As it tips with rain outside, Nate discovers Tyler camped out on a sofa and Tyler explains that he was kicked out by Mark. Nate offers to let him stay with Susan and Karl, as they seem to have a thing for taking in strays! Nate asks Tyler what he plans to do, just as Aaron drops by to offer to pay for a hotel room. Tyler politely declines both offers.
No. 32 Backyard
Miraculously across town the sun is shining, and Imogen brings champagne and some mail for Paige's birthday. The envelope is addressed to Paige and has been forwarded from an address in Adelaide; it's from her adoptive dad, but she brushes it off as a "distant relative". Amber raises a birthday toast, but Paige dampens their spirits by asking to cancel her birthday party. Sensing something is wrong, Imogen gets Paige to confess who the card was from, and she explains that she hasn't even heard from her adoptive mother. Imogen promises that if Paige goes ahead with the party, she and Amber will dress as whatever Paige chooses!
Karl shows off his party costume to Susan - he's dressed as Sonny Bono, although Susan thinks he looks more like a pirate! Susan refuses to be the Cher to his Sonny, and the two discuss the impact Tyler's arrest is having on Nate. Right on cue, Nate returns with news Mark and Tyler's row.
NATE: I was actually wondering if you guys would consider...
KARL: Oh, absolutely not!
SUSAN: Let him get the question out!
KARL: I know what the questions going to be, and there is no way that Tyler is staying here.
Everything is smiles and kisses between Naomi and Paul who are sharing breakfast on the sofa, as they are interrupted by Daniel who gently teases them. He tells them that he and Amber are putting aside their issues to attend the party: cue Naomi hurrying off to Paul's wardrobe to find a tragic 80s costume for him! Daniel leaps onto Paul in a spontaneous hug to express his happiness about Naomi and Paul.
As Aaron tries to make arrangements for Tyler's accommodation on his phone, Nate breaks the news to Tyler that the Kennedy's have said no; although he thinks he can persuade Susan. Aaron returns with bad news that his plan has fallen through, so Nate convinces Tyler to speak to Karl.
Daniel has a costume sorted courtesy of Amber, and asks Naomi if she and Paul will be attending the party. They both seem a reluctant, but as Naomi goes to make a pot of tea Daniel tries to convince Paul not to keep their relationship a secret.
Paige's pop- star party has begun, and a crowd of extravagantly dressed extras have arrived. Paige makes an entrance dressed as J. Lo and meets Lauren who's come as Sandy from Grease. At that moment, Brad enters dressed as Danny, and they all find the coincidence hilarious - aside from Terese (dressed as Katy Perry) who assumes Paige has set the whole thing up. As the Grease super- couple and JLo dance together, Terese gets a glass of wine from the bar and watches on, clearly upset.
Susan appears from the bedroom in a Cher costume, to Karl's delight. Nate and Tyler interrupt their happy moment, as Tyler wants to apologise and asks them to reconsider their decision. Susan declines Tyler again stating that they can't trust him.
SUSAN: Explain it to us honestly, why should we give you a second chance?
TYLER: Because... because I got nothing left, and I'm truly sorry. I know I don't deserve it, but Nate told me you guys got behind him when he was going through some heavy stuff, and I was hoping you could do the same for me.
Paige reads a birthday card from Mark, sending his apologies, along with a present of some new boxing gloves. Imogen, Josh, Daniel and Amber make a grand entrance dressed as ABBA, and Paige is left in hysterics as she can't believe they went along with her suggestion! Imogen gives Daniel a brief history of the band as he's completely clueless and they share a spark as they head to the bar.
Naomi and Paul have finished off a romantic meal, and Naomi suggests they go for a walk. Paul surprises Naomi by suggesting they go to the party instead, as a couple. Naomi is overjoyed, but Paul instantly regrets his decision as she races away to find them a costume!
Nate is trying out a very poor half- hearted Liam Gallagher costume, when Karl enters and offers a room to Tyler on the condition that he stays on his best behaviour. Tyler is keen to move straight in but Aaron insists they celebrate at Paige's party.
The party is in full swing as the boys from Harold's arrive. Paige apologises to Tyler for his situation, but he insists they have fun as it's her party. Lauren interrupts them to drag Paige away to make a speech.
Later in the evening as several speeches have been made, Imogen invites Lauren and Brad to make their own, leaving Terese looking uncomfortable.
LAUREN: Any parent knows that the bond that you have with your child is something that never goes away, no matter how old they are.
BRAD: We weren't there for a lot of Paige's first milestones but your mother and I are thrilled to be here for your 21st. It's a gift, and we don't have a lot of memories of who you were as a child, but we know who you are now: a beautiful, big- hearted, slightly stubborn gorgeous woman who has the world at her feet.
LAUREN: We love you darling!
As the crowd applauds, Terese drains her glass and leaves the room.
The party rocks on and later Paul and Naomi make an entrance as Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga respectively! They meet Kyle and Sheila at the bar (Keith Urban and Dolly Parton).
NAOMI: More importantly, Mum, Kyle, this is my boyfriend Paul.
SHEILA: Yeah, I know who he is.
NAOMI: He's my BOYFRIEND now!
SHEILA: I know.
NAOMI: Yeah but now it's official!
Paul suggests they go and find somebody who cares, as Daniel and Sheila ponder over the happy couple and dance together. Elsewhere Amber is taking photos and Josh tells her to stop working and have fun. He tries to bring up the topic of their baby's surgery, but Amber insists that she doesn't want to discuss the issue during the party, and goes to take a photo of Paul and Naomi. As Sheila drags Naomi away to dance, Paul takes Amber aside and makes it clear that the photos are strictly for personal use only as he isn't ready to go public about his relationship.
The blue wig is off as Terese looks at a photo of Lauren, Brad and Paige together. Susan sits down to check up on her.
TERESE: You know, when Brad got up to speak all I wanted to do was grab the microphone and tell everyone what a manipulative home wrecker she is.
SUSAN: Who is?
TERESE: Paige is trying to get Brad and Lauren back together. I saw a text on her phone.
SUSAN: Are you sure you read it right? A text message can be interpreted in a million different ways.
TERESE: I know what I saw.
Terese explains that Paul advised her not to intervene and wait until Paige slips up to confront her, and Susan insists that she has to talk to Paige.
TERESE: I don't trust her! And she'd probably lie to my face anyway.
SUSAN: Look what this is doing to you.
TERESE: You don't understand Susan, it is not your relationship that's being threatened here.
SUSAN: That's true - but it has been, more than once. Come on, let's go back to the party. Whatever the truth is, and whether Paige likes it or not, you are Brad's wife and you're not going anywhere.
Back at the party Brad manages to find Terese again, but their conversation is cut short as Paige makes a speech.
PAIGE: When I first came to Erinsborough, I never thought that I would make so many great friends, and become so close to a family that I never knew. I'd like to say a big thank you to my step- mum Terese, for putting on this big do tonight, and also a special mention to my step- dad Matt; he is extremely missed.
Paige invites Lauren and Brad up to the stage so she can continue her speech, as a mysterious someone makes their way through the crowd.
PAIGE: You are everything a kid could wish for in their parents. You're generous, unconditional and always accepted me for me. This pop- star party wouldn't have happened if it wasn't for mum - you are everything I've always wanted for in a mother and I love you so much.
LAUREN: Oh darling, I love you too.
Paige's face suddenly drops as she spots someone in the crowd.
BRAD: (to Lauren) That must be Mary.

- Susan tries to give Terese marriage advice
- Terese invites Mary into a hotel room
- Tyler gets into an aggressive argument with Karl
