonya points out but appreciates the sentiment. Sonya is somewhat surprised at the stance Terese is taking (that it was all down to Aaron, Tom is innocent) so she explains that she's just protecting the hotel interest, which goes down like a lead balloon with Sonya. Terese quickly backtracks and instead says that its important to the hotel, which Sonya is quick to point out that she doesn't work for them but the Erinsborough, something the Quill Group seem to have overlooked! Sonya asks Terese to get Tom to stop calling her too because it's bordering on harassment.
Terese then spots a note on the table labelled 'mum' and opens it.
Lassiters Complex
Despite what she asked of Terese, Tom has called Sonya but is told that the development should be the least of his worries and its unlikely the council will pass it any time soon before putting an abrupt end to the call. Toadie gives her the thumbs up over how she handled the call and suggests that if he calls again, she should let Mark know.
Josh isn't too surprised when Brad tells him that Brodie's stuff has all gone from #22 but is concerned at what else was in the note Piper left - that they've not to worry, which matches up with the weird text Josh got from her earlier.
Tell everyone to chill. Back soon.
Brad wants him to text her back to find out where she is.
Grease Monkey's
Piper still isn't sure her parents will be happy at what she's doing as they stop for drinks at Grease Monkey's. While she is inside, the text from Josh arrives asking her to come home and to call him. Despite lecturing Brad previously about not having a pass code on his iPad, she doesn't have one on her iPhone so Brodie goes into it and deletes the text Josh sent.
Number 30
"You owe me a date," Steph greets Mark with when he comes round but he's not round to see her but rather give Sonya an update on the investigation (and comment on how cuter Nell is getting). As there is no proof, the bribery part has been dropped but the investigation to the doctored report is still on, even though they both appear to know who did it!
Sonya leaves Nell to interact with Mark while she goes to see the text that's just arrived on her phone - a picture of Nell taken in day care that day. Everyone thinks its weird but it then dawns on Sonya that someone is watching Nell. "Who sent it to you?" Mark asks and she replies that she doesn't know and is now concerned that it's a threat and concludes that it's related to the Quill development.
Mark is trying hard not to jump to conclusions but equally to reassure the Rebecchi's that Nell is safe and at home. When Sonya/Toadie go to put Nell down to sleep, he suggests to Steph that it might perhaps be wise for him to stay over and they head off to bed but without realising that the back door is open!
(Later)
Sonya gets up and heads to the kitchen but it takes a moment or two for her to notice that the back door is open. She goes to lock it and as she is looking out the window, the lights go on - its Mark coming through after he thought he heard a noise. "Why are you still here?" she asks and without saying exactly where, he confirms to Sonya that he's with Steph. "Are you okay with that?" he asks and she confirms that she is but he can see something is up and asks what, so she explains about finding the back door open when she came through for a glass of water. Sonya then notices that Nell's cuddly toy (Professor Wombat) is lying in the livingroom despite her taking it to bed. "Are you sure?" Mark asks and she replies yes and she becomes distressed at the thought of someone being in the house/Nell's room.
Unmissable drama
- Sonya unable to relax until the intruder is caught.
- Tom protesting his innocence.
- Aaron promising to do all he can to fix things but she doesn't think he can get Tom arrested.
Prepare to reach boiling point... Neighbours hotel horror the captions then say with scenes of something happening!
