- Doug forgets that Susan collapsed on the road in the heat - and then remembers again
- Imogen rushes to the scene to save Susan
Erinsborough Hospital
Susan is being stretchered into the hospital with Imogen at her side, and is weakly asking for Karl. Karl shows up and looks worried as she's wheeled into a hospital room. In lieu of a speaking non-Karl practitioner, Imogen explains that Susan is severely dehydrated.
Ready, set - titles!
Elsewhere in the hospital, Nene is telling Amy that she's recently quit her job and hotfooted it Erinsborough to randomly spend time with her family, as new characters are wont to do. Amy's concerned, as Nene had only been in her job for six months.
NENE: I need stimulation - new challenges.
Amy recalls that Nene had a co-worker that she really liked, but Nene changes the subject, and asks if Amy thinks Karl will drop by to see her; she'd like to thank him for his help today. Amy looks awkward and says Karl's on duty at the moment.
AMY: If you stayed here, what did you think you were gonna do for work?
But Nene changes the subject again, and asks when she'll get to meet Kyle.
AMY: I'm not sure - he's got a lot on at the moment.
NENE: Maybe you can bring him in tomorrow.
AMY: No, there's plenty of time for you to meet him. You need to concentrate on getting well.
NENE: Darling, I'm hardly at death's door.
AMY: You need to give yourself chance to recover, Mum. Meeting Kyle can wait.

Xanthe is preparing dinner with Piper's help, while Sheila rests her legs. Kyle comes in, and is suitably impressed to see Xanthe cooking. Xanthe explains that Sheila needs to rest. Kyle explains that Jimmy is still at the hospital (Not In This Episode™) with Amy and Nene.
SHEILA: So weird what that woman did, taking off with the little boy like that.
KYLE: Yeah, I think Amy's a bit on edge about it all.
Kyle goes to wash up before dinner, while Xanthe asks if Sheila wants her potatoes in strips or chunks!

The power has come back on, but the Heatwave™ is still palpable at Topless Towers, which makes it doubly odd that neither Tyler, Mark nor Daniel are topless.
TYLER: My knees are sweating.
Courtney walks in; she's all dressed up. Tyler looks uncomfortable. Paige walks in too, also dressed up. Mark looks uncomfortable. Courtney goes to fetch some lipstick she left here before she split up with Tyler, while Paige apologises for barging in. She and Courtney are heading out to a club in The City™. Courtney returns with the lipstick, and she and Paige leave.
DANIEL: That was uncomfortable.
Tyler opines that Courtney and Paige's swift visit wasn't about lipstick at all, but about letting him and Mark know they've moved on from their respective relationships. Tyler laments being single again. Mark looks miserable.
Erinsborough Hospital
Karl and Imogen are still with Susan, and for some reason, Brad has shown up. He's apologising for Doug having left Susan in the road. Susan says they know Doug didn't mean to leave her there, and thanks Imogen for being her hero. Brad and Imogen shuffle off set-left, Karl eager to get rid of them so Susan can have some rest.
SUSAN: I'm not made of spun sugar, you know.
She insists she feels better already, but apologises for giving Karl a scare. She admits she should've stayed with the car, as she'd been experiencing some mild symptoms of her MS - tingling and numbness - since the heatwave began. Karl feels guilty for not having been on top of this himself, since heat can exacerbate MS.
Susan tells him it's not his fault - they should chalk it up to bad luck. Karl kisses her hand, saying he never wants to see her in that kind of state again.

Xanthe has done the washing up and comes to join Sheila on the sofa, who thanks her for looking after her. Xanthe promises things are going to be different between them from now on, then goes to bed. Amy and Kyle come in; Kyle wants to take Nene breakfast in the hospital tomorrow so he can make a good first impression, but Amy doesn't seem keen, and says it can wait till she's discharged.
KYLE: You think I'm gonna mess this up, don't ya?
AMY: No!
KYLE: I'm awesome with mums!
Amy explains her mum can be a little unpredictable, however.
KYLE: Hey - Kyle's got this covered! Sit back, relax, and let the magic happen!
Amy looks far from reassured.
Erinsborough Hospital
Karl has come to see Nene. He finds out that she's a nurse.
KARL: And as a medical practitioner, it didn't occur to you to wear a hat today?
NENE: You could have loaned me yours, but you weren't wearing one either.
KARL: Touché.
Karl takes her blood pressure. She tells him she feels silly not being able to handle the heat anymore, since she grew up in Alice Springs. Karl says these things are prone to change over the years.
NENE: I hope you're not saying I'm getting old, Dr Kennedy.
KARL: Oh, absolutely not!
We learn Nene currently lives in the Blue Mountains. Karl is concerned her blood pressure is a little on the low side.
NENE: It's better than it was an hour ago. I keep thinking about that old Lovin' Spoonful song, 'Summer in the City'. Bet YOU were a cool cat looking for a kitty.
KARL: They don't write lyrics like that anymore, do they?!
They reminisce about the folly of youth - but Nene admits that her folly hasn't been completely confined to her youth.
KARL: And on that mysterious note, I'll leave you to get some rest.
NENE: Thank you, Dr Kennedy.
KARL: My pleasure, Nurse Williams.
Nene smiles as he leaves.

