Imogen, Josh and Paige are in disbelief that Brad has been arrested for Ezra's assault. Terese and Brad come in; Toadie's former boss Charlotte McKemmie has managed to get him out on bail. His case will be heard at the magistrate's court on the day after Boxing Day, and Brad says that Charlotte thinks they can get the case dismissed. In the meantime, he says, Imogen should be thinking about her imminent VCE results.
Suite 1 Eclipse Apartments
Paul and Daniel discuss Brad's arrest for Ezra's assault.
PAUL: The man's a wishy-washy, ineffectual yoga-type. He isn't capable of beating somebody up.
Daniel asks Paul who he thinks is responsible if not Brad. He claims he has no idea. Daniel suggests that he and Paul go ice-skating in the city, but Paul isn't keen. Daniel admits things have been weird between him and Amber since Rain left town - and he's regretting having let Rain back into his life. He insists he's still in love with Amber, but he's getting a vibe that she's needing some space. Paul advises Daniel to act fast, as 'space' is often the first step on the road to separation.

In the back garden, Lauren watches while Paige and Bailey play volleyball in the pool. Amber comes out and tells Lauren she's going to help Daniel set up for the Erinsborough carol concert, and to take some photos for Naomi's new website. Lauren asks if everything's okay between Amber and Daniel - Amber admits things are a bit different, but says they'll work it out. Lauren tells Amber to let her know if her VCE results come through.
As Amber leaves, Georgia arrives, dressed as a Christmas elf, much to the Turners' amusement. She's been roped in by Naomi to deliver toys to sick kids at the hospital - an initiative linked to the carol event and sponsored by a local firm called Liam Dewey Motors.
GEORGIA: Except it's impossible for one little elf like me to hand out all of these toys, so who wants to elf up and do their bit for the kids?
LAUREN: I've got to work.
PAIGE: Me too.
Everyone looks at Bailey, who is mortified by the prospect of dressing up as an elf.
GEORGIA: You'll look so cute in this outfit!
BAILEY: No!

Imogen is looking into ways to help Brad with the assault case. She tells Josh that while the evidence is only circumstantial, people have been jailed for less. Josh reminds her that he got off lightly, and Chris's injuries were far worse than Ezra's, but Imogen wants to be prepared for the worst: even if he only gets community service, he'll still lose his teaching job. Josh remarks how unfair it is.

