Aaron promises to find out who sent the rat, and Paul tells him to start with Steph.
PAUL: Because sane people do not send dead rats in the mail.
Aaron says he'll contact Mark aka Constable Useless, but Paul wants it kept quiet to stop gossip. He also asks Aaron to move in. Well, that will start a different sort of gossip. Aaron calls reception and gets some interesting info...
Mark comes to see how Paige is, and comments that's she's obviously still affected by the fire.
PAIGE: The next words out of your mouth had better not be Post Traumatic Stress and Disorder, because that is not me.
He tells her there's no shame in it, and she should see a counsellor. She tells him to drop it. On his way out, he meets Brad and says he's heard nothing about Ben and Piper. Brad and Susan confer, and say neither Ben nor Piper have been on social media. What, for a whole day?! Josh assures them that Piper can look after herself, but Brad and Susan are worried.
The Rose & Thistle, in a country town
Outside it looks OK, but the room is a youth hostel type dormitory (although it is en-suite). Ben groans in pain as he sits down. He has picked up a leaflet about cherry picking, so they consider whether to apply so they can save some money to get to Sydney. They wonder what is going on at home. Piper says they'll be worried, but they will be better off without them.
Aaron has confronted Sheila about what she delivered, and she says she knew Paul would complain. He's surprised that she's admitted it.
AARON: Sending a dead rat to someone is a form of assault.
SHEILA: A dead rat? What are you talking about?
AARON: What are you talking about?
Turns out she gave Paul his bar tab, and took up the rest of the mail too. But she saw the man who dropped it off...
Meanwhile, Mark tells Tyler that Paige was freaked out and he asks Tyler what happened in the lift. Tyler says that he passed out, so Paige would have felt alone.
TYLER: I'll give it a shot. As long as you visit me in hospital when she rips my head off.
Harold's - outside
Aaron asks Josh if he sent the rat.
AARON: The thought just crossed my mind. I mean, you do hate Paul's guts.
JOSH: Yeah, me and everyone else in Erinsborough.
Josh asks about the USB stick, and says he'll check with Imogen before Aaron gets rid of it.
Sheila is outside the Waterhole and spots a dark-haired man (Dean) standing nearby. Aaron catches him, and Dean tells him the rat was meant for him, not Paul.
(a little while later)
Aaron tells Dean not to come back, and tells Sheila how Dean never had any complaints about his circuit parties until she made a noise complaint.
AARON: Now I get to go back to Paul and tell him the threat he thought was meant for him was meant for me.
SHEILA: He might be relieved because it's one more person in the world who doesn't hate him.
Aaron's not very happy, fearing he will lose his pay rise.
No 32 garden
Paige is bashing the punch-bag when Tyler arrives to say that Mark is worried, and so is he. She keeps punching. He suggest she should talk to a counsellor. She punches harder, and catches him on the chin. She apologises... oh wait, no she doesn't.
The Rose & Thistle
Dennis, aka Farmer Scam, arrives to tell them about the job. He says the job includes transport and meals, and they pay $8/hour. They say they will think about and Dennis agrees to call back. Piper comments that it will take ages to save enough and tells Ben he should go home, but he refuses.
Paige tells Tyler she feels stressed out.
PAIGE: You know, all I've ever wanted is for my mum and dad to be together.
Really? Even though it meant Matt dying, and breaking up Brad and Terese's marriage and upsetting your siblings? Oh and did you think that when you trashed Harold's? And you'd never even met them until a couple of years ago. Anyway onwards and downwards...
She says that Brad was here and now he's gone, and it's heartbreaking. She adds that her niece is sick; and the fire last night reminded her of the fire in the school. She remembered what they said and now they're not friends. Tyler says he's not surprised she's stressed.
PAIGE: Sometimes I wish I could just take a break from myself. Just be someone else for a while.
Good idea Paige. Perhaps you could be one of my friends - they're nice people.
The Rose & Thistle
Ben confesses he started the fire to look "cool" and Piper says that's why she dared him. He adds that he and Emma never... you know. Piper says that none of her 5 boyfriends were proper relationships.
BEN: How cool are we now?
PIPER: We're just a couple of losers.
She says that losers stick together. He says that earning $8/hour (picking cherries) is better than nothing.
Sheila tells Aaron he doesn't need to tell Paul he (Aaron) was the target of the revenge. After all, he wants to buy the house with his brothers. He points out that he'd be working under false pretences, but she fobs him off, saying the death threats were real. He asks why she's so keen on this and she says Paul treated Naomi really badly.
SHEILA: Slandering her to make himself look better: that's beyond the pale.
Aaron's still not sure that conning Paul is right, but she points out his life might still be in danger.
Sheila and Aaron arrive. He tells Paul that they've got a few leads.
AARON: Sheila and I have been working together to come up with a list of all of your enemies. You can stay on top of any potential threats.
SHEILA: It took ages to put together. Here, it's really long.
Paul asks how long it will take to go through, and Aaron (encouraged by Sheila) promises no more than a week. Paul leaves, and Sheila calls room service.
AARON: What...What are you doing?
SHEILA: I'm hungry. Do you want a club sandwich?
AARON: I just ate.
SHEILA: I'll get you one for later.
AARON: Sheila! What...
SHEILA: Hello. Yes, room service, I wonder could I have two club sandwiches, two chocolate sundaes. And could I have that to go? Thanks.
Paige thanks Tyler for coming over, and he says he'd do anything for her.
TYLER: You're everything I ever wanted in a girl.
TYLER: That's why we still can't be friends. Not yet anyway.
Mark arrives and Paige tells him she's messed up, and she's going to see a counsellor. Mark is pleased and hugs her, and mouths a thank you to Tyler.
The Rose & Thistle
Piper says it's going to take a month to save enough to move on, so Ben says they should go home. Piper says no. Dennis arrives back and tells them they have to pay $200 up front for meals and transport.
PIPER: Is this some sort of scam to rip off stupid tourists?
He tells them the minibus leaves in 15 minutes.
Brad and Susan can't think who else to contact, as nobody has heard anything.
In the kitchen, Aaron asks Josh if he should come clean about the rat. Josh says no: Paul can afford it, and he doesn't give a stuff about anyone. He points out that Aaron might be able to stop Paul's next dodgy deal.
Mark comes in, saying there's no news of Piper and Ben. However date of Ben's hearing has been set for next week. If he's not back, he's more likely to be sent to juvenile detention.
The Rose & Thistle
Ben has calculated that it will take two days work to get back the upfront money. Ben is groaning in pain and Piper points out that it will be hard work, so he's not going anywhere. She insists that he stay there, telling him they won't have enough money if they both pay up front. She leaves the room. Ben stands up and collapses in pain.
