Previously on Neighbours
- Lauren decides to put her family before finding her daughter.
- Bailey knocks the special bear into a box which is carried out by Sonya.
- Paige finds the bear and compares it to her bear.
- Naomi kisses Toadie.
Number 30
Sonya is calling Toadie's phone. Toadie is staring at Naomi in shock and suggests he should get it and Naomi agrees. Toadie talks awkwardly to Sonya as Naomi looks rather happy.
Number 26
Sonya is emptying rubbish into the bin and finds a receipt in it. Mark tells the guys to get a move on - Georgia was out the door five minutes ago. Chris says Georgia doesn't have to work at it like Kyle does. Kyle tells Chris he can go on his own. Chris reminds Kyle he said he'd come for moral support. Mark suggests they invite Paige and the others instantly disagree. Kyle says he doesn't want any trouble with the Tassie Devil. Mark thinks he's being a bit harsh. Kyle disagrees - he's seen the way she treats customers at Harold's. Mark thinks Paige isn't that bad and Chris suggests maybe next time.
Kyle is about to go out the door when Sheila calls him back. He tells the others to go ahead. She shows Kyle the receipt and tells him to keep it safe in case Georgia wants to exchange. Kyle says he wouldn't spend that much money on bras and undies. Even though Georgia is worth it, it must be Naomi's. Sheila realises she should have known. Naomi's got no money, a huge debt and she's shopping like a demon. Kyle tells Sheila Naomi's not home - she went to Toadie and Sonya's. Sheila says she'll talk to her later. Sheila comments it's nice of Naomi to babysit. Kyle says Toadie's at home and Sonya and Nell are away. There's been tension between them so they thought space would help. A car horn hoots and Kyle leaves, telling Sheila not to wait up.
(The receipt said the date is 2014. The time is 13:18. The receipt is from Madame Fox.)
Number 30
Toadie is talking on the phone to Nell and then hangs up. Naomi asks if they've settled in at the retreat. Toadie asks what was that? Naomi apologises for rushing things. She got all swept up in the moment - that doesn't mean it's wrong. There's a knock at the door. Naomi tells Toadie to ignore it but Sheila lets herself in. She had knocked but she wasn't sure if they heard her. Sheila explains there's an emergency. Toadie asks if everything's alright. Sheila's not sure. Sheila was doing some washing and one of Naomi's blouses got caught in the spin cycle. Naomi wants to know why she didn't untangle it. Sheila knows what Naomi is like about her clothes. She tells Naomi pointedly to come with her and leaves. Naomi laughs and Toadie tells her to go and sort it out. She says they'll talk later.
Number 32
Matt has checked the bedrooms and can't find Lauren's bear. Lauren can't find it and was sure she left it on the side. She's looked everywhere and worries it's been thrown out. Matt reassures her with a hug it must be here somewhere. Paige walks in and gives Lauren something she wanted. Matt says he'll look outside. Lauren offers Paige to stay for a cuppa. Paige says as Mark's gone out she's going to make the most of the empty house. Lauren asks how often they sit down and have a proper chat. Lauren promises not to talk about work. Paige agrees.
Number 26
Naomi checks the washing machine and tells Sheila there's nothing in the washing machine. She wonders why Sheila dragged her home. Sheila hands her the receipt. When Sheila asks Naomi confirms it's hers. Sheila points out it's for expensive lingerie.
NAOMI: I'm not going to stand here and play Twenty Questions with you. I've always bought lingerie - I don't know what the problem is! Is it because I should be saving my money?
SHEILA: It's because it's from the same store you used when you were seeing Charles.
NAOMI: Who would remember that?
Sheila would. Naomi isn't surprised. Sheila asks what Naomi's done. Naomi claims it's nothing. Sheila says that Naomi knew that Sonya was away and went to Toadie hoping to seduce him. Naomi says she went over there to check up on a friend. Sheila doesn't believe her. She asks Naomi if she's wearing the underwear. Naomi tells her not to be ridiculous. Sheila asks her to show her. Naomi refuses and they argue. Naomi thanks Sheila for believing in her and leaves - saying she's going for a walk.
Number 32
Lauren is looking at a display for the Womens Art Exhibition but she's having trouble. Paige offers to take a look - she does a bit of drawing herself. Lauren says she'd love to see some of her work. Paige suggests another time and asks what the theme is. Lauren explains the theme is love and family. She wants to include all her kids including Lily. She doesn't know what to draw though. When Lauren tries to draw her Lily is a vague presence. She doesn't know how tall she is, the colour of her hair. She could draw her any way she wants but she doesn't know who she is in here - indicating her heart. She knows she comes from Adelaide and her surname is Smith - that doesn't tell Lauren whom she really is. Paige suggests she leaves her out. Lauren says she could never do that - she could never do that to any of her kids. Lily might not be in her life but she'll always be a part of her. Lauren starts crying.