On the patio, Georgia, Paige and Lauren await Bailey's emergence in his elf costume. When he grudgingly appears, they all squeal like children and take pictures of him.
PAIGE: Nice legs!
LAUREN: You are the cutest.
Bailey isn't enthusiastic about the charity task ahead, although for some reason Lauren thinks it might be a good way to meet girls.
BAILEY: You are not serious.
PAIGE: I don't know actually. Because I've already got three likes on this photo, and they're all from chicks.
BAILEY: Yeah, and Paige, they're making fun of me.
Georgia tells a miserable Bailey that if he pretends to be happy, she'll shout him a burger afterwards. Bailey's happiness level increases unfeasibly.
Lassiter's Complex
Amber and Daniel are taking pictures of volunteer carol singers. Amber attempts to make a swift exit once she's done, but Daniel says Naomi asked them to stick around for an hour. When Amber's not keen, Daniel asks her what's wrong - she admits that recent events involving Rain are still on her mind. Daniel tells Amber not to waste energy thinking about her, and to keep busy. They get back to work, but Amber is still pensive.
Erinsborough Police Station
Josh comes in to talk to Matt.
JOSH: I'd like to turn myself in.
MATT: What for?
JOSH: Dad didn't assault Ezra Hanley - I did.
Shortly afterwards, Matt is interviewing Josh. He says he followed Ezra in an attempt to reason with him regarding the lawsuit against Terese, which resulted in a confrontation. But Josh obviously hasn't thought through the details of his lie, as he hesitates when Matt asks him where it happened, before saying it was outside Harold's. He then presents a badly bashed-up hand as proof of his responsibility.
MATT: You must really love your dad to deliberately hurt your hand like that. But lying to the police is a serious offence.
JOSH: I'm not lying.
MATT: Josh - those grazes are fresh. And when you gave me your supervisor's number yesterday, your hand was fine.
Matt tells Josh that there are more productive ways to help Brad.
Lassiter's Complex
Georgia and Bailey are enjoying their post-good deed burgers outside Harold's, still in their elf costumes - when an elf in a different suit comes over and accosts them! He's from Santa's Kingdom in Erinsborough Mall.
RALPH: Yeah, look - I was just passing by. I couldn't help but wonder - who do you guys elf for?
BAILEY: Oh, no, no, no - we don't elf permanently.
Georgia explains they're just doing a one-off gig for the hospital/carol concert.
RALPH: Oh, that explains it then.
BAILEY: Explains what?
RALPH: Why you don't know the rules.
GEORGIA and BAILEY: ....
RALPH: When an elf is in costume, we must maintain an elflike persona at all times. And lounging around eating sloppy burgers and slurping on drinks? It's not elflike!
Bemused, Georgia tells him they're leaving once they've finished their food.
RALPH: I don't think you understand. You need to leave now.
They agree to do as they're told, and Ralph walks off happily, while Bailey and Georgia laugh.
BAILEY: That did not just happen. There has to be hidden cameras somewhere!
No 22
Josh comes in - Imogen explains Brad and Terese are at a meeting with Charlotte. Noticing the graze on Josh's hand, Imogen asks what happened. Josh says he punched a wall, just like Brad did - and swears Imogen to secrecy, before admitting that he tried to falsely confess to Ezra's assault.
IMOGEN: How many kinds of stupid are you?
Imogen hits the roof, and tells Josh that Matt could charge him with obstructing an investigation, even though he didn't believe him about the assault. Josh says Matt has let him off with a warning. Imogen starts slapping him.
IMOGEN: You are such an idiot. Idiot, idiot, idiot!
She reminds him that she put her exam studies on hold so Josh wouldn't go to prison over his attack on Chris - and that he almost just threw it all away. Josh says he's grateful for everything Imogen did for him, and hugs her. Brad comes in, and Imogen explains away their hugging by saying she's stressed about her exam results, which are due any time now.
Harold's Store
Amber comes in to tell Lauren her VCE results - she got 73, which is a pass. Now it's just a case of getting her folio selected in order to get on the photography course she wants to do.
AMBER: It's funny how things change. Only last week I was going to give it all up to move into a commune with Daniel.
Lauren asks how Daniel is, noting that she's gathered they may be going through a rocky patch. Amber admits that Rain really 'got in her head'; Amber doesn't think Rain did any lasting damage to her, but she's upset and disappointed about how easily she was sucked in.
LAUREN: You are a very beautiful, very trusting and very generous girl. And I don't want you ever to change that.
AMBER: I'm not saying I want to be like Rain. I want to be me. I just don't know who that is.
Lassiter's Complex
Paige comes out of Harold's to check on Georgia and Bailey, who have just about finished stuffing their faces - when Ralph the elf shows up again, and demands to know why they're still here.
GEORGIA: Yeah, yeah. We're leaving.
RALPH: Not soon enough.
BAILEY: You know what, Ralph? You just really need to get over yourself, mate.
Bailey starts openly mocking Ralph, so Ralph steals his hat.
RALPH: You are a disgrace to the uniform.
BAILEY: Give it back, tinsel-for-brains.
RALPH: Or what?
BAILEY: Or a kick in the baubles for starters!
Ralph immediately starts running away with Bailey's hat, and a comedy chase ensues around the courtyard, documented for posterity by extras with cameras. Eventually, Georgia intervenes and retrieves Bailey's hat from Ralph, then asks the two boy-elves to shake hands and part on good terms. Bailey goes to shake, but Ralph just storms off.
BAILEY: Yeah, well, Merry Christmas, idiot!
PAIGE: Well that has to be the best thing I've ever seen.
The Waterhole
Terese is giving Paul an update on Brad's assault charges - she's trying to stay positive, but can't see it ending well. Paul points out that at least Ezra isn't suing them now, but Terese thinks that's weird.
PAUL: Maybe he's had a near-death experience and it's put everything into perspective.
TERESE: Well he's certainly not speaking up about it. Which just makes me desperate to find out who actually did it.
Paul looks shifty. Meanwhile, Amber comes in and Daniel gives her a hug, to celebrate her VCE results. Amber tells him she's still upset about Rain, and that she's started to think Rain may be right about how different Amber and Daniel are.
DANIEL: She just said that stuff to hurt us. It's not true. At least I don't think it is.
AMBER: So what if I told you I think recycling is a joke? And that I love fast food. Would you still love me if I told you that sometimes I'm just going along for the ride instead of believing in things that you do?
DANIEL: Of course I would. We don't have to agree on everything. Life would be pretty boring if we did.
Daniel tells Amber to stop stressing and have a drink with him, but a still unconvinced Amber says she has to go and help Lauren put together Christmas hampers for the needy.
Lassiter's Lake
Elf-Bailey and Elf-Georgia are talking about their run-in with Ralph, when Naomi calls Georgia. She tells her that someone filmed the elf fight between Bailey and Ralph and it's now gone viral online. What's more, Liam Dewey of Liam Dewey Motors has seen it, and pulled out of the carol service sponsorship. So unless Naomi finds a new sponsor, the whole event will fold. Bailey looks contrite.
History Wall
Daniel sits down next to a forlorn-looking Imogen and asks what's up. She says her VCE results aren't what she hoped. She got 91, which Daniel says is awesome, but Imogen doesn't look convinced. Daniel offers to keep her company while she goes to fetch some fairy lights for Naomi from home, and he offers her his hand as she stands up. Imogen looks only marginally happier.
No 22
Imogen is moaning to Daniel about this year having been an 'annus horribilis', and they've still got Brad's magistrate's hearing on the 27th, so it could get worse yet. Daniel tries to reassure her, saying at least her family's back together now - but Imogen says there's a big, black cloud looming over the Willises. She gets very worked up, but Daniel calms her down.
DANIEL: Things are going to get better.
IMOGEN: I can't see how.
He tells her she just has to give it time and stay strong, but she's not sure she can.
DANIEL: Remember the day that we met, down at the lake?
IMOGEN: Yeah. I gave you grief about camping there.
DANIEL: Yeah, you did! But what I remember clear as day was how strong and determined you were. You're still that same girl. That strength and determination hasn't gone anywhere, and that's how I know you'll get through this. You're a good person. You deserve happiness.
He rests a hand on her shoulder, and Imogen responds by kissing him on the lips!
Unmissable Drama
- Imogen is regretting kissing Daniel, but Paige advises her to say nothing and hope Daniel doesn't
- Daniel asks Amber if she's spoken to Imogen, and later Imogen is nervous as Amber appears