It's the next morning, and Paige and Courtney are relaxing in the pool. Courtney asks if Paige is going to call the 'hottie' who was buying her drinks all last night. Paige says she's not interested, but Courtney says she needs to get over her relationship break-up by 'cleansing her palate with someone hot and frivolous'. Courtney offers to set Paige up with a friend of hers.
However, Paige says she's tried to force herself to get over Mark, and it doesn't work; she just wants to chill and 'find out who she is'. Courtney accuses her of moping.
Erinsborough Hospital
Susan is touched to receive a card and chocolates that have been sent in by Doug. She's keen to see him so she can assure him he wasn't to blame. But Karl's still being overprotective about Susan getting visitors, and tells her she needs to rest - her sunstroke could have caused organ failure or a seizure.
SUSAN: You're right. I'm gonna postpone this afternoon's summit of Everest (!)
KARL: Yeah, for a week at least.
Karl has brought Susan some juice to keep her hydrated, and a red rose to go by her bedside. Karl again tells her it's not a good idea for Doug to visit. Susan suggests she phone him instead, despite Karl's reluctance.
KARL: Sometimes I wish I was appreciated more.
SUSAN: Sometimes I wish I was patronised less.
Harold's Café
Brad, Imogen, Piper and Xanthe are having coffees at a table. Piper explains she's been thinking about how to help Doug more; she's been reading up about Alzheimer's, and came across the idea of filming the patient talking about their life, so they can then watch it over and over again.
PIPER: I want to call it the Pop Doc. But the only thing is, I need my phone and my computer to make it all come together.
IMOGEN: Nicely played.
Brad relents, and says he'll rescind Piper's technology ban on the condition that Terese agrees to it when he speaks to her. In the meantime she can have her gadgets back to start on the Pop Doc.
BRAD: But all online activity will be strictly monitored, okay?
Yeah - good luck with that, Brad. He leaves, and Piper and Xanthe high-five Piper's return to the twenty-first century. Tyler comes over, and compliments Imogen for saving Doug and Susan yesterday.
TYLER: Did you carry them individually to safety, or one on each shoulder?
IMOGEN: Obviously one at a time. We don't all have arms like yours.
Imogen asks if Tyler's heard from Daniel; she messaged him earlier and got no response. Tyler says Daniel was gone by the time he got up.
Erinsborough Hospital
Karl tells Nene he's keeping her in hospital for a little longer, as he's not entirely happy with her blood tests. Nene says she trusts his judgement, and thanks him for how wonderful he's been. At that moment, Amy and Kyle turn up, and Karl goes off to do his rounds.
AMY: Kyle, this is my mum, Nina.
NENE: Everyone calls me Nene.
She seems pleased to meet Kyle, and gratefully accepts his offer of croissants for breakfast. Nene explains that she was hoping to surprise Amy with her arrival in town, but instead ended up in hospital.
NENE: How's Little J?
AMY: She means Jimmy.
Amy says he's much better after a good night's sleep. Nene's worried that Lassiter's may not have kept her room for her when she failed to show up last night, but Kyle suggests she can stay at No 26 with them. Amy isn't keen, and makes the excuse that they should check with Sheila first, in case she has other plans.
Nene visibly twigs that Amy isn't sure about her staying with them, but says she'd rather be close to 'Little J' than stay in the hotel. Amy simply repeats that they need to check with Sheila.