Paige looks at the bear in her bag but brings some tissues out instead. Lauren apologises Paige asks if she has a way of remembering Lily. Lauren says she does. Matt interrupts them by saying Mason is on the phone. Lauren asks Paige if she minds if she takes it as she's been trying to get hold of him all week. Paige agrees.
Number 30
Toadie tells Karl it came out of nowhere. Karl is disbelieving that a kiss comes out of nowhere. He asks if anything happened that might have given Naomi the wrong idea.
TOADIE: No, no, nothing out of the usual, alright? We were wrestling a bit - (Karl splutters) no, not like that - ok we were being stupid and she ended up falling on top of me. That's it.
KARL: Ok. What about the lead up to tonight? Anything to suggest she was interested?
TOADIE: No, no - we do spend a fair amount of time together. But it's always platonic and I mainly see her at work.
KARL: Mainly?
TOADIE: Yes - we have had lunch a few times and Sonya and I have been on a double date with her. I helped her when she was freaked out after the singles night. (Karl is looking knowingly at Toadie). No - as a friend. She's kissed me. I have to tell Sonya.
KARL: Well yes you do and she'll want an explanation. So before you tell her you need to know exactly where this kiss came from.
Number 26
Sheila answers the door to Toadie - he asks if Naomi is in. Sheila tells him Naomi's gone out. They had words. Sheila asks what Naomi has done. Toadie doesn't answer and Sheila guesses that Naomi came onto him. Toadie nods. Sheila warned both him and Sonya and after the oranges fiasco - they wouldn't listen. Toadie asks if Sheila thinks Naomi has been building up to this since then. Sheila thinks Naomi had her sights set on him long before that. Toadie says Naomi knows he loves Sonya. Sheila points out it's never stopped Naomi before. Sheila asks how often has he seen Naomi lately - she turns up at the right place at the right time. Sheila asks if Naomi knew Sonya would be away. Toadie tells Sheila that Naomi suggested some time apart might be good for them. She turned up on Toadie's doorstep - Toadie confirms it was twice. Sheila says that Naomi really is a piece of work.
Number 30
Toadie tells Karl that it played out just as Sheila thought it would and he was too dumb to see it coming. Karl points out Toadie sees the best in people - it's not necessarily a bad thing. Karl thinks he should consider the possibility even if he didn't mean to that he might have encouraged her feelings. Toadie points out they get on really well - it's been nice just to have someone to have fun with. Things between him and Sonya have been a bit rough lately. Karl guesses that Naomi has always been sympathetic - she took advantage of his good nature. Toadie points out that he kept reaching out to Naomi when things were bad with Sonya. He didn't just get sucked in - he led Naomi on without knowing it.
Number 24
Paige is looking at the two bears. Mark comes home and Paige hides the bears. Too dark, too loud, too crowded - all the reasons why he never used to go to nightclubs. He thinks he should have stayed in. He asks if she had a night with the pencils. She sort of did. Mark says he was just teasing and she knows that. Paige was thinking of mementoes and she wonders if Mark had any. He explains he gave most of Kate's to Sophie. He's still got her engagement ring and Paul gave him a box of her clothes. She asks if he would ever get rid of it. He would get rid of the clothes but not the ring. Paige says that if he did it would mean he didn't care about Kate anymore. Mark guesses everyone's different - not everyone wants to hang onto something that reminds them of someone they've lost.
Mark asks what she's been working on. She gives a vague answer. Mark promises not to throw anything of hers out - he couldn't stand the prickles. He asks if it's time to get rid of the lilies. She asks him what he thinks of the name Lily. He thinks it's alright and asks why. She doesn't give a reason. Paige gets out a sketch she's working on of her, Lauren and Brad.
Number 26
Sheila is looking out of the window as Naomi arrives home.
SHEILA: You said nothing happened. You kissed Toadie and then you lied to my face about it.
NAOMI: That's cause I knew you wouldn't understand.
SHEILA: Of course I don't. This is Sonya and Toadie we're talking about. They have been nothing but good to you. Didn't you learn anything with that whole Charles thing?
NAOMI: This is nothing like that!
SHEILA: It is! You are still trying to break up a marriage
NAOMI: I'm not. I don't have to. Sonya's doing a good enough job of that herself.
SHEILA: Oh! Is that how you're justifying all of this?
NAOMI: Look - I know what you think of me and what everyone thinks of Sonya but she is no saint. She is an addict.
SHEILA: She's a recovering addict and that is none of your business.
NAOMI: She's forever running after Mark Brennan or trying to help somebody with their Mummy blog or that meeting she runs.
SHEILA: They're her interests!
NAOMI: What about her interest in Jarrod with what he's doing? I mean she doesn't support his career, she holds him back.
SHEILA: Since when?
NAOMI: No - he's not happy with her. I can see that. Ok and since Callum's left it's even more obvious. I wouldn't be surprised if he was the only reason they stayed together.
SHEILA: Oh don't be ridiculous!
NAOMI: Well since he's gone all they do is fight. They never spend any time together and every time that Jarrod tries to make an effort with Sonya she's too busy for him. I mean I have lost count of the amount of times she's just stood him up for somebody else and I can see - I can see - that he is only truly himself when he's not around her.
