Number 30
"What are you thinking?" Mark asks Sonya after reminding her all that Erin has done. She tries to explain to him that Erin isn't a bad person; she just wants to help her to have the same chances that she's had because she thinks Erin is just lashing out as she's too scared to ask for help. "They don't change," is Mark's tuppenceworth and Sonya reminds him that she has changed.
SONYA: It's very easy to treat all addicts like they're lost causes but we're not. She just needs someone to believe in her, she needs someone on her side.
"Does that have to be you?" he asks and Sonya replies that there is no-one else and promises to let Toadie know as soon as he's landed.
Their chat is interrupted by a knock on the door and Mark answers it to find Erin on the doorstep. Both are shocked to see the other person and she asks if he's the guard dog before ignoring him and walking into the house to talk to Sonya... alone. He isn't allowing that to happen, she's got to say what she has to say in front of him too. "Fine," is her response.
Number 26
In the backyard, Gary serves up breakfast to Sheila and Kyle but the later is more interested in becoming acquainted with the tools Mark has lent him and heads inside to see if he can use them to repair the wonky shelf. Gary admits to his mum that he wishes he could do more to help his son and asks Sheila about who Paul Robertson is as he's heard he hires people. Sheila fills him in on who Paul is and tries to ward him off getting a job from Paul.
Number 30
Sonya denies Erin's accusation that she's buying her off and promises all the help she can give so that Erin can keep clean/get her daughter back. "You can't," Erin tells her and literally walks out of the house telling Sonya to leave her alone.
Mark tries to reassure Sonya that she should now leave it to the courts, she's done all that she can but Sonya isn't ready to give up on Erin despite Mark trying to dissuade her.
Number 22
As they decorate the Christmas tree, Brad tries to persuade Terese to go skiing in Canada and see their other daughter at the same time. Their happy mood is then deflated when Terese receives papers to say that Ezra is suing her for defamation.
The Waterhole
Gary approaches Paul to see if there is any work going (as long as its cash in hand) and explains that it's a mutual friend (his old cell buddy) that put him in touch with Paul but their chat is curtailed when Terese arrives to tell him about Ezra suing her (Gary leaves them to it). "Snap," he replies and reassures her that Ezra won't get away with this, informing her of a mediation meeting he's arranged with Tim Collins.
TERESE: He's your lawyer, he won't be impartial
PAUL: Ezra doesn't know that! Look, this way Ezra gets to vent, we get to hear what he thinks he's got over us and then we crush him. Bye bye law suit.
TERESE: Well you better be right.
PAUL: I am.
TERESE: ...
PAUL: Trust me Terese, I will fix this.
Number 30
Watching a mother/daughter bond in the bar has obviously gotten to Erin as she's now back at #30 wanting to know why Sonya wants to help her. "Because I care about you," is Sonya's immediate reply followed up with "we used to be friends and I feel bad." Sonya denies her accusation that it was her fault although she does say that she feels a responsibility. That admission seems enough for Erin to trust Sonya to helping her get her daughter back and Sonya thinks it's amazing she got herself clean/staying clean and the next step is for her to get a job.
The Waterhole
Sonya is trying to point out the benefits of working as they enter the bar to see if Sheila's got any jobs going. The only thing Sheila's got is for a glass collector and Erin is up for it, so Sheila gives her a trial run starting immediately.
Harold's Store
"Interesting venue choice," Ezra remarks when he meets Paul/Terese. Moments later Tim arrives and plays dumb that he knows Paul/Terese and they immediately get down to business with Tim asking Ezra for his take on events.
Ezra begins by explaining that he/Terese have a history and she invited him to her room adding that "it was obvious what she wanted." He continues by saying she poured him some wine (Terese interjects to say it was him that did that) and that she was glad to see him after all these years.
EZRA: Then... well I'll leave that up to your imagination.
TERESE: (immediately) That's not true!
Tim asks if they spent the night together and Ezra replies yes but not the whole night and again Terese immediately interjects to say it wasn't even 1/10th of the night! Ezra confirms that everything that happened that night was mutually consensual.
EZRA: And she felt guilty after which is why we're here and Robinson's just backing her up because they're mates. That's why he got me fired.
Paul asks him where his proof of that is and Ezra immediately throws that same question to Terese.
The Waterhole
Gary tries to keep Kyle's spirits up as he struggles to do the repair job at the pub especially since he's ruined Mark's drill. Kyle isn't keen on accepting his dad's 'charity' but Gary wants to be there for his son.
Sheila is really happy with the work Erin is doing at the bar and her good mood extends to giving Mark a drink on the house for lending Kyle his drill. The good mood immediately goes however when Mark explains who her temp really is.
Harold's Store
Paul isn't mincing his words at Ezra when we return to the store.
