- Toadie finds Sonya going through his emails after he had to work late with Naomi
Rebecchi Law Office
Sonya can't believe what she's done and admits she's not OK with Naomi working for Toadie. He says he understands.
TOADIE: I wish you didn't feel the need to snoop, but I understand.
She says she trusts him and she realises he's mad at her. He says he's tired and wants to go home. He sighs.
No 32
Paige wanders in (as you do) looking for Lauren, but she's not in this episode. Paige comments that Bailey is dressed for a workout, and asks if he wants to go for a run with her and Brennan. (Why does nobody call him Mark?) Bailey says he wouldn't want to interrupt anything. Matt comes in, and thinks it's a great idea to go with Paige.
BAILEY: I don't want to work out with other people.
MATT: I am not other people. I'm your dad. And I used to do cop boot camp. I could show you a few tricks to add to your regime.
PAIGE: (quietly to Bailey) This is the part where you show gratitude for having a dad that actually cares, and agree.
Bailey goes to warm up and Paige thanks Matt for speaking to Terese. She spots the picture of her younger self and smiles.
Near Lassiter's lake
Paige and Mark are running. They sit down and she tells him she's made a breakthrough with her families, though the Willeses are still a work in progress. He's happy that she's happy, even though he claims she's meaner to him then.
Waterhole
Naomi is telling Josh she is busy at work, which means they have to cut back on their "personal training time". She tells him how Sonya kept casually dropping in when she and Toadie were working late. Josh says that in that case, she should make time for him. Imogen comes in and asks if Josh is really studying hard. He claims he's done two chapters. She then snippily asks Naomi about the legal documents on the table. Naomi tells Josh she'll call him and leaves. Josh tells Imogen to give it a rest, and she leaves.
Lassiter's complex
Matt is running along with Bailey having difficulty keeping up. Outside the Waterhole, Matt agrees to a two minute rest, which turns out to be about half a minute. Bailey complains, but it's no use. Josh and Imogen see what happens.
Imogen tells Josh that being with Naomi won't help him get over Amber.
JOSH: Why are you so obsessed with my life?
IMOGEN: Why do you have to keep Naomi a secret?
She thinks it's because he wants Amber to think he's available. She claims she wants to help, so he tells her to help by butting out. Being with Naomi is fun, and it's more fun when it's a secret.
Elsewhere, Bailey is now doing push-ups and gives up. Paul walks past.
PAUL: What's the kid done to deserve this? It's all right, Bailey. We're not all designed to be grunters.
Paul walks off, and Bailey angrily says that's why he didn't want to work out in front of other people.
BAILEY: Look, I'm not you, Dad. I'm not Mason. I'm... I'm a computer nerd. And... and I'm kidding myself if I ever think I'll be strong enough.
He walks off, leaving Matt looking pensive.
Rebecchi Law Office
Naomi has some messages and documents for Toadie, when Sonya and Nell (awww) walk into the office with coffee and cupcakes. Naomi goes out to the post, and Toadie tells Sonya that having Naomi working there is not good for them as a couple, so she'll have to go.
Near Lassiter's lake
Paige and Mark are doing some exercise-y thing and she suggests that the loser buys dinner. Mark agrees, but Paige cheats so that she "wins". She tells him that she wants a three course meal as she's very hungry. He agrees, but wants a rematch. They smile at each other.
On the bridge, Josh is looking at the padlock he and Amber put on. Matt jogs past and says he's sorry about what happened. Josh says he is too. They chat about when Josh trained Bailey, and Matt asks if he should leave Bailey to it. Josh thinks he'll find his motivation, and then he'll ask Matt for help.
JOSH: Be there for him when he does.
MATT: You really will be great running that gym.
At the playground (or whatever it is), Paige, Mark and Alice are working out. Alice spots Bailey and lists what she's doing - much more than he is. She asks him if he's read an article in Sky Explorer Magazine, which he obviously hasn't. Paige comes over and Bailey tells her that Alice is the front-runner for Space Camp.
BAILEY: She's smart, she's fit, she's done all the reading. She's terrifying.
PAIGE: She's also terrified of you. You know that, right?
Paige explains that Alice is trying to psyche him out by telling how brilliant she is, and she must think he can beat her.
Harold's
Paige massages Mark's shoulder because he complained it hurt. She has bought a big piece of cake, but says she will still have room for dinner. She says it'll be fun, and he says he's looking forward to it.
At the next table, Sonya suggests to Toadie that rather than firing Naomi, he could hire another assistant. Toadie says he can't afford another experienced PA...
Rebecchi Law Office
Imogen is thrilled by the idea (as is Nell, apparently) Naomi less so. Imogen gives Naomi her coffee order and disappears into Toadie's office to discuss a case.
Play / exercise ground
Bailey and Alice are doing exercises, both determined to outdo the other.
Waterhole
Paige is looking at the menu, and when Josh joins her, she asks him about the food. She asks if calamari is a good dish for two. He says it depends if her date likes seafood.
PAIGE: It's not a date.
JOSH: Hmm. Of course not. You just want to share a dish because you're...
Paige scowls, and Josh leaves grinning, saying it's his mistake. Naomi comes to the bar where Paul is serving. She complains about Imogen.
NAOMI: She's like Attila the Hun in a school uniform.
Paul comments that Naomi doesn't usually scare easily, and says that she could work for him.
NAOMI: Oh yeah? What positions can you offer.
PAUL: I could think of a few.
NAOMI: Anything to do with cling wrap?(!)
Naomi gets a text from Josh, which cheers her up.
Lassiter's complex
Alice jogs off and Bailey collapses onto a bench. Matt comes to see if he's OK and Bailey says he's happy because Alice hates him. Matt's puzzled so Bailey says it means he's competition - which means he's not a total loser. Matt is pleased that Bailey believes it. Bailey says he always felt embarrassed working out with Matt, and Matt explains he feels the same when Bailey tries to explain his space projects. Matt assures him that Alice is right to think that Bailey can beat her.
Sonya and Mark walk past, chatting. Sonya invites Mark over, but he says he's having dinner with Paige, insisting it was just a bet. She asks who he's trying to convince. He looks worried, so she tells him to ignore her and have fun.
No 24 garden
Josh and Naomi are in the spa, and Naomi's talking about how she's insulted that Sonya got Toadie to hire Imogen. Josh suggests telling Sonya she's seeing someone as that might make her relax, but Naomi says people would judge them, especially her mother who thinks she can't cope without a man. He agrees that he likes the secrecy.
Waterhole
Paige is sitting at a table watching as people come in. She gets a text from Mark saying he can't make it.
Charlie's
Mark looks sadly at his phone.
