Previously on Neighbours
- Mark lying to his brother about Naomi and not feeling good about that.
- Tyler complimenting Imogen.
- Imogen denying that Tyler is her type.
- Matt realising he can't work for Dimato.
- Matt exploding at Bailey.
Bailey is cleaning up the smashed plate when Paige comes home and initially thinks it was him who smashed the plate until he puts her right.
Paige finds Matt sitting in the bar consuming a whisky and empathises with him about losing it with Bailey.
MATT: There is no excuse for what I did, I'm a cop, it's my job to stay calm not explode over some dirty dishes.
PAIGE: Yes but you weren't in cop mode, you were in stressed out, over-worked, under slept dad mode.
Paige confirms to Matt that Bailey was scared but adds that he's alright since he's a tough kid but urges Matt to go home and talk to him. "I can't," Matt replies and thinks Bailey will need space.
While Mark is impressed at the $600 Tyler has handed over for the first month's rent, he isn't impressed at the mess he's made of the house and lets it be known! Tyler can sense there's more to it and asks why he's not seen Naomi around (Mark was leaving a voicemail to her about going out for dinner when he arrived home) and orders him to go say sorry to her (he correctly guessed they'd had a fight) once Mark's had a shower though!
Paige has taken Bailey out of the house to keep her company while she covers the rest of Lauren's shift to let her go home to talk to Matt.
Imogen is about to choose a packet of sweets but Tyler picks them off the shelf before she has a chance to select them herself. After confusing him with legal speak, they decide instead to share the sweeties.
Naomi finds Susan waiting to be served at the bar and asks if she wants to be one of the bake off judges. "I'd love to," is her reply and Sheila invites herself to be a judge too after arriving back at the bar just as Susan was accepting Naomi's invitation.
"Don't you think this has gone on long enough," Mark bemoans to Naomi when he finds her in the bar but she replies that she's simply been busy not intentionally ignoring him and puts an end to their friends with benefits relationship.
Paige tries to explain to Bailey what Matt is going through having been a former sufferer but the lad is still in shock at seeing his dad go off like that, something he's never done before. She tries another tactic to cheer him up - getting him out of the kitchen doing dishes to watch Tyler attempting to flirt with Imogen instead.
Lauren is very neutral with Matt when he arrives home before eventually saying that she is worried about him, remarking that she's never seen him like this before. Matt promises to pull himself together and to make it up with Bailey but Lauren points that that it's not just tonight where they've essentially been walking on eggshells around him and they can't all work themselves into the ground to pay the mortgage.
LAUREN: We can't live under this sort of pressure.
MATT: So what do we do?
LAUREN: I don't know but I won't sacrifice your health or our family, not for a house, it's not worth it. Maybe the only option left is to sell.
He tries to say it won't always be this bad, that they'll find a way but Lauren stops him in is track and somewhat reluctantly, he agrees with her suggestion.
"Tyler is an annoying gate crasher on my research session," Imogen explains to her sister when she gets a grilling after ordering some coffee. Paige trying to tell Imogen that Tyler is into her falls on deaf ears so she decides to act on her sisters behalf by inviting him over to #32 for a swim. "I'm in," he tells them.
PAIGE: Yah, sisterhood!
IMOGEN: This is not going to work!
Sheila and Susan discuss how to judge the baking competition but both are at opposite ends of the spectrum (Susan modern, Sheila traditional) so it might be a while before they reach a compromise!
Mark seeks advice from Nate/Chris on how to get back on Naomi's good side. They suggest buying her an apology pressie but not expensive as that would remind her of Charles.
CHRIS: Keep it simple, forget the roses, think handmade, natural.
And that natural would be something handpicked from the bush, Chris manages to barely say while keeping a straight face!
Number 32 (next day)
Paige is trying to get Imogen and Tyler to get a move on towards being a couple and is stunned when Imogen replies that she is only there to make sure Paige gets with Tyler because she's in need of some male attention!
PAIGE: Not from him! I have dated Tyler's before and yes, they are fun but that is it.
IMOGEN: If he's not on my journey towards the high court then he's not on the agenda.
"Come on, he likes you!" Paige tells her sister while in the background, Tyler strips off his top and gets into the pool, and Imogen more certainly likes what is on display despite the words coming out of her mouth saying he's not her type!
Mark is trying to pick his own bouquet of (natural) flowers but then has a run in with some bees!
Imogen decides to make herself scarce to let Tyler/Paige get together but when they are alone, Paige gives him advice on how to win Imogen over.
PAIGE: I'm going to bail and I'm going to give you a chance to pick up your game okay.
Despite Bailey trying to come up with ideas on how they can raise money, Matt/Lauren break it to him that they've decided to sell the house (they wanted to test the water with him first rather than telling everyone at a family meeting). He looks shell shocked at the decision and quickly decides to head back to work in the kitchen.
Lauren follows Bailey into the kitchen and Matt calls Michelle to see when he's getting more shifts and for her to pass on a message to Dimato that he can trust him.
Tyler is putting Paige's advice into practice (despite the interruption of a text from Michelle to see if he's finished stripping the car yet) and they do seem to be getting on much better.
There seems to be no comprise reached between Sheila/Susan on the judging criteria as they practise over some sandwiches made by Kyle. Both then suddenly pull out as being judges when they hear what the prize is (a trip to London) so that they can enter themselves.
SUSAN: And I'm going to bake the socks off her.
SHEILA: Game on Kennedy!
As Naomi goes to follow Susan out to try to get her to change her mind, she comes across the flowers and an apology from Mark.
Hesitantly, Mark partially opens the door to Naomi and she asks if the flowers are some twisted way he's got of dumping her?! "Didn't you read the card?" he asks, she did but thinks there were words missing ie. that she's dumped and the flowers are to console her. "That's what Chris and Nate told me you'd love," he pleads and the penny drops with Naomi and she calls him an idiot! "Thanks!" Mark replies and she wants to come into the house to discuss it but Mark bars her entry and says that he is busy. Given his reply, she goes to leave but Mark stops her and tells her to come in and we see why he didn't initially want to see her - he has several bee stings on one side of his face.
MARK: This is your fault!
NAOMI: Is it now?!
MARK: Yes, well if you were just a normal person who liked flowers from a florist.
NAOMI: I am! I do!
She then explains that their 'advice' was given in revenge to the bad present advice she gave them.
MARK: So you don't even like nature arrangements?!
Naomi decides on the kiss and make up method of apology instead to him whilst minding his delicate face of course!
Just as Tyler is about to resume stripping Hermione, he gets a text from Imogen saying it was nice chatting with him today and to have fun at work. Tyler then discovers who has owned the car - Imogen thanks to finding her library card underneath the driver's seat.
- Brad warning Nick about accepting things from Paul.
- Dimato doing a deal with Tyler.
We then also see a mini-promo for the Erinsborough Festival and the graphic asks 'Who else will return?' after seeing some old neighbours who are attending the Festival.