PAUL: You are a disgrace to this company and humanity!
Tim reminds everyone to keep it civil but that doesn't stop Ezra from bringing up that Terese's marriage was in trouble and that Brad cheated on her with Lauren. To support his claim, he add that he's got witnesses to show that it was her who brought him back to her room and the documents to show why he was in Erinsborough.
EZRA: You want evidence, I've got plenty! You started an affair with me to punish your husband.
TERESE: Liar!
EZRA: that's character assassination and you won't get away with it.
TERESE: You attacked me!
Tim asks for everyone to calm down and wants names of Ezra's witnesses but he refuses to do that and wants their next meeting to be in court.
The Waterhole
Sheila wants confirmation from Erin about the stuff Mark is claiming and she decides instead to quit saving Sheila from firing her. Sonya spots her walking out of the bar as she enters and asks what's happened and Erin tells her to ask "her guard dog!"
Sheila isn't amused at the type of person Sonya recommended to her especially with the information ie. she was her stalker/an addict. Sonya tries to explain that the kitchen job would have been better (that job had gone) and kept quiet after seeing how keen Erin was at the thought of getting the glass collecting job. "Please don't put me in that position again," Sheila tells her.
Lassiters Complex
Terese confirms to Brad that the law suit is still going to go ahead and suggests that they should look at a settlement otherwise they risk bankruptcy. "I am not giving that guy a cent," is Brad's thoughts but she points out that he has all the evidence supporting his story.
TERESE: What are we going to do? If it goes to court it could bring everything up about our private lives - about Lauren, about Paige, our marriage.
BRAD: Listen; just remember what he did to you okay. We cannot give in.
Just at that, Ezra passes them walking into the heart of the complex and Brad immediately goes to him. Terese pleads for him to stop while Ezra wants him to carry on so he can add an assault charge to the list!
BRAD: If you want to stay standing I suggest you walk away.
EZRA: You're a pathetic bully.
Ezra then motions as if to headbutt Brad but doesn't actually touch him before seconds later walking away.
What has happened has made Terese even more determined to settle and equally it's made Brad even more determined that Ezra can't win.
Lassiters hotel foyer
Gary is back trying to get work again out of Paul... anything at all he adds but it does is have Paul tell him to "stop bothering me!"
Brad/Gary change places and he informs Paul about Terese wanting to back down as she is so freaked out.
PAUL: We cannot give in to this lowlife.
"Can't you do something about it?" Brad asks and Paul's reply is "like what?!" Brad's suggestion is getting more dirt on Ezra and Paul explains that he's trying.
BRAD: Well try harder; you brought this guy to Erinsborough so everything comes back to you. Fix it!
Brad departs and after he's left, Paul notices the piece of paper Gary left that has his number on it.
Harold's Store
Mark is unrepentant at what he told Sheila about Erin when Sonya comes into the store to have a go at him. He is also happy to hear that Erin has disappeared and doesn't seem too amused at Sonya planning on going to look for her. Toadie calls from Chile and Mark forces her to answer the call and that she has to tell him about Erin.
The Waterhole
Paul approaches Ezra as he's having something to eat to offer him a deal - he wants to know what it will cost to drop the lawsuit. "Half a mil," is the figure Ezra has in mind, which causes Paul to immediately start laughing and asks him to give a serious figure. Ezra confirms that he wants $500k since it will be impossible to find another job, since his name is mud, so plans on using the money to set himself up.
PAUL: Yes well that's not going to happen. You see let me make one thing clear, I have the money, I have the lawyers and I have the contacts. If I need to, I will ruin you.
EZRA: You wouldn't be here if you weren't worried.
PAUL: Just watching out for Terese.
EZRA: See that's the thing, she doesn't have the money or the lawyers or the contacts.
PAUL: I see, so you're just going to make her life hell for the fun of it eh?
EZRA: There's nothing fun about this. Both of you used me and trashed my reputation and I want compensation. Half a mil and I walk away now otherwise I'll keep this up until Terese caves... and she will.
Ezra goes to leave the bar but Paul's not finished.
PAUL: You do not want to mess with me.
EZRA: Really?
Lassiters Complex
Terese walks through the complex talking to Brad to ask him to email Toadie about who to get to represent them. As she reaches the back of Harold's, she discovers Ezra lying on the ground having been beaten up. She goes over to where he's lying to initially check on him before calling 000 to summon an ambulance.
Unmissable drama
- Matt informing Paul that Ezra's been assaulted.
- Terese wanting confirmation from Brad that he wasn't responsible.
- Matt questioning Josh.
- Karl treating Brad.
- Karl expressing his thoughts to Susan that he knows who is responsible.
- Brad denying Matt's accusation.