In the back yard, Sheila has the radio on, and is dancing to the music with a garden rake! Xanthe comes out and catches her in the act, realising she isn't as ill as she's been making out.
SHEILA: Well it's funny how a good song can really get you moving!
XANTHE: I can't believe you played me like that. I thought you were sick; I thought you were dying.
SHEILA: I was sick!
XANTHE: Yeah, on death's door, clearly.
Erinsborough Hospital
Amy is still with Nene, who says she thinks Kyle seems lovely. Amy still seems uncomfortable, so Nene asks her to sit down.
NENE: Darling, if you have a problem with me staying with you, just say the word, and I'll stay at Lassiter's.
AMY: I don't have a problem.
NENE: You never were a very good liar, you know.
AMY: It's not that I don't want you there. Jimmy would love it. But...
NENE: I'm in a good headspace, Ames. Better than last time.
Amy reminds Nene that last time they spoke, Nene was happy in her job, and in love.
NENE: It wasn't love. And that hospital was so small. I missed the big smoke.
AMY: Okay.
NENE: You don't sound convinced.
AMY: Oh, I believe you, Mum.
NENE: But you're worried I might act up.
AMY: You know I don't think that.
Nene again offers to stay at Lassiter's, but Amy goes to call Sheila and ask if Nene can stay. Once Amy's out of the room, Nene gets an unsigned text message, which reads, 'Nothing more I can do for you. You're on your own, sorry.' She looks upset.

In the back yard, Xanthe storms towards the house, accusing Sheila of manipulating her. Sheila insists she wasn't faking the chest pains, but Xanthe says she can't trust anything Sheila says now - including that she wants Xanthe here, other than as some kind of skivvy.
Sheila admits she did exaggerate her frailty after recovering from the chest pains, but only so Xanthe would learn that her behaviour had consequences, and modify it accordingly.
XANTHE: Like you dying if I disagreed with you or did something wrong? Do you know how disgusting that is? I went to bed last night and bawled my eyes out about you.
Sheila apologises profusely.
XANTHE: I thought you'd be the one person that would be straight with me. You know, I wondered why Dad was the way he was. And now I know - the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, does it?
SHEILA: How dare you?!
XANTHE: You lied to me! I bet you were laughing about it the whole time!
SHEILA: I wasn't - I haven't been!
Suddenly, Sheila starts having chest pains again.
XANTHE: Oh, please, I'm not gonna fall for that twice.
SHEILA (in pain): Xanthe, please!
XANTHE: You need new material, and you need it fast!
Xanthe marches off and, once she's gone, Sheila drops, gasping onto the lawn, clutching her chest in agony.

Paige and Courtney are on deckchairs by the pool. Paige is just about to fetch them some drinks from indoors, when Mark turns up. Courtney gives them a wry look from the deckchair, as Mark asks if he and Paige can talk. He acknowledges the 'weird vibe' when she came round to the house last night, and says he just wanted her to know she's welcome at their place any time.
Mark also gives Paige a present - it's a laptop bag, which he hopes will come in handy for uni. Paige thanks him appreciatively, and Courtney smiles as she listens in. Mark then leaves.
COURTNEY: One week.
PAIGE: What?
COURTNEY: I give you guys one week till you're back together.
PAIGE: No, we are over.
COURTNEY: That's not the way it looked to me.
PAIGE: Alright then. How about you call that friend of yours, and set us up on a date? I am moving on.
COURTNEY: That's my girl.
Ramsay Street
Kyle, who is fixing his ute, bumps his head on the bonnet when Xanthe storms over to talk to him about Sheila apparently faking her illness. Kyle's sceptical, asking Xanthe how she knows that.
XANTHE: I just caught her dancing in the back yard with some rake!
KYLE: ... Right.
XANTHE: Yeah. And you know what the worst thing is? She tried to pull the same kind of game when I called her out - acting like she was having some kind of big attack.
KYLE: That doesn't sound like Gran.
XANTHE: Well maybe you don't know her as well as you thought you did. Maybe she's playing you too.
Xanthe walks away, and Kyle heads towards the house.

Sheila is still lying in the garden, moaning incoherently. When Kyle arrives, Bossy runs towards him, barking.
KYLE: Gran! Gran!
He makes a phone call on his mobile.
KYLE: I need an ambulance. I think my gran's had another heart attack... 26 Ramsay Street,
Erinsborough... Please, just hurry up!... You're gonna be alright, Gran.
Erinsborough Hospital
Karl drops in to see Nene again, who's reading some magazines Amy bought her. Karl remarks that she raised a good daughter, and explains he lives across the street from Amy.
NENE: We'll be neighbours, then. When I'm getting discharged I'll be staying at the Cannings'.
KARL: Oh, right. Well, you'll have to come over for a wine or a bite to eat.
She puts her hand on his arm!
NENE: I'm so glad you said that, Karl. You know, we're both too old to be beating around the bush. I want you to know that I felt it too, from the moment we first met!
Karl is speechless...