SHEILA: (She takes Naomi by the shoulders). Toadie is not going to leave his wife for you.
NAOMI: Mum that kiss was shared - he felt something. I know he did. We both did.
Sheila shakes her head at Naomi. Naomi's phone beeps and she checks it. Naomi tells Sheila Toadie's ready to talk about it. This time they can do it without any interruptions. Naomi leaves.
Number 30
Toadie lets Naomi in. He knows it's late but he thought they should discuss what happened earlier. He invites her to sit down. She knew it happened quickly and he might be feeling guilty. Toadie isn't - Naomi is relieved. Toadie tells her she shouldn't have kissed him. She asks why not. Toadie tells her it was way out of line. She sees the way he looks at her, the amount of times he's told her any man would be lucky to have her, he even told her tonight. He apologises if he did anything to give her the wrong impression - he said those things as a friend and he would never do anything to betray Sonya.
Naomi tells him Sonya isn't right for him - she can make him happy. Toadie says that Sonya is his wife, he loves her and he's going to spend the rest of his life with her. Nothing Naomi says or does is going to change that. Naomi tells him that people get divorced all the time, it won't be easy but he has to go with what's in his heart. Sonya is in Toadie's heart. If he had had any idea that Naomi felt any different he would have set Naomi straight. She tells him he needs to process this - you don't kiss someone like that if you don't mean it. Toadie points out she kissed him - Naomi thinks it would have happened if Sonya hadn't rung. Toadie says it wouldn't have made a difference. Toadie thinks they should keep their distance - that includes work. He tells Naomi that she's fired. Naomi can't believe it - Toadie tells her to leave and opens the door for her.
Number 26
Kyle and Chris come in discussing the night. Sheila is banging pots around in the kitchen. Kyle asks her why she's still awake whilst Naomi arrives home. Naomi escapes crying into her room. Sheila chases after her. Kyle and Chris look at each other in bemusement.
Ramsay Street
It's the next morning. Kyle and Chris return from their jog. Chris asks Kyle if he's going in. Kyle thinks Bossy could use a walk and Chris is going to the gym. Mark asks them if they're looking for more punishment - Kyle says they're avoiding it. Gran and Naomi are at it again. Chris thinks it's safer on the streets. Mark thinks something's going on with Paige too. Kyle asks if that's why Mark's out early. Mark's got to take some stuff down to the second-hand shop. Mark tells the others to take it easy on Paige - she's a lot more sensitive than she comes across. Chris thinks it wouldn't be hard. Mark says they make her out to be the Tassie Devil but she's more like a kid that needs a cuddle. Kyle and Chris laugh. Mark explains the shrink on the force used to describe people like that. Paige wants a hug but she's got all these spikes so you can't get near her. Kyle asks if Mark's asking for a hug and he and Chris give Mark a hug. Mark tells them he's talking about Paige. Kyle and Chris wander off.
Toadie tells Karl he doesn't want to tell Sonya about Naomi over the phone. Karl doesn't think that would be a good idea. Whatever Toadie tells Sonya he needs to be completely honest. Toadie wonders what he's going to do - this time apart was meant to bring them closer together. Now he doesn't know what's going to happen when she gets back.
Number 26 Backyard
Kyle comes out and asks Sheila if she's spoken to Naomi this morning. Sheila doesn't answer. Kyle says they've had bust-ups before - whatever is going on between them two they'll sort it out. Sheila tells him she knows he means well but it's best he stays out of it. Kyle points out it's a bit hard when they all live together. Kyle offers to talk to Naomi. Sheila doesn't think she'll listen - she never does. Kyle tells Sheila she's like a Mum to him, Grandpa Frank was like a Dad to him when he was around. Kyle hates seeing Sheila like this - there's got to be something he can do. Sheila says he's a good kid but with the wedding coming up he's got enough on his plate. He doesn't need to worry about this. Kyle agrees and calls Bossy for a walk.
Number 26
Naomi tells Sheila she's ruined her life again - is she happy? Sheila tells her she did that to herself. Sheila tells Naomi she'll keep doing that until she realises how badly her actions affect other people. Naomi says she isn't the one whom stuck her nose in. Sheila says Naomi would say that because she's so self-obsessed.
NAOMI: At least I've got a life. I'm trying to have one. What have you got? You've got no friends, you work in a bar, you live with your grandson, you're a bitter old woman who can't stand to see her own daughter be happy. If Dad could see you now he would be rolling in his grave.
SHEILA: Don't you dare talk about him!
NAOMI: Why not? He only ever wanted the best for me. He never ruined everything the way that you always do.
SHEILA: You don't know what you're saying.
NAOMI: Oh God, I wish that he was alive.
SHEILA: Do you? It's your fault he's dead. (Naomi looks disbelieving at her). The night he found out about your affair with Charles, he had that massive heart attack. See? You killed your father.
Naomi just looks at her mother and walks away.
