Dial a Kyle
Kyle, Amy and Jimmy arrive in the ute. Jimmy is wittering on, then asks Amy and Kyle why they are so quiet. Amy claims she's letting him finish his story. Jimmy's not convinced and asks Kyle, who says she's not acting weird. Jimmy asks Steph (who's at the garage) if he can hang out with her, indicating that the others are crazy. Amy says that's fine. She and Kyle smile awkwardly and she leaves.
Mark reports the findings of the investigation so far to Sonya. Yeah, she needs to know. They are checking the finger prints on the jerry can; and the fire was started using liquid fertiliser. He gets a call to say the finger prints have been identified. As he leaves, Amy arrives. She tells Sonya that she kissed Kyle.
Garage / No 30
Meanwhile, Kyle has told Tyler, who seems more pleased than Kyle!- Amy and Kyle kiss
Sonya says she thought Amy was open to the prospect. Amy says yes, but it's difficult because they work together and live together.- Amy and Kyle kiss
Kyle is worried because he came off second best to Liam. Tyler agrees that it hurts.- Amy and Kyle kiss
Sonya tells Amy to stop over-thinking and see where it goes.- Amy and Kyle kiss
Tyler advises Kyle that they should stay friends. Kyle's not sure how he can forget her.
TYLER: You just go and hook up with some random bird who's the complete opposite.
Kyle looks thoughtful, then takes his wedding ring off and puts it in his pocket.
Susan asks Sue for the Council to provide temporary classrooms(?) so that the school can keep going. Sue says the Council won't want to bear the cost when the school could just close prematurely. They school will just have to find more volunteers to fix the existing classroom.
Mark arrives to say that Jayden has been brought in for questioning because his fingerprints have been found on a piece of evidence, and she needs to come down to the station.
Police Station Interview Room
Mark is interviewing Jayden, who claims he may have touched the jerry can when he was having the car washed. Mark reminds him that people nearly died. He asks if Jayden wants a smoking break, since he likes a cigarette. He produces a picture of Jayden with a cigarette in Susan's office just before the fire started. Jayden had posted in online, then deleted it.
JAYDEN: It was a joke. I thought I put the cigarette out. I didn't mean to burn down the whole school.
He claims that he was annoyed with Susan for getting at his mum, so he went in her office, and took the selfie for a joke. Mark asks him about the jerry can, and he admits that he planted it because he heard that Steph was "crazy".
Steph and Jimmy are still at the garage when Paul arrives. He invites Jimmy to go for a meal, but Jimmy would rather stay with Steph. Steph tells Paul to give Jimmy some space as he's still upset about his dad. Paul doesn't want her advice.
PAUL: What do you know about child rearing anyway? I mean, when was the last time you even saw one of your own kids?
Someone is watching as Steph remonstrates with Paul.
Amy arrives home, where Kyle is watching TV. She switches it off.
AMY: I'm just gonna put my cards on the table.
KYLE: All right. Better than avoiding each other.
AMY: Mmm. Kyle, I like you, and before Liam came along, I was gonna ask you to have a coffee. And this is more than just a workmate coffee, which probably means it should've been a drink. Either way, there would've been a beverage involved and I would have asked you out for it. And hopefully you would've said yes. I'd like to think you would've said yes to that.
KYLE: Chances are I probably would've. Cos I was thinking along the same lines about the drink.
KYLE: Then Liam showed up.
Amy notices he's taken his ring off, and he explains he's ready to move on. He gets a call, and goes off to the yard. Amy smiles.
Police Station Reception
Sue and Mark come out of the Interview Room. Sue tells Mark that Jayden is innocent. If the photo was uploaded at 7:12 as he says, she was in Susan's office 10 minutes later, and nothing was alight. He accuses her of covering for Jayden, but she admits that she was trying to delete the online component of the petition.
SUE: I tried to log into Susan's account. I couldn't crack the password and after three attempts, the server locked me out. That should be easy to check.
MARK: It's pretty flimsy, Sue.
He says that she's admitted to a break and enter, and maybe she started the fire. Sue says she didn't, and points out he doesn't have any evidence.
Amy tells Sonya about her conversation with Kyle, and Sonya tells her to ask him on a date - and no time like the present! Amy goes over to ask him to play pool, but he refuses, and introduces her to Shay. Amy asks if they are friends, and Shay says not really.
Jayden is at the garage, and tells her he tried to frame her.
STEPH: Why single me out? I don't even know you.
JAYDEN: Because you're crazy. Burning down the whole school, that's totally something like you would do.
Steph is furious, and asks him if he knows how much trouble he's caused her. Everyone thinks it's her. He apologises and leaves. She is horrified at what he's done.
Amy tells Sonya that the only man she can trust is Jimmy. Sonya agrees that Kyle going out with someone else after he kissed Amy is really disappointing behaviour.
AMY: Doesn't seem to be bothering him.
Shay tells Kyle that her ex proposed after two dates. Kyle says he won't be, as he's just out of a marriage. He asks her to go for a walk by the lake or something. She takes "something". Amy's upset, and Sonya tries to comfort her, saying they might be having cake. Amy says she knows exactly what they'll be doing. "Having cake": is that what they're calling it now?
Sue has apologised to Susan for trying to log in to her account. Susan won't accept it, and asks why she hates the school so much. Having sacked her as head of P&F, Susan leaves. Paul saunters up, and asks if Sue started the fire. He says that she'll have to resign from the Council, but she refuses.
SUE: You came to me on the night of the fire and specifically asked me to delete that petition.
PAUL: I don't remember asking you to break into Susan's office. And I hope you didn't say anything to the police about our deal.
Sue says she hasn't. He promises to take care of everything, despite the fact that the Star have exposed Freestyle.
It's night and Kyle arrives home. Amy realises that Shay is coming over. She's confused because she thought that Kyle liked her.
KYLE: You chose Liam.
He says that it's not payback: she chose Liam to be a full-time dad to Jimmy. He doesn't want things to get messy. He tells her it's not serious with Shay, but it will help him get over her. Amy nods, then starts to cry.
Tyler asks Steph if she's seen his torque wrench. She loses it, and says she hasn't taken it. He tries to calm her down, but she shouts that nobody will let her forget her past. She pushes him away and storms out
